There are better options. Booked an appointment yesterday and was told they would call the vet for proof of rabies vaccination. Arrived with both my dogs today and was told that they couldn't take them because I didn't bring their records. They also said it's against their policy to call the vet, and their trained staff wouldn't have offered to do that, but it's possible that I spoke with a visiting groomer from another store that didn't have the same policy. Very frustrating conversation. I offered to run home and email or txt them a picture of the vaccinations but they are not set up to receive emails or texts and would not allow me to leave the dogs there. They seem to have a lot of excuses and no solutions. This was a complete fail in my opinion. I called a mobile service and feel 100% better going that route. read more

Decent store with almost everything you'll need for any type of pet you have. The tropical fish section is a little light on variety and the lizards and snakes are almost extinct, but they do have all the trinkets you need for these animals if that's what you have. My only complaint is that they rarely carry the dog food that we like, so we need to find a feed store or ask them to special order it. They do an okay job on grooming although expensive. Very friendly and helpful staff! read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. I brought my 6 month old Yorkie here to get groomed for the first time and they completely butchered her hair. When making her appointment over the phone, they told me it would take about 3-4 hours. However, my pup stayed there for 6 HOURS and still managed to come out looking like a mess. I dropped her off at 10am and didn't get her back until 4pm. One of the many things that bothered me is that they made me pay before I got my dog back... $69. It was $43 for the grooming and $26 for some nail filing thing which was a total rip off. Anyway, when I got her back she was completely frightened and her hair was AWFUL. He ears were completely butchered and that hair on the sides of her face we noticeably uneven. I told this to the lady who groomed her, and by the looks of her pink and blue hair, she clearly didn't know what she was doing. She offered to trim it, but I declined. I had to get to work in an hour and my pup had been stuck there all day. I would've complained to the manager if I had the time but I was on a time crunch. When we got home, I noticed that they had shaved her belly. I know the lady said she a little matted and she said she could use some detangle product since I didn't want them to shave her hair. Obviously she didn't take my choice into account. Aside from them shaving her belly, they did that sloppy too. You would imagine that they could've done it a little more seamlessly, but no. It seriously goes from her normal coat, to bald. So furious with this place. I would expect better from such a well-known company too. Never, ever, going back. read more

I've only been here for dog goods and services, so I'm speaking solely on that. Their trainers are great--we had Sheila, and she was a joy. Good selection of products, and they accept competitor coupons too, so the book of coupons we got for PetCo when we adopted our dog are good here. I've only used the grooming for nail grinding so far, and they did that well. Oh, and my dog loves coming here as well. She often gets pampered with treats (they always ask me if it's ok first, which I appreciate) from the friendly cashiers at check-out. read more

I am pleased with the overall service I've received from Petsmart in the past. However, my positive experience today prompted me to write this review. For one reason or another there was a misunderstanding as to what date I was supposed to start training with my Akita puppy. The misunderstanding resulted in some frustration and no training class. However, the store manager made it a point to contact me this evening, apologize for the communication error, and expressed his desire to resolve the matter. The truth is that Petsmart is a large corporation and it doesn't make much of a difference if my puppy and I attend one of their training packages, yet the store manager went above and beyond to ensure that I was a satisfied customer. I just moved to this area from out of town and I've been going to Pet Smart grooming back east for years. I went to this location for the first time and I will NEVER go back! We have taken our dog here for over two years to get a bath and brush. We had some problems In the beginning with different groomers here, however yesterday when we picked up our dog she was red and had two marks on her belly. PetSmart offered forms to take her to there vet Banfield. We took her the next day and the conclusion was an allergic reaction possibly but they weren't sure. They prescribed an ointment for her, the Manager Brad.. refuses to pay for the product. Are you kidding me!!! Worst customer service I have EVER experienced! There are some nice and caring staff that do work there, but we won't return.. read more

If there was any way to give this grooming location zero stars, I would. We have a miniature schnauzer who we groom & brush regularly, but we were having scheduling challenges with our dog's regular groomer, so we made an appointment at Pet Smart. At check-in, we discussed that we wanted a standard schnauzer cut. The employee looked our dog over and saw that she had minimal tangles. She said that there would be no problem giving her a standard schnauzer cut. When I picked her up, the employee who did her grooming was not there. After seeing our dog, it's probable that that employee was too nervous to face us. Everything about our dog's grooming was substandard. The cuts were uneven, she still had a knot in her fur and the "groomer" had completely cut off our dog's beard! The beard is the most significant defining look of a schnauzer and it takes longer to grow than any other part. If this "groomer" had any breed knowledge or experience, she would have known that you NEVER chop off a schnauzer's beard. This happened about 2 months ago and our dog STILL doesn't look like a schnauzer. And on top of all of this, I paid more than what I pay at her regular groomer and even tipped BEFORE I saw our dog. If you are seeking any kind of breed specific cut, DON'T go here. Awful experience. read more

The manager of this store was incredibly rude. I was walking up to her checkout line as she was finishing with a customer. She seemed distracted and didn't look up, so I asked if she was open. She ignored me, walked passed, and went to the next line to get a customer. I said, "oh, I thought you were closed." She responded, "I was and now I am taking her." I realize customer service is a dying field, but how about common courtesy. I would have been happy to let someone go in front of me if they had been waiting. It is sad to see how common this kind of treatment has become. What a fabulous example manager Diana is setting for her staff. Bravo! read more

I had a great experience with this grooming salon! My dog is a crazy boy and hates the dryer more than anything in this world! In the past, I've been able to drop him off a day after I washed him (when he's had time to air dry in the comfort of our home) and then Petsmart groomers would just shave him. It would be an hour or so process and he would be just fine. This last time, the girl on the phone didn't know I had been allowed to do that so told me I had to have the bath as well. I had a lot going on that day so I figured oh well ill run errands and be back in the 3.5-4 hours they said it would take. I warned them about his tolerance with the dryer and they said ok. It ended up being 5 hours but the manager, Amy, called me to update me saying he was air drying because they didn't want him to be panicking (something I really appreciated that they didn't force on him). Because of the extra time they took, she complimented the entire service because I think she could tell I was bothered about the length of time he had been there. She was so nice and gave me a few options to handle the situation next time for him. I really liked how I was spoken to and how he was treated. Had a terrible experience at the grooming salon. I have been taking my 6 year old Cocker there for over a year, and haven't had any problems beyond the occasional not-so-great haircut or water in the ears. He always got glowing "report cards" from the groomers. The last appointment I scheduled, they put me down for the wrong day, so I accommodated them and changed my schedule. When I dropped him off in the morning, they said it would be 4 hours, which I thought was odd, since it usually only takes 3. I figured they were just being conservative. 4 hours later... no call from them, so I stopped by assuming he must be close to done (I had other things to do with my day, after all), and was turned away with no estimate as to when he'd be finished other than "more than an hour." After waiting another hours at home I called and again was told he wasn't ready. After another hour and a half of waiting... still no call from them explaining that they were running late or when he would be finished... I decided it had been quite long enough and I went to get him, finished or not. When I arrived he was out on the tables with 2 groomers cutting the fur around his paws. They took him in the back "to finish his ears" while I paid for him. No apology for taking 6.5 hours for a single groom. They only said that he wouldn't hold still. (He is a cocker, he's only still when he's sleeping.) After I paid, the salon manager came out from the back to say that my dog had been injured and I had to take him to the vet. They had cut his paw- not sure if that was before or after I got there. I waited while the store manager went in the back to assess the situation. Several groomers, not attending dogs, stood around and stared at me and didn't say anything. By that time, I just wanted to take my dog home. We spent another two hours at the emergency vet, waiting to get his foot looked at. It was just a cut to the pad, but it needed cleaning and daily antibiotic wash. To their credit, PetSmart paid for everything, including the vet bill. They called me to follow up, but it seemed like they were just concerned that there wouldn't be an additional vet bill coming. Not sure if there was a recent staffing change or what- I never had any problems before- but we won't be going back. I am sure there are other groomers with better professionalism, time-management, experience, and courtesy to call when they are running late. read more

Review primarily for dog training. (If you don't want to read I can sum it all up in a few words: MIKE IS AMAZING!!! He is the dog whisperer as far as I'm concerned and if possible I'd adopt him.) I've been going to this store for a long time and its always been a fairly good place for everything and depending on who's working its an ok to good experience. I've always had dogs and I've always been a dog lover. I've never really had any problems with my dogs, and never really trained them much besides little things. Almost a year back now we rescued an adorable pit/rot/shepard mix at best guess he's now 2. For all I know he could have a lot more mixed in. We decided to keep him and everything was great at first. It was a couple weeks later when walking that we found out he had a serious reaction to other dogs. And by serious I mean the sight of a dog on a walk would cause him to go into a frenzied attack mode which I couldn't control. The first time it happened he dragged me to the ground! I had no idea what to do. Over months I bought choke collars, shock collars, read tons of online and printed text resources. Finally it was either lock him in the house, give him up, or find a trainer. I looked for info online, talked to a few private ones, and check out my local petco and petsmart. Because of prices I decided to go with a petco or petsmart right away and their prices were exactly the same. I knew I would have to do private lessons because obviously couldn't be around other dogs in a class. After visiting both I went with Mike, and honestly in the beginning I decided on him because he looked like the only one that would be able to restrain my dog if necessary LOL. The first few classes started slow. We learned some basic commands, and honestly it was a lot of learning for me. When we had some commands done very good we started walking around the store and putting what we learned to use. Honestly at first the commands only worked when we were really far away from another dog, almost an entire aisle or more away even. A few weeks of practice it was getting a little better, enough that I could notice a small change. I purchased a second set of private lessons with Mike. We were halfway through my second set of lessons and during one session it was like all of a sudden everything changed. It was like over the course of 30-60min the small success I had been seeing all of a sudden became this huge success. In a day it went from being an aisle away with not reaction to being in the same aisle, to being with in feet of another dog! A couple weeks more of training and WE PASSED ANOTHER DOG IN AN AISLE WITH NO REACTION!!! Another week I honestly couldn't believe it was the same dog and quite honestly I was astonished. No words could express how I felt. Since then my babies been in group classes (yes in the same room as other dogs!! and little to no reaction at worst a bark here and their). Now I'm not gonna lie for dogs he doesn't know we cant go nose to nose with them and play or anything but we can easily pass another dog with no issue. I honestly cannot say enough about the difference, it's a 1000% improvement. Cost wise each set of privates cost me $209. When I first started a single $209 was a lot for me. In retrospect with what I got out of it I would have paid anything for the results. But all in all I got away at $418, and for what I got in return it was a steal. Whether you just got a new puppy, need just the basics, or have a case more like mine where its extreme and pretty much dangerous. Then this is the place, ask for Mike. read more

I am writing this review based on a recent shopping trip to the Stevenson Ranch Petsmart. My step daughter , Mindi, and I took our two oldest geriatric dogs along for the shopping trip. One of the dogs, little Opal, was adopted from this exact store more than 5 years ago. She's a chihuahua with a medical condition that unfortunately has her looking like a little balloon no matter what we do with her diet. As soon as the manager looked at her she commented Mindi "are you giving that thing glucosamine,what is she 20 pounds?". The woman in line behind us heard the comment and tried to soothe my step daughters feelings. I thought the manager was out of line by assuming my daughter was a poor pet parent. Mindi, my step daughter, is the most compassionate nurturing and humane pet parent I know. I also purchased a turtle filter for Mindi's turtles which had to be returned because it was defective. I know from time to time things just don't work . Later that evening we put the filter together. Before we put anything into the turtle tank I made sure to test the filter with clean water. As I was inspecting the new filter I noticed it really smelled horrible. I took the filter apart and was appalled because it was apparent the filter was not new! Needles to say we were very careful to wash our hands and rinse the contaminated filter thoroughly. I retuned the filter the following day. The cashier looked at the filter and said " I remember this, someone already returned this because of the same problem". I wasn't surprised at all! read more

I bring two of my dogs here for grooming. Both are always very well taken care of and come home looking great. The staff is very helpful.

The groomer, Alise, or Alicia, absolutely hacked my dog's coat to pieces. She was instructed not to cut the dog's hair whatsoever and when pick up had cut all the feathers off his legs, front and back, cut his chest ruff off, leaving a vee mullet and the rest of him looked like a bowl cut. It will takes at least a year to grow out. When I went back in the am to get his missing harness another worker told me that they get continuous complaints about this groomer and the manager refuses to do anything about it. I spend over $300 a month at Pet supply stores, not to mention dog grooming---never again at Petsmart. read more

I'm not a big shopper at PetSmart as it is, since their prices are generally $5-20 more than any family owned pet store. So the time I'm pressed for time in the middle of work, I stopped in to grab a few things. Now I'll only buy things on sale here for reasons that need no explanation. Upon picking out a bag of treats on sale, upon ringing them up, the price did not match. I informed the cahsier and told her the exact price they're listed as and where they were. She sent another girl to check the price, while trying to lightly argue the price. The girl she sent could not even find the same item and reiterated prices for totally different items that made no sense if you have any idea what your selling. At the end of about a $4 price difference argument I told her I did not want them if she could not validate the price they're clearly on the organized shelf for. She apologized, however when they go to return said item to stock, they'll see the tag that clearly says the exact price of $2.67, just as I informed her. Needless to say, now my service dog doesn't get treats today, and I'll never be returning to this location regardless of its convenience. Went there on Memorial Day to get Cosequin DS for my dog. Since the item in store was $49.99, I decided to do the usual price match from online that I used to be able to do not too long ago. Printed out Petco's $41.99 price from their website. When I brought it in, Anthony, a manager, told me that they don't match online prices anymore, but only local retail competitors' prices. So he called Petco to see if the item was in stock and what the price was there. The Petco employee said that the price was $49.98 in store. I figured it would simply be cheaper to order online and walked out. As I was walking out, Anthony said "We don't match fake prices," implying that I had printed out a fake webpage of some sort. He could have simply looked at Petco's website before saying that, but instead he made a loyal customer furious. Since I was already half-way out the door with my slow, geriatric dog on the leash, I didn't bother turning around to fight that comment. Instead, I contacted corporate. Unfortunately, even corporate seemed to be more focused on educating me about their "new" policy rather than discussing the way I was rudely treated. As for the Cosequin DS...found it online for $24.99 brand new. I will be buying most of my animals' necessities online from now on, and it won't be from Petsmart.com. They have lost a long-time customer that has more than the average amount of pets. read more

This review is based on the grooming department. Took the furry annoyances to get groomed (one washed, other clipped) as I just didn't feel like doing it myself this time. Nice people, very good with the pooches, but I have a serious pet peeve with up-selling, and an even worse one for peeps not explaining that certain services are an additional charge. I was asked if I use a specific shampoo, and I said "Oatmeal, I think". Well, the girl took that as me requesting some special shampoo that cost more money. My pug hates her nails chopped, so I use a grinder. I explained a grinder is a better way to trim her nails, and voila, I now apparently ok'd an $11.00 per dog nail grinding service. Lame! The right thing for these Petsmarties would have been to "tell" me the costs up front, not hit me with a bill that was $30 more than I expected AND more than what was originally quoted. Nice people, dogs looked ok, but that stunt just lost a good customer. Back to Pet-hoe from now on! read more

This is a review of the grooming salon. I agree wholeheartedly with the very bad reviews many have put here. This was about the 3rd time bringing our dog here. First 2 times were fine....no incident....In fact the first time I brought him in they write a little review on a brochure to let you know how your puppy did. No problems at all with trimming nails, bath, etc. This time his groomer was Sophia. THE most rude, unprofessional and uncaring person for this type of job. From the moment we brought him in she had a "blank stare" on her face and was unfriendly. But I wasn't expecting to her be smiling & excited to groom my dog, but that was the least of my worries. 2 hrs later I get a call from Sophia informing me that it would be an extra 1- 1 1/2 hrs to groom our dog because he was frightened of the blow dryer. Never before had he been afraid of blow drying at petsmart and we bathe him almost weekly and blow dry him where sometimes he even falls asleep! I was confused, but accepted it and said "ok" no problem. 4 hrs later she calls to tell me our dog was all finished but she wasn't able to clip around his feet because he was "biting." Again....confused.....shocked......but still accepted it and went to pick him up. Arrived to pick him up and she says she was not able to clip his nails. Now THAT finally got to me because I thought THIS was way too much......from no incident EVER to now everything she couldn't do?!?! First of all that was the main reason I brought him there was for his nails.. So I asked her why? and she looked at me with a rude face (w/ my 10 yr old son standing next to me) and says "YOU'RE DOG BITES."......that was it....."YOU'RE DOG BITES." and staring at me like my son & I had some sort of disease.....I was flabbergasted. I agree w/ previous reviewers that all the groomers there look like zombies and don't want to be there. Who knows what they do to the dogs "in the back?" These teenage girls with "flowers" in their hair, made up like they're going to some "goth" concert need to be better trained and supervised. It is fairly obvious that their manager "Veronica" has no leadership skills and no ability to train and manage her groomers. I would never recommend my worst enemy's dog to be groomed at this place. Please do not wait until something bad happens to your dog. I have a feeling something bad happened to him during his previous grooming session that this time he may have been scared. He has never acted in the way they "described." I don't believe that to be true in any shape or form and if it is true, it is so out of the ordinary for him that they must have done some damage to him previously. The 2nd time I was there another customer came away with a complaint that they had cut their dogs nails too short & it was bleeding. I should have taken that complaint more seriously and not gone back this time. I will do everything in my power to have that Sophia removed as groomer at Petsmart because they will be losing many grooming customers due to her. In fact I will be contact corporate office after this to have her evaluated. If possible, that entire grooming department. read more

Recently I took my small dog to Petsmart for grooming. This was her second trip there, with the first going very well. At this visit, an accident happened, causing her toenail to be pulled partially out. This happens to dogs from time to time and I do not hold Petsmart responsible for it at all! However I want to strongly compliment them on how they handled it! The store manager (Cynthia) immediately took the dog from the groomer and rushed her to a local veterinarian, while a clerk called me to tell me what happened and where my dog was going. I met them at the vet. Cynthia was very gentle with the dog and very insistent that the dog get immediate care. Petsmart paid for the vet visit, the medications and any needed follow-up. In fact, they insisted that they would take care of it. They called the next day to check up on the dog. This is outstanding customer service, far above the call of duty! They have gained a customer for life through their actions....and I thank them all for what they did! read more

NEVER TAKE YOUR DOG TO THIS SALON HERE!! I had been taking my dog there for a few years, but this past year I've had such terrible experiences I will never bring my dog there ever again! Just to name a few problems, I brought my dog in July for a haircut and bath. I picked him up and as I was driving home I noticed he kept licking his stomach so when I got home my husband and I took a look at him and he was covered in knicks, bruises, abrasions and open cuts!!! When I called in disgust they told me it was a new student who "groomed" my dog and they will talk to her. Thats it! Thats your excuse for abusing my dog, a new student who you'll talk to!!! They assured me I wouldn't get a new person when I brought my dog in next time, so when I brought my dog in next it wasn't a student. However I proceeded to get the worst customer service I have ever received in any pet store!! The man examined my dog accusing me of animal abuse, because my dog had what he called "skin disease", because of a "scab" he found between his toes. I immediately grabbed my dog to examine it to discover it wasn't a scab but a large freckle/spot! When I pointed this out to him he said thats a scab to me, then ran his fingers over it and said oh ma'm you're right thats a freckle..obviously!! Then he asked does your dog have skin disease again and I said NO! He just has really dry skin sometimes & gets dandruff and we get special oatmeal shampoo from the vet when his dandruff flares up, which fyi my dog hasn't had in over 2 years and that was just because we took him to the beach and the salt water dried his skin out! He's a hypoallergenic dog he has hair not fur, so if he was actually smart when it comes to dogs he would know its common in dogs with hair not fur! Then he asks me if I brought the shampoo with me and I said no why would I he doesn't need it & Ive brought him in many times & he's been groomed with no issues. He replies to me with Oh so I guess Im just supposed to use our harsh drying tangerine shampoo on him then since you didnt care to bring your shampoo for his skin disease. First of all its not skin disease, because if dandruff was considered skin disease then over 90% of America, by your standards, would have skin disease! And second when I asked if that freckle looked like skin disease you told me I don't know ma'm Im not a vet. Oh but you considered yourself enough of a vet to diagnose my dog with skin disease before!! Third, you shouldn't be using a harsh tangerine shampoo on any dogs so if the shampoo, that people pay you to use to on their dogs, is a super harsh drying shampoo like you say it is why are you even using that!! I have never had this treatment before in my life! I was so outraged I even called my vet and spoke with him about my dogs skin and even the vet, who I just saw recently, reassured me my dog is fine and hasn't had a dandruff problem or even any history of skin disease or allergies ever! So as far as the PETSMART salon goes, screw your business and your "new students" who abuses dogs and your "seasoned workers" who abuse your clients! I will NEVER come back ever again!!! This isn't just an angry rant I'm telling you people for your own animals safety is telling you DO NOT GO HERE!! read more
