He did a flawless, meticulous job. The balance across the strings is perfect. He also checked over the whole guitar, adjusting the tuners, etc. Alex is very knowledgable with many years of experience working on guitars, a perfectionist who takes pride in his work. He completed my work very quickly, and I'm very happy this first time. He's a valuable resource if you own a bunch of guitars. The shop is a conveniently located right on the Boulevard in Kenilworth, just a few blocks from GSP exit 138. There's parking right in front of the shop. It's also right down the street from two of my favorite ethnic delis/groceries, Massimo (Italian) and the Greek Store.

They were intonated perfectly and without and fret buzz. Price was good--better than what a setup would have cost at Sweetwater, for example, and I liked the fact he's local and can do the setup once I receive the guitar since the shipment process itself can alter how a guitar is set up. Also, as a side note, he also makes candles on the side and will give you a sample.

There was no signs stating the store was closed. In fact, the lights were on and people were playing some instruments. I must say though, the woman who asked us to leave was very kind and not rude in anyway. But, it would have been helpful to put a sign stating the store was closed or even write the hours on the door. At the least, they could lock the doors, because from the outside it looked open.

I brought my 6-string electric guitar to this store in order to replace a nut and fix an underlying…read moreissue with the corresponding nut slot. I supplied a top-grade new TusQ nut for this operation. The instrument remained held at the store for more than a week presumably "being repaired". Eventually, after calling the store, I was told to pick up the guitar in the early evening. I made it to the store by 7PM or so, but my guitar was STILL NOT READY. The staff kept me at the store for over TWO HOURS longer, but they finally brought out the instrument with the new nut and a fresh set of strings. Could've been worse, right? Well, it was worse after all. A little while later, the new nut slid over along its slot. It turned out that the underlying issue (damaged slot bottom under the nut) was never ever repaired! Basically, they charge me a full repair fee for a tiny drop of glue and a set of strings. So, I had to purchase some repair materials and then I spent at least two days fixing those presumably previously fixed issues. A glue curing process took some time as well. So, adding certain staff members' condescending attitude towards returning customers, plus such poor treatment of a repair work request made me unwilling to do any more business with that establishment.

I have a 14 yr old daughter who's dream is to be on broadway. She loves singing but her passion is much bigger than her voice. I believe passion is something that should be nurtured so I spent thousands of dollars on voice lessons over the past 3 years. Emily worked hard. After about a year and a half of lessons, though, with a different New York based vocal school, she seemed to plateau. She still practiced all the time and loved it but eventually started to get frustrated. Finally she was passed over for any main singing roles in her school play, and it was the last straw for her. She came home and said she was giving up singing. And she was serious. This broke my heart. Not because I want her to be a famous singer, but because I know how much she really does love singing and her spirit was broken. Shortly thereafter I was speaking to a friend at work about our kids and he recommended I have Emily take a trial lesson with his daughters teacher, Irina Fields. I made the call and I am so happy I did! First of all Irina comes with "cred". She is cool and hip and pretty as well as being an accomplished artist. Emily loved her instantly. She has the patience of a saint and has the same passion for singing that I see in Emily. While studying with Irina, My daughter has become very knowledgeable about the intricacies of this technique called "Bel canto". She does drills every day and not just singing drills. I see her laying on the floor practicing breathing and she describes in detail the science behind singing with this bel canto technique. She is full of passion again and it's awesome. It's been about 9 months now since Emily started lessons with Irina and the results have been nothing short of amazing.
