The manager and dog groomer claiming they have been busy with other dogs even though we have an at appointment at 12:30

MANAGER Erika Assistant Manager Dylan **Inhumane, Negligent, Animal Cruelty and Animal Abuse: Petsmart should lose their License! Overbooking for PROFITS cause operational hazards that put the well-being of pets at risk at this Petsmart Las Cruces location.** Shocking and unacceptable treatment of animals at Petsmart grooming! My dog suffered in a cage for over 5 hours and now has bloody urine. The manager, Erika, showed no empathy or concern. I urge Petsmart to take responsibility and improve their services. It's unacceptable to keep dogs in cages for hours without proper care or attention. These Petsmart managers prioritize PROFITS over the safety and comfort of our pets. Not only does overbooking pose a threat to the safety of pets, but it also endangers the staff. Overstretched and overburdened staff due to overbooking can lead to rushed and negligent care for the animals. This is unacceptable and needs to be addressed by Petsmart. It is unacceptable to keep a dog in a cage for such a long period of time, especially when the dog has an appointment. Per Erika, the manager, the staff does not take the dog out to pee! The fact that my dog now has bloody urine is a clear indication that she was not properly taken care of during her stay. I dropped her off at 12:00 noon for her 12:30 pm appointment, at 5:00 pm they weren't done, and is now rushing her haircut ( my dog is a lhasa apso mix that weighs less than 15 lbs, not matted, has short hair) The manager, Erika, was extremely unprofessional and showed a complete lack of empathy towards my dog's situation. She even suggested that I take my dog home before the grooming was finished, which is unacceptable considering the $81 I paid for the service. I would strongly advise against bringing your dog to Petsmart grooming at this location. The lack of care and concern for the animals is apparent, and the staff are unprofessional and dismissive. My poor dog had to suffer the consequences of their negligence, and I will not stand for it. I urge Petsmart to take responsibility for their actions and to improve their services to ensure that no other dogs have to go through what my dog experienced. #animalcruelty #inhumane #animalabuse #lascrucesnews #overbooking #operationalhazard #petsafety #animalwelfare #newmexicodepartmentofworkforce #newmexicolabordepartment #staffsafety #overburdened #negligentcare #pethealth

Huge pet store that not only comes with pet food, supplies and equipment, but also a place for grooming, adoption and pet training. Came here for the pet tag kiosk and it was super simple to operate.

Karen helped me out by taking my 2 large German Shepherds after finding a few fleas on them. This happened to my dogs after staying at the, " La Quinta" (pet friendly hotel). We have been on the road for six days traveling from New York on our way back to California. This morning we woke up to both dogs scratching miserably, with fleas from this hotel! Karen told me she was actually booked solid this morning but she rearranged her schedule to help us out because of our situation. Karen's attention to detail, great communication skills, and ready smile made the experience even better than I expected. I am so excited to share this with you! We are so pleased with her expertise and expedient service! We were able to get back on the road and continue our travel within one hour from dropping the dogs off. Hence, Karen's professionalism and enthusiasm to get to the root of the issue promptly exceeded my expectations. She called us when the dogs were finished. When we picked them up she surprised us with a 10% military discount which I stood there in disbelief! This type of professionalism and commitment to the highest level of customer's satisfaction has to be acknowledged. Having in mind such a pleasant experience with her and her lovely employee! It is my pleasure to recommend anyone reading this to do business with her in the future! Sincerely, London Fiehler

READ MY REVIEW!!! If I could give negative stars I would…read more NEVER BRING YOUR DOG HERE. I am active-duty military stationed in San Diego, CA, I was 6 months pregnant when this incident occurred now that I am not pregnant anymore, back from deployment, and in a good routine with my baby, I want to get justice for my dog. A little back story, Pearl was my 4-year-old healthy English bulldog that I had gotten while I was stationed in Japan. She flew all the way from Japan to the United States without any issues and went to the vets prior to this trip to NM (which I have documentation stating that she was 100% a healthy dog). On March 21st, 2025, I had last minute decided to board my dogs, Pearl (English bulldog) and Levi (Akita Inu) at Karen's Animal House (ADDRESS- 1646 Mahaney Dr, Las Cruces, NM 88005) for a quick overnight stay. As I went to drop them off, I explained to the worker that Pearl needs to be kept cool. He stated, "don't worry, we get bulldogs all the time here," this gave me some reassurance that Pearl was in good hands for the night. Pearl and Levi were dropped off at 12:30pm. Around 1:30pm, a worker called me to say that Pearl was outside, she got hot, and they brought her inside. Around 3:30pm, I was called again and told that Pearl was unresponsive, and he think she has passed away. I was hysterical, I proceeded to tell him to call the vets immediately or bring her to wherever vets and I would be there AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. I was there in less than 10 minutes. As I arrived to Karens Animal House, NONE of the workers were helping me even locate Pearl. I went slamming through each room and not a single person stopped to assist me. I walked out to their grass yard, where I saw this worker carrying my dog out in her bed and she was clearly dead. SHE WAS ONLY THERE FOR 3 HOURS. Her body was so cold and stiff, I could not understand what had happened within 3 hours. My other dog was a wreck. Karen has never called or even tried to reach out to me or even pay for any of this. I paid for Pearl to get a necropsy done immediately because I couldn't drive back to San Diego with my dead dog in the car. The necropsy came back that she aspirated due to "foreign material." Meaning, her death could have 100% been preventable, just like if you see a HUMAN BEING CHOKING. The workers failed to mention to me if she had possibly vomited at any point, I was told that Pearl was being watched by one of the other workers, which is clear negligence. It isn't like she dropped dead because of a heart attack; ANYONE would have noticed a dog choking. I had gotten in contact with an Officer Aguirre of Las Cruces Animal Control. He went to Karens Animal Place to interview, I asked if they had footage from the cameras and he said that he asked but apparently the cameras "didn't work." He also told me that he was going to get somebody to arrest me because I was "threatening him." I spoke with him again; he said that there was nothing that he could do and the case was closed. This was traumatizing, he seemed to be taking the easy way out. I didn't understand why animal cruelty laws were not being followed judging by where I live in San Diego, this situation hell would be raised. This event caused me so much emotional stress that I have been diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, and depression and now must take medication every day to regulate myself. This whole thing happening while I was 6 months pregnant, I had too many scares thinking that I lost my baby. Pearl was my whole heart, and it truly felt like I lost my child. I know nothing will bring her back, but I want justice for her and I don't believe Karen should get away with this. Dogs don't just die in 3 hours.

Very poor business practices!…read more I wish that I had gone with my instincts about going to this business for agility training. I first met the owner, Kim Fuque at a Pet Expo at the Las Cruces Convention Center. She had a booth where she gave an agility demo. At the time, she was very boastful about her talents, and seemed to have a rather large ego. When I came up to speak with her after the demo, she was rather stand-offish, and when I asked to pet her dog, she said "no." Since that time, one person recommended her. And in spite of the fact that I had heard negative comments about her, I decided to look into her services. Here again, I found signs that made me think twice about going to her for agility training. Her website is poorly designed with dead links, and a poorly designed calendar that outlines her classes. I had to fish all over the site to find the address for the business. And finally, when I did contact her via email, her reply seemed rudely brief. Against my better judgment, I decided to give her a try. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt, and check out what she had to offer. So tonight, I went to her facility to check out her 'Agility Foundations' class. The class started at 6 pm on January 8th, a dark winter night, and when I arrived, I discovered that the course was being held outdoors. Her facility is off the beaten path, South/West of Picacho and the Rio Grande. In a sparsely populated area, there are no street lights, and her facility was difficult to find. There was no sign in front, and it looked like there was a house at the specified address. The only way that I knew that I was in the right place, was that back away from the street, there were lights, like the kind that light up a baseball field. But the front was completely dark, and I had to walk a distance around the house and figure out how to get back to the field. When another woman and I found our way to the back to find Kim waiting, I mentioned that it was difficult to find her place with no lights and no sign in the front. Kim looked at me as though I were speaking a foreign language. She then asked my name and told me that as soon as I paid the class would get started. I told her that I wanted to observe the class before I decided if I wanted to join. She said no. So I turned around and left. I have never attended a training class that demanded a non-refundable payment prior to attending the first class. And in this instance, I just said that I wanted to observe the class. Are you kidding me??? She said NO! Why on earth would I want to give my money to a person unwilling to allow me to observe her class before deciding whether it was for me or not. Too bad, she lost my business. And from other reviews, and personal recommendations, I know that I am not the first one to have problems with your impersonal style. Kim, you are not the only option in town, and I will be using another service. In closing, I suggest that anyone considering Las Cruces Dog Sports, listen to your inner voice, and avoid this facility. Having good equipment and some know how cannot overcome shoddy and impersonal business practices.

The lady did an okay job…read moreand my dog seemed to like her so I decided it was good enough even though they charged a first class price for less than first class service. The second time I asked for nothing more than a bath and they still did some grooming - again not the end of the world. Iggy seemed happy enough so I decided to stick with the place. Made an appointment for grooming 10 days ago. Spoke directly with the groomer who works on Iggy. She confirmed the appointment, gave me an appointment card and I got a text yesterday confirming the appointment again. I get there this morning and they act like they don't know why I am there. The groomer we use was in the back and for no readon she just started yelling - "I was told he's only getting a bath." Mind you - I hadn't said a word so something was off. She just kept screaming - I mentioned I wanted him groomed. She repeated "I was told he's only getting a bath." I don't know who she talking to but the only person she talked to that matters was me - I made the appointment - I asked for grooming. It was clear that she wasn't prepared to do what she promised and I didn't want her to take it out on my dog - which she looks fully capable of doing - so I said never mind I'll take him somewhere else and she muttered something to the effect "Fine then go." I won't be back and I'd caution anyone who values their time to be careful here.

Got me in quickly and did a great job on my long-haired dog. Competitively priced. Nice folks!read more
