Do not go here, they will low ball you if you are unknowledgeable. I believe I worked with the lady named "Michelle" (Older Lady, Grey Hair), she offered about 40% value for my silver to make profit this was $170 worth of silver. Ridiculous. She not only lowballed me multiple times, she was unprofessional picking up phone calls mid inspection/pricing. She really tried to hustle me and I walked away from the deal. Going down the street getting almost full price for my silver. I also brought a very heavy gold chain to Anthony and I had just realized how much he lowballed me for my gold. Very disappointed. PGS's online advertising gave me the misleading impression they had good, competitive prices on silver coins and bullion. Not so. When I got there they were asking $12 over spot for generic silver rounds and $16 over spot for 1 oz. Canadian silver maples. Not even close to competitive. They offered to match online prices but they compared only the highest priced online dealers, not the cheaper ones. The woman complained she had bought a lot of inventory when the silver price was high. Not my problem, lady. Business is business. I'll take my business elsewhere. First timer. Today with my mother we visited the Villa Park store to go through items from our family estate. The facility was immaculate & we were greeted immediately & very shortly after had the privilege of sitting down with Jill to go over our items. I'm from a generation of collecting coins, finding them in change, in the dirt, and the casinos paying in silver dollars. I learned a lot about grading, mintage, where they were made. Now I have established my experience, let me be brutally honest. A year ago, I wanted to buy a 1 oz .999 pure silver dollar for a gift. Red Flag #1: The gentleman who helped me told me the company is expanding all over and they were better than another company down the street which was going out of business. Red Flag #2: As I looked in the glass case of bowls of silver dollars both Morgan and Peace, the little sign said, Uncirculated/BU. I looked at the worn coins and thought...what the heck? I looked at a few Morgans, the feathers worn on the chest on front and worn on the back. The headband worn. Red Flag #3: I heard a lady tell a person who came in to sell her coins, they were not in very good condition, and the saleslady said she would give, I think was less than $30. Thankfully she refused. As the elderly lady was leaving I asked to see her coins because Flags 1 and 2 told me a factor of intentional deceit. She had a Morgan CC Silver dollar (hard to find) a Mexican 1 oz coin, and a third coin I do not remember. We went outside. I gave her a lesson on what to look for. First, the Morgan she had was not BU, but hardly circulated for the details were sharp. The chest feathers, the tail feathers, and the CC marking told a story. I told her condition matters if selling to a collector, the marking matters, most of all which the sales lady forgot to mention was the mintage. Mintage is very important to collectors. The less minted, the higher the value. As I left the store a man sat in a chair with a small brown box. I hope he did not sell to them. I went to the other store going out of business, supposedly has been around for a couple of decades, and are not going anywhere. I believe it is called Boulevard Coins. They were nice, spent time with me and taught me a lesson about coins in cases and graded or buying loose the same coin in a plastic bag. We pay extra for the grading of the coin. Geez, what a world we live in now. Being a collector, and a Baby Boomer, I had no issue about holding a coin properly. Never touch the front or back for the oils from your skin will show up someday. Hold valuable coins on the side. There is so much to teach and learn. I won't buy any graded coins for I don't care about MS65-70. I can see for myself. I'm not saying to avoid this business, because many people are in dire straits and need a few bucks. Some people just want to sell for meltdown value. A coin shop owner told me forty years ago, we are banks for coin shops. They sell to us at their price, we hold it, then we sell it back to them for less than the marketprice. At that point I stopped buying from coin stores on the weekly basis I did. There is only one place I go when I do to buy a coin for a gift. Not this company. read more

Beware of this place!!!! They will not pay you what you silver or gold is worth!! I took the same 6 piece set of sterling silver flatware that PGS Gold said they would give me 500.00 for to A1 and they gave me $745.00 very next day and the price of silver had dropped by .50 cents!!! They are crooks at PGS Gold do not trust them!! They have ripped me off more time than I care to mention!! So upset about this!! BEWARE BEWARE !! read more

Comfortable seating for their guests. Very professional and courteous people HOWEVER, I brought in a bag of scrap silver. After a very friendly conversation I was offered $4.00, which made absolutely no sense to me. Thirty minutes later I took the very same bag to an uncomfortable, kind of ugly joint in Rolling Meadows. He offered me $25.00 for the very same bag which will just be melted down, anyway. Another customer was inside and told me A1 has the best pricing. I was very disappointed that PGS offered me 1/5th the price. Sellers beware. (A 1 still took my DL and handed me a receipt), so all seemed to be legal. I went back and sold the other place $370 worth of Gold and sterling silver. Im glad I did my homework. read more

Also learned other things other than coins they take jewelry and they have Party Gold Style where they actually come to your home and you invite your friends to sell items like silver flatware, gold or silver outdated jewelry. We brought 2 Ziploc bags of old coins into the Villa Park store and were walked through the sorting and evaluating phases of determining the coins values. The employee explained everything about coin content, face value and collectibility. We got to see her x-ray 2 coins to confirm their content, and she explained why she used that machine. All in all a really interesting experience, we were treated professionally and feel that the valuations were fair. read more
