The dog trainer, Jen I think, is great. We did the beginner and intermediate dog training classes here and you can tell she really cares about the dogs and also knows her stuff. Overall, we got what we needed from the training classes and they were very reasonably priced. We brought our dog here once to be groomed and will never be bringing her back. The groomer claimed my dog bit her and she tried to show me a mark that didn't exist and she asked for a tip.. As much as I wanted to believe her, my dog has gone to many different groomers and they always say she's great. I've even watched her being groom and she's very submissive and easy going. I just worry the groomer here hurt my dog or she wanted sympathy tips. After the appointment my dog couldn't get our of that building fast enough. read more

This review is specifically for the Grooming department. As far as the actual store- it's FANTASTIC, very nice people here. They carry everything, plus the stuff you didn't think you needed for your pet, be careful walking around too much :) your pet will love everything. On to the not so fun stuff. Their Grooming Department. This time will be our 5th time trying out their grooming since she was a puppy. At the advice of their pros it made sense for us to keep coming back and we just kept hoping our bad experiences were just "one time" cuts... nope. EVERY single time their groomers butchered our poor pups cuts... A bad hair cut can really traumatize a dog- google it. This past time was the most fun. I got a phone call from my wife saying that she was being lectured about how we need to brush our dog more and not in a nice way at all. We were then told that IF we would not allow them to SHAVE all of the hair off of our dogs ears because she had mats then we could take our dog somewhere else. I was so shocked to hear this. So I called them and had a nice little "teaching moment." The lady I spoke with didn't even want to hear it and did not care- extremely rude. So I'll let the world know :) It's not your job to lecture us. At most your job is to inform, educate, and then with all the excellence you can muster up try to make my dog look the best that you possibly can. Long story short. Y'all are a company, you are there to perform a service and provide CUSTOMERS that pay TOO MUCH money the exact services they ask for. If I don't want my dogs ears shaved you shut your mouth, groom my dog to the best of your community college level abilities, and don't shave her ears. Bottom line... don't argue, don't be rude, just do your job. Another fun add-on grooming experience. Today we had a $100 vet bill because our dog got a fungal infection in her left ear. The last time we got her groomed her ears were NOT cleaned. I don't know how to do it and now they got infected. Our vet today said that is 100% a groomers responsibility. It's not always simple for the everyday dog owner to perform it properly. - We will not be returning to this grooming department. It just seems to be a literal chop shop they book as many animals in a day as possible and then just shave them all to go as fast as possible You can go, but literally every hair cut sucked. Extremely rude and unprofessional grooming staff. Never met grooming staff as rude and unfriendly as the ones here. Called to make an appointment and they said they do groom older dogs. When I got there, the grooming staff said they have to ask the manager and I would have to reschedule. When I called to make a new appointment, they said the manager said it was okay. Then, when I got there, they would come up with excuses not to groom an older dog. It was extremely annoying having to go back and forth. They should have told me they don't want to groom an older dog instead of making us drive back and forth and coming up with excuses every time. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

Great location, being in the Metroplex - easy to get a lot of shopping done without having to travel too far. We have a bird, so we'll find ourselves at this store fairly often. I learned some good stuff on my last visit there. I was looking for a particular type of birdseed, and my wife texted me a link to the item on the website. After locating the product with some help from a floor associate, I noticed that the price on the website was slightly cheaper than the price on shelf. When I was checking out, I happened to mention that to the cashier, and he asked to see it so he could price-match it! I didn't know that was an option, but that was definitely great. Not that it was a big difference, but it was a nice gesture. Also, they have Apple Pay, which is always a plus! read more

I just want to give a shout out to Marissa for helping me out today! I came in looking for a specific dog food but they were completely out. Marissa saw me on my way out and asked if I needed help and I told her they were out of the item I wanted. She immediately helped me look and radioed a supervisor to see if they had any in the back. When they came up empty handed, she offered 3 options: special order to store, she could call another store and they can hold it, or call another store and one of their managers would drive it here and I could pick it up at this store. The first time my puppy went into the grooming area (not even 4 months now) she was a little anxious for a bath and nails cut, which is normal, but she did fine. When we took her today, the one lady was very unfriendly and gave an attitude about not being able to cut my dogs nails. She referred us to the vet so we could give the dog something to help her calm down, but she repeated it multiple times like we were in the wrong for something. Although being first time dog owner, I am well experienced with dogs and do not tolerate the disrespect when it comes to dogs. So honestly my advice would be to go somewhere else. read more

Asked them to price check it and the cashier just brushed me away saying "I don't know " and then tells me "if you want it cheaper to get a smaller one". No apologies, no explanation. This review is about Carli, one of the groomers at the Petsmart Plymouth Meeting, PA location. I took my Goldendoodle to her for grooming and this woman shaved off all of my puppy's fur right down to her skin. She left her looking like a skinny rat. Carli called to say her hair was matted and therefore her only option was to shave her off. This would have never happened with a more experienced groomer. On top of that a $89 plan turned into $120 with surcharges--for what? My dog was not groomed, her fur was shaven off unevenly and she looked so bad. I brush my pup on a regular basis, a minimum of three times a week to avoid matting. I had been taking my pup to Paw Prints Grooming Salon in Philadelphia prior to this and they had always done a great job. I will be going back to them. It was a big mistake to take my pup to Carli and I will never go back there again. read more

We rescued our dog in march and wanted to make sure we had her socialized from the beginning. We started her in Puppy class only a few weeks later. Class went well and we learned so much. Our original trainer had a family emergency and ended up moving from the Philly area. Our new trainer Jessie has been beyond wonderful. We soon found out that our pup has anxiety to forklifts (and garbage trucks and SEPTA buses). She worked with us for a few extra sessions to help us identify the anxious symptoms. We are almost done with Intermediate class, with Jessie as our trainer. She is great and my dog is learning so much. I really recommend these classes. The store itself is a decent pet store. It is clean, the staff is very helpful. We use Banfield as our vet, which we do not use except for routine care, luckily. We have not used the groomers. Our dog loves when we pull up in the parking lot. Its a good pet store! read more

The groomer herself let out a loud groan when I said I was there for my pups nails to be trimmed. On Dec-30-2021, around 6 pm, I took my both kids to choose some fish at 3010 Brandywine Pkwy, Wilmington, DE. Danny helped us to get all my kids preferred ones, thanks, Danny. But the store manager Lexie did not allow us to choose the fish and make my kids cry. I told Lexie very gently please pay attention to her attitude, my kids have no mistake, but she said "you don't like my attitude? You can leave!" I said "you do not have the right to let the customer leave. She said, "I have the right!" Then she dumped all fishes my kids choose into the tank. There is another lady witness who also can not suffer her attitude to my kids and refuse the purchase of the fish she had. Danny saw the process. this review is for the grooming salon here. DO NOT EVER GO HERE DO NOT SUBJECT YOUR DOG OR YOURSELF TO THIS HORRENDOUS EXCUSE FOR A GROOMING. I brought my mini poodle here today. I just got him two weeks ago from a shelter and knew he needed a good grooming. in some parts, his hair was pretty matted, but I was brushing his hair and knew it wasn't THAT THAT bad. so I get there and first red flag. the people are rude and don't seem to care about your dog at all. they exam his curls and say he will probably need a good amount cut off. now THIS I was prepared for. We went over the level of shaving my dog might need and I agreed to a certain level of shaving but made it clear they were not to shave him down to his skin and I would need to be contacted if this were the case. Because I really did not want my dog to be completely shaven, I chose to select the extra option for $7 for an extra 15 minutes of brushing to try and save some of my babies curls. then, they whisked my baby away and due to the level of rudeness of these people, I felt a PIT in my stomach. In hindsight, my boyfriend and i should never have left our baby with these monsters. (and if you hadn't guessed, we never will again) so here's the next part that makes my blood boil. They told me UP TO FOUR HOURS. His grooming was at 9 and I hadn't heard anything by 12:55 so I thought let me give them a call. I call and just ask for an update, figuring maybe it will take a little longer, no big deal, I assumed he was getting some extra brushing after all. Turns out...he was DONE at what seemed to be 12:00pm (our grooming sheet said his groom took three hours) and NO ONE CALLED ME. My baby was sitting in the back, most likely stressed out and wondering what was going on. We went to pay and they brought my dog to me and I almost immediately started sobbing because I felt so bad that I subjected my baby to this torture. He was COMPLETELY SHAVED. NOT WHAT WE HAD AGREED UPON. and upon receiving the receipt, they did not give him the extra brushing I wanted. Were the just too lazy? Judging by their attitudes, my guess is yes so they just said "eff this" and shaved him. As we were leaving, the poor thing looked frightened and took a while to calm down in the car. His shave isn't even to top it all off. I could've done this myself in my bathroom if that is what I wanted him to look like. Petsmart groomers, you guys SUCK and we should not have tipped you a penny for the horror you put my dog through. I will never be coming back here for grooming and I have already informed my friends and family and they all feel the same and will no longer be using your services. I do hope people read this review and choose not to come here either. Find a real groomer not these fake ones. Lesson learned. My baby will be kept FAR AWAY from here. read more

I agree with the previous reviewer - the selection of food is poor, at best. They did have the Nutro natural food I was looking for, but their treat selection basically sucks. The toys - eh. I gave it three stars because I adopted my first kitty, Oscar, from their adoption center. The center was clean (though small) and the people were incredibly friendly. I've never owned a cat before, so over two trips for supplies I had two people help me. The first girl obviously didn't deal with cats, but she tried to be helpful, so I give her props. The second girl had actually fostered Oscar, so she was very helpful and she actually made recommendations against what I didn't need, and didn't try to get me to buy anything that I didn't need or was more expensive than I wanted - she really understood that I was on a budget and wasn't interested in splurging on things my cat wouldn't use. So I give all three stars to the people (especially in the adoption center who genuinely have an interest in finding the cats a *good* home, not just any home willing to give them money!), but not to the products. If you and your animal are not picky about food and/or toys, go for it. If you're a first-time pet owner of any sort of animal, they will be more than happy to help you. But if you're looking for a good selection of healthy food, keep looking. read more

A poor selection of cat food and boring cat toys are the reason for the low scores. Sure they have plenty of low end junk foods, full of by product, unnecessary and harmful carbs, and strange ingredients but they have zero in premium, high quality foods. Not even Natural Balance. I prefer mainly grain free foods with good meat ingredients. I wouldn't feed Petsmart's food to a dog. The cat toys are boring. No good toy mice. I like the ones with rubber or rubber cement bodies under the fur and lots of irregular shapes that bounce funny. All they have here are stuffed, soft mice that offer no challenge. read more

I have been here a few times where my Morkie has been a regular getting groomed and the staff in the grooming area is more than friendly and nice to do business with. Every time, my little one comes out looking great. My only complaints have been; 1) never be late as they will not see you. This is at least how it is with the Banfield vet in the premises. One time I was at work called them and asked if we needed an appointment and what time they closed. They told me that we didn't need any appointment but would need to wait if there were others in before us, which is totally understandable, etc. so I left work early, picked up my dog and drive in. Once we arrived, the woman told us since it was our first time coming to this location, we would have need an appointment. This would have been great if she would have let me know that an appointment varied to whether you have or have not been to the location before prior to me leaving work early to make it. The even more frustrating part was that there was no one else waiting for services and they still wouldn't even take us. None the less, another time we had a check up appointment and we're running to make it from NYC. I called to let them know that we were running about 15 minutes behind and was notified that it was fine. We showed up actually 19 minutes late and they wouldn't take us. I understand that it was my fault for running behind in the first place but again, when I called they should have notified me that they wouldn't be able to see us and that way I could have avoided having to take extra Turnpikes, not been running and just moved onto the next plans I had for the day. Lastly, I had gone into the store once to buy an airline pet carry bag and looking for something, preferably natural, to calm my little one on the 6 hour flight to CA. I asked for a clerks advice of the hugging vest item vs some homeopathic scent stuff that is supposed to be calming and the entire time she was giving me attitude. I eventually left and instead went to Petco where the service/ assistance was actually a relief to work with. read more

I am giving one star because zero stars was not an option. The first red flag should have been that the place was filthy when we walked in. the floors were dirty and there was dog hair everywhere, it looks like they don't sweep it up during the day? Then, as I was checking my puppy in, the groomer seemed pretty uninterested in what I had to say about my dog and her tendencies, especially the fact that she is new to grooming and she's never been around multiple dogs at once. So very hesitant, I leave her there and they immediately take her to the back where I can't see her. I got in my car to drive away, and as I drove around the building I see the groomer who is supposed to be taking care of my dog, standing outside smoking!!! I gave them the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe someone else washed them and she just did the trimming...who knows. When I checked her in they said it would take around 3 hours maybe a little longer, which was fine, and that they would call me when she was done. Well 3.5 hours pass and I hear nothing so I go in to the store and my dog is nowhere to be seen...I asked them for an update, and the groomer who is clearly more interested in socializing says "oh yeah, she's done" leading me to believe that she has BEEN done for awhile and they just put her in a crate and neglected to call me! Then, when the groomer finally came to talk to me, they told me that my dog was aggressive and mean (did not elaborate on what she meant or what happened) and that she had to put her in the crate away from the other dogs...my dog has NEVER been aggressive towards any person and leads me to believe that something happened that provoked her behavior. When they finally brought her out to me she was running to me to take her away. Not to mention that her haircut was horrible, they did exactly what we said we didn't want them to do to her hair (in terms of how she looks when she is done), she doesn't look like she got a bath at all, AND she has a spot on her face right by her eye where she was cut/nicked with the scissors. Thank god we had a coupon and didn't have to pay for this. It was absolutely horrible from start to finish. We will never be back! read more

I'm regularly impressed by PetSmart and its very friendly staff. We took our newly rescued dog here to buy some supplies for her, including a harness for walking her. Two of the sales associates helped us try multiple harnesses on her and helped us choose the right one for our needs (to train her not to pull when walking). They were so nice and spent so much time with us. When we were checking out, several other employees stopped by to pet our dog and compliment us on her, which was very nice. As you might expect from a chain store, the prices are also good. I also think the selection is ample; not sure what others are talking about in their reviews about limited selection. It's definitely worth getting the store card, as they run regular sales, which come in handy when buying regular pet supplies (like food and litter). While I generally prefer locally owned shops to chain stores, this is a very good store, and I will continue to visit them for our cats and dog. read more

Generally, I'm not a big fan of big pet stores as they don't always carry the best stuff for your pets. I get my dog food from more of a specialty place, but I do stop in here for dog treats and fish supplies from time to time. The store itself is clean and staff is always friendly and helpful. I've asked the folks back in the aquatic area lots of questions and they've been very helpful. Prices are a little high and you can certainly find some of the treats cheaper at places like Walmart and Target. You can bring your pets into the store...just make sure they do their business outside first. read more

It's my fault for trusting the people in the fish department. I should have done my own research. It's not fair of me to expect the people in the fish department to know anything about fish. Without getting into too much detail, I'll just say that on two occasions, I had asked if a particular fish were suited for a 30 gallon tank. Can't remember what the first one was, but the second was a clown loach. They said I could easily put them in a 30 gallon tank and they would be happy in a group (suggesting I should buy several). I bought two. Several weeks later I FINALLY decided to read up on them only to find out that they get huge and to keep them in a tank twice that size would barely be tolerable for them. I realize that these people aren't marine biologists and they are probably given very minimal training, but shit, just say you don't know before giving me bad advice. read more

The groomer cut my dogs tongue to the point it had to be taken to another vet because the vet inside didn't have time for her. Wow. This is a review for the grooming salon. Just moved here from out of state and I've always taken my dogs to petsmart for their nails. My dog is a little bit of a baby when it comes to his nails being done and I let them know it takes 2 people. So I paid and went back and 1 girl was working on him and it was a disaster. She fought him and he came close to falling off the table with their leash around his neck. But they got him done and my husband took him outside. But this same girl struggled with my puppy just as much. I could hear her yelling at both my dogs. And not one other person stopped to help her. I'll never take them back here. The banfield is 5 stars though. We have the plan and the vet is amazing with my animals. read more

DON'T TAKE YOUR ANIMAL HERE FOR GROOMING!!!! I Took my little Yorki here for a hair cut and it was the worse experience ever! When she was picked up she was scared to death. (My dog has had many hair cuts before as she is older) Her cut has deeper "trimmings" in spots then most of her hair, hair was not trimmed around ears, neck, under belly.... A MESS..When I first took her I should have seen the red flag, The staff was rude and they were complaining about other dogs they had to groom that day. It was totally apparent that the majority of staff didn't not want to be there. I personally think if I'm going to drop off my pet for several hours I want to make sure my pet is being treated with care. While I wasn't there to observe anything happening during the time my dog was there, I will NEVER be putting my pet in this disgusting environment again. One star is unfair! Horrible Groomers! I was always wondering why my dog shivers to death when we walk in, well tonight I found out. My Maltipom had an Appt at 3:00, for a bath, nail trim and sanitary trim. I left him with Nicole. I went back to pick him up at 4:45, and was told he would be finished in about 15 minutes, so I stood outside the door to wait. Nicole got Hunter from the back room and put him on a table. She started brushing him very aggressively, to the point where my dog was crying. After the brushing she started to trim his nails. After I heard him screech the first time, she yelled, "STOP" and made him stand still. I heard him cry again and heard her yell to stop biting. At that point I went inside while she was still clipping his nails and hurting him. She yelled at him again (as if he has any idea what she's saying). That's when I told Nicole to give me my dog, he's done. Nicole walked my dog over to me and never said one word to me. She didn't ask me whats wrong, she didn't apologize...... nothing. I took my dog and will NEVER go back there again! I will be calling the manager in the AM. read more

My daughter went in to buy a gecko, the sales woman working in the reptile department was the most rude person we've come in contact with. She rolled her eyes several times and gave us completely false information on how to care for the gecko. She had no idea what she was talking about and when we finally showed her accurate information she Began to roll her eyes again, turn her head and mumble under her breath. Seems petsmart should look more closely into who they hire and maybe train them to have a clue what they are talking about. This woman should be fired! First off the Groomers called to cancel my appointment on the original day I had it scheduled for which was an inconvenience but didn't bother me much. Tried to tell me that for a puppy trim they do not trim any hair on the body only will only the face and feet , Again I've been coming to petsmart for over 5 years never once did a groomer say that's their policy as I've had it done multiple times. Then she proceeded to inform me that last visit they did not enter Kasey's rabies information into the system for what reason I'm unsure of because I brung it to my last appointment , seemed like a lot of excuses just so she wouldn't have to provide me with service today but I said Id be back in 10 mins I'll be right back she said OK. I drove all the way home and when I returned EXACTLY 12 mins later she was extremely rude again and refused to take my dog to groom her because I was 2 mins over time. Didn't offer me another appointment, NOTHING. The groomer's name Is Nicole K and my encounter with the way she spoke to me and handled everything was unprofessional and what I felt to be RACIST. I'm an African American woman and I'll never be returning to petsmart ever again after the way I was treated today. We used Petsmart for grooming only and recently took our 9 lb dog for a cut and thats literally what he got... cut. They cut him with the electric razor. After he was cut they called to let me know that its policy that Banfield would have to look at him and make sure hes ok. I agreed and Banfield cleaned the cut and glued the area together. This pet store rocks. It's huge and always has my cat Ollie's fancy brand of wet food by the cases, which i buy from them in basically truckloads. my cat is thin but a whopping 18 pounds as a 1 yr old nebelung and Maine coon mix, but I still like calling him a pudger. They have rad fish tank selections and decorations, many fish that look to be heathy and in clean environments. I just got some new decor for my fish, Sushirito, plus a new light bulb for his tank. A friendly worker helped me locate the bulb, talked fish with me, as well as fish foods. read more
