I wish I could rate the grooming separate from the store, because my rating is for the grooming only. I normally go somewhere else in town but couldn't schedule an appt for the time I needed this time around. Annoyed by the misrepresentation of services on the web site vs in store. And the costs outlined between the 2 as well. I paid way less in California plus tip for the same services. Not sure if tipping is even an option at this location, either way I'd never tip for the overpriced services here. The staff all seemed either extremely annoyed or were pandering to the annoyed. I hate that happening in front of customers. Clean your dirty laundry behind closed doors. Overall the grooming quality was good so I couldn't completely trash the rating, but I won't be back if I can help it. read more

Store is good but my review is for grooming. Before I was satisfied with the grooming service here. I have a goldendoodle but her fur is wavy and not curly (more like a golden retriever.) The first time I came they waived the extra brushing fee because my dog's hair is not curly (and her fur is in good condition, not matted or anything.) Today, I was charged the extra 10 dollars for brushing and an extra 20 dollar for "scissoring fee." I asked that they cut my dog's fur for a half inch so I don't know what they are scissoring. Overall, I paid 30 extra dollars from what I was expecting. read more

Was going to buy goldfish or minnows for a small 1.5 gallon tank. The kid working there stood there arms crossed refusing to sell me anything because they think my tank is too small. My special needs child went up to them to ask about a fish and they said "get away from me" we left immediately. We got our fish elsewhere, and my kid learned that some people are just rude. We went to the register and the cashier started a long speech about how I'm unethical because I'm buying a bowl for a beta fish. I was a loyal customer here since moving here about 8 years ago, but they lost my business today. I have a 4 lb Pomeranian. It normally cost over $100 with a tip ($20), but I was ok because they did a decent job and it was convenient because I take him to Banfield. However the grooming was often inconsistent, depending on who you get. And over the past few months it's become increasingly difficult to book. If you need an appointment the weekend you're booking, forget it. I had my appointment today for more than a week. I planned my entire weekend around it. My husband is TDY (out of town) this weekend, and I was running behind (because I had to jump my car). And at 5 minutes after, I called to let them know I was running late. I've never missed an appointment or been late here. They asked how much later, and I told them 10 minutes and they said that was fine. I got there 17 minutes after my scheduled time and was sternly told by Jazzy that she couldn't take him because she needed to start him at exactly 10 am and would need to reschedule him. (Would've been nice to know that when I called.) So I left, and I'll never be back. Im sure I don't appreciate the complexities of scheduling, but I've seen them take my dog to the back and he's waited while other dogs were being finished before. I've been a good customer for years so to be shown no grace the one time I was late just isn't somewhere I need to be a patron of. So, if you're looking for a place that is reasonably priced, is easy to schedule with and takes care of their customers, keep moving. There are plenty of other groomers along the Powers corridor and I already have another appointment in less than 30 minutes. read more

I took my two dogs here for grooming because they had an opening. I wish I had waited, because soon afterwards one of my dogs started chewing at her paw. One expensive trip to the dermatologist later revealed she had picked up a virus, which caused an infection in her toe. She is on antibiotics and pain meds for it. Thanks, PetDumb. Other problems with the grooming salon: Poor intake system-it is extremely difficult to have multiple dogs in their tiny "lobby". I arrived a few minutes early, and no other dogs were inside. However, they would not take my dogs, because the groomer (who is the only one who can take them in?) wasn't there yet. So I had to wait and walk around the store until she arrived. Oh yeah...guess who was late to work that day? My dogs' groomer, that's who. When they did call me to bring them in, many other dogs had arrived and other parents to pick up their dogs, too. So, I had to wait some more outside until they could clear some room. They also didn't do that good of a job. They left one of my dogs' ears unplucked, and the cut was choppy and uneven. Also, they were excessively more expensive than others, because if my dogs needed something, it was only available in a "package" that cost loads more than it should have. I am never going back, and I will spread the word to others from choosing to get their pets groomed here. read more

This place is TERRIBLE. They did a HACK JOB, of a haircut on my 4 month old puppy, who now looks 12. They charged us for a full cut and bath for a trim around her eyes. They said she was squirmy/scared/biting-fine, but why did they continue and then cut?? Why wouldn't you stop if it's "unsafe" for both the groomer and dog? They chose to keep cutting. The manager Nicky agreed to a full refund and the manager Ron refused to give us the refund. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PETS HERE. I waited a total of 26 minutes on HOLD, to speak to someone and it took me SIX times to call them before I could have a full conversation with a manager. They did a great job grooming but charged me a handling fee because my dog moved to much. Omg you get your anal glands squeezed and see if you move. I felt uneasy with the groomer,Candace, and I should not have left my dog. I should have cancelled all the extras right after she said I may charge a $10 handling fee if he is difficult. My dog has been being groomed for 5 years and I have never been charged a handling fee. $$$$ is all it was about today and a pathetic groomer that could not handle my small dog that moved. Her reasoning in writing was "super cute but today was not his day for grooming he tried his best though" wow what a reason for charging extra. I swear on my life that my dog is so easy going, he is a lap dog and was a therapy dog a For a little girl for several years. No handling charge needed just a new groomer. read more

The manger was very apologetic and refunded the cost of the dogs who's cut was terrible. While I appreciate the customer service, I can not recommend this store for hiring such an awful groomer and letting a dog come out like that without acknowledging the error. read more

I usually don't go to petsmart but ever since I've stepped foot in this store, I've received nothing but positive, friendly encounters. Whether it is buying dog food, treats or even pet training, my experience here has always been phenomenal. Five stars to the staff for always being attentive when I come in and are always willing to ask if I need help with anything. The main reason that I'm leaving this positive review is because of the dog training. Since day one, I've explained to Richard that my corgi puppy got into a fight with my other dog and was frustrated with the behaviors I encountered. Richard explained different solutions at that very moment without even pushing me to purchase any of his classes. After thinking about it, I decided to go ahead and enroll my puppy into all three courses (puppy, intermediate and advanced). After starting puppy class, my corgi has gotten SO MUCH better in his obedience with me. Richard has taught me so much in such little time and every time I walk through those doors with Hero, he tells me that I'm going to hit a home run with my dog and encourages me during the classes. He has so much faith in these dogs that he trains and you can just tell that he cares about his job. Fast forward to now, Hero is a good canine citizen and will be on his way to start therapy training in February. People may think that Richard is loud or too obnoxious but he's just blunt and he speaks the truth! Think about it... would you rather have a loud, confident dog trainer or a timid, shy and quiet trainer? Most dog owners enroll their dogs into these courses thinking that Richard will do all the work and that their dogs will be perfect overnight then they get all pissed because it's not the outcome they want. GOOD DOGS TAKE WORK AND CONSISTENCY FROM THEIR OWNERS! Richard is just that stepping stone to help YOU train your dogs. He is one of the best dog trainers in the country and is working 24/7 training dogs. I highly recommend him if you are looking into enrolling your dogs or new puppy in his courses. We've waited 3 weeks to get our dog into be groomed.. When my daughter tried to drop him off today they wouldn't accept him because his shot record was handwritten. The Vet's name and clinic phone number were on the record! The professional thing to do would've been to call the vet. Instead they turned our dog away. I called to find out what the problem was and she told me she couldn't accept the record because it could've been transferred to another dog! Excuse me, a shot record doesn't come with a picture ID! I've had a fish tank set up for years with aggressive fish. I currently have 1 frog in my tank (that was purchased from here) and went to purchase another one. The sales associate said she had to get a manager and the manager refused to sell me the frog. I said I understand your recommendations, but I already have 1 frog and over 30 years of having tanks I've always had frogs with my aggressive fish. Consistent experience with this location is that checking out is ALWAYS a long process. Regardless of what time I shop here there is always a line at the registers. On a positive, the isles are clean, orderly and well stocked with product. Had my puppy enrolled in 3 AKC classes here and can't say one bad thing about the class or instructor. Richard is an amazing trainer and truly loves what he does. Your puppy will 100% leave with some awesome tricks and better behavior at a great value. read more

We go here for grooming, dog training and dog treats/toys. We've been pleased so far with everything except the grooming - which was more my fault than anything. We have a labradoodle which they groomed as a standard poodle. Needless to say, we didn't appreciate a poodle looking puppy with a bandana around his neck. Maybe it's just the man in me but I felt bad for my male dog. Training is effective but I wish the classes were bigger - maybe if they combined more of them that would work better. We are learning a lot and are very pleased with our trainer and her methods. Despite what happened the first time, I will probably take him back here to be groomed. Great dog training program. Aracely is wonderful. But i will never take my dog to get groomed here again. They never call me to let me know she is ready and they always do a horrible job. Specifically wanted her nails trimmed and they didn't even do it, yet when we took her home she let us cut them just fine. Her hair was not brushed and she barley smelt clean. We refused to pay for un done job and they held our dog hostage until we did. We ended up paying 35 for literally them doing nothing. read more

The store itself gets 4 stars for the wide selection and decent prices. The grooming however is more like 4.5 stars, they are great! We have two English Bulldogs and the groomers always do a wonderful job with them. Our older one isn't a fan of the nail grinder but she always gets him to sit still and let her grind his nails (must have a magic touch). The other nice thing is that if you just want your dog's nails ground down you can walk in anytime and just wait while they do it. Normally it is best to go late morning/mid-day. My review is more so a complaint against PetSmart as an organization as opposed to this individual location. I have always had positive experiences with employees at this facility and appreciate that greatly. However, I recently purchased a few African Dwarf Frogs here and to my dismay, they only survived a couple of days. Mind you, I have owned these types of frogs all throughout my childhood and teenage years and each lived to be close to 12 years old. I am familiar with the living conditions and care of these little critters. When we went to the store to have our water tested after their untimely deaths, there was two entire tanks full of dead or close to dead frogs. We counted about 10 dead frogs and there were 2 clinging to life. We confronted an employee about this and were informed that this happens with every batch of frogs that the cooperation purchases due to bad breeding, genetics, and fungal/bacterial infections running rampant. It is so disappointing that the stores continue to purchase these animals and sell them, thereby further perpetuating this issue and a very sad and short life of these little creatures. I am very disheartened. read more

I've noticed from other reviewers that this particular store is extremely lacking in customer service. Unfortunately, yesterday was the last straw for us and we will never spend another dime at any Petsmart location! We came in to pick up a few grooming supplies for our Chow, and our cashier was very rude from the very start of the transaction. After spending nearly $70.00 dollars the cashier wanted to know if I wanted the receipt emailed to me. I told her, no I would like the receipt the regular way. After the transaction was complete she handed me the bag and said, here you go. No "Thank you", or "Have a nice day", just here you go. I stood there waiting for the receipt as she started to ring up the next person in line, so I said, where is my receipt? She snapped back at me and said, you chose to have it emailed! I told her no, I told you I wanted a regular receipt. She then printed out a duplicate and slapped it in the palm of my hand. I stood there in absolute shock and amazement at this person's behavior! I looked at her and said, Really??? She just gave me an extremely dirty look and continued to help the people behind us. Her behavior was so uncalled for and we definitely didn't deserve it. I'm not a violent person at all, but I really wanted to just smack her right in the mouth! She was a very nasty, ugly person and should not work in customer service! We have dealt with bad customer service many times at this location, but this was the worst. I did not catch her name, it shows on my receipt we had Community Cashier 553847. Our next stop was Big R, where I found the type of dog food I buy at a cheaper price, and I found all the grooming supplies were also cheaper than Petsmart. I thought about taking the items back to Petsmart for a refund, but I didn't want there to be a scene, so lesson learned! Plus, the cashier at Big R was extremely friendly!!! Most of us know PetSmart if we truly love our animals. It doesn't carry everything. But it has the primary things I use for my animals. I watch the sales. The people at this store are quite nice and have gone well out of their way to assist me in finding what I need. Overall I can recommend this store. Not really a 5 but a 4.5. So I rounded up on them. No one is truly perfect. But at this store they will even check to see what's on the next truck and other stores when they are out of stock. read more

Love this store for pet supplies BUT as far as grooming- horrible. They don't know how to properly groom doodles. They don't follow instructions when it comes to asking them what to and not to trim and just trim as they please. I said it was fine for the groomer to round out the bottom of my puppy's paws and instead she trimmed them all over and VERY uneven. It looks like my 3 year old trimmed her, that's how bad it is. She shaved the top of my dogs nose when I only said to trim the inner corners of her eyes. I won't be bringing my dog back to get groomed here. Sucks because the groomer was super sweet. read more

The selection is definitely hard to beat. The prices are basically as low as you can get... But, let's face it. This is "average pet Wal-Mart". So, if all you care about is a large slightly lower price than you would get by supporting a local pet shop this is for you. However, I care about what goes into the business... How the customers are treated, how happy the employees are, and the over-all health of the living creatures. Customer service seems to always be lacking. Today my cashier sounded like it was her worst day ever, and a lady working in the fish department rolled her eyes at me and walked away after walking up to me while I was on the phone, simply because I told her I didn't know what I needed. I just needed help... My kids wanted to look at the fish, and I caved and let them even though I know the trauma they all go through just to arrive at Petsmart, let alone the health care they get and amount of stress all the living things endure here. I counted 32 dead fish/snails/frogs/shrimp.... and most of the dead were being eaten, which means they've been there for a while or the live ones aren't being fed. Petsmart is gross. Please, use the search bar on YELP and look up local pet supply stores or local fish/reptilian specialists. I personally recommend "Pet Pantry" or "Scales 'n Tails". read more

My wife made an appointment for our dogs to be groomed last Saturday. The appointment was confirmed the Wednesday prior by the grooming staff. When we arrived we were greeted by a rude worker like we were inconveniencing her day. We then discovered they had the wrong page in their appointment book open when they wrote our appointment down and said we were scheduled for next Saturday. They said they could "fit us in" around 5 pm if that was good for us, even though they confirmed with us three days earlier. Why should we be flexible for their incompetence? This was also the third time in a row they have screwed up our appointment for grooming. We love Banfield and the store manager is super nice but we will NEVER take our dogs to be groomed at this location again. The first time I brought my two dogs in for grooming they told me they where bad so I said I would bring them more often , the second time I've i was told they where angles and did great so I continued to use them a third fourth and so on .... booking with the same person this last time I took them in she told me my dogs weren't fit for grooming and that I should take them some where else .... when I told her well that's strange cause they have been fine except for the first time then and then she said well you should book them then with some one they click with...... I was like yea fine and left to the front to pay when I realized one of my dogs was completely bald between the eyes!!!!!! I book my appointments on line always with the same person .... I don't know what's going on over there but we won't be going back ... she basically fired my dogs... if they were being bad why didn't they just call she totally messed up my dogs face and then blamed my dogs!!!! So ... it didn't look like her fault Your a groomer maybe don't groom dogs! And remember your clients ! Build relationships with the animals and humans that bring them in! read more

This has been the second time I've been in with our pet for grooming.I can understand being late (10-15 minutes late) I am a working adult.Long story short, I was in with my dog to check in (late) and the girl barely greeted me and she had an attitude and was rude. I would have understood being told I'm sorry but because it went over the 10-15 minute grace period I have to work him in but it would take additional time.The rudeness I "do not" tolerate especially being in customer service myself, unacceptable! Not to mention how a person like this would handle my dog (family member) while in her care? No. I will now go back to wag N'wash who has never been rude or short with me and treats my pet like they would a person. Sad. read more

This review is for the grooming Department. I took my dog there several months ago and had a couple of special requests. When I picked up my dog those special requests had been ignored and the groomer acted like he was high on drugs. This last time I took my dog in, it was with a different groomer and I remember her name "MORGAN" because she did even worse than the guy I thought was on drugs. My advice is do not use Morgan because you will not get your money's worth and I would not trust her with the care of my dog. I will not be using Petsmart for grooming any longer. read more
