I had the very best experience today! I was in need of an extraction of my infected tooth! My dentist wouldn't pull it and referred me to a specialist! I've been going to Dr Pham for years at this point. When I moved to Portland, I was looking for a new dentist, already hesitant because you know, dentists are scary. Found his office right near my place and decided to check it out. Worst could happen was I hated the service and never go back. 8 years later I'm still going to him and now going on a quarterly basis to keep my teeth in check. Love his staff, especially Mallory and Heather. I don't dread going to the dentist anymore. Recently, unfortunately my insurance isn't covered by his office but I still keep going for the service. I'm getting a big dental procedure done at another dentist and Dr Pham made sure to give me recommendations on what to tell the other dentist for my longterm teeth care. He CARES about his patients, even if for economic reasons they can't see him for everything. I can't recommend this office enough. Oh, and he tells the best jokes. read more

I do not recommend this place. My entire family switched to Pham dental after our dentist retired. Prior to coming to Pham dental each member of our family MAYBE had one cavity every 3-4 years. I have had two in my entire life. Pham dental told us that that we had cavities every time we came in. At least one cavity. They would show us the x rays and i would never see what they were saying showed cavities. Also in the past if i had a cavity i would pay my dentist to fix the one cavity. I am not sure if this is standard practice or not but Dr. Pham would have us pay for two cavities when we would get one. He would say "see the cavity is between the teeth here, so that means it's really two cavities and I'll have to fix both teeth" After three checkups where every family member was told we had cavities we made the choice to switch. Now we are seeing a new dentist and SURPRISE we have no more cavities. read more

I made an appointment on a Thursday to have a broken tooth repaired. It was my first visit to this office so they did full x-rays. Dr. Pham told me I had two cavities and we made an appointment to fill them and fix my broken tooth for the following Monday. While sedated on Monday, this dentist mysteriously discovered 8 cavities he had missed four days earlier and proceeded to drill and fill 11 teeth in my mouth. I am on a liquid diet now because there is no part of my mouth that isn't in pain. I do not understand how eight cavities can appear in four days. It is my belief this man drilled healthy teeth to pad his wallet and I have reported him to the Oregon Board of Dentistry. read more

Had an appt to get my teeth cleaned only. Full mouth x-rays taken by very nice young man. Saw Dr Pham and said twice, "good no cavities". Then saw hygienist. She said shame on my prior dentist for not dealing with my deep pockets. Also said, need a crown replaced and replace another crown which has a cavity under edge of it and strongly suspects a fractured root on another tooth and needs to be pulled and put in an implant. I thought odd, they said if I wanted it done that day, dentist had the time. No other appts? Said need to do a deep cleaning on 3 teeth and could do 2 that day. No discussion what it would cost me prior to. Thankfully declined the crown. The hygienist deep cleaned the 2 teeth and did a LITTLE cleaning on few other teeth. The hygienist talked so much of the time!! didn't have time to do a thorough cleaning as had another patient after me. When went to pay for this procedure, cost me $417! to deep clean 2 teeth. When asked why so much for only 2 teeth, was told cleaned both upper and lower half of one side of mouth. When hygientist later heard how I felt did only 2 teeth, she said did a thorough cleaning on all the teeth of upper and lower half. I used to be a dental assistant and she did not do a thorough cleaning! Hardly touched any other teeth. The receptionist at the front desk is way incompetent and should not have this job! I waited for an estimate what they would charge for prodedures that felt I need. The receptionist input a lot on computer and took a long time doing so, like not sure what she's doing. Realized she had made a mistake and started again. The dentist walked by and was surprised to see me still standing there. When he asked receptionist if an issue, blamed it on computer problems. NOT! I waited 45 min to get an estimate and pay! No exaggeration. Later when hygienist heard I was surprised by the cost, etc., she called me and tried to explain, bla, bla. The office seemed to be hurting for patients. No one else there, dentist had time to do a crown, etc. When saw my payment I made on my credit card statement, the receptionist overcharged me. She tried to tell me no correct. Told her I have sheet they printed out with her handwritting also on it stating $417.60 was due for that days procedure. She charged $440.10. Then said yes see overcharged and will credit my card. When read her my card # had to do so twice. Whan asked what the credit will be, said $23, not $22.50. Oh boy! At least they should get a new receptionist. UPDATE: I was right in my gut feeling about this location. Said I needed unnecessary work done on my teeth. They seemed desperate to make $. Went to another known good dentist for second opinion and they said I only need work on 1 tooth, not 3. Only 1 crown with decay. Dr Pham's office said I needed an implant and 2 crowns. Saved myself $12,873 by getting a second opinion. Also other hygenist and dentist said had no deep pockets of concern. I so wanted to like Dr Pham's office. All seemed very nice (accept the receptionist seemed to have no emotions, seemed sad). Looked again at my estimate the receptionist printed out and put a procedure in twice adding another $327 for extraction. Maybe having a bad day... read more

I was referred to Dr. Pham by a friend who was going to a dental hygienist school. I've now been going for about 2 years and it's always a pleasant experience and great personal attentive care. The staff are incredibly nice, and truly like to get to know their patients. I don't care for getting X-rays and having the little pic bites jammed in my mouth but they keep your spirits high by joking with you. I heard Dr. Pham give me a little cheer from another booth "you can do it!" One thing I appreciate is that I can ask all the questions I want about my teeth and they provide me with lots of answers. Dr. Pham loves teaching his patients. He shows me the X-rays and up close pictures of my mouth which I don't think I've really reviewed elsewhere. And you have to love the bag of freebies :) Highly recommended! read more

I have personally been coming here since 2012. This review is over due. Dr. Pham is so knowledgeable and skilled! You can tell he truly cares about his job, patients and does all he can to help you feel at ease and understand your procedures. He is the dentist that other dentists refers complicated patients to! Its good to know you will not be referred out. My father needs a bone graft and my Mother's wisdom teeth was attached to multiple nerves -- all of which was taken care of by Dr. Pham. Dr.Pham is the most amazing dentist you'll ever meet. I can't say enough good things about my experience. I have extremely bad anxiety when it comes to the dentist, panic attacks and all. However, when I went to see Dr.Pham, that all turned around. He emphasized putting me at ease and he explained everything so I was completely aware of what was going on and what to expect. I had a lot of questions and he remained patient answering them all until I was comfortable. I appreciated that so much. To me that made all the difference in the world. I can say from personal experience that it is very clear from chatting with him and having multiple procedures done by him that he is very good at what he does and is highly educated/experienced. I needed 2 Crowns, Oral surgery to extract a risky impacted wisdom tooth, a bone graft and IV sedation. He skillfully did all of these things in one swift procedure. Not many dentists can, or are willing to do, all of those things. Normally they would just refer you to a million other different dentists which is a HUGE headache to deal with researching who makes you comfortable, do they have skill, scheduling, etc.. I recovered with very little swelling and zero complications. His compassionate/understanding approach, put me at ease which is something I wasn't expecting. I am telling you, having the right dentist who makes you actually feel comfortable makes all the difference in the world and Dr.Pham is most definitely that dentist. Plus his facility is high tech and his staff is efficient. read more

Dr Pham has been the kindest and most accommodating dentist that I have ever been to. He is patient and understanding and I never felt I was being a bother, even when calling his personal cell phone. He is a very busy guy I'm sure as I saw him at the PSU office. I was very nervous about have my wisdom teeth removed, but everything went great and he made me feel better during the procedure and talked me though everything and offered me breaks. I have been going to Dr Pham for years now. I would never go to another dentist, EVER!! He is knowledgeable, compassionate, and can do ANY dental procedure known to man. I recently had my first visit to Dr. Pham's office, and as an orthodontist who knows the industry well, I must say I am thoroughly impressed! His staff is very friendly and warm, their professionalism and expertise were on point, and I have most certainly found my new dental home. I was very thankful for Lisa at the front desk who was kindly able to fit me in on short notice for my follow-up to fix a cracked tooth. My cleaning with Heather was thorough, gentle, and hands-down the best cleaning I've ever experienced - and I've had many! She was so sweet and kind, and her attention to detail was highly appreciated. Dr. Pham ran on time and was so friendly and kind - he's a gem to find in the dental field. His assistant, Joy, took the necessary post-op x-ray accurately on her first try and was also very sweet. Everyone at the office impressed me, and I look forward to returning in six months. My kids have been seeing Dr Pham for nearly 10 years. He's a fantastic dentist and explains all treatment and options fantastically.

I had all four of my wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Pham at the PSU clinic and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I have horrible dental anxiety and have been putting off getting my teeth removed for almost 4 years. I finally got the courage to do it and I can't believe how easy it was. I was given a sedative pill an hour before surgery and it completely put me at ease. The only thing I remember from the actual surgery is when Dr. Pham said I was all done, and I said "what about the other teeth??" I couldn't believe how fast and painless the procedure was, it only took about 30 minutes to remove all 4 teeth. Definitely will be getting all of my dental procedures done here! read more

Dr. Pham is the best of the best! He has extracted our children's wisdom teeth with the finesse of a master. He does a great job of identifying and solving dental issues. When he was concerned about how a family member was doing after an appointment, he gave me his cell # to call after hours if necessary. I went to Dr. Bao Pham because I needed an implant. His office was very friendly and comfortable and they worked with me for scheduling and finances. As for the care that I received it couldn't have been better! Dr. Pham evaluated my situation and explained my options and our agreed upon treatment wit deliberate care and I was informed of everything. My husband Jon and I are retired from the medical field and over the years have been to many dentists. We have been seeing Dr. Pham for the last few years and are extremely impressed with his proficiency . Between my husband and I we have had root canals, crowns, removal of wisdom teeth, implants and all the basic routine dental care done. Dr. Pham is so versatile and knowledgeable he seems to be able to handle any dental needs we have had. He even made time to see my husbands elderly parents when they were having dental problems. We were so impressed with his compassion and the kindness he showed them. So, not only is Dr. Pham a phenomenal dentist he is very caring to his patients and will make time if any dental issues arise. Also, he has the most wonderful staff and we are impressed at how well the office is managed and feel lucky to have found him.
