So I came here first thing this morning and surprisingly, I was the only customer in the store. That being said, I was helped immediately. They have so many different types of paints here, I really wasn't sure about which type to get. We needed something good that would be able to be cleaned easily, so the nice employee suggested the Duration paint with a matte type of finish. He said it was the second best paint that they offer behind Emerald. I purchased two gallons with two completely different colors, which would be more than enough paint for the two rooms. Now will come the fun part as we try to get paint on the walls, and not over everything else!

I still am not thrilled with my earlier experience where DC Sherwin Williams were out of paint…read moresamples, but this location helped me dispose of paint easily which I really appreciated. DC has some PaintCare program where local paint supply companies will accept your paint to dispose of instead of you having to go to Fort Totten trash site on Thursdays or Saturdays - and all Sherwin Williams locations seem to participate. Someone at another location said they're only supposed to accept 5 gallons of paint - although I didn't see that anywhere on the PaintCare site - but this location rolled out a cart to my car and helped me dispose of about 10 old cans of paint!

Despite being a smaller store, they were well stocked and had a great selection of the essentials and then some. They do a number of community events and help promote things in the community as well. With just a brief flash of my lightbulb, a staff member at the counter pointed me to the wall of lightbulbs to replace it in the next room. Even as I was trying to figure out what to get, I could hear her helping the next customer with his own home item question. Looking around the store, there is probably something you will need in there not now, but maybe in the future. When the time comes, a friendly staff member will likely be there to help you navigate the shelves and find it. We have come here on other occasions for paint and screws. True Value is conveniently located in a street with many well loved businesses in Dupont Circle. Maybe get dinner with a side of hardware store? There is a bus stop a couple blocks down and it's a 10 minute walk from the circle.

As for the paint quality in my opinion it out performs most of Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore products at a much better price. On commercial projects we use McCormick paints. There EState House Exterior paint is a great product to work with at a much lower price. There interior Revo paints Are Zero VOC and Greenwise certified paint at a fantastic price. If I had to compare Revo to Promar 200 I will say that the Revo paint is more comparable to the interior Sherwin-Williams Super paint. So my review is based on the quality of paint.

"Slim" here made a working copy which then could be copied again, some of which worked. I don't know why this key was so meddlesome but the employees here took on a difficult task and helped me out until it was complete. Customer service is what makes a hardware store, so I can confidently say, having been to about a dozen of them over the last 13 years, this is the best in the area.
