Oh how I love this place. We are a new family to Rise. Today is my sons 3rd class and I'm watching…read morehim in his class as I type this. He has adhd and struggles with certain tasks. Yet he does so extremely well adapting with his class. THE INSTRUCTORS ARE AMAZING!! They are so kind and attentive. He comes out of class with such a strong heart. He is learning so many things at once and I'm so proud of him. I would 10/10 recommend this place to anyone who wants an actual martial arts training/ experience. My son goes twice a week. I feel my money and time are used towards such a great company. I'm really really happy we found this place and the staff. Love Rise. Truly happy here. Thank you Rise and thank you for helping shape our children.

Many years ago when we joined rise I would have never guessed how he would take to the program. I have to give credit to the school, the instructors, and their core teachings! They know how to teach... serious and solid but also know when to have fun and keep it light. I've watched my son grow up a lot in these classes... I'm very proud of the young man he is becoming and again I have to say... thank you Rise!

My child has been with PMA for a year and a half. I'm extremely disappointed in their billing and…read moremanagement. We originally signed up as the tiny champs class, was Charged a membership fee that came with a Gi and white belt only (this is because the little kids didn't need any supplies). Then when my kid turned 5, they asked to transition her to the older kids class, but did not tell me all of the materials needed to join.. On the spot on different days, my kid was expected to have these random supplies as if we were supposed to know this.... so more money was spent unexpectedly to provide such materials. Then to find out from other friends their kids got all of the supplies included with their membership fees. So unlucky us, I sucked it up and we paid it without complaining. Furthermore, they charge $50 per belt with graduation every quarter BEFORE the kids graduate and actually earn this belt. So if you get charged $50 and your kid didn't earn the belt then tough luck you'll have to wait for 7-14 business days until you get the money back. It makes NO sense why they don't just charge when the kid actually passes and graduates. Finally my daughter decided to move on to another extracurricular. When I tried to cancel our membership after we have had our account frozen (for 2 months), i was charged a full $150 membership cancellation fee, even though they knew we weren't going to go back.. It is not a contracted membership. We were told nothing can be done about it. It's their "policy" that they charge for an extra month regardless of whether you decide to continue with the last month or not. (Funny how this is the case bc the saaaame thing happened with my neighbor and they were not charged this $150 fee). So I suppose they enforce this policy when they want to or when it's convenient to them. Either way, I feel this is a dumb policy since kids often have a change of heart with their extracurricular activities and it's unfair to make them stay an extra month if they just don't like it. I could understand if this is an adult class, but with young kids, it's unpredictable what they want to do from one month to the next! Especially since there was already so much money put in to begin with! I feel ripped off over and over again and can't even end on good terms. The manager who I talked to said there's Nothing they can do about it. It is what it is, and there isn't anyone else to talk to about this. Perhaps the owner doesn't care that they've lost yet another customer who have been loyal for over a year. We've had 3 different instructors over the course of a year and they all have been amazing other than inconsistent rules but two have left unexpectedly --the first amazing instructor flat out no-showed and the second one didn't even give a notice-which probably says something about the leadership. I don't tend to write bad reviews but I strongly feel people need to go in with the expectation that you will be spending more than what you expect and what you were probably told, and have to deal with it. Don't think your monthly fees are enough to cover costs. You'll be spending $50 additional per quarter, spend more on supplies they hardly use (like nunchucks which they made us purchase and we only used 4 times in the whole year). On the other hand Ms Amy K was great. Although with bigger classes there is hardly any one-on-one focus to teach your kid--OH that's why they added "black belt training". So you can get that "one on one" experience for MORE MONEY. Again, all boils down to money, money and money. 1* not because of the instructors but simply for how this place is run and how they do business. I'd suggest that you find another MMA place that actually cares to teach martial arts in a positive way and not just use it as a money maker.

The instructors take time to work with your child even in a room full of other students. We have…read moreseen a confidence in our daughter since she has started Premier!

She looks forward to every class, is growing more patient and disciplined. Grand Master Pak and his daughter Ah Young both teach. Master Pak has high level black belts in multiple arts, as well does Ah Young. They are both very humble, kind, and patient. There students respect and adore them for good reason. I could not disagree more with the anonymous poster who said that this school is a money making scheme, nor is it "a belt factory". I've seen children and people in my own class not advance when they could not pass a test. Also, Ah Young is over the children and Master Pak comes to help when he is needed for the sheer volume of students or chasm between belts in a given class. A note about the chairs. These are tough, Korean people, who care deeply for their art. They devote the majority of the space to students and a small space to an office and chairs. There is honestly no more room for chairs and I have no problem sitting on a floor or standing. I've seen children grow confident and strong here. I've seen friendships made, and a family environment in place before I arrived. The family of students in my class has welcomed me in, stepped in to help me learn, and invited me to dinner and parties. But above all the deep respect that the 8:00pm students have for their teacher is incredible. They all wait on the store front for him to leave. They wait, then bow and honor him as he washes goodbye. His students truly love him and I am proud to be a part of something so great and genuine.

The training is serious, but the environment is incredibly welcoming, friendly, and fun. There is simply no faking such an authentic and warm environment. Master Pak has been very patient with me, helping me get back into TKD after a difficult year recovering from lower back surgery. There is a thriving children's program and multiple martial arts disciplines being taught concurrently. I certainly would recommend Master Pak and UMAEC without reservation!

Having been taught never to lay a hand on someone, especially girls, let alone pushing and grabbing, along with tumbling is still a learning process, but mostly positive. Its most difficult because he doesnt know what the martial arts is about. I even dont. Its not anout a knock out or hurting. He learns a move a day and may be repetitive the following day. But its not like karate where you might learn a move, repeat that quick motion, and move on. It had to be learned and almost instinctual. There are steps to follow for the move to be purposeful. Its difficult for my kid amongst others to comprehend and learn and that I (and theirs) need to pay attention from the narrow seating area to recreate at home to get the most of the teaching. Overall a good experience. Waiting to experience the Texas heat in the small space with large attendance. Btw, if you want "Brazilian" Jiu Jitsu, you'll get the emersive accent and light language barrier if you can handle it. Quite authentic culturally in this small local business. They seem to be very people loving, relaxed, yet strict with their dojo behavior as expected. I would actually appreciate more obedience and respect training like original japanese jiu jitsu.
