    The front of the store.

This place is like a zoo, a Home Depot for pet products, and the Humane Society, all wrapped up in one location. I don't have a pet, nor do I want one, since I prefer being able to have a life without having to schedule a return home to take care of an animal or impose on my friends to do the same, but I realize that there are billions of dollars spent by tens of millions of Americans who just can't imagine life without a non-human companion. For people like that, I would recommend this store. Friendly employees, lots of stuff to do and look at, and the customers with their pets are an added attraction. I enjoyed seeing the wee Chihuahuas being led around by septuagenarians and the larger dogs pulling their younger caretakers around. It would have been bonus to see a snake on a leash, but sadly I didn't witness that. I had a fun time in here. The place is bright and bustling, the bathrooms are clean (or, at least, the men's room is), and it isn't spookily vacant, like some of the dollar stores that I pop into. Way better than just "okay," this Petsmart certainly deserves four stars.

This was Olive's first time being groomed by Natalie at Vanity Fur, and she looks so stinkin' cute!…read more Olive was a little nervous at first, but Natalie was so patient with her. Within just a few minutes, Olive had settled right in and was completely comfortable. I really appreciated that Natalie gave her a trim that suited her perfectly without taking off too much. On top of that, her prices are super reasonable! Safe to say we'll definitely be regulars.

I recently brought our miniature schnauzer to Donna at Vanity Fur with very specific instructions:…read moreI asked that his few small mats under the pits of his legs be worked out or trimmed/ cut and that I did not want him shaved- Something she did before without consulting with me. Miniature Schnauzers can mat easily because their traditional cut leaves longer hair on the legs, chest, and beard. That longer hair traps dirt, moisture, and debris, especially if they are active and live in areas with high amounts of underbrush and leaves. Instead of having a respectful, professional conversation with me, Dawna made snarky remarks to me in front of another customer, saying our dog would look like "Swiss cheese" and "look stupid," but that she would do it anyway. She even added that she prefers to "shave him naked" rather than have him look like Swiss cheese, and dismissed my concerns by saying, "It's just hair. It will grow back." This was unprofessional and unnecessary -- especially saying it in front of another customer, which made me uncomfortable and embarrassed. As a paying customer, I do not not hire a groomer for what she wants to do; I pay them for what I request, provided it is safe for our dog. I expect respectful communication and clear explanation of options -- not sarcasm or ridicule. A good groomer should work with owners to find the best solution for the dog, not belittle their request. When I hire someone for a service, they work for me -- not the other way around. I'm paying for what I want done, not for what they'd rather do. I will not be returning and hope this feedback encourages Donna and Vanity Fur to practice more professionalism and respect for future clients. Based upon my past interactions with Donna, I fully expect her to double down and leave a baseless and falsified response to justify her rudeness and unprofessional behavior. Nothing says "professional" like blaming your own paying customer when you get called out. Instead of fixing the problem, I fully expect Donna to deflect, and made excuses. These photos of our sweet little guy were taken the day after his grooming after the small mats were trimmed and as everyone can see, he doesn't look "stupid" or like "Swiss Cheese" and didn't need to be shaved like the owner preferred. It is our contention the Donna was rudely pushing the lazier route of shaving him to save her extra work and time. Additionally, just as I expected, I received a nasty text message from Donna in which she vowed notify other groomers in town to blackball us as customers and she falsified the majority of her response to my review. This is one really nasty vindictive business owner.
