[Update] Nearing two weeks after our move and corporate, the…read morelocal division, and their claims department have all gone radio silent. We submitted a list of the damages and they immediately dropped off communication. Requests for confirmation of receipt have gone unanswered. This is surreal. Wonderfully now if all the rave reviews are forged. [Original post] Had these folks pack and move us, and the list of broken items and damaged property is continuing to grow as we unpack. Just found the toilet brush and scrubber thrown into the box with our toothbrushes and toiletries and decided it was time to start the review. I'll continue to update it as we find more wreckage. They quoted 6500 for the job, then charged us 9000. Didn't catch when Rob said the price wasn't fixed, though he must have mentioned in some way. Don't trust a lowest bid. It won't make any difference at the end of the job when they hand you the bill. Here's a list of the broken items to date: * Two glass lamp shades * Both bar cart glass surfaces * My beloved desk * Expensive wood coffee table * Child's lampshade * Queen-size bed headboard * Six or so plants stacked on top of one another in a box * Decorative vase * Night stand drawer handle * Shelf in cedar chest * Missing parts from most of the baby gates * Owl bracelet * Metal baseball bat (how!?) * Massive gouges in newly painted walls * Mud tracked through departure house, midpoint house and new house carpets (despite my begging) Theoretically their insurance should cover the things that can be replaced. Will report back on how successful this is. For the one-of-a-kind items, though, huge regret for trusting this amateur hour circus of failure. Other highlights include: * Inexplicably leaving a tons of stuff at the departure house. E.g. Found a very large box of coats at the old place pushed into a closet and shut. * Packing everything for a mid-point drop-off in the middle of two different trucks, adding an hour to the day * Smartly color coding every box to a room, then completely disregarding the codes and randomizing where they piled everything Hard to express this mixture of furry and disappointment. Lesson learned.

I hired Junk Luggers to remove four pieces of furniture from a single room. They charged $265 for…read moretwo pieces -- roughly 10 minutes of work carrying items to the curb. The full job would have been $400 for about 15 minutes of labor. When I objected, the work was already partially done, which is exactly how this pricing model works: by the time you understand what you're being charged, items are already at the road and you're negotiating from a losing position. Here's what I want every potential customer to understand: their pricing is based on volume, not effort. A bulky item that could be dismantled into a small pile in five minutes gets billed as a full bulky item. Dismantling furniture is trivial for a company that does this all day -- but they will not volunteer to do it, because bulk is how they charge you more. Before you book them or anyone like them: Ask if any item can be dismantled -- then do it yourself first. A disassembled bed frame or desk costs a fraction of an intact one. Get the total price in writing before a single item is touched. Do not let work begin on a verbal ballpark. Get quotes from 1-800-GOT-JUNK, local independent haulers, or your town's bulk pickup -- many municipalities take furniture at the curb for free or a small fee. I later called to discuss the charge and never received a call back, which tells you how much they value customers after the credit card clears. $265 for 10 minutes. Do the math on that hourly rate and decide for yourself.

Company claimed they would pick up dumpster on a Friday but instead came on Thursday morning…read more This cost me over $1400 because I had hired a construction crew for demo work on Thursday but now there NO was dumpster to put the trash. 2. Everything was put in writing via texts. I had only spoken with the secretary in the course of 2 months. But when I called to complain, the told me that they came to pick it up early because they needed to rent it to someone else! Double billing! The owner later called and tried to claim that I had called him directly and asked for a change of pick-up dates which was a insane complete lie. Owner even tried to claim that my Forman said it was ok to remove the dumpster. Again, a complete bald faced lie. 3. The website claims that they offer discounts for good, working used plumbing fixtures, mechanicals like refrigerators and clean wood for recycling. Complete lie! They claimed they did not know what the website claimed and would not honor any company policy posted on their website. Completely unprofessional and lies. Exhausting!

Doug only brought one and said he could bring more if I need it at any time (this was a Saturday). I called up to request another one and when he came back he said I didn't need it and was able to munch the debris down himself to fit the rest. Amazing to find a company that could easily made a few hundred dollars more and decided to help me out instead.
