Today is my dog's birthday and coming here is always my first choice. I found a pup-pie, birthday lamb squeak toy, and a princess biscuit. Some of the treats were on sale for mix and match so I got a few of those. Chelsea was so helpful with all the questions I had. She also helped me log in to the PetSmart website and went through my benefits so I could get the most points for all of my purchases today. I paid alot of money to have my cat groomed & bathed. He is a long haired domestic He was only half groomed you see where she stopped. Never trimmed nails which caused nails to grow into foot pads & become infected. His belly was never dried or brushed. Shame on you Star. Didn't realize till I got him out of the carrier at home. Mean PetSmart is pretty much I don't know if it's the only pet store in the area but everybody's great there. The service is good. They have good deals variety products. They offer a grooming and washing for dogs. Great variety of animals too. I think I've seen chinchillas at various reptiles birds fish, lots of fish sometimes cats, but you know all the products associated with them whether it be behavioral devices for dogs to like health things , allergy products. Employee "Star" is a serious issue. She decides to just "not groom" dogs for personal reasons? This was our second appointment with her that she just canceled last second wasting us a 40 minutes drive and another appointment we had scheduled during the service. She was rude, she was rough with our puppy, and I don't think she should be allowed near animals. (or people for that matter). I thought I recognized her name, and then realized "Star" is a groomer that once tried to groom our older dog (abusively, when he became frightened) years ago. I can't recall if she was working for Petsmart or another local groomer, but how many dog groomers have this name and coincidentally a consistent issue with job performance? No longer a customer - no more fish, grooming, nothing. We were long-time customers too. I contacted the store manager and she was equally as reliable. Just avoid at all costs. read more

I paid $179 plus cash tip to get my dog groomed, only to bring her home and realized after she was dried that she was never brushed. I had to brush out all of her undercoat (the reason I brought her there to begin with). I called the very next day and was told I would need to come in person for a partial refund. When I showed up to get a refund, I waited for half hour only to be told by the manager on duty that they didn't have authority to grant me any type of refund or gift card/credit. Bought the largest dog crate they had. Two employees watched me (51f) struggle to get it to the register. The cashier's attitude left a bit to be desired, and I carried it out & loaded it in my car alone with no offer of help. We had an incredible experience! Our dog got sprayed with a skunk and we brought him in the next morning. Everyone was so friendly and didn't seem annoyed about the smell of our dog. Michaela did an incredible job with our dog, who was getting his first bath. She took incredible care with him and made a negative experience better for us. All the other staff were so nice! We were visiting our daughter in New York. We had just moved across the country and then drove to New York. Our two fur babies needed groomed. We have used petsmart for years. We got an appointment to have them groomed. Our Maltese was groomed really cute but who ever groomed our Bichon did a terrible job. Wo cuts all the hair off the tail of a bichon??? Ithaca has three pet stores in the town's vicinity, not counting vet's offices and services that sell a small selection of supplies. This being said, I enrolled my American Eskimo puppy at Petsmart for puppy training classes, and made occasional purchases of items I couldn't find at Ithaca Pet and Grain (the only pet store in Ithaca that doesn't sell animals). Although Petsmart stores across the nation are currently under fire for purchasing birds from a Central Florida breeder that were infected with Psittacosis, I have to commend the staff at Ithaca's Petsmart for their helpfulness, concern, and extraordinary skill in customer service. My puppy trainer, Justin, was amazing and is sorely missed. He had a connection with Evo and with the students and other dogs in class. Justin was extremely engaging and I always looked forward to Monday night's training class. Even though Evo did extremely well, Justin made sure that we were learning and practicing our tricks. Evo, his sister Echo, and I felt like celebrities every time we visited the store. The staff got to know us and many of the girls adored Evo. We were enrolled in Intermediate training when we moved, and the store's manager was wonderful enough to give us store credit so that we could move our class to a Petsmart in Colorado. I have to admit, no other Petsmart has lived up to the store in Ithaca. Maybe I'm partial, but I wish I could have brought everyone with me. I know Evo misses his friends at the store, and I still miss having fun with the other dogs and Justin in class! read more

I have no idea where all the glorious reviews come from about this store. I'll tell you about my most recent experience. I called this morning 5/27/2015 around 9:30 a.m. because I wanted to find out if this big store carried a couple of things I needed. First, a woman by the name of Stephanie answered and hanged up on me, pretending as though she could not hear me. I tried calling again. Second time, a guy answered whose name I could barely make out, he also pretended as though he couldn't hear me and hanged up almost immediately. Enraged, I called the third time, and Stephanie answered again. She could obviously hear me loud and clear this time, as I mentioned her name at the beginning of the conversation. This big store that _seems_ to carry everything did _not_ have anything I was looking for. So I'm turning online for it (a Fluval filter part). They also do not carry a cat food I wanted to buy (Canidae cat grain free) so I'm turning to Ithaca Pets & Grain (much better alternative. Feel good shopping at a local shop, and get no stupid attitudes and incompetence). Individual store workers at Petsmart can be occasionally helpful but overall, the store is staffed by a bunch of inexperienced and uncommitted youngish workers. I see no salvation coming to the Corporate America. What a waste of space, this store. I will never even try and waste my time again. The whole shopping area will be better served as a nature preserve. in the least they should be required to carry solar panels for the city on their rooftop. Have you seen the rooftop of Walmart from Quarry Road in the evening, dotted with round lighting suitable for alien creatures, obviously wasting enormous amount of electricity? I'm hard pressed to find out what are those round light objects are for. Thumbs down all the way. Will never go back. Won't even try. Go online or shop at our local Ithaca Pets & Grain. I have never had a worse service experience. THREE TIMES PetSmart made me wait a month for my Goldens' summer cut appointments and, THREE TIMES, as I was driving there, they called to say that "the groomer just went home". NOTHING more was offered; no backup, no stay late or come in early; just that I need to call back and make another appt! This last time the moron that called me did not identify herself except to ask me to hold and then left me on hold for so long, I had to hang up. When she called back she STILL didn't tell who was calling me until I asked. THREE SUMMERS IN A ROW my Goldens have suffered the summer heat because this place that calls itself a service business and that charges 2-3 times of other local groomers have nothing but incompetence and utter disdain for their customers. My first time at PetSmart was when I was getting ready to bring home a 9-week-old puppy. The staff was helpful and, with their assistance I had a crate, a few toys, food, and other necessities. I also got the puppy coupon book, which was very helpful. One month later, once the pup was out of quarantine, I went back. This time, for training. Justin, the trainer, is fantastic. He was very clear in his explanations and Märchen improved by leaps and bounds. Justin was also patient with some of my more random questions (such as how to get him to tolerate getting his hair brushed). It's been over a year now and I'm proud to report that the pup still knows the basic commands we learned together in class - sit, stay, lie down, leave it, touch, and watch me. Of course, there are always new challenges to be conquered and new commands to be learned (if only I could get him to stop begging for food). If I was still in Ithaca, I would have signed up for the intermediate class in a heartbeat! read more

This Petsmart always does a great job grooming my dog - a massively furry Goldendoodle. The staff is also really nice and helpful - even offering to take back half used food and provide an exchange when I mentioned my dogs did not do well switching to it. Petsmart, for reasons other than food or grooming, is a huge ripoff in my opinion. I find most everything to be overpriced and try to purchase toys and collars from smaller, non-chain, shops. I wanted to share my experiences getting my fat, long-haired cat groomed. My boyfriend and I took him to Petsmart twice to be groomed and was pleased with the ease and the results. We chose Petsmart initially due to the cost - he only needed a "rear window" (butt shave) the first time, and it only cost $7 or $8. We knew that not all groomers handle cats, so when we called to make the appointment, they told us when the groomer who handles cats would be working and said to just drop in during the morning, since she'd have some openings and it wouldn't take enough time to schedule an appointment. We were in and our very quickly, and his clean, shaven butt was much appreciated. The second time we went in, our little man needed more maintenance - with it being summer, he'd gotten matted from sitting in the wet sink to cool down, and since he was too hot to cuddle, we didn't realize until the mats were too big for us to comb out. We had to wait about a week to get an appointment with the cat groomer, but everything went smoothly. An assistant held him steady and provided petting while the groomer shaved his matted rump and gave him a rear window. She methodically looked for other matted areas on his belly and took care of it all. I was amazed that our generally skittish cat sat on the table and kneaded while dogs around him barked and caused a fuss (which could be a negative if you have a 'fraidy cat - all the grooming seems to happen in the same room at the same time). It was super reasonably priced - I think less than $20 (don't quote me), but certainly less than pet salons - and I appreciated that they didn't pressure us into a full groom. When we took our little guy into the vet a few weeks later, she commented on what a good job the groomer did on his shaved bits. I'd definitely recommend this Petsmart and cat groomer (I wish I remembered her name!) to cat owners. Just make sure you mention you're bringing in your CAT when scheduling the appointment, since only the one groomer seems to handle them. In general, we had a good experience with the store. My boyfriend and I purchased just about everything for our new kittens (adopted from the SPCA) from the store - from litter boxes to toys to the huge puppy crate we got to transport them to our new home in a new state - and they had everything we needed and helped us find items pretty frequently. read more

I came here to buy a 75 gallon tank and a stand, I saw on the Petsmart website that there was a deal for a 75 gallon tank and stand for $300, I called a day ahead to check if they had them in stock and told them that I would be there the next day to buy one, the woman I spoke with stated that they had them in stock. I arrive to the store, the display was empty and they said they didn't have any and wouldn't even look in the back room despite there only being one display space for a single tank. They just gave blank stares as obviously I was pretty frustrated with the way they pretended to not know anything at all. The gentleman who "helped" me the the entirety of my visit assumed that I was oblivious, even when expressing my knowledge on the topic. Assuming customers are stupid isn't a good way to sell, especially when he kept trying to upsell me on supplies I clearly didn't need. I ended up paying over $500 for the same exact tank and stand sold separately, as the only petsmart around where I live is quite a drive. Everything was overpriced, dead fish in the tanks, there was literally a single angelfish in one of the tanks and it was floating. The store is great, the employees, not so much. read more

Would not recommend this store for grooming. After picking up my 4 month old puppy I inspected his ears once back in my vehicle because I knew they were getting dirty and wanted to double check they cleaned them. They were just as bad as when he came in. After calling I luckily was able to talk to his groomer and she suspects he has an ear infection and that his ears were sensitive (he let me poke around in his ears w/o problem). After finding out they managed to forget to mention that my puppy might have an infection I took a closer look at him and several of his nails were barely trimmed and most weren't ground down very well. Overall he did not appear as clean and didn't smell as clean as the last time he was groomed. Previous grooming was done by my hometown PetSmart and he looked much cleaner and smelled 100% better! They also were not able to grind all of his nails and but me a discount and made sure that I knew they had a problem with it. Most of my complaints could have been fixed by simply giving me the post grooming report card (that would have listed his possible ear infection and if they had trouble trimming his nails) that they did not give me. Though, that wouldn't change the fact that when I picked him up he didn't smell as good as he should have and that he still had some eye gunk built up. read more

been taking my dog here for 3.5 years to get his nails trimmed. today i show up and they tell me they won't take him anymore he's "unfit" and "needs to go to a vet" to get it done. i've never had any problem, now today they tell me otherwise. no one said anything the last time i was there and there was never an issue....... im not sure what happened as they had zero other detail written down!! but this is super annoying and inconvenient. i understand if he was aggressive they don't want to do him there, but no one said anything last time. then i drove the whole way to town to get it down and i was super inconvenienced. not happy. won't be back. won't recommend. read more

I booked two appointments online with Tashi A. for my two cats, planned my entire day around taking them to get groomed and was called AN HOUR before the appointment by an oblivious woman claiming that her schedule was actually completely full and wouldn't be able to "fit me in". I have used the puppy training classes at Petsmart and I am an avid shopper there. The puppy training classes were very well run and professional. The variety and sales at the store are great. The store brand products are excellent. But the real stand out is the friendly staff. It is clear that everyone in the store loves animals and that makes a real difference. read more

I go to petsmart for grooming. My groomer is very sweet and I like what she does. I had an appointment for grooming a couple of mondays ago. Sunday I get a knock on my door. An employee (not the groomer who did my dog before) stood at my door, telling me I needed to call petsmart because they couldn't get a hold of me in regards to my appointment. I felt completely violated. I recognized her as one of the twins that works there and my neighbors told me the other twin stayed in the car, watching the house. (they said she looked like she expected a bust!). I gave my address to petsmart because I thought they needed it in the computer as a reference, not to stalk me! I will not go back. I didn't call them, and I didn't show up to my appointment. I don't recommend NOT going to them! The twins will stalk you!!!! I'm surprised they are still working there, considering they violate customer information!!! read more
