My husband had similar frustrations with working out. Luckily, he found Underground and we both enrolled and I'm so happy we did. I cannot say enough positive things. Our trainer (Danny) and coach (Shane) are both awesome. Danny has been fantastic with how positive and patient he is, especially with someone like me who's never even picked up weights in a gym before. He keeps workouts interesting and challenging. Shane helps provide accountability outside of the gym especially with eating; turns out I wasn't eating enough! Both are extremely knowledgeable and happy to pass along their knowledge. As for the gym itself. We signed up for semi-private sessions, but you get a lot of 1-on-1 time and it never really feels crowded. You never have to fight over equipment and everything is constantly wiped down. Also, scheduling sessions is easy and flexible. Honesty, my husband and I really look forward to going to the gym, it's actually fun, like really fun...not a chore. We've both changed physically, but also mentally. It asked "Are you bored of your regular workout routine?" and then I don't know what the rest said, because I was already thinking, "Heck yeah! I always do get bored easily!" After today's boxing boot camp with Alex, they definitely "walk the walk" when making fitness challenging yet fun. The energy level of the trainers here is incredible. The theme is, "Never give up." Today was just a taste of what their boxing classes are actually like. We did boxing drills, but the true working out with boxing gloves and contact occur on Thursday evenings, but even though this class was just a "sample," it definitely kicked everyone's derriere. There were grimaces, sweat flying everywhere, groans, and then also laughter. Not the typical combination you would get when you're working out hard. That's what makes this place unique. You can tell they are striving for a fun, yet motivational atmosphere. I know you may not feel that way when doing plank jumping jacks or boxing squats, but you'll feel amazing at the end. If I didn't live a light year away in the west valley, I would be here on a daily basis if I could! But when I'm in the area, I will definitely return and get some pointers about how to improve my fitness routine. There's always room for improvement, and the staff here loves to show you how (after all, that's what they're "trained" for)!!!

This past December, I was speaking with a friend who told me about his experience at The Exercise Coach in another part of the Greater Phoenix area. He told me about the minimal amount of working out and eating (or at least less than what I was already doing) and his success at getting stronger while losing some weight. I was impressed enough to call and learn more about the experience. The Exercise Coach was based on the idea that you can "transform the way you age with 20-minute workouts." Each Exercise Coach location has a private atmosphere with machines and fitness equipment suitable for all fitness levels and scientifically-backed. If you go to https://exercisecoach.com and request two free sessions, you can learn if this workout routine works for you. There are a number of different coaches tag each location, and they give you personalized attention while keeping track of your strength every week. When I first went to the Paradise Valley location, I met Bill the owner and all of the coaches. I found the machines and other equipment to be easy to use with the coaches' help. The catch is that the coaches would tell you HOW to use the machines and work out MANY different muscles on every visit. If you stay there for three months, you receive a strengths test that shows how you have changed over the months. I was impressed with myself that in just three months, I had increased my strength significantly. The individual workouts can be purchased in a 20-pack, 40-pack, or 60-pack to save some money. The cost of each workout is less than what a typical personal trainer may cost. Note that the workouts are only part of the experience, as nutrition is the other part. If you get a pack of workouts, you also get a free nutrition appointment and receive a copy of The Exercise Coach's Nutrition Playbook filled with great knowledge and details to help educate you on nutrition. I was also recommended to use the app called MyFitnessPal.com. After tracking food and being intentional over the last three months, I have lost some weight and converted some fat to muscle, but I have much further to go to hit my overall goals. With the coaches, nutrition resources, and workouts, I feel confident I will get there in time. I highly recommend The Exercise Coach (especially at the Paradise Valley location).

Damn. Wish I had never gone. What was I thinking. They have some fancy state-of-the-art equipment, but then they have a cheap workout device on the floor. It's very strange.
