Went to this location for filter media for my tank and decided to buy the last 3 black mollies they had left. I realized they had ick the next morning and took them Out of my 40 gallon tank. A few days later it spread to all of my fish. Fish I've had for EVER are now dying despite my treating them. I called the store and they had literally nothing to say. Been purchasing both prescription and regular cat food at their hazel del site for years. Because I have a Banfield account for pet care. They say they have a absolute return policy for pet food just bring it back. I accidentally purchased a wrong cat food because a couple of the cans up front of the box had the correct type but the rest of it was a slightly different flavor/and type. So I brought it back and just did an exchange for the same product different flavor. The price went up .20 cents from when I purchased it. So they charged me 4.99 for the additional cost. I noticed it before they finished the exchange. I said you're going to charge me .20 more for these? The checker said yeah, cause they are more expensive now. I said yeah I get that, but I am returning something you can charge that price for. I should get a straight exchange she said no we don't do that. For me it was like a lightning bolt. It's really a complete shame that this stores employees aren't more welcoming. In fact, my family likes the store, the selection, the cleanliness.... it's why I've gone back there a couple of times. The reason I won't visit the store ever again, though? After today, it's been pretty solidly confirmed that the employees (at least in aquatics; more than one occasion) are rude and actually will come at you like you're stupid and don't know what you're doing. The attitude those people carry astonish me and it's quite insulting. Me and my husband won't be insulted any more. Plenty of pet stores to choose from that treat customers way better. Word to the wise: if at all anyone aquatic employees asks you about your set up - Tell then it's literally none of their business. They aren't asking you that to educate you. They aren't asking you that because they love the hobby, too. They are asking you that because they view you as an ignorant moron and will threaten to refuse you service if they don't like how your set up sounds. I was in to buy food etc for my animals. while having a conversation in line I found out there was a Guinea pig up for adoption. After asking a few questions I asked if I could see her. She was so little but very well taken care of. I made the decision to adopt and they got her ready. Before leaving they also gave me two bags of fresh veggies. A Hazel Dell PetSmart store is very local and somewhat close to us here in Salmon Creek! I bought my wife a kitten for Christmas as our old cat passed away at age 17 a couple of years back? The old one was a snow-shoe and came all the way from Russia with her son and family when they immigrated and the Tom snow-shoe named Richard of all things came with them. This new kitten 8 month's is a Siamese female and named Ritchie! The breeds are close? So a trip to PetSmart was the order of the day to purchase dry and in wet catfood for Ritchie and as well as all the paraphernalia that goes with a new pet [cat] ownership? The store personnel was very helpful . And I need mention the parking at PetSmart was very good with lots of room to park close! So 5 stars***** and a Thank you very much! read more

Bad customer service, bait and switch grooming up charges, management is indifferent, inflated prices on everything. A perfect example of what not to do in brick and mortar retail. Regarding my earlier comment about Pet Smarts inflated pricing...I called two other groomers in the area and was quoted $45 and $50. Pet Smart charged me $85 for the same service. They added $15 to my bill when I was told there wouldn't be any increase since a conditioner was on sale. I told the manager that I wouldn't be a customer anymore because it was pretty shady. She said ok and literally just turned around and walked away. It was actually pretty funny. I was also going to buy a collar and some K9 Advantix totaling $100.98 at Pet Smart. I drove to Petco and paid $80.45. I'm sure there are a couple of customers that don't mind this place. However, from the other reviews, it looks like this place sucks on a regular basis. read more

I used to take Penelope (baby faced Pekingese) to Beastie Boutique for grooming, we had a really great groomer there who ended up moving to Oregon. We also tried Petco and would see a groomer there we enjoyed, well last time I took her there she was groomed by someone else who literally dragged her back .. Penelope is small, not aggressive (they would have that on her report) and is too precious to be dragged back like a diseased animal who committed some sort of crime (it was that dramatic and sad). Petco also is horrible to their live animals (see other review for Jantzen Beach Petco) so I will not support their business anymore. Back to the review for PetSmart, I was really reluctant to take her to another store store, but she was well overdue for a groom and they have pretty open availability - I scheduled online. They did such a wonderful job!! The groomers are all friendly and none of the dogs showed signs of stress. They gave Penelope the cutest hair cut and did everything I asked. It's been rainy and for 48 hours she did not want to walk outside in the rain, I had to carry her to a patch of grass to go potty. . She looked at me like "hello I just got my hair done you think I'm walking through those puddles?". Thank you Petsmart! I believe Charleen did Penelope's groom, but everyone seems awesome there. This is a week later and she still looks fabulous. On a report card they give you coupons for your next visit, did I mention they are close to $20 less than Petco? Remember to tip your groomers! take your pet to literally any other vet - I booked an appointment a month and a half out because it was the earliest i could get in. finally get to the pet smart in hazel dell and go to check in for my appointment, to which the lady behind the desk rudely told me there was never an appointment booked for my pet. I showed her the appointment confirmation and she said "sorry, the vet is leaving in 10 minutes but I can reschedule you 3 months away". ***BEWARE*** We normally groom our dog but decided hey let's give him a doggie pedicure day so we took this fun loving pup here to get groomed. He was all happy getting out of the car of course why no it's a big building we're a lot of dogs go and pee on things. We walk into the groomer and was greeted nicely, asked what kind of service we wanted and then shortly after the lady bent down and tried to introduce herself to my dog. Now let me just say, I don't care how long you have been doing this anybody knows you use caution when approaching. So we get him all set up and she says will call you in a couple of hours. so before leaving we explained what areas he is sensitive too and how we wanted him cut. Now mind you the pictures will show one side of his face is shorter than the other so you can only imagine what the rest of him looks like. We left and came back two hours later and he sure was happy to see us except one thing. His face was cut wrong and one side was longer than the other. His coat was choppy and so were his feet. We went to pay and thought our $45 grooming was going to remain but instead they charged us $65 for the cut. The cut that looked like crap!! I got my dog home and he started acting scared and funny very submissive like someone tried to hit him or something. He also had a blood smell to him but I couldn't find anything "yet". We also found sores on him that were not there when we dropped him off. 24 hrs later he is super cuddly and wants to be just held and close to mama or daddy doesn't wanna be alone and seems super depressed. My boyfriend tried to play with him and he went to rub his back and he snapped at him. Mind you my dog has NEVER EVER BIT us and never shown signs of aggression. I believe what ever happened behind those closed grooming doors left a very clear amount of trauma on my dog. He is so different now and we have to take extra care to nurse him back to normal. To all you people out there DONT GO HERE FOR GROOMING!!!!! We won't be back and I hope someone investigates! read more

Pet Smart isn't so smart. Called to schedule a grooming for a dog we just rescued from Mexico. Told them the paperwork and proof of Rabies was in Spanish. What they didn't tell me was that proof of Rabies had to be in English. Please train your staff so as not to deny care to pets and lose customers and their loyalty. read more

Petsmart price match policy is a load of dog poop! They'll always find some twat reason why they can't match......even their own company Chewys. "Chewy's sells it by the case, we sell it individually.".....as I put a wrapped case on the counter for check out. "We won't price match Walmart."..... on identical item. If they actually gave a rat's fart about supporting rescue groups who keep them in business we might not need to price match. But their Charity is not very charitable. "If you have 10,000 adoptions we'll give you $1,000 dollars." (If we have 10,000 adoptions we'll be needing 4 of their unused registers!) Maybe the SPCA nation wide can meet Petsmart grant requirements, but no local group can. I don't donate at the register because their charity is a load of dog poop also! read more

Took my dog in today to get groomed, mind I had an appointment. Once I arrived they refused to groom her because she was shaking "nervous" from the car ride. I tried to explain but the gal wouldn't listen. My dog is old and the older she gotten the less she like car rides. The professionalism and respect shown was sub par and down right uncalled for. Talking to me and treating me like I abused my dog. My saint is a family pet and is treated with the up most care. This is not a petsmart I will return to and might possibly start thinking about taking all my pet needs else where. I highly do not suggest going to this store. Best grooming jobs are done here! Puppy training classes were great too! All 4 of my dogs can now wait at the top of the stairs while I open the door and great guest. Pet training instructor was awesome. Had a really great experience in puppy class. The instructor was really helpful in not just what he was teaching in the class but with issues at home and out side the basic puppy behaviors that was being thought. Very patient with everyone. I could not get an appointment with my regular groomer and my dog was looking pretty scruffy, so I decided to give Petsmart's grooming services a try. Kylee was very personable and professional. She checked my dog's fur and body, asked questions and made suggestions. My dog was so nervous she pooped! But not a big deal. Kylee handled it quickly and said, "aww, I scared the poop out of her". When I picked her up, Kylee listed what she did and said she enjoyed grooming my dog. Just so friendly! My dog looked great and seemed happy and calm. What I like about Petsmart is that I can drop my dog off after work at 3pm and it took about 2 1/2 hours ( they give a 3-4 hour estimate). With my regular groomer I have to drop off at 9am which is hard to do except for the weekend. So I will definitely go back and ask for Kylee. read more

Hands down the best chain pet store in the area. I had been going to different pet store for years but after one visit to this location we switched! We've gotten two guinea pigs and many cat, dog and guinea pig things. They employees are sooo great with the animals (unlike the other store I use to go to) and nice to customers. So far, I've been able to find everything I need and return/exchanges have been smooth. I haven't been to their vet or grooming area but plan to take our g-pigs in for nail trims very soon! read more

I don't have much experience with going to pet supply stores. In this case, I was watching my parents' dog and looking for stuff for him to chomp for July 4th, and he came along with me. Big store. Clean, nicely laid out, easy to navigate even with a leashed 3-year-old German Shepherd. Friendly staff who loved on the dog. Naturally he loved the attention. I had a good experience here. Terrible! DO NOT GO HERE! We got the wellness plan for our two kittens. On two occasions they kept my kittens for over 5 hours and finally I had to call in to tell them I was coming to get them and they said they would quickly see them so they'd be ready when I arrived. Then both my kittens had to be out down due to having feline leukemia. They called me to say one kitten had it. Asked if I wanted to get the other one tested. I said yes and two hours later I had to call them to find out what the report was. They told me it was positive and they had the cat on the operating table ready to be spayed. Like what!!! Check in with me when you get a positive result on something so deadly first. And now I can either continue to make my $80 a month payments for the total of 12 months (kitten wellness plan) to them or pay $800 to cover the fees that i accrued over taking the cats to the vet less then 4X each. They WAYYYY overcharge if you're not in the wellness plan and have no compassion for people who have to put their pets down. They also cancelled on us multiple times and are never there to answer the phone. read more

We take our dog here for nail trim/grind. The groomers are usually accommodating to fit your dog in, even as a walk in... sometimes they are booked solid, n you may have to come back. They take care to do a good job on this. Have not used them for salon grooming as we do it ourselves. read more

If you got a pitbull don't come here, unfriendly workers who seem to be scared and talk under their breath about your breed of dog. Their sell price is always wrong and today it got to me, I would have let it go but once you make me feel uncomfortable about my dog then I'll say something, I would have noticed the price was wrong if I didn't feel so uncomfortable with the cashier glaring and statementing comments under her breath about my dog so I had to go back in to get my money back, They then tell me to be more relaxed when my dog has to stay out side because your cashier is scared? ! We use to come here all the time but not anymore. It shouldn't take 3 people to look at a price for fish food. And not one person says sorry for how I got treated. I get it a pitbull is scary blah blah blah but if that's how you feel don't work here and if your a customer coming here and see a pitbull just walk away don't say some crap and stop tighten your dogs leash. Because it could actually be friends with a pitbull, you just suck as a dog owner. read more
