The saying, "insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results" pretty much sums up my old workout and eating routine; doing the same thing for years and expecting change. My husband had similar frustrations with working out. Luckily, he found Underground and we both enrolled and I'm so happy we did. I cannot say enough positive things. Our trainer (Danny) and coach (Shane) are both awesome. Danny has been fantastic with how positive and patient he is, especially with someone like me who's never even picked up weights in a gym before. He keeps workouts interesting and challenging. Shane helps provide accountability outside of the gym especially with eating; turns out I wasn't eating enough! Both are extremely knowledgeable and happy to pass along their knowledge. As for the gym itself. We signed up for semi-private sessions, but you get a lot of 1-on-1 time and it never really feels crowded. You never have to fight over equipment and everything is constantly wiped down. Also, scheduling sessions is easy and flexible. Honesty, my husband and I really look forward to going to the gym, it's actually fun, like really fun...not a chore. We've both changed physically, but also mentally. I came into Underground Fitness 3 months ago looking to gain weight and strength/muscle. I didn't know if UF was right for me as I mostly saw focus on weight loss. However, I was very wrong. I work with both Shane and Danny to reach my goals and it's been nothing but fantastic. Both the mental and physicals rewards have been awesome. It's a really positive and friendly place. Danny is an awesome person to start my day with, keeping my workout routine very challenging, and answering all the 'whys' I have for each exercise. I had a lot of difficulties trying to workout on my own. I was unsure of weights/reps/sets/form but now that's all a thing of the past. I started training at this location in early august. The trainer I work with Dan took the time to really get me started properly. When I started I was beyond out of shape and could barely handle exercising. Over the last 3 and half months Dan has progressively focused my training to get me everything I needed to be successful. In that time I have lost 60 pounds. So I started with this to give people a glimpse of what can be accomplished when you find a gym that has good trainers that actually care about their clients progress. If your looking for a place to focus and get what you want this is the place to go. Being a bit biased I also recommend asking for Dan when you go in. Good lord is he patient and really knows how to motivate you and build a true exercise program you can grow with. The plan Dan has been building for me, is giving me a workout that I can use for the rest of my life. So yea underground fitness has that formula that just works. Before starting my fitness journey at Underground Fitness, my biggest problem was a lack of motivation, and I wasn't sure what to do to lose weight and become healthier. I mostly stuck to running, which was what I knew, but didn't really see too many results. Additionally, I felt like I wasn't committing and found I was making excuses more often than not. I often felt disappointed in myself, which led to lower self-esteem. I decided that I wanted to make the change for myself, and I wanted be happier, healthier and more confident. I was tired of disappointing myself and I decided that I had the power to do something about it. I've been going to Underground Fitness for about 8 weeks now, and have seen some HUGE changes/improvements, which I didn't think were possible for me to achieve. The daily routines that I've built during these past few weeks have created some healthy habits that I will be able to continue carrying forward in the future. I've also been enjoying lifting weights and look forward to training sessions each week, which I couldn't always say about working out in the past. I'm happier, I look a lot better than I did when I started, which has given me confidence, and I've become more disciplined. I've been working with UGF for over 9 months now and am typically not the one to write reviews unless I'm super impressed with the service and experience. And, on that count UGF scores a perfect 10 - I would have given them more stars if I could for they have truly earned it. Right from the start, I found the entire experience very customized and centralized to my needs. My initial workouts/sessions were with Jake - the owner and subsequently I got the chance to work with a no. of their trainers. They took the pains to understand me, my situation, helped in defining my goals and then worked out a plan that they have periodically changed as I went about my fitness journey. Slowly but surely I've seen changes in my body both physically and mentally. They showed me progress, held me accountable and are the reason for the development of my overall fitness - something that is very very important to me, especially as I get older. When I would fall off the wagon (which has happened) they helped me get back on track - always motivating, educating, challenging and encouraging me to do better. UGF has taken the time to understand my body, the exercises that I like and have used that info to structure their programs and get me to my current state. I have worked out with some trainers in the past but over at UGF found them to really bring in the holistic viewpoint for their coaching focuses across the different gamuts - nutrition, form, strength, etc., and I really feel in them I have found my go to health coach. They have always worked hard to accommodate my changing schedules with a smile (don't know how they do it, sometimes I drive myself crazy) and what I find fascinating is that the times that I have had to change trainers they seem to know exactly where I am at and seamlessly pick up the reigns and build on my routine. Every time I come out to work, I feel the positive energy and it's just a great feeling to know happy driven people who are passionate about making you succeed. I now look forward to working out (something I dreaded in the past) and highly recommend them to fellow people who thought fitness wasn't for them or too hard - they really help in breaking it down and I am a perfect example of someone who has made that transformation and digging it now. The pricing is super transparent and they have a month to month arrangement which shows you the amount of conviction they have on the value they provide and I see the same people working out and new ones constantly joining. I have been going to Underground since the first week of January 2018 and I am the strongest I have ever been in my entire life. For the first time ever I have real muscles and can do things I never thought I'd be able to do! I seriously could not have done it without JoDee's guidance. She is the best trainer ever and the other trainers, Scott and Alec, are also great at what they do! Their knowledge about health and fitness is out of this world. I have been going to Underground Fitness for over 4 years. Jake Freeman has been my personal trainer the entire time! My initial fitness goal was to not only lose weight but to start eating healthier. I lost 30 pounds in the first three months and also met my body fat goal! Seemed great at first. I signed up for sessions twice a week. I wanted to sign up for once a week and still work out with a friend other days. I was persuaded to do twice a week and told that if I didn't make it in I could still roll over those sessions. Months later I verbally asked for my account to not be charged because I had so many sessions left over. I was still charged. When asked to reverse the charges I was told they could not be reversed and I needed to sign a paper to hold future charges and I should read my contract. I NEVER was given the paper prior to being charged! So I was told the manager would call me, but he never did. They were not authorized to charge my credit card therefore I'm disputing this with my credit card company. Also, the first review posted is the assistant manager's girlfriend. read more

I have been training at Underground Fitness since they took over at the Desert Ridge gym location. Kim Pederson is my trainer. Kim is an outstanding person, trainer, motivator and friend. She is the example of what you want to see in a trainer from a fitness perspective as well! Kim can challenge male clients as well as she can female clients, but as a woman, I value having a trainer that can relate to the female perspective when she is planning a workout for me. Alec has also been a great addition to the Desert Ridge location. He has implemented many great changes and he also helps to guide and motivate every client that comes through the door. The trainers in this location are knowledgable, personable and supportive. There is no motivation by intimidation, only positive feedback yielding real results. I have worked primarily with Nicole, who is fantastic, but have received good nutritional and fitness advice from the entire team. In the course of a few months (sessions 2x/week) I've dropped a pants size, broadened my chest, and strengthened my arms, legs and core.
