Went into the store simply for crickets... I bought my daughter a leopard gecko about two weeks ago. We are still learning about this lizard. My husband went to find an employee to help us with getting some crickets. As soon as the lady "IL" on her name tag walks up, she immediately told me I should have scanned a QR code if I wanted help. Not realizing there even was a QR code to scan, I asked how it worked. She responded "like any other QR code!". So whatever, I needed crickets. She asked how many and I told her we have one leopard gecko and I wasn't sure. She then replies that she doesn't have any lizards so how would she know? (I assumed that since I was at a pet store the employees would know about pets, and this store sells leopard geckos...) I asked for 20, then remembered the previous lady had dusted them with some calcium, so I asked about that. She was very short just telling me they don't do that. I left this store feeling like I had done something wrong for simply asking questions. I was treated like crap the entire time. I will go to Petco down the road from now on. Clearly PetSmart isn't interested in helping their customers, and has no knowledge on the pets they sell. read more

Very friendly and good service. Today I came in here to exchange some cat bites I had bought. They were expensive and my cat wouldn't eat them. They were probiotics. She doesn't need stitches so they take her back and say they are gonna finish the cut. They then shaved my dog bald! She's an anxious dog but does well with groomers and now she's a wreck. read more

A employee who looked like a male but sounded like a women walked back to the fish department and said out loud " I'm not selling any fish today"! This is the 2nd time we have taken our Golden here. We our of town visiting family and both times now we have had the worst hair cuts. So uneven and chopped in areas with longer areas. I said I'd be happy to reschedule, but was told if I could be there by 1pm, they'd still groom him. I hustled out the door with my resistant dog, arrived before 1 but by the time I could speak with someone it was 1:01pm. She turned me away because I was there after 1pm. They could've accepted my offer to reschedule on the phone, saved me the hair raising drive and the humiliating perp walk back out. read more

PetSmart is a hit or miss sort of store, it's a chain, a big-box chain, so each store pretty much looks like the next one. They also seem to follow a pattern of hiring, as most of the stores I've been to, seem to have a majority of younger employees, maybe not so up on all the details involved in owning/caring for a pet. Think first-time employees. Then there's usually one or two employees who know their stuff, but never enough for a store the size of PetSmart. PetSmart is the Costco for pets with wide aisles and plenty of bulk bags of whatever you need. If you're looking for healthy pet alternatives in snacks and chow, you might want to look elsewhere (like maybe Costco actually), their selection of healthy fare is rather slim. And now that I think about that Costco comparison, that's not right really because PetSmart's prices aren't that good, altho they do have sales. I guess the main thing they have in common is a warehouse-like atmosphere inside. This specific branch is about the middle of the road, not as bad as the PetSmart where the cashier didn't know what "crickets" were or if they sold them (they do), but not as good as the one where the employee helped me get a pet gift for a sick friend (my friend and her pet loved it). I've been to this location a few times now and never had a horrible experience, yet never been wowed. IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS, I WOULD!! I've been taking my dog to Yuko for a few years now, and she's AMAZING!!! About a month ago, when I went to pick up my dog, they charged me $15 more than when I made the appointment. PLUS $5 FOR BEING A FRIDAY When I asked why, another groomer came from the back of the salon, at me, yelling they had to do extra brushing, which she's never needed!! SHE'S SHORT HAIRED!! She couldn't really explain why and then said they don't even have a price of $44, basically calling me a liar. That groomer was loud and aggressive!! The other customer just shook her head and stared at the girl. Our next appointment is coming up and I just got a call from "THE TEAM LEADER, JELSY.....JUST LIKE CHELSEA BUT WITH A J" saying obviously they can't make me happy and her groomer didn't want to do my dog anymore. I tried to explain what had happened and if she could explain to Yuko it was nothing SHE did, we could just move on. But she refused and kept saying ",,,,,we can't make YOU happy!!" to which I finally said, ",,,,,, NOOOOO it's actually very easy to make me happy. Don't up charge me for services you didn't do withouteven notifying me , basically call me liar then take NO responsibility for it!!!" **** FYI PER JELSY, " PETSMART TEMPORARILY LOWERED THEIR PRICES TO GET PEOPLE BACK IN AND TO BE HONEST, IT PISSED OFF THE GROOMERS. I don't shop at pet smart very often, but I do use their vet so I decided to try their grooming services. I have a medium haired dog, and the hair on her butt is very kind. I asked them to shave her booty and just trim the rest and to leave her tail be. They didn't do anything I asked and shaved her tail hair. The store itself was most helpful in completing an on line order with prescription food. I would give the staff there a solid 5 stars. The biggest nightmare though was trying to get my order approved thru the Petsmart app for drive up and have it brought out to you service. I had already done one order and provided my pets prescription the first order and once again had to wait to be approved on the second order today. The third party approval process is horrendous as is the customer service line. I was told it could take three or more days for approval and 15 minutes or more to hold on line to talk to someone in the prescription department. The endless amount of time going back and forth with the customer service rep and eventually a manager was so bad I deleted my app after I eventually got my order and a multitude of apologies from the brick and mortar store manager. read more

Took our 8 month puppy in for grooming. I called and talked to the groomer assigned to our dog before the appt. I was very specific about what I wanted done. Nail trim, shampoo and trim hair close to eyes. I was very clear that I did not want any other hair trimmed. It was obvious when we picked up our dog that he was trimmed in various places that I did not want done. I was to upset so I was going to give it a few days before addressing it. I received a courtesy call from Grooming, so I let the employee know that we were very disappointed and we would not be returning. She apologized and said the grooming manager would be in contact with me. The grooming manager never contacted me. Poor service from the groomer all the way up to management. Definitely will not return and will not recommend to anyone. read more

Grooming is the worst. Lhasa apso pups' first groom. I could've done a better job myself. I am so disappointed. Thankfully it grows back. One pup had been neutered and had an I.V. They didn't even try to blend his fur in. As for the rest of his fur--see the pix for yourself. The brown female had a beautiful coat. Only needed paws and face and now her coat looks like she got ran over by a lawnmower. I waited in store for them because of the horror stories I had read about pets dying at Petsmart groomers in other states and wound up waiting 6 hours. The person I appointed with chose to give my 1230 appointment to the OTHER groomer who came on at 130, who was the one who was supposed to groom the OTHER pup. So that's why the wait was so long. In that 6 hours, I saw how rough one of the other groomers was with the dogs she groomed- making one older Scottish terrier cry and cry with how rough she combed his tail and whiskers. And her overall handling of him-- just very rough. And then her telling him " you need to learn to have your hair combed". If that dogs owner had been standing there, I GUARANTEE she would not have treated him that way It was a horrible EXPENSIVE experience. I should have waited until the local groomer in Washougal had availability. My mistake was thinking PetSmart groomers were trained in 200 different breeds (I read that somewhere). Was considering switching all my dogs to PetSmart I will stay with PetSpaNW in Washougal. At least I know they are gentle, the dog is ready on time, and they do a decent job So very disappointed. At least hair grows back I wish money grew back. At $70 each I have decided I am just going to watch some YOuTube videos and run a lawnmower over them myself for free This is the price of convenience. Never again. I love this Petsmart location. The staff is excellent, and most importantly, the lines are never long. I usually come here for cat litter and cat food, which means I'm in and out pretty quickly. I don't think I've ever been in a line longer than 1 person, which makes me -- as a somewhat impatient person -- pretty darn happy! The place is really clean and the Banfield pet hospital is great. I don't usually go there, but it is open on Saturday and Sunday -- with great hours! This could really save people a ton of money compared to going to an emergency vet, since they do walk-ins. read more

I've been going to this PetSmart with the babes, my little sweet shih tzus. The eldest has a few teeth since he is 11. During his grooming, I was called half way...that he was 'biting' the groomer. My dogs have sweet temperaments and are super loving. It shocked me, so I drove back quickly. She said there was something wrong with his feet. So I took him to the vet the next day, and my vet told me he is absolutely fine- did his anal glands and all...and nothing was wrong!! Now I'm thinking, you just banned my dog, who is toothless, 11 year old veteran of PetSmart grooming because obviously your groomer was overwhelmed with too many puppies that day- but you got to blame my poor dog. DO NOT BUY YOUR REPTILES HERE !!!!! I went into today for a CHE (ceramic heat emitter) and took a look into the animals cages they have here. The ball pythons were the most concerning, all of them looked sick, one specifically was stuck in shed, their humidity gauges were reading under 70 percent and the animal had eyecaps retained from shed. Also, people that work here are clearly inept at caring for the animals, none of the reptile associates knew what they were talking about and these animals are suffering due to these idiots not understanding basic husbandry. Learn how to take care of your animals, I was almost tempted to apply just so I could fix the husbandry and quit. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves utterly ashamed, absolutely disappointed and disgusted with the husbandry here. Also, don't even bother writing a response, I don't have time to hear how "they are kept in those cages temporarily" or "we don't have time to check every animal" I'd give you negative stars if I could. read more

It seems so strange to review a pet store. Especially a chain pet store. I am, however, going to be frequenting this location because it's so close to my house. Not to mention I have a now 9 week old beagle who is just too cute and is in need of many toys and loads of food. The first time I went in here it was a little overwhelming trying to find just about any sort of specific food brand or treats because they have so much on their shelves. There was a very friendly gal roaming the aisles and led me to the right place. When I went to buy the enormous bag of Science Diet puppy food I was given a Petsmart card to get a discount. Yes, I'm that girl that has it on her keychain now. The second time I went in to get the beagle's nails clipped. Since I got to take her in, everyone was oohing and ahhing over her so it took me a minute to get to the back but was again, directed to the right spot. When I got back there, they only had two dogs being groomed and two gals waiting for something to do. Both of which were very friendly. The gal that ended up clipping the beagle's nails was very quick and efficient. Not to mention, since it was my first time into the grooming area, the clipping was done for free! I have a love-hate feeling for this place. I wanted to like it and gave them a chance, but of course they lived up to their low expectations. Banfield is actually pretty good. That saved a little stray cats life that now lives happily and healthy with us. However, their fish department sucks. I suggest you do not buy fish here, they are sickly and (most) of the staff doesn't care. For example, when I was picking out a particular fish the employee replied "they all look the same when they grow up." Well I understand that, but I don't want the other five sick looking ones... I also bought a few schooling fish, some of which turned out to be deformed. They are living happily in my tank, but it is just more proof that they source their fish from breeders that are just offloading stock and don't care about the fish. I just pulled up my past receipts the most I EVER paid was $4 and that was for 20-25! Wow, I'm dumbfounded at the price increase on CRICKETS! Also these crickets were not even large, they were medium to small. So not only do you pay a lot more, your also getting way less. I had their wellness program for my 2 1/2 year old dog. I was super nervous from all the horror stories I have heard about Banfield. Those people are crazy! I don't know about other locations, but this one has some amazing vets! I see them cleaning everything 24/7. This is the only place that has actual veterinarian give the animals their vaccinations. It is the 1st time I have never felt rushed & just not a number. The vets & vet techs are very knowledgeable & answering all your questions. Every visit the veterinarians have came out & talked to me & examined my baby girl. Each time I have gotten a different vet. Talking to them all they all have 12-25 years as a veterinarian. My dog is a scared mess at any place that handles animals. All the staff here is the nicest ever! They try to comfort my dog as best as they can. So far my dog has dashed for the door to escape (everyone helped on catching her) So embarrassing, she has pooped in the middle of the floor from nerves (I tried to clean it up, but the staff came & insisted they cleaned it) The sales staff is always there if you have any questions, they are almost annoying how helpful they are. This is one place I definitely trust to handle my baby girl. Oh, and if you're getting your dog's nailed trimmed let Banfield do it. They file the nails so it's all smooth. Unlike the grooming section, they just clipped it & her nails snagged on everything. read more

I've been with Banfield for the past couple years and have had good experiences all around. Started at the Hazel Dell location and then moved to East Vancouver one since I moved. I got recommended by a friend who actually works at Banfield to see Dr. Mago-Tran at East Vancouver and she is wonderful. Very caring and informative and I'm so glad we found her. The only comment I can give would be this location seems a bit harder to get thru to on the phones but other than that, no complaints. read more

I've even had people at the dog park ask where I get him groomed because he always comes out so soft. It makes me sad when I see bad reviews just because the salon is a corporate salon. Don't take your dog to get groomed here. I did, and ever since she's had a nasty ear infection that still hasn't gone away. Another complaint I have about this place was how the fish tanks are small, and don't have any lids. This can work with a lot of fish but some jump. The last time I came here we actually saw a cichlid jump and flip about on the floor. What's the point? This does not benefit the store as they can lose stock to this, and it certainly does not benefit the fish. read more
