So - it's been quite the journey my moving from Warrington to Ferry Pass! Much safer, more beautiful & I am finding it a little more pricey . But worth it! Case in point - Cains Dog House grooming on Creighton. I have taken my yorkie Lexi to Cains a handful of times now. Besides grooming, they also offer boarding. I have fallen in love with Cains. They greet you so happily when you arrive & ask you what you are looking for when you bring in your dog each time. They care so very much about following your specifications that they have taken pictures off of my phone into theirs so they can forward it to that groomer. I have been very impressed by their dedication to making sure you are completely happy with the final result. They also make sure to put Lexi in a top cage until pickup because smaller dogs are less stressed than putting them in a bottom cage! When I pickup Lexi, she is happy - not stressed and isn't that what we all want for our pets? They also offer something her former groomer did not which is the polishing of her nails. I'm excited to try that very soon. I'm probably going to be more excited about that than Lexi! read more

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I rarely leave negative reviews, but I hope sharing my experience encourages Cain's Dog House to improve its communication and consultation process for future clients. I adopted my 2-year-old Goldendoodle, Crumbl, in March 2026. As a new doodle owner, I relied on Cain's Dog House's professional expertise when I scheduled his first grooming appointment with me on June 24. Prior to that, Crumbl had received a professional full grooming on May 9 with another groomer, so I believed I was maintaining his coat appropriately. At check-in, the consultation lasted less than five minutes, which lasted from me handling my dog with his leash to the groomer. That brief duration was the groomers quick visual assessment of my dog. I asked for a "good trim" & possibly shorter in the belly area. She briefly stated that Crumbl had matting and would need to be groomed "shorter," while trying to leave some fluff on his head. At no point was I clearly told that "shorter" meant shaving nearly his entire body down to the skin. I was not shown the matting, educated on what "pelted" meant, advised of the final appearance, or given an opportunity to make a truly informed decision before the grooming began. I entrusted them with Crumbl. To be clear, I am not disputing that shaving may have been the most humane option if Crumbl's coat was in fact severely matted. I am not a professional groomer. However, if that was the only safe option, I believe I deserved a thorough consultation explaining why, what the finished result would look like, the potential risks of shaving so closely, and proper aftercare. As a first-time doodle owner, I depended on the groomer's expertise and guidance. Unfortunately, that guidance was never provided. The result was heartbreaking for my son and me. I was completely shocked when I picked Crumbl up. He looked like an entirely different dog, with nearly all of his body shaved to the skin. It was emotionally upsetting to see such a drastic transformation without any warning or preparation. Since returning home, Crumbl has also experienced intermittent trembling, something I had never observed before. While I cannot determine whether it is related to the grooming itself, it is concerning enough that I will be scheduling a veterinary examination to ensure there are no underlying injuries, clipper irritation, skin sensitivity, or other medical concerns resulting from--or unrelated to--the grooming. What disappointed me most was the owner's response afterward. Rather than acknowledging that communication and expectation-setting could have been handled better, every response focused solely on defending the haircut and denying any responsibility for the consultation process. Even if the shave was professionally appropriate, effective communication and informed consent are equally important components of professional customer service. The owner also referenced Crumbl's previous grooming history with their salon from January. However, I was not his owner at that time. I adopted him in March 2026 and was bringing him in as a new client. My expectations, knowledge, and experience should have been treated accordingly. Every new owner deserves the same level of education and communication regardless of where the dog was previously groomed. This review is not about whether a short shave was necessary. It is about professionalism, transparency, client education, and informed consent. A responsible grooming experience should include taking the time to show owners the condition of their dog's coat, explain the available options, prepare them for a significant change in appearance, answer questions, and ensure they fully understand what to expect before proceeding. Despite my refund request being denied, I sincerely hope Cain's Dog House views this as constructive feedback and improves its consultation process. Better communication would have completely changed this experience, even if the final haircut had remained the same. *FOLLOW-UP TO OWNER's RESPONSE* While I acknowledge Crumbl had a few tangled areas, I disagree his entire coat required shaving to the skin. I don't recall being told he'd "look like a naked boy." The photo you provided shows the grooming already underway, not the alleged severe matting beforehand. Given his grooming just 6-weeks earlier, a more thorough consultation and explanation were warranted. read more

I was able to get my two pups in with only a couple of day wait and they did a fantastic job on their groom. They can see again! I had them get a full all over cut low to finish out the summer heat. Took my dog on Nov. 2024. My dog was injured and they did bother to inform me. She is in so much pain. My dog will not go back. She may not make it, I find out Monday. She's getting worse. I can't touch or put my arms around her. She would go get her toy and bring to me to throw. This was the morning in November before her bath visit to Cain's dog house. The dog care here is moderate at its best and I left today and immediately got a new dog daycare. When we get there, Zuzu is ecstatic and can't wait to get in the door (always a good sign). They have done a beautiful job grooming her and she just loves going there. I was very disappointed in Cain's Doghouse; I use to take my dogs before COVID and you all had about 4 groomers working. Now you have one and I dropped my dog off at 0945 and did not pick him up until 530pm. On top of that the young lady to whom I spoke to not only once but twice informed her how I wanted my dog groom, when I picked him up it was not done correctly. Her answer to this was can you bring him back on another day. Considering the amount, I am paying to have him groomed and that I told her twice and even provided a photo I do not believe I should have to come back again to fix it. Today was our first time using this grooming service, and we were excited to get our little man trimmed up after reading the reviews! Too bad this place is the absolute WORST!!! Our 10:30 am appointment for EARS, TAIL, & TOES took over 5 hours today!! Not a call to inform us they were behind or anything. We saw our dog locked in a crate at 2:30 pm when we came to check on him. The woman at the front desk did not even apologize to us; she attempted to say that bigger dogs take more time, so they are behind. Our 15 lbs dog did not deserve to sit in kennel all day because this place does not know how to how to manage a schedule. Do NOT waste your time on this place, because it's obvious that they do not care about yours. Picked him up after all that, SO GLAD they also got the cut wrong! I took my 2 dogs for grooming (all the hair removed) and was clear that this was for the benefit of the dogs as they are eaten up by flees. Got the dogs back with a lot of hair remaining on them. They need summer cuts because, as I said, flees. China did not even cut their tail hair at all. been a couple weeks and they dogs are bloody from biting the flees. I use the advantage and topical spray which they hate. This shop is a money trap. they are not interested in the animals but only in a quick buck. I spent $150 and for this both dogs are awake all night scratching and biting at flees all day and night. I have to take the small one into the vet as she has developed an infection from biting and scratching. DO NOT waste your time and money if the love your dogs. Now got to go see the vet, find another groomer, wait for an appointment, take time off work just so the dogs can luce a comfortable life. Very unprofessional service from Cains. I just took my 1 year old Doodle In for a cut and bath. I travel for work and he is my travel partner and he has been groomed by many groomers across the country. This is by far his best cut, even all the way around really good job on his head face and ears "teddy bear" look. It seemed to be a bit pricey compared to other places but the service was great and timely. read more

This is the second time I've boarded my dog, Truman, with them. They are great! It seems like they actually care about Truman. The grooming is amazing! Truman is a Goldendoodle and his fur tends to get pretty long and develop mats after awhile. They did a great job with him! He looks beautiful!! No matting! I'm writing this as both a review and WARNING and a plea for HELP to help me find the whereabouts of my baby Jack. (White male schnauzer). I had taken my dog to be groomed by Cains for the first time. I was in the process of moving that day, so I figured it would be the best time to have him groomed and safe while I had all the commotion going on. When I left the groomers, I was pulled over and subsequently taken to jail. As embarrassing as that is, its the truth of the matter. I'm not some horrible person, it was just something that took some time to clear up. That being said, I was unable to get my dog picked up. Im going to try to make this story as short as I can... Cains contacted my daughter as her number is the number I keep on his tag. She runs a doggie daycare and rescue herself and is ALWAYS available. She answers her phone 24/7 where as I do not. If my dog were ever lost I'd want someone to be able to find help ASAP so her number was what I decided on. Let me also mention she lives out of state. She explained I was in jail and told them she would try to find a way to have Jack shipped to her in the meantime. They informed her they would only hold him for 7 days at which time he would be put up for adoption and that they already had people interested. Wait have people interested? This was Monday. As in the first weekday after my arrest and they were already shopping him around. For the next few days my daughter tried to find ways to get jack to her but to no avail. By the 12th day Cains already had my Jack adopted out! They were fully aware he was wanted and that his mom just couldn't come get at him at the time. They didn't care. They said they sent out a certified letter informing me of their intent to adopt him out, which of course I wouldn't get. number 1 I was moving and number 2, I was detained. It took me 30 days to get my legal issues cleared and released. As SOON as I was home I contacted Cains to see where my Jack was and to see if I could at the very least get a visit with him. They were so hateful to me. I very much got the impression they felt they had saved this dog from some horrible criminal and were protecting him by keeping him hidden from me. I tried for a month to get them to have his adopted family to contact me. They never did. I put a letter on their Facebook page and lo and behold I get TEXT not a fb message a TEXT (I didn't include my#) from Someone saying they were acting as a third party and could serve as a go between to get pics of Jack sent to me. About an hour later I get them. He didn't look happy at all. I know my dog. That baby has been with me through the death of my husband of 25 years, my move 1000 miles away from my kids to start a new life as a result of my loss and not to mention I have some illnesses that without his affection and devotion I don't know if i would have lived through myself. He's a part of me and he wasn't happy. AGAIN, I explained my relationship with jack and begged for this "3rd party" to help facilitate a visit. She never responded. Her name is Lori Rosen. I assume she works for Cains. I also assume she is the one in charge of his re homing. I don't know if she has him but she knows who does. I can NOT imagine if the tables were turned that I would be able to keep an animal knowing their family was desperately looking for them. I don't feel like Cains was looking out for my dog. I feel like we was kidnapped. If any one knows ANYTHING about where my Jack is and can help me see him again I would appreciate it. I'm miserable without him and honestly I know he's miserable without me. I've tried to be patient by requesting pics and visits even though no one responds. I need to know he's ok. Not through a picture but to SEE him interact with his new family. Of course ultimately I want him back. However I'm reasonable if nothing else and if he's happy, then I can at least put closure to this and begin to heal from his loss. I'm going to post pictures of him for reference if I can. I only gave 1 star because I couldn't post with no stars. I boarded Bella for 2 nights. She was in heat so I asked that she not be placed with other dogs. They said no problem they had a large room for her alone. After I picked her up, she was very lethargic and didn't poop and only urinated once. When she begin whining for no reason I took her to the vet. Turns out her stomach was full of hair which I can only assume was dog hair probably left over from where dog grooming clippings were trashed. How could she have access to that? Was no one checking on her at all? She had to stay overnight at pet hospital for pancreatitis and has to take pills for 2 weeks. Vet bill was $386. Would not recommend this place to board your pet! read more

We've now tried Cain's Dog House twice with our poodle puppy. The first visit was specifically to get his ear hair pulled and a sanitary trim. I got home only to find out they didn't pluck his ear hair and we had to return the next morning for them to do that. This second visit, we were told that we were charged a "handling fee" because he "bit a groomer's face." I called for clarification and was told he was nipping at the groomer when they were trying to clip his nails. They also mentioned it was a normal thing for puppies to do. If it's normal, why am I being charged extra money for someone to pet him and distract him while he gets it done? Our puppy is not aggressive and has only been to the groomer twice. If you're thinking about bringing your puppy here to get acclimated to the grooming process, know that you will be charged extra for doing so. We will not be returning. read more

We put both our pets, a cat and a dog, with them for five days. They have a very nice facility and the prices were reasonable. They texted pictures of our pets to us during their stay. Both pets looked heathy and well cared for when we picked them up upon our return from our trip. Will definitely recommend them and use them again. read more

My husband and I boarded our two golden retrievers, Loki and Cyndir, for a few months in 2008. We're both in the military and were in need of long-term boarding for our pup's. We absolutely loved Cain's Dog House and wish we could find a place just like it now that we're in need of long-term boarding again (only in a different state this time)! Our dogs were treated like family, kept together in the same area, fed their favorite foods and treats and were given so much love and attention while they were there that I fear we will never be able to compete! The staff were very friendly and even allowed me to bring them along to a local dog beach on one of my weekend visits! My dog has been going here for about one year to daycare and getting baths and grooming. I was pleased until I found out that my dog was not being bathed at the end of the day as they led me to believe. It is poor communication. Every time I called before I took my dog to daycare, I specifically asked for the bath at the end of the day before I picked him up at 6:00 when they close. I also was under the impression that he was in daycare in the back, however, they had him up front in the salon at one time and that isn't what I expected. I dropped my Aussie off for a grooming today. They said he was extremely anxious and difficult to bathe, so they dried him under a fan instead of the dryer. While he doesn't like bathing, he normally isn't this anxious. His grooming looks fine. However, I don't think they let him out to go to the bathroom the entire time he was there (10:30-5) because he peed in my car on the way home, which is very unlike him. Also, when he got home, he immediately gulped down an entire bowl and a half of water. I recommend Shampoochie's, which is also on Creighton, for grooming. read more

I brought my Australian Shepherd mix here several times for doggy day care. He has no issues at all playing with other dogs (both big and small), but for some reason every time I picked him up, I was told that he was not let out to play with any other dogs, even though I specifically requested that he be given time outside with other pups (as they advertise). Additionally, each time I picked him up at the end of the day, he was "crossing his legs" because he had to go out so badly, and it was clear he had not been let out to relieve himself for a very long time. He was still full of energy each evening, and had clearly not been let out to play. If I wanted my dog to sit in a crate all day, I would leave him at home and save the $17 it costs me for Cain's Dog House to ignore him. I can understand this happening once, but after multiple visits with my dog very clearly being neglected, I will never bring him to Cain's again. read more

My dog died three days after I picked him up from this place. He went in with an infection on his paw, which was being treated with meds but other than that he was a healthy dog who saw his vet on a monthly basis. When I picked him up he appeared very sickly and lethargic. He also had very irritated eyes, to the point that he wouldn't open them. On the third day he began having trouble breathing so I rushed him to the 24-hour animal hospital, where he later passed. I wasn't trying to point the finger but I had my suspicions, so I went to Cains Dog House and asked to see any records, including medication charts that were used during my dogs stay. I especially wanted to see med charts bc I wanted to be sure that they werent accidentally over medicating him. They told me initially that they keep records but when I went back after my dogs passing, they said they had already thrown them all away, which was odd to me since it had only been a few days. They showed an overall lack of concern and didn't even call me back to follow up, like they said they would do after they questioned their employees. I gave them every chance but in the end they didn't care. I feel pretty certain that if I had never brought him there, he would still be alive... All bad... read more

THIS IS A COPY OF WHAT I POSTED FOR "LUCKY DOG" AND HOW WONDERFUL CAIN'S DOG HOUSE IS... WE WILL RECOMMEND AS MANY CUSTOMERS AS WE POSSIBLY CAN!! OMGoodness.... It was horrible.. We got a new puppy (Coco) a few months back and she is a Shih Poo... She finally reached 3lbs. and had very long, shaggy like hair. Like a little fur ball, soooo adorable. We waited until she got all of her shots and the threat of cold weather had passed before getting her groomed. My husband took her to Lucky Dog, trying to surprise me and he certainly did that! She looked like she was butchered.. After $38.00 (which even I don't pay for a haircut), her body literally looked like someone just grabbed chunks of hair and cut them at random. Her face wasn't trimmed at all so we still couldn't see her beautiful little face, her ears weren't cleaned, her potty and tail areas weren't trimmed either. The poor attempt at making her look like she spent the day at the spa were two crooked, stringy bows that were wrapped up in her fur so tight that they looked like they might hurt. I was devastated that a so called professional did this to her. Had I not seen the receipt, I may not have believed it. The owner or mngr. of Lucky Dog refused to give our money back and said only that had she seen her, she would have "fixed her up"... Like she was doing a touch up on a bad paint job.. When she was asked if she would pay for a bad haircut for herself, her only reply was that she would give the opportunity to fix it.. I don't know about anyone else but I firmly believe that this should have been done right the first time and as an owner/mngr. of a business, would never have allowed an animal to leave looking the way our poor Coco did. I would NEVER recommend Lucky Dog to anyone..., not my worst enemy! I choose not to even think about the tourture that poor Coco went through during this grooming experience. Maybe this was all a blessing in disguise.. My husband took her right next door to CAIN'S DOG HOUSE where she was, as Lucky Dog would say, "fixed up".. Not only did they take the time to bathe her, trim all the necessary areas, clean her ears and even out Coco's body hair, they REFUSED to allow us to pay for it. They were very generous and helpful and it definately shows in our Coco. She is now so very proud of her NEW first haircut and walking around with her head held high (with her adorable little pink bows that fit perfectly) instead of having her tail between her legs in shame. Again, a blessin in disguise, I beleive so. Coco and many, many, many of her friends will be visiting Cain's every opportunity they have!!
