Who knew finding a groomer as a first-time pet mom would be this difficult. Unfortunately, my experience with PetSmart was frustrating and inconsistent. I originally brought my 4-month-old puppy, Sadie, in for a bath and sanitary trim, following my vet's advice since her adult coat hasn't fully grown in yet. On Wednesday, I was told the bath and sanitary trim couldn't be done because there was mild matting on her feet--despite the fact that I brush her daily. I was told her body was fine, but that she would need a puppy trim, which I then booked for Saturday because they couldn't accommodate us that day (after driving 20 minutes to get there). When I returned on Saturday, a different groomer checked her in and suddenly claimed Sadie had matting all over her body and needed a full cut. This directly contradicted what I was told just days earlier--that her body was fine and only her feet were an issue. Nothing had changed between Wednesday and Saturday. What made this more concerning was a comment mentioned to me that PetSmart often claims matting to justify charging a higher grooming fee. I truly hope that's not the case, but the inconsistency between groomers raised red flags. I specifically booked with Karol after seeing a positive review about her, and I'm hoping the service itself reflects that reputation. However, the conflicting information, multiple appointments, and lack of consistency made this a stressful experience--especially as a new puppy owner just trying to do the right thing. I expected clearer communication and consistency across staff. Pro: you can pretty much anything you need for your pup. read more

I've been searching the past year for someone who is a master at grooming a Miniature Schnauzer ~ and I finally found her at this PetSmart location!!! KAROL is absolutely AMAZINGGGG!!! I have a 12 pound very spoiled Miniature Schnauzer named Jaxon Valentino who is adorable. Karol asked questions to find out how and what I wanted the outcome to be and she executed my wishes with precision!!! The groomers didn't even give my dog a chance. Less than 2 minutes after I checked him in, before I could even make it to the aisle with the cat carriers, they called to decline him for service. Why? He was scared and they were pulling on him to try and drag 150 lb dog. So he laid down to self regulate. He needed a second to calm down, acclimate and some reassurance and they couldn't give him the time of day. He's been to other Petsmart since he was 12 weeks old, and the only issue they ever had was trying to shove him in a crate that was too small. So now that I moved, Petsmart has now permanently lost a customer because this location doesn't have people properly trained to work with large breed dogs. read more

This week I took my SENIOR Maltese dog to Petsmart on John Young pkwy in Orlando Florida for grooming. I always make sure I let the groomer know about his health issues with arthritis before starting. I waited by the clinic (Bandfield veterinary clinic) which it is right next to the grooming salon. I heard a dog barking so I looked in through the glass window and it was my dog which he has never done that before. The groomer was lifting him up by his tail to shave his butt area! He was limping and had tremors when we got home. So, we took him to the vet and he has been in painkillers ever since. We spent $350 in vet emergency bill! This PetSmart is the one I tend to shop the most since it is closer to my home. So, I've been shopping this store for a few years now. Its your basic, PetSmart store with a grooming salon, training area and veterinary services. Many moons ago, we used to bring our Shih Tzu's here for grooming but decided to use an individual groomer when our pups seemed to be acting weird after being picked up. As they are not crated at home, it might have been a bit of an upset for them to be waiting in cages until it was their turn for be groomed. (Sometimes they waited a couple of hours, then after grooming, they went back in the cage. ) However, those are just my dogs ... and they are a bit spoiled as I try to keep them as happy as possible. I also am very aware of their need for "potty" with smaller bladders ... so, that can be an issue as well. I have also used this location for basic training and it was pretty good! So, yippee for doggy training! (I also love to walk by when they have a class in session and see all the pup-pup's learning their tricks!) On most of my visits, the place is quiet and they only have one cashier available. However, when its time to check out, there is always a line. You will see other staff members walking around or talking to each other, yet, they only have one cashier. Its a bit frustrating because it seems to take longer than a average check out due the the phone number questions, the donation questions, the discount questions, etc. (I'm not complaining about the discounts at all, btw!!! I love them.) Also, I have found that many of their items are not stocked if you are looking for certain things that you might see online or that have markers in the aisle but never seemed to be there (certain shampoo, ear wipes, harnesses, etc.) If its a popular item, you might have to opt for another choice as this has been the case many times I've visited. They do always have the food well stocked though! So, its your standard PetSmart. If you are looking for basics, this store will do! read more

Every single freaking time I go in there, there is a problem. Never any crazy request on my end- buying vet cat food and had a manufacturer coupon- cashier tells me we can't accept that it's a copy- I say, sir, how else are you supposed to use it, it came straight from the manufacturer website- it says straight in the coupon print it out and hand it to cashier- he then has to call a manager, who by the way, has attitiude every single dang time I go in there, she says this once we will take it, but it's not for this food- even though the coupon saos dry science diet cat food, which is exactly what I was buying, she tried to tell me it was just for the kind that was the picture and not vet food. Said no where in the fine print vet food didn't count. It was a $6 coupon. I have had issues in the past with that manager acknowledging that their own website says as of this year they'd take back dog food and she refused, I've got my purchases down to just this bag of food I hate it there so much and they won't even answer the call for approval of vet food online, so I guess I'll get my vet to approve it and says good riddance to PetSmart read more

I was an evacuee out of Key West, Florida with my two beloved Companion pets, Poe and Dro, (Chow Chows). We were fortunate enough to secure a hotel room in the sunny Orlando, Florida. Extra fortunate when we located your PetSmart which included Grooming Services. Since we choose to live 90 miles off the coast of Cuba, both my boys get a specialty cut known as a LION CUT because of the extreme heat and humidity down in Key West, Florida I made my appointment for a Saturday morning. We met with your Groomer named Elsie. She went over all the particulars including my dog's health certificates/ rabies shots along w listening to my concerns as to how I would like my boys groomed. The LION CUT w "V" and "Mohawk". After a few hours, I was more than pleasantly surprised to say the least. The bill was extremely reasonable and I was even given a $10 off coupon as a New Client. Next up - My two boys Poe and Dro. The LION Cut that Elsie worked hard to groom my Chow Chows into was perfect! Shaved to the exact length I had requested, ears cleaned, shiny sweet-smelling coats as well as all the HAND CLIPPING around their body was properly done so that the shaved and clipped part merged perfectly together. This is a highly specialized cut not every groomer knows how to do it properly. I'm here to state that your Grooming Service employee named Elsie at store 0309 off of John Young Parkway in Orlando, Florida did an exceptional job!!! My boyfriend and I shop at this PetSmart 1-2 times a week. We shop here for our cats, fishes, hamster and rabbit. They always have what we are looking for, and are always greeted as soon as we walk inside. Throughout the time that we are shopping we have at least 2 workers ask us if we need assistance with anything. They are really informed on the fish and help us when we test our tank water! One of the most terrible conditions to house a chameleon and most there animals but this one just tops it all.. extremely tight cage no room to explore or barely move.. no drip system or even the proper lighting. I like all the Petsmart stores. This one is a little older than some but it is also bigger than most. It is definitely bigger than the Petco up the street. They have a Banfield veterinarian and grooming as well as training classes. I would avoid the Banfield but I have used the grooming and have been happy. The grooming, as with the training completely depends on the skills of the groomer/trainer. Some are brand new out of school and are not so good, others have lots of training and experience and are wonderful. Ask around and find one that suits you. They have lots of pet stuff as well as live birds, fish, reptiles and rodents for sale. They lend space to adoption groups on the weekends instead of selling dogs and cats (excellent!). read more

We take our dog here every month to be groomed and couldn't be happier with the service. I'll be honest, our dog is a gigantic pain in the ass and on top of that, he gets stressed going here, but they always do a great job with him. Our usual groomer moved off to another state, but we now have Amy and she didn't miss a beat. Here's another reason I love this place: Last week I dropped the dog off on my way to work. My wife picked him up a few hours later but she left her wallet at home. They were so cool with this. "Just pay next time you bring him in" Really?! How cool! I take Charlie (1 year old shihtzu) to PetSmart because everything we need is inside. Banfield is there, we get his supplies there and there are groomers as well. Banfield is so so... I never really know how updated Charlie is with his vaccines because of all the extra useless sheets of paper they give us. I'm currently paying about $25/mo which is ok. His heart worm meds are $20/1 which is good for a month. It's just nice to know that I don't have to worry about finding a place to take Charlie if he gets sick. PetSmart store itself is ok... It's clean, they always have cleaning supplies (everywhere) incase dogs have accidents. I really only buy stuff there when I take Charlie out to mingle with people and other dogs. It's like an indoor dog park for us. The groomers, well... That's a different story. First off, (I'm getting this from my receipt) it's $45 for the grooming and $21 to get the nail grind. Charlie is a 20 pound shihtzu... THAT'S A LOT OF MONEY. In the beginning, Charlie was a pain to groom but by taking the groomer's suggestions , I got him used to getting his face and feet touched and bathed him at home. Eventually, things got better. In December, the not so pleasant groomer even said that Charlie was so well behaved. Which made me happy. I took him there for the last time to get groomed on March 1, 2014. It was just a regular day and his groomer, David, said that he still misbehaving a little bit and he was getting a little excited. I also took him there in the beginning of April to get his nails cut which went smoothly. Today April 29, I called to schedule a grooming appointment. I was put on hold for a few minutes and when somebody finally came back on the line I was told that they can no longer groom Charlie. They suggested to go to a sedation groomer... Charlie is not that bad, (not saying that just because I'm him momma)... Anyway, my issue is, why couldn't they tell me that before? I'm just very annoyed at how they handle their business. Why wait until I called? I would never take my Charlie here again... There are better groomers out there. read more

Very rude employee (a lady with long hair). I entered the store. I told to this lady that I wanted to return and buy back these stuffs (2 boxes of pee pads) because the current price was cheaper (note: I did this because PetSmart does not give price adjustment). Then, she asked if I wanted to buy something from the store. I said no. She did all needed to be done when a customer returned a merchandise reluctantly (like I asked a favor from her). After she gave me a receipt for the stuffs I returned, I asked why there was a discrepancy in the total amount. She showed me the return price. However, that was not the problem. I recalled of different tax rates (because I bought the merchandises in a different state). After that, I told her that I wanted to buy again the merchandises. She started getting into an argument with me. She said that she asked if I wanted to do an exchange. I said no. She asked if I wanted to buy something from the store, which I answered no. Another employee started rolling the shopping cart with the returned items. I told her again that I wanted to buy the stuffs. Then, she said that I needed to wait in line (there were 3 other customers in the checkout - only 1 register was opened) to buy again the stuffs. I thought you must be kidding me. Since I did not want to argue with her, I decided to wait in line. She, then, asked the same employee (who started rolling the shopping cart) to open another register. I decided to go with the other employee to buy back the merchandises. While standing in line, this employee (who I returned the items) was talking to the customer (on her register) and laughing while looking at me (on the next register). Her behavior was very rude and completely unacceptable. At the end, I saved about $27 [I thought I would have saved close to $40 since I just bought the same brand pee pad at a different PetSmart (far away from home) for about $35 per box. Sina, the dog trainer, is amazing!! I started with crate training to help my dog get comfortable while I'm gone. He does great now! I then did the intermediate and advanced training and we learned a lot. My dog listens so much better, and I can communicate with him more. Banfield pet hospital has been very helpful as well. They address my dog by name before I check in. My dog got neutered here. They explained everything and were kind. Great with other concerns I've had. The service in the retail store is normally great! I've had one or two rude employees, but I didn't see them there very long. They usually know my dog, make me feel welcome and help me how I need it! read more

The staff were exceptionally friendly, I waited less than 5 minutes to check in and the facility was sparkling clean. Terrible! I have gone to the grooming salon here for a few years. Lately, the groom has been very sloppy and uneven. I brought my dog in September for a groom and a few toys. I went to make another appointment online for nail grinding, and was told there was an error. I called the store and spoke with a very rude lady, and then was passed on to a manager. The manager told me that I never paid for my previous service to I would need to pay before I could bring my dog again. However, I have a receipt and payment posted on my account from two months ago that says otherwise. After talking with the manager for 20 minutes we seemed to get everything taken care of. I have heard nothing but bad things about the service at this location but since we moved to Hunter's Creek this location is closest to us so we decided to give it a chance. Came here today 1/21 with my boyfriend and our two dogs, a chihuahua and a Boston terrier to get their nails clipped. We all walked into the grooming area and were ignored for about a minute while the lady continued to sweep and then finally decided she wanted to greet us and acted like we were bothering her by being there. We told her we needed both their nails clipped and that our Boston would be fine but the chihuahua gets a little anxious. She then stated that they would charge double for a handling fee for my 5 pound dog. Ummm.... Seriously?? Since when? For 3 years I took my chihuahua to the Harahan, Louisiana location and they never once charged double it was always $8 and when we first moved here to Orlando I took him to the Waterford Lakes PetSmart and guess what? Only $8 there as well. I asked her why she would charge double when no other location has and she rudely said, "well I guess all PetSmarts are different". Maybe if she wasn't so rude about the whole thing I would have thought about paying the double price just for convenience, but nope thanks for a bad experience....I'll stick with Waterford Lakes or Colonial where we get awesome service and the employees actually seem to love their jobs and working with animals. read more

With 5 dogs we are here a lot. We go to Banfield for the vet and Grooming in the store for my dogs 18$ for a bath and nails is a steal. Rose is super sweet and I wish I could remember her name, she is the store manager always helps keep my dogs under control when we walk in because they are not always good around other dogs. She knows as soon as we walk in that we will need help getting into the grooming area smoothly. Great store and great associates. read more

What a difference from the browned location I always go to. Came here to get some herbs or medicine because it was our first road trip and found out my dog gets nauseated when in a car. Lady told us she couldn't help us because we didn't bring the dog. So I grabbed some treats and told the lady I would come tomorrow with the dog. Today I get here and they tell me they're out. So we called another Petsmart and they said the dog would need to have a visit first before getting that med and unfortunately they had an emergency so the vets not available. This place is a customer service nightmare. I waited very patiently with about 15 other customers in line for thirty minutes with two cashiers. Both were handling unusually large orders. One left the floor to ask for guidance twice. On his third trip, a manager or lead came out to help him, then opened a third line. In the meanwhile two other employees are visiting with guests and their pets right in front of the registers. No leadership and no idea how to handle a crowd, much less make them ever want to come back. Never again! read more
