I had a run of the mill transaction here. My experience was not one that would make me go out of my way to shop here, but it was pleasant enough that I will be back to shop here for my pet needs. I did feel bad for the cashier though because it was cold when I shopped there (low 30s with wind) and the poor cashier has to stand where constant cold air was blowing in. We had a cold snap last month where temps were single digits, windchill below zero. I can't imagine standing at the cash register with that cold of air constantly blowing in. Temperature control is a little lacking inside the store, at least at checkout. Updated to four stars for todays transaction. We've been going to PetSmart for our pet needs for years. The store has a large selection of products for dogs, cats, fish and small animals. Staff is friendly. We take our dogs to the grooming salon and have had positive experiences. We tend to stick with the same groomers each time and appreciate that we can take both pups at once. If I could give this Petsmart a BIG ZERO I would!!! Scheduled my Alaskan Malamute for a groom with FURminator appointmentat the 533 S Tracy Street store on Saturday, 6/2. Holly greeted me and went thru the check-in process and all was good at first and opted for the outline trim instead of a full cut. A few minutes later changed my mind and called the store and decided for the full cut. Well, low and behold about a 1/2 hour later got a call from the store claiming my dog was infested with fleas and they would not charge me for the visit (was this supposed to make me feel better)!!! Are you freakin' kidding me! Funny thing is, my dog was at the vet on 5/30 for vaccines and full check up and got a very clean bill of health from the Vet!! I know Malamutes are not an easy breed to groom but holy smokes be honest and in a polite way could've said no one feels comfortable grooming your dog because of size or don't have the experience, but is was due to blatant laziness etc etc BUT PLEASE do not insult my intelligence and claim my dog is infested with fleas. The apparent fleas embedded in my dog was dirt particles (normal bought him home and gave him a bath and all gone!!! I drove 70 miles round trip to go to this store because of its reviews just to be refused service by using lies that my dog was infested with fleas!!! The service is good but keep an eye on the nail clipping / filing service add on. My dogs' nails never get clipped short enough and the filing process isn't great - not worth the extra money. The hair cut service is fantastic. They did a terrific job with my long-haired dog. BUT - Be aware if you book the first appt of the day, you will be waiting. Grooming opens at the same time as the first appt. The clerks run around logging into the computers, sorting papers, putting on their frock, etc. It took 15 min for the clerk to be ready to check me in. Her shift should have started 15 min BEFORE the first appt. This is a sign of poor management, not a reflection on the clerk, herself. The grooming section should be ready when the first appt arrives rather than frantically trying to get started while making the customers wait. read more

Most employees don't know what they are talking about but yet they ask you all kinds of questions about what size of tank you have and even what kind of fish you have to decide if they will let you get a fish. (I have 2 55gallons and I only keep mollies, platies, and guppies) They wanted to tell me I could not add 2 more mollies when I have less then 10 in one of the tank. Tonight was the worst the same lady that asks half a million questions about my tanks and tells me I dont know what I am doing (I have been caring for fish on and off for well over 10 years) did not want to let me price match 2 items to their website because the website had them for 50% off. She then starting being rude telling me that they dont match to chewy. I told her I know and that I dont buy from there. Once I showed her the price difference she wanted to throw a fit telling me the bottle is 3.4oz and the website is 3.38. The photo was also showing 3.4oz. Save yourself a headache and go to another petsmart there are 2 others in town. read more

Overall a great experience. Knowledgeable and friendly staff. My one complaint, though, is that so often the items aren't placed with the correct price tags, so how much you're paying at checkout can be a gamble. If the staff can be more diligent about keeping the inventory reorganized after people pick through it, it would certainly save people the hassle of spending $35 at checkout when they were anticipating spending $20. read more

Hey this place rocks. The place is just packed with aisle after aisle of simply delicious lookin foods to die for. My mouth started watering as soon as we entered. I had a hard time restraining myself from leapin on those big ole bags of chow and rippin em apart to get to those tasty morsels. ( Actually I had some help from my friend who pulled on my collar and leash, and then held me down.) ( I mean what are friends for??) Anyway we did get to try some gourmet treats...yummmo....made my tail wag. The staff was friendly and informative. But, the other real star besides the food was all the fine lookin customers that come in. There are some real hotties hangin out here. I had more fun sniffin an scratchin...goin where my nose has never been before. OOH lala...I wanna go back now. I guess the one down side ....would be that they also sell clothes. Good place to shop. I have a parrot who I purchase food at this store for her. Prices are reasonable and staff is friendly. Reason for 4 stars and not 5 is the fact of how they care for there birds in store. They do not care for them badly, as much as they could be more attentive and aware of each birds activities and toys in there cages. There prices on there birds are in my opinion a bit high as well. Overall a good place to shop for your pets needs and care. read more

Horrible Day at Pet Smart: I was at the Pet Smart on Tracy by the Towne West Mall today and only planned on buying a few gold groummi (alas almost out again but still had one) but saw that they had a good deal on parrots and to boot they were both decent sized and not ugly for once so i decided to buy one ( was gonna wanting to buy a few of the baby jacks on special to grow alongside my baby firemouths i picked up to but) and kept getting the 3rd degree about my tanks at which point the same clerk who always gives me shit refused to sell me the fish and wanted to get approval to sell it to me at which point i walked away and was about to leave but decided to stock up on what i needed and asked to talk to a manager at checkout to find that the other two associates passed the decision on up the line and my purchase was already approved. I got the fish at this point (the parrot and gourmmi but didnt chance the jacks) just out of spite. and convinced the superviser that even though i dont follow some of the norms and showed pics of my tanks that i had no intention of killing the fish and with the money i spend i have experience and care for my tanks. i was also told that the clerk is really defensive about who she sells fish to. Since when have there ever been fish activists and when did pet smart start leading the charge. since when has any chain pet store ever cared about aquarium fish they have sold. should it matter if i plan to put them in my tank, fight them for sport, flush them down the toilet, or eat them? (not that i would or would ever plan to do any of those things). if so true to this policy why sell crickets or feeders knowing they r going to die when they leave the store. i may have no choice but to buy my filter media there but as for fish if i ever decide to again i may have to tattoo that i know what im doing on my forehead. read more

After our regular groomer moved out of town, we decided to try this particular PetSmart based on a recommendation. Unfortunately had to change groomers here three different times and were finally matched with the manager. We found that after just a couple of sessions, our toy poodle had to be treated for impacted anal glands and a severe deep ear infection. We have always been specific with the groomers about expressing our dogs' anal glands and being careful with their ears - we schedule appointments every six weeks instead of the usual eight weeks due to their sensitivity. Naturally, after the vet visit, we felt a visit to the groomer was necessary to clarify the problem. Well, the grooming manager was not there so we spoke with the store manager who was very conciliatory until we mentioned the cost of the vet visit. We left with assurances that the grooming manager would call us the next day when she came in. We are sure you can guess what happened next - we have NOT heard from anyone. Although I do not feel the groomer intended to hurt our dog, we do believe that the store is so busy and the groomers are constantly interrupted to help with customers, phone, etc., that they lose track of where they are in the process of grooming each dog. This does not seem like a problem that they will be in any hurry to correct, especially since they are trying to ignore us. We are not finished, though - plan to go higher up for answers. We believe that it is only fair that they pay at least half of the vet bill - just need to find out what they think, huh. read more
