This review is specifically for the manager, Taylor. This man was very kind and patient with me. He has helped me in any way he could and educated me on a lot of things. Honestly I didn't expect anything by coming here, but I got some of the best service from him. It is a big store and I think they need a little more staff, but other than that, very clean, large selection, great prices and very friendly staff. read more

I'm unbelievably disappointed right now with the service I received at this Petsmart and their doggie day camp employees and call center. I called in and asked if room was available before reserving two spots for my dogs at day camp. I then drove 30 minutes to the closest Petsmart with day camp only to be told that they overbooked day camp, and there was no room for my dogs. This means I not only had to drive another 30 minutes back home to drop off my dogs (to then drive 30 minutes back because I work in Boulder) wasting time, miles, and gas, but I also wound up an hour late to work. I am very understanding of small mistakes, but this egregious error has done more than make me just a little irritated. The two ladies at the front desk proceeded to say, "Oh, we should have called." Yes! Another error you made that would have prevented the original mistake from affecting everything. I'm just so disappointed with how everything was handled, or not handled. No real apology. No attempt to rectify the situation. Just a "don't blame us, blame the call center" and sent me on my way. It's upsetting because I use this Petsmart as my vet, daycare, groomer, and supply/food store for my three dogs, two cats, and two giant fish tanks. I'm strongly considering taking my business elsewhere because of how this was all handled. I don't recommend using their pets hotel services. If they make a mistake, you're the one who pays for it with no attempt to right their error. The customer service was abysmal. Maybe I should have yelled? That's just not who I am. Apparently not throwing a fit means you don't need to be apologized to nor do they need to do anything to fit their mistake. After my next day camp pass is up, I'll be taking my pups to another place that treats their customers better. read more

I had my Westie groomed at Boulder PetsMart. The groomer clearly has no idea how to groom a Westie. Her face was cut short and her tail feathered. It was her first real haircut and she looks ridiculous. They tried to blame it on my dog being matted, but that was a totally untrue since I brush her almost everyday. I am very disappointed. The manager even commented that her face was "a little short" and gave me a refund. read more

This store is o.k., I suppose, but lacks in so many areas. The selection of dog food brands is limited, as is the selection of toys, leashes, and treats. The store feels dated with little thought given to the more progressive Boulder clientele. Most disappointing are the small enclosures that they keep their animals in...fish, reptiles, birds. It left me feeling depressed and sad for those animals. I will not be returning. read more

Danielle at the Grooming Salon hacked up my yorkie's face and made her nails sharper than before. Honestly not sure what I paid for. Basically cut every hair on a yorkie you're not supposed to cut and the cuts are a jagged and uneven. Don't go here if you don't want your dog to look a mess. read more

I love this Petsmart. I've been to others that are typically "corporate" and haphazard in response, but the people who work here are really great, love pets and try to be helpful in any way they can. In particular, I want to give kudos to two of the employees that have been helpful to me recently: Zach and Dee. Sadly, my big beautiful rescue dog recently got diagnosed with bone cancer. They very thoughtfully helped me go through what my grain-free diet options were. When the inevitable happened and I was back with my newly adopted rescue puppy, they helped me choose a grain-free puppy food that was related to the food that she had been eating at the rescue organization so she would have a smooth transition. I particularly like the choices they carry: Blue Wilderness grain-free kibble and the Only Natural Pet dehydrated food that I use as a mixing/topping for the kibble. Whenever I go into the store I experience many employees that offer to help me find what I need quickly. If there are more than a couple people at a register, they jump to open another one to get you through your errand quickly. Let's not kid ourselves - Petsmart is a corporate run retailer - and these folks can't possibly be getting paid enough given the excellent customer service that they provide. The Boulder staff that I have experienced are really caring & dedicated. You can tell that they love critters - and that is what makes the difference. read more

This is the new location, and it's great. We love the PetsHotel, which offers ALL-DAY daycare and boarding. The place sparkles and the staff is great. We love having the ability to drop-off our dog in the early morning and pick her up by 9pm, all for a single day of daycare that is reasonably priced. We wish they had outdoor space, but our dog doesn't seem to mind. Hours for drop-off and pick-up are flexible, ie. anytime, and it's in a convenient core Boulder location. read more

OMG, the grooming at this store is deplorable. Not only did they take an extraordinary amount of time to wash and dry my dog, she came home WET with knots in both ears and one in her tail that took me approximately 30 minutes with a detangle brush to detangle. Literally, worse than when I brought her in. I had to bather her TWO DAYS LATER! The groomer, I'll just say it was "D" was slower than a sloth, took so long to check in and check out, blaming it on everything from the computer to how "busy" they were. I only saw one other dog there while dropping off and picking up mine. My dog was WET when I picked her up. I did not complain directly to them, because I was actually just glad to get my dog back after 2.5 hours of "grooming" it was a $65 complete waste of money. There was absolutely NO follow up with the experience, which I would have gladly informed them directly. read more

Super slow service every time I've been in there, but otherwise it's the same as any other petsmart. I once waited half an hour for someone to help me with the fish, which is just plain rude since there were lots of salespeople milling about and no other customers. And I did ask someone for help multiple times. I would have walked out, except I needed it for a class I was teaching that day. read more

I have to support a store that offers $10 pet photos with Santa, $5 of which goes to pet charities. The volunteers running the santa photos were so wonderful and patient. They even asked if we had a camera of our own, and took another 5 pictures with our own camera. The doggy day-care looked well-supervised and the dogs were having a fabulous time. They have a great selection of doggie toys. I buy food from Whole Pets, but definitely support the people and company that run this store, a place full of people who obviously love animals. read more

Yes, they're a chain. Big deal; they certainly don't act like a corporation at this location. I'm pretty sure my dog Batman is famous here, and he certainly gets treated like a superhero dog at this PetSmart. I don't know if that's just because his name is Batman, or the fact that I own one wild and crazy little gremlin (I'll admit, sometimes I'm not sure why I didn't name him Skunk, like the evil mogwai from Gremlins). Batman and I come here for dog training and day camp more than anything. As much as I wish their daycare had earlier drop-off hours and an outdoor play area, I still bring Batman here because he always has a BLAST and always makes a bunch of new friends (dogs and people), and the staff love to rave about him to me. Doggy Day Camp has definitely come in handy for some pre-obedience school playtime (it mellows out his "Boston Terrorist" antics so that he behaves better in class), and when I was in the process of moving. PetSmart's doggy day camp is definitely the only place that wears him out after a day of play. The coupons definitely ice the cake. As a dog mom, my favorite part is reading his 'Pawgress Report' at the end of the day ;-) As for training, Lynn has done a fantastic job with Batman! She's had A LOT of patience with all of his extra-special behavior, and she somehow still manages to work around his abilities- and inabilities. But with that patience and effort, I have a better behaved dog who has come a LONG way from his beginnings as a crazy, reactive, and feisty little pound pup. :) read more

I have two dogs and this is where we come for doggie day care. My older dog (who is 7 pounds) has been coming here for almost three years and loves it more than anywhere else in the world. Both of my dogs get overly excited when we pull into the parking lot and pull us into the store and straight to the back (where the pets hotel is). The staff is wonderful and always pays special attention to every dog. Kristin is the BEST! She is the manager there and goes above and beyond for each individual dog. My only complaint is that there is no outdoor space, but my two sun-loving dogs could not care less. I highly recommend this doggie day care to anyone and everyone!! read more

Terrible grooming services. They try to upsell you on everything -- they even claimed they didn't have time to bathe my dog unless I wanted to also pay for a furminator service. They don't seem to know or care about dogs either. One groomer walked up behind my dog and with no introduction or anything pulled a chunk of hair off her back leg, startling her. Definitely not the place to go if your dog is anxious about grooming, or if you don't want to be hassled about buying extra products and services. read more

Very disappointed by the poor treatment and slow service of the grooming salon. I had made special requests twice to make sure that my elderly dog had water in her kennel between grooming phases. When I picked her up after 5 1/5 hours she was hobbling around and drank for 10 minutes straight as soon as we got home. I started going to Petsmart when my older dog got put on a prescription medicine. My vet told me they stocked it and gave me the prescription. The first time I went, I asked the assistant at the checkout how I should make the purchase. He was condescending and told me that I should just go get the bag and pay for it. So I thought that's how it worked. My dog ran out of food and I returned to buy another bag. I was told by another young employee that I needed the prescription. I went home, got it and returned later to try to buy the food again. Yet another young employee told me the prescription wasn't good enough and that I needed an additional card from the pharmacy there. At this point, I gave up, told her the employees needed better training and left -- as she tried to talk over me and repeated herself in a snotty tone of voice. I'll be ordering the prescription food through my vet (turns out it's cheaper from them anyway) and continue using Only Natural in Boulder for my other pet needs -- none of their employees are condescending teenagers on a power trip. read more

I really try to patronize the smaller, local businesses, but it is hard not love this particular mega-store. The staff is excellent - very knowledgeable and attentive, the selection is great and the prices are really reasonable. My dog has gone thru 4 training classes and the instructors (all happened to be named Lynn) are EXCELLENT, and very reasonably priced. I highly recommend them to all dog owners. I'm really pleased that they are now carrying high-end, natural pet foods! This store is always a treat for both me and my dog to visit and we will always be patrons...... though I will still patronize our wonderful local pet stores as well! :) read more

I must commend Eli for the excellent dog training service he provides at this store. He helped my very difficult puppy develop into an older puppy who can sit, stay down,, roll, come to my command and not jump or bite. He has great patience and certainly a gift that is incredible. Petsmart unfortunately has lost a customer due to the terrible customer service at Banfiled.

I wish there was zero star option or -5. Couple of weeks ago I came with a prescription from the vet for my dying dog. I had no problem getting the food. I came in to get the same more food and the staff wouldn't give me the food because I had to make a mandatory card with their store. I told them, ok no problem... Then they said sorry the computer is shut down (7.04pm) and can't do it (only until 7pm). I explained that I don't have any special food for dog for the night and if they could please give me at least one can to get her over the night... Keep in mind I explained them that my dog is in her last couple of days of life and she really needs this special food (she has pancreatic cancer and her glucose level goes down dramatically and she could just collapse dead). They behave pathetically rude and did not want to help me at all. Plus they made absolutely unprofessional comments to me. One of them she said she is the manager... As a manager you can really comply with this situation. I hope she just gets fired... This job is not for her or for the girl who was working at the hospital counter... They have no heart what's so ever. I told them if she dies, I will bring my dog to the store so they see what were the consequences for not giving me what I need for my dog. Thanks God we have other options... I went to a different pets store and I had no problem purchasing the special food. Maybe they don't care they lost a client but to be honest I don't even care if this store gets out of business. They deserve it. Right on front of me there was an older lady fighting with them for some discount coupon... So it look like they just like to do business that way. That woman no joke she left in tears... As I almost did too. I embarrassed myself in the store bagging them to let me purchase one can until I came back for the card the next morning. Shame on them! read more

Training at this facility is inconsistent. Trainer cancels the lessons even though I had showed up with my dog and other people didn't. They make you sign up and pay in advance, and they cancel on you all the time, making training very inconsistent. People answering the phone should go to classes on how to treat customers friendly on the phone. Other than that, Banfield Hospital is great, and the shopping at the store is great there too. read more

I recently moved to Boulder from Longmont, and I still drive all the way to Longmont for my pet needs. The Boulder location seems fine, but the staff who sell the pets are sub-par, at best. The two with goofy names (I think Prashoon and Kaelen) are okay, but the don't really seem to care about their jobs, the animals, or the customers. They just are...there. But, the guy named Danny is the reason I would rather go to Longmont or even Superior to go to a PetSmart. Danny has fed me straight lies regarding my reptiles- 'advice' that would more than likely kill them if I had heeded it. He acts completely pompous and arrogant. I'm not really sure what for, given the two conversations I had with him were completely devoid of any knowledge or truth whatsoever. I feel sorry for any people buying pets from him, as the animals are more than likely suffering and being inadequately cared for. I'm wondering what exactly the hiring process is for the staff at PetSmart if such a horrible person can be hired there, and not fired. Both times I complained to management about his serious lack of integrity regarding the welfare of animals- and he is still working there. You think he would be moved to a cashier position where the lives of animals wasn't in his hands. I would imagine the number of complaints against that jackass are monumental. read more
