Dr. Alshouse is THE BEST. Best, best, BEST! If you have a four legged child you should be bringing…read moreit to Spring Oaks to see Dr. Alshouse. I've been bringing my pup here for probably about 9 years. I've never had a set veterinarian here as usually I am assigned to whoever is available during the appointment time I've selected-- I definitely will always be requesting Dr. Alshouse from this point forward. I ended up here Saturday at 9am for an emergency visit after spending the wee hours of the morning with my pup, Lily, at the Emergency vet. Friday evening she was a bit lethargic, vomited some clear liquid a couple of times *graphic bit coming* and then she had blood start pouring from her butt. An obscene amount of blood. I, of course, panicked and took her to the emergency vet. They did what they could, but told me she needed to come to her regular vet first thing in the morning for more fluids and tests (emergency vet closes at 7am). I phoned Spring Oaks at 8am while en route from Orlando (where we reside) and told the receptionist the situation. She informed me that they were quite busy and that I could come, but there would likely be a long wait. I was thinking "did she not hear me say that the emergency vet said her heart could stop?!" That phone call was pretty much the only "negative" to the experience. I understand that schedules are tight, so I understood her position in not being thrilled to have someone coming in which could throw off the schedule. However, as a mom my only priority was my pup. When I arrived the room was already ready for us and we went in and met with Dr. Alshouse. Even though I had been informed of the tight schedule situation, I never felt at all rushed by Dr. Alshouse. I could see that she was quite concerned over Lily's state. The situation was a lot more severe than I had expected and Dr. Alshouse said Lily would need to be hospitalized for a minimum of 48 hours. Three hours at the emergency vet cost $1200, so when I heard 48 hours of hospitalization I couldn't help but slightly panic over the associated costs. They came back with the projected cost - about $1100 I believe - and said that a 50% deposit would be needed. I was shocked that she could stay in a pet hospital with supervision for 48+ hours for less than 3 hours at the emergency vet! Dr. Alshouse gave us a few extra mins to say goodbyes, etc and informed me that they close at 2 on Saturday, but that I should feel free to come back to visit before that. I went back around 1:15 and all of the staff were very friendly and let me visit with Lily without interruption or making me feel at all rushed. I really needed that extra visit and greatly appreciated it. Dr. Alshouse also made arrangements with me to visit Lily the following day, and gave me several updates throughout her stay via voicemail and even a picture text. Which, again, I really needed and appreciated. Dr. Alshouse took her time when explaining medical related items, answered all my questions, never made me feel like her time with us was limited and really went so far above and beyond. I felt like Lily was in some sort of VIP boutique pet hospital. It was a horrific experience and I really was unsure of the outcome, but knowing that Lily was in Dr. Alshouse's care made it a lot less stressful. I truly believed that Dr. Alshouse would do anything she could to save Lily and to make her stay as comfortable as possible. I've never met a more caring, nurturing or kind veterinarian. My only wish is that she took two legged patients also! A huge thank you to everyone in the practice who cared for Lily during her stay. Everyone's kindness is much appreciated.

I brought him back for x-rays the next day. it showed an enlarged heart, grade 4 heart murmur, lungs were clear, liver was enlarged. He wanted blood work that would be back Monday. Dr Krudop would be out of town until Wednesday but he'd leave notes in the file. My pup was having trouble breathing and his tongue was turning blue. took him to urgent care Saturday and they heard crackles in his lungs we got a lasix shot and pills. I left multiple messages for Dr. Jackson to discuss the blood tests Monday. He finally called back in the late afternoon. He wasn't too concerned about the lungs and said my pup didn't need lasix. I asked what he thought about the enlarged liver and he said "he's a Yorkie that's normal." He said Dr. Krudop would be back Wednesday if I have any other concerns.

Normally we would have had him groomed sooner but due to the Covid outbreak we waited longer, and some of the matting on the ears got bad. Outside of that I ordered him to get the same trimming as before, and not be cut or shaved. Even by the American Kennel Club, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels should not be cut/shaved! What this woman did is unforgivable and downright despicable. When I came to pick up our dog he no longer looked like a Cavalier, but more like a Pug. His hair was cut extremely short when there was no need to do so! They shaved parts of his legs down to the skin. On parts of the head they shaved his hair so far down that you can see scalp. In some parts it appears that so much force was used in pushing down the clippers that our dog has some abrasions. Also, it appears that his nails were cut too short on some, and a little bleeding occurred but stopped. They even cut away his beautiful flowing tail hair that are symbols of Cavaliers. I asked this woman (apparently the owner Cheryl by doing a little research) why she DID NOT CALL ME FIRST BEFORE DOING SOMETHING I DIDN'T ORDER!!!! Her excuse was to cite how many Cavaliers she has cut before. THAT'S NOT A REASON!!! We can see the broad strokes in his fur, that come from harsh use of clippers. I am no oversensitive person that takes things out of a normal context, but one, knowingly cutting back a dog like this, two, when there is no need, three, you weren't ordered to do so, and four, when you shouldn't because experts say you shouldn't do so, is in my book is REPREHENSIBLE!!! By cutting him back like this our dog's fur can now grow back even thicker and that is not good for the animal. These special dogs need their fur and cutting it back like this is detrimental to the animal. It is obvious to me; she does not care. During the discussion about this disgraceful job she did cutting our dog, she proceeded to bring up a topic that had no bearing on the issue at hand. The sign of the arrogant person's tactic to turn the discussion around to allay and redirect one's own guilt. She tried to dictate to me regarding the neutering of our pet. I totally concur with spaying and neutering pets on most terms, but we have not done so for reasons that are of no concern to anyone else, especially this haughty woman. I would not trust this company with your pet! If she is a professional and judging by the job she did and her behavior, then she needs to retire! You cannot trust a company when its own owner does not comply with a customer's wishes, and or use simple basic standards in customer service. If the owner acts this way, then tell me how can you trust the employees she hires? They will be carbon copies of her. If she had simply called me in advance, and stated that she was going to do this, then I would have said NO!!! This was so unnecessary! No apologies, just excuses. Now in retrospect and looking more deeply in some of the online reviews, I can see others had the same issues as we did. Most of the positive reviews that were posted before mine, are simple one-line statements with little detail, which make me wonder how many are truly valid. You cannot trust people like this, especially when arrogance blinds them so much, that they cannot to do simple things properly, and then own up to them. Once again, if she had simply called me in advance, and stated that she was going to do this, then I would have said NO!!! Instead of showing any humility she started acting arrogantly and brashly. You cannot forgive this kind of behavior or action. There is no way to make up for them. STAY AWAY, YOU WON'T REGRET IT AND NEITHER WILL YOUR DOG!!!

I kept asking for the vet because this is not how it goes. My poor baby suffered so bad for the last 10 minutes of her life. When he came back in with the vet my poor suffering baby tried to get under my husband's legs but all she could do was move her head but he came over and pinned her head to the floor while the vet came in and killed her. My poor baby suffered so badly the last 10 minutes of her life because this guy who calls himself a nurse tortured her. He tortured her.
