This is the 2nd time we have taken our Golden here. We our of town visiting family and both times now we have had the worst hair cuts. So uneven and chopped in areas with longer areas. We pay extra to have straight through service every time. But they seem to rush the cut job. Disappointed $145 gets you this. Wont be going back!

it looks like a big box

PetSmart is a hit or miss sort of store, it's a chain, a big-box chain, so each store pretty much looks like the next one. They also seem to follow a pattern of hiring, as most of the stores I've been to, seem to have a majority of younger employees, maybe not so up on all the details involved in owning/caring for a pet. Think first-time employees. Then there's usually one or two employees who know their stuff, but never enough for a store the size of PetSmart. PetSmart is the Costco for pets with wide aisles and plenty of bulk bags of whatever you need. If you're looking for healthy pet alternatives in snacks and chow, you might want to look elsewhere (like maybe Costco actually), their selection of healthy fare is rather slim. And now that I think about that Costco comparison, that's not right really because PetSmart's prices aren't that good, altho they do have sales. I guess the main thing they have in common is a warehouse-like atmosphere inside. This specific branch is about the middle of the road, not as bad as the PetSmart where the cashier didn't know what "crickets" were or if they sold them (they do), but not as good as the one where the employee helped me get a pet gift for a sick friend (my friend and her pet loved it). I've been to this location a few times now and never had a horrible experience, yet never been wowed. Like all PetSmarts, you can bring your pet when you shop, don't worry the floors are tile.

Her first groom. Look how choppy the cut is on her flank and legs

Grooming is the worst. Lhasa apso pups' first groom. I could've done a better job myself. I am so disappointed. Thankfully it grows back. One pup had been neutered and had an I.V. They didn't even try to blend his fur in. As for the rest of his fur--see the pix for yourself. The brown female had a beautiful coat. Only needed paws and face and now her coat looks like she got ran over by a lawnmower. I waited in store for them because of the horror stories I had read about pets dying at Petsmart groomers in other states and wound up waiting 6 hours. The person I appointed with chose to give my 1230 appointment to the OTHER groomer who came on at 130, who was the one who was supposed to groom the OTHER pup. So that's why the wait was so long. In that 6 hours, I saw how rough one of the other groomers was with the dogs she groomed- making one older Scottish terrier cry and cry with how rough she combed his tail and whiskers. And her overall handling of him-- just very rough. And then her telling him " you need to learn to have your hair combed". If that dogs owner had been standing there, I GUARANTEE she would not have treated him that way It was a horrible EXPENSIVE experience. I should have waited until the local groomer in Washougal had availability. My mistake was thinking PetSmart groomers were trained in 200 different breeds (I read that somewhere). Was considering switching all my dogs to PetSmart I will stay with PetSpaNW in Washougal. At least I know they are gentle, the dog is ready on time, and they do a decent job So very disappointed. At least hair grows back I wish money grew back. At $70 each I have decided I am just going to watch some YOuTube videos and run a lawnmower over them myself for free This is the price of convenience. Never again. Wish I could get my money back.

I feel like this is the smellier of the 2 PetSmart stores I visit in Vancouver. They have great sales and great customer service, though!

All the current active staff working at this specific location have demonstrated & proven how extremely capable & exhaustively knowledgeable as trainers, dog behavior specialists, groomers, etc. They have exceedingly created a trustworthy controlled environment setting that makes me reassuringly safe to entrust the safety & wellbeing of my 4-legged son. They have gone above & beyond for my puppy & I could not praise/thank them enough for their time, energy & effort to nurture my puppy's confidence & needs. Including assessing & addressing his trauma triggers being bullied as the "runt" of his litter, that occurred prior to his rescue. I am thoroughly enthralled with their most adorable & transparently informative daily report cards that are released after their daycare reservation. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to cultivate & nurture their doggo-puppers development & overall wellbeing (with a heaping side of well deserved spoiled treatment)! Will definitely be a continuing member, as long as they will have Beemo & I, after we officially move to the PNW.

I am a disabled combat veteran, but do not qualify for a 'service animal' from non-profits because I do not have the 'correct' diagnosis, even though I suffer from the same exact symptoms as those with PTSD. My wife's mother, who lives in Europe, recently had a stroke and my wife has been by her side since early August. If I hope to see my wife at all over the next several years, because of her and my commitment to ensure that her mother gets the care and attention she deserves, we needed to be much closer than the Pacific NW, hence our uprooting. In order to have Kemper fly with me in the cabin on a grueling 10-hour trans-Atlantic flight, he needed some several skills which he was lacking when we adopted him from the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society after six years of being abandoned and abused, for no reason, by one owner after another. Even with his unjust and unconscionable treatment early in life, he is one of the sweetest and dogs I have ever known. Julie and Kemper quickly developed a strong bond and she was willing to work with me one-on-one, tailoring a training plan for both of us to get us where we need to be with just two months before boarding the plane. Having a Master's in Psychology, I am an expert in operant and classical conditioning, but lacked the understanding of how dogs think, so Julie was training both of us along the way. Kemper picked-up on things quickly and me, not so much, but we were compelled to get the job done and succeed in our mission, no room for error. Paws Down is not exactly cheap when it comes to private training, but Julie did not charge for travel time to our home and routinely stayed after the allotted one-hour appointment times. Yesterday, less than two months after starting with Julie, Kemper passed his AKC Canine Good Citizen test and his certificate is on the way, arriving well before we need it for travel to our new home. Thank you Paws Down and Julie for helping me ensure that my support animal and I make it safely to Europe, reuniting our family after moths apart.
