The never heard of Petfinder and their mysterious, fake, and totally not legit promotion (notice gray banner at the top of the page)
    Mr And Mrs Nurse A.

I recently adopted a dog from the Tampa Bay SPCA located in Largo, FL, based on a listing I saw on Petfinder.com. There is a large banner and promotion on the Petfinder website for a starter kit if you adopt an animal. Adopted our dog on Sunday, signed up for kit through Petfinder on Monday, and on Tuesday, I went to the PetSmart on Gulf to Bay with my coupons (2 free bags of food, 20% off, etc etc) and was met with the rudest, nastiest service I've *ever* experienced. I got my free bag of food and some toys and went to the cashier. The cashier said that she didn't think she could take these coupons because there was a bunch of them that were fake. She called the manager who came up and, with one of the nastiest attitudes ever, didn't imply, didn't suggest, but outright stated that the coupons I had were fakes that I either faked myself or stole. She said she's never heard of "PetFinds" and there is no such promotion. She suggested I "get in touch with whoever sent you these coupons" and let them know they're fake. Yeah. Petfinder. Never heard of it. No idea where I"d get the notion that they have a FREE KIT FOR NEWLY ADOPTED PETS because gosh, it's not like it's RIGHT THERE ON THE WEBSITE. I pulled up the 2 emails I had gotten -- one from Petfinder on Monday with the link to the coupon, and another that came on Tuesday morning from Purina (the other sponsor of the program) reminding me to print my coupons. She said "yeah, those aren't real, those aren't real emails." She just kept telling me that they were fake, and that I was knowingly presenting fake coupons. I even offered to pull the coupons up on my phone and use them but she refused. Angered, I go home and call Petsmart customer service which, if nothing else, at least should be given mega kudos for hiring the profoundly disabled and otherwise unemployable. This shining star had never heard of PetFinding either and had no earthly idea what coupons I was talking about. None whatsoever. I said "trust me, this isn't some secret hidden thing. It's very prominent on the website. And the website is well known." She was skeptical but probably is only used to websites that advertise cartoons or that teach basic geometric shapes. So while I wouldn't have NOT adopted my awesome dog if I knew I was going to be called a thief and a liar by a night-manager at Petsmart, it would be nice if I wasn't treated like a toothless meth addict for presenting legitimate coupons from a legitimate website. I mean, I was getting a free bag of $12 dog food and a chew toy. Hardly clearing out the store and giggling at my ill-gotten gains. Horrible service, and as an aside, ridiculously overpriced.

after we brought him back home he seemed very stressed and itchy

I recently adopted 2 dogs that need to be professionally groomed. I've been taking Tank and Chewy to Petsmart for a couple months now. Mary is amazing. They come home so happy and cheerful I wish I could take them every week. I never feel anxious when I drop them off. All the staff is so helpful! Highly recommend!

This is the only PetSmart I'll go to! Everyone is very friendly and knowledgeable. The store is always clean and well stocked. They have the only grooming salon I'll trust with my dog. Mary is THE greatest groomer! She's been taking care of my dog since she was a puppy (she's 4 now) and I won't trust anyone else! Now that my grandparents also adopted a dog, of course we take her to see Mary for all of her grooming needs. Mary treats every animal like her own and she is so gentle, thorough, compassionate, hard-working, and loving! Truly the best! Thank you, Mary!!

Typical chain store....some overpriced and some moderately price low quality items. Independent pet stores are better, but much pricier too.

We've had dogs before, but we learned more in one session with Sharon than we did in a lifetime on our own. They can all lay beside each other and nothing bad happens. Yes, the training can look a bit rough, but that's because we haven't done training on any of our dogs and it was new to us. We gave her $3,860 for a 28 day program. From the beginning she knew we were going to be in Florida visiting family for 7 days during the time he was in Cheyenne's care. We gave her a collar with an airtag (she even commented on how it was a good idea). She assured us everything would be fine. We received videos of training every couple of days. On Monday, March 16th 2024 I received a phone call from Cheyenne who was frantic and said that she had lost our dog Luca. She said she went to go get water and left him outside in her fenced yard for no more than five minutes. He was not wearing the collar with the airtag we provided. I asked why and she stated because he was in a crate and they don't have them wear collars in the crate due to safety concerns. I understand and agree with the safety aspect, but every dog expert I talked to said he should have had his collar on the moment he was out of the crate. After looking at the training videos she sent me again Luca was not wearing his collar in any of them. At this point, she said she was unsure of how he got out but would inform me of what was going on. She later stated that one of the latches of the gate was flipped up and that's how she thinks he got out. I asked if she had cameras and she stated she did not. She posted on local Facebook groups and so did I. I was still in Florida at this time and reached out to Illinois Lost Dogs who assisted me in putting together a flyer which I sent to Cheyenne. I also had some family out looking for him and sending flyers. Throughout this search it was very clear that Cheyenne was not sure of what to do. I was communicating with ILD and they were providing guidance which I then communicated to Cheyenne. I was basically running dispatch from Florida. I did not sleep for the next 8 days. I would message Cheyenne every morning and normally it took about an hour to get back which she stated she had to take care of other dogs at her facility and then would flyer and do what was needed. She did send several texts that she couldn't express how sorry she was and she would find Luca and "do right by us". I never wrote anything negative about her or her facility until now. I had my brother looking in the area (which he missed time from work in order to do so), I had a family friend volunteer her time with a scent tracking dog, and was constantly on socail media tracking sighting. We had a few sightings here and there. Cheyenne did find a drone operator whom she paid the first time. On Wednesday Cheyenne texted me that she was still willing to help, but that she had spent over 1k to search for him and couldn't financially do anymore. My family and I had spent over 2k at this point ourselves (plus the cost of the training), but I said I understood. Through talking with different organizations they said that it did not seem that Cheyenne was equipped to handle the situation and that I needed to take over the search. We cut our vacation short (not that we were able to enjoy it anyways) and spent $1,500 to get a last minute flight to go home. Once we arrived home Cheyenne let me know that she would help as she could, but would be deferring to me to lead the search. We came home early Thursday morning and were basically out all day every day until he was found Monday. When we arrived at the facility on Thursday, Cheyenne was out getting lunch and left Luca's stuff on a table outside of the door of the facility. Upon inspection, we found there was a hole at the back of the fence (picture below). I will be honest, I did not disclose this to her until later because I did not want it to affect us finding Luca. I bought flyers, 4 drone flights, multiple cameras, and supplies. Cheyenne did say she would help as she could, but something happened with the tire on her car. There were days during our search where I did not hear from her until I messaged her. Thankfully we were able to find Luca. Including the training, flight home, and various expenses we were out over 10k. When we first discussed repayment, she disclosed that her insurance lapsed because she didn't get a notice from her insurance company, in my opinion that's the responsibility of the business owner. She was able to somehow get it reinstated, but had no clue regarding her coverage or how it worked. She also was shocked when I said there was a hole in the fence. She still feels that he got out by lifting the latch but agreed that it was not suitable for a training facility and was in the process of replacing it. We ended up receiving a little over $4,800 for our expenses but was told her business was likely closing as a result. She has refused to do anymore. EDIT: Cheyenne is blatantly lying that we asked for 10k in pain and suffering so I have included an email where I actually said I was willing to take less than our expenses.
