The team gave me a two to three hour estimate and advised they would call me when he was ready. They hit the timing dead on at two hours. Last year I would have given VIP Pet at any mobile location a 5 star rating. Not today. I gave them…read moreone star because not all of their associates were as rude, insulting, disrespectful and patronizing as the vet. Backgrounder: we bought a house with a large, fenced yard so that our hunting dog could have the freedom to run and explore to his heart's content because walks were never enough for our registered field dog. So he usually runs around our property without a collar which we only use when we take him out. Today, we couldn't find his collar in our hurry to make it to Discount Pet on Hammer Lane for his heart worm test before VIP Pet closed for the week, so we used what was in sight: a one-piece leash with a loop at the end aka a choke collar just so we could make it on time. Although she knew absolutely nothing about us and our dog, the vet immediately started criticizing us for using such a collar, saying it was "unacceptable" in a very patronizing tone, going on and on, asking if we wanted such a collar around our necks, and even having the temerity to tell my husband he didn't know how to train our dog who is an 8-year-old veteran of multiple, always successful and safe hunting trips that would be impossible without careful training. Despite knowing nothing about our dog's temperament, our relationship with him (he's our baby), or our background as loving dog humans for over 30 years, she was disrespectful, obnoxious and highly presumptuous, putting us off ever using VIP Pet Services again. Through the years, we've spent hundreds of dollars at VIP Pet. I liked the convenience and their staff until today. You can be sure that after this bad experience, I'll be looking for a good neighborhood vet who knows how to treat humans, as well as dogs, humanely and respectfully.

They were very sweet with them and made sure they knew their names and their quirks since this was their first visit. When I picked them up I was elated because they looked fantastic! Zara (white dog) is my nervous dog who other groomers might not be as patient to give her a cute style around the face, and usually just shave it because of chronic tear stains. My dogs are 5 and 6 years old and my dad always has something negative to say when they've come back from the groomers in the past. It's the first time ever that he flashed a huge grin and sang nothing but high praises on how beautiful their cuts are from Mary Lou! There's a first time for everything!

I have not personally adopted or fostered any animals through Friends of the Animal Community…read more(FOAC). I cannot speak from experience in that respect. That being said - I have encountered Friends of the Animal Community often at events in the area, and I have personally witnessed the positive impact that they have had and continue to make within the Tuolumne community. From FOAC's hardworking volunteers - to the inspiring community that rallies around them through donations, fostering, etc - FOAC has cultivated a powerful network of kind animal loving individuals, who work tirelessly to help animals in need. It can be challenging for many people to adopt or foster - due to space concerns, rental rules, funds etc. The number of animals needing homes in the Tuolumne area is staggering. FOAC is often limited with what they can do - due to limited space, limited funds, and limited foster/adoptive homes - but they never stop persevering. FOAC regularly uses social media to increase awareness about animals that need help in the area. Sometimes it is a social media post about a dog that recently lost its owner. Sometimes it is a post about a cat that needs to be re-homed. Sometimes it is asking for immediate fosters for new puppies. The list goes on. I am often blown away by the power of a FOAC social media post. It is inspiring how quickly people will respond on a FOAC post about an animal in need. Sometimes people step right up and offer to foster and/or adopt (they will then go through the proper formal application process to proceed). Sometimes people will tag friends - who may be looking to adopt or foster. Sometimes people will offer donations to help with medical costs etc. Sometimes people will offer virtual love and share out the post. No matter how people show up - the most important thing is that they do. FOAC gets this. They welcome all support. FOAC and their volunteers are always quick to respond to questions on social media posts. Not only do they answer quickly, but they answer honestly. They recognize the urgency to find safe loving homes - whether they be temporary or permanent - for the beautiful and often scared animals in their care.
