    Dancing Creek Farm

    Dancing Creek Farm

Some six months ago, our dog Max, a four-year old Beagle, was a morbidly obese dog and causing…read moreproblems around our apartment complex due to his issues with house training. Despite our different attempts to get him healthy and to properly train him in all the most basic of dog skills, it was quite evident that we needed to reach out to caring professionals who could help all of us. Ultimately, this meant temporarily placing him in a situation which would help us help him return to the healthy little 8-week puppy we loved with all our hearts. My wife and I, and of course, Max, needed a fresh start to get back on the path toward a healthy lifestyle. I researched the issue and found out about a viable solution, Dancing Creek Farm, a long-term boarding and training located outside of Danville, Virginia. So, we made the difficult decision to hand over the responsibilities of Max's health and general well-being to Tamara and Dakota and the rest of the Dancing Creek team to provide Max the means of not only shedding his unhealthy weight, but also to go back to the drawing board to relearn how to follow commands and improve his self-control and discipline. I did the communicating with Dancing Creek throughout Max's stay and saw that Dancing Creek was not just a viable solution, but a godsend for Max. I could see that Tamara and Dakota understood dogs and how to give them the help they needed, whatever that might be. In the four months that Max was at Dancing Creek, the wonderful team of Tamara and Dakota, the owners of Dancing Creek Farm, and their staff, helped Max lose thirty-two pounds and trained him to improve his discipline and self-control. They crafted a diet and exercise plan unique to Max, which surely couldn't have been easy when caring for eighty other dogs. It turned his life around. He's never been happier. We've been back home with Max for a week and see a more confident, better-trained dog who has a new lease on life. This is making a huge difference, not just in Max's life, but in the functioning of our family. We've gotten to know Tamara and Dakota through Max's journey. We really respect their dedication to the animals and the hard work they put into to the health and well-being of the dogs at Dancing Creek. Tamara and Dakota and Team really care about this work. That really matters. In fact, it makes all the difference. Because of our gratitude, we will certainly be keeping track of all the other dogs at Dancing Creek. In addition, we want to thank the Dancing Creek community. They rallied around Max during his journey and supported him and us. We are so appreciative of the love they showed Max. (I can't tell you how much we enjoyed the Facebook, IG videos and photos that chronicled Max's journey.) We are also so excited for Dancing Creek, as they plan to spread their love for dogs with a non-profit for dogs who are of an advanced age. In conclusion, from Tamara and Dakota to the staff who worked so hard, we can never repay what you given Max and our family. It goes without saying that not all aspects of working with dogs is glamorous,as any pet owner knows. The DCF Team has shown that the work they do in this rural southern Virginia community is more to them than work. It's a calling to serve. This calling serves both the dogs and their owners. We thank you and salute you all#Namaste

The cabins are not only heated and cooled but incredibly spacious. The grounds are extremely well taken care of and provide ample running space for pups during their outings. And the people who work here are so incredibly caring. I feel thankful every day that we have found this amazing space. My moms dogs have been here since around May of 2025 and they are so loved and taken care of, it helps ease our hearts knowing how well they are being treated at Dancing Creek Farm. If you need a long or short term boarding, this is absolutely the best place to go.

I took my 6 year old German shepherd in because I thought he had an abscess on his butt. First off, I was charged $69.50 for a six month preventive care exam, and an additional $46.50 for an urgent care fee. Dr. Smith looked at the mass on my dogs butt, he did not touch it, he did not listen to the dogs heart, he did not look in the dogs eyes, or ears. He basically took $116 to view-at a distance- the mass. Ok, i give the dog the meds and take him back in for a checkup about a week later. Once again, Dr. Smith just looks-at a distance-and it is decided that we need to remove the mass. Great, surgery is scheduled for a couple of days from then. once again, the visit costs $69.50, and Dr. Smith has yet to put hands on my dog. Keep reading.....it gets better. Surgery day arrives, I take in my dog, drop him off, all is good. I head to work and get a call from Sarah Dalton, who informs me that there was a miscommunication and the office needs the high end of the estimate paid in full prior to them doing the dog's surgery. the estimation was anywhere from $1,569.33 to $2,263.33. We were told we had to have the money there before 8am. I have never heard of this being done before and it kind of shocked me. So, I called my son and he called in with his care credit. Sarah told him his account didn't exist. My kid was a bit upset because the account exists and she was harassing him for the money. He went in to pick up the dog. when he got there he was informed by Sarah that she felt we could not pay for the surgery......hmmm, discrimination, yup. I didn't know that Sarah Dalton had access to any of our accounts. we took the dog to Mount Hermon ---who I highly recommend--- to get the surgery that was needed. we found out that it is a bleeding probably cancerous tumor that she could not take off due to the area and the depth. She sent us to Greensboro oncology, they couldn't get us in for 3 weeks. So we made a decision to go back to this horrible place to have the tumor removed and let the poor dog have some sort of life with the little time remaining. We called and scheduled surgery. Oh, keep reading, cause it shows what these people are all about. I get a call on Monday after a very tough weekend, from none other than Sarah Dalton. She tells me that they are terminating our relationship due to the past inciden. Yup, you know the one where money was the most important part, and I was too poor to afford the surgery. I finish my workday and stop by their office on my way home. I ask to speak to Dr. Smith, who tells me that my son was disrespectful to his office staff, who sent a bleeding dog with a tumor on it butt home. DISRESPECTFUL, his staff declared us unable to PAY. SARAH DALTON and Dr. Smith are disrespectful to animals and their owners. HOW DARE SOME TWINKY DECIDE WHAT I CAN PAY FOR. THANK YOU SARAH DALTON. DON'T take you animals here, and tell everyone the same. Mount Harmon is great, take them there.

They lie about dogs being spayed or neutered. They don't care about your dogs as long as they get money and don't care if they feed medication or harm the dogs with unnecessary procedures which they don't discuss with you at all, they just do it and expect you to pay for something that your dog didn't need. They just want your money and your pets are how they take from you. They'll lie about shots that you know your dog had, then guilt you to confuse you into trying to give your dogs the shots again. This has been going on for so long, I seriously do not like or trust these people. They will lie about the humane society and blame them for your rescue dogs just to get money. They don't respect the human society vouchers and will try to circumvent them by claiming there is something else wrong with your dog just so they can dismiss the voucher for a free physical and make you pay for a four hundred dollar bill your dog didn't need.

His grown Dogs are in horrible conditions outside in dirt and poop small gravel dirt enclosure.. those poor German Shepard puppies I can't even describe it. He is so unemotional with his dogs and clearly stated to me dogs aren't allowed in the house because it's just a job to him. I asked if the dogs were health tested and he told me they were. He showed me some document that unfortunately I was too uninformed to read. I specifically asked about DCM and Vons disease; he said they weren't carriers. He told me if I paid in full he would allow me to have second pick as someone paid in full before me. THEN he told me he classified himself as a back yard breeder after I paid. I told him I wanted a brown Doberman puppy. The litter was born and only one was Brown. He told me the other family didn't want brown and specifically said that I could have the brown one. so for the next two months I sat on a life dream being accomplished. The night before going to get the puppy he called me saying the dog was picked up?! Why would you not remove the chosen puppy from the group when people are selecting their own. DOESNT MAKE SENSE! he broke my heart that first round. I needed a vet to do the cropping so I went to his vet and THEY LEGIT TOLD ME THIS GUY is not a good breeder. . but to late I already paid so what was I supposed to do. He makes people pick up the dogs at 6 weeks even though scientific evidence shows 8 weeks is like top priority for behavior and overall health. Then I go pick up my puppy and he won't let me see where mom and the puppies were just said that the pup was the last one left and gave him to me full of poop. we took staged photos in his house and we were pissed but had to play nice because there was no refunds. I then found out he only had one ball and the other never dropped. this is a genetic strait passed down he should have known about based on multiple vets opinion. Now puppy needs invasive surgery to remove the testicle that ne ver dropped. its called Cryptorchidism. Then I got the dog tested and he is a carrier for DCM. start to finish every time I bring up a concern, he starts being rude and pointing the finger back at me. Buy your dog somewhere else.
