In terms of explaining exactly what is going on with my teeth, what procedures I need and why, Dr. Chung is by far the most professional dentist I have met. He took the time to go through my x-rays , offering a very concise explanation and patiently answering all my questions. I have never come across a dentist who took the time to do this in such a methodical and compassionate manner. Both he and his daughter , Dr. Caitlin Chung, his daughter,( also a dentist) impressed me with the same level of kindness and personal attention. I have seen many dentists and orthodontist in my 72 years and I must say ,frankly ,they are the kindest and most truly solicitous dentists I have ever encountered. I felt that they really saw me as a person and not just really another set of teeth to inspect. Really wonderful people and professionals read more

I decided go online to see if Dr. Chung was back in private practice...I immediately saw his smiling handsome face! Our family were patients from 1999 - to 2010. We are no longer in the area. I have a huge fear of the dentist - going back to childhood. Dr. Chung was a blessing to me back in 2010 ish while I was going thru a neuralgia I developed after seeing a endodontist while an expat in Hong Kong. Doctor and his staff were exceptional. 5 stars... 10 out of 10 would recommend. I hope you and your family are doing well J Schuh read more

Thought he would be my new dentist but told me I had gum disease and seemed like he wanted to needlessly alarm me and suggested my past dental office had "really dropped the ball". I get my teeth cleaned on a quarterly basis and never heard this from anyone. I decided to move on. My current dental hygienists and dentist disagree with his assessment. read more

Dr.John Chung at Tigard City Dental is wonderful and very gentle. I had a very bad experience with seeing dentist when I was 7-8 years old. I was very scared of needle injection in the teeth and having braces, very painful. Last month I had to remove all my 4 wisdom teeth out, one of them was an impact tooth. He walked me through the process to make me feel comfortable of removing all 4 teeth without having anesthesia (the one that make you sleep while under the operation). I felt quite relaxed while Dr. John was extracting all my four teeth without any extreme pain or discomfort. Before seeing Dr. John, I hesitated extracting my 4 wisdom teeth because of my 20-ish years of needle injection into my teeth and the very expensive cost of anesthesia at other dental offices. But Dr. John helped me to take them out with full relaxation at non-expensive cost. Dr. John's office is my and my husband's go-to place when we need someone to take care of our teeth. Shannon at front- desk is so kind and lovely. She always picks up the phone when I call her. She makes sure that I'm reminded multiple times that my appointment is coming up. Dr. John's office is so clean and pretty. I feel like I go to a spa rather than a dentist office every time I'm there. read more

Dr. Chung is by far the best Dentist I've ever been to and I'm not one to just throw out compliments. His staff is incredibly friendly and professional. I've never had to wait more than 5 mins in their waiting area for my scheduled visits. Everything is clean, and modern with the most up-to-date equipment. I've been coming here for over 3 years and each time I come in I'm reminded why I love them so much. I even referred my husband and he is equally as impressed. If you're in the Tigard or surrounding area I would highly recommend trying out Dr. Chung, he and his team are the best in the business! read more

For me, the anxiety of going to the dentist is usually the worst part. Visiting the dentist during the COVID-19 pandemic surely didn't make this any better! However, Dr. Chung, Vicki, Robin, Lexi, and the rest of the staff made this the single best dental experience I've had in my lifetime. The staff was extremely welcoming, and I think they handled the COVID-19 measures very well. I am super impressed with Dr. Chung. He was personal and he took the time to explain everything to me. He also found issues that were missed by my last dentist around a year ago. It looks like I'll be seeing more of Dr. Chung and his staff. The dentist still isn't my favorite place to go, but if I have to go, I'm glad it's to Tigard City Dental. read more

This is the best dentist experience I've ever had. They somehow always impress me. 9/10 - Value 10/10 - Service and convenience 10/10 - Facilities and professionalism 8/10 - Parking The service is quick, professional, and reasonably priced. And staff are friendly and caring, which is exactly what I want in a medical provider for me and my family. It's honestly just really nice to be there. They have these heated massage chairs and tv's and offer little things that actually make me feel happy to be at a dentist. The new facilities are super clean and aesthetic. I get this feeling I'm in a space ship or futuristic scene when I'm there. It's a cool feeling. read more

Super professional and personable practice. I bought a groupon for my cleaning and X-rays. Even though I got a discount price on it, the service they gave me was fantastic. I was in and out in an hour. Very attentive and my teeth feel as clean as ever. Thanks!! read more

Had my first dental appointment with Dr. Chung last week for a plethora of dental issues. Bottom line, this was by the best, most anti-anxiety dental visit I have ever had. I have some mental health issues derived from 22 years in the Army, with many of those years in "high-intensity" environments. Needless to say, going to a new location, having someone I don't know look at my teeth and hypervigilance about my personal safety was a sure combination for me storming out of Dr. Chung's office. Just the opposite happened. Dr. Chung's staff was extremely welcoming, courteous and professional - immediately lowering my extreme anxiety as I walked in the door. Dr. Chung was amazing. He instantly identified that I had some mental health challenges and was hyper anxiety ridden. He immediately calmed me down and treated me with the utmost friendliness and concern. Once calm, Dr. Chung did an amazing job of an initial inspection of my teeth (which are in "poor shape" from years of neglect due to apathy). Dr. Chung was completely non-judgmental about how I had been "caring" for my teeth, and gently made a thorough assessment. After completion of his initial assessment, Dr. Chung (with absolutely no pressure) outlined several courses of action to get my teeth "back on track. All courses of action were explained at layman's level, as well as the pro's and con's of each. Upon completion of Dr. Chung's assessment, he assured me he would do everything he could to ensure my visits were as stress free as possible and that he acknowledged my "challenges." What I thought was going to be a traumatic dental visit was just the opposite. Given the mannerisms, professionalism and genuine care Dr. Chung had for me on my initial visit - I highly recommend Tigard City Dental! J. "Scott" Follansbee read more

Dr. Chung is absolutely amazing! He's not overly aggressive in recommending treatment, which we appreciate in a dentist. But he is very thorough, honest, and helpful. The whole staff is extremely friendly! I highly recommend this practice. read more

Dr Chung is the real deal. I found his Tigard City Dental while Googling a Dentist who specializes in TMJ. I sent an email to their website and within hours he had already replied. He had me come in early the next morning for an evaluation. The office is modern, crisp, clean, and large. It is located behind JoAnnes fabric off of Hall and 99 W. I was greeted with smiling eyes as everyone is wearing masks. After they took my Covid temperature and I filled out the forms I was taken to a clean and cheerful room for evaluation. My jaw is out of alignment and even though he worked with me for quite a while the jaw remained firmly out if sync. Dr Chung explained that he is not a TMJ Specialist, but a DDS that works with TMJ patients. He referred me to specialists. He was genuinely concerned about my bite. He offers a discount coupon in the Tigard Times, and I'm going to bring one in the next time I come for a cleaning and exam. This is going to be our new dentist. If you are looking for general dentistry look no further, I guarantee that you too will be pleased with his professionalism and understanding. read more

Look at their ratings! My wife and I were totally surprised by the professionalism and friendliness of Dr. Chung, the dental assistant who attended us, and the front office staff. The office was spotless. The latest Covid precautions were properly followed and the staff had advanced PPE equipment. The dental equipment was modern. What made this appointment standout for us though was the staffs conveying a genuine warmth and concern for our well being, Dental offices often seem like used car lots with their aggressive sales and marketing programs pushing additional services. Our experience with Tigard City Dental was the opposite. The options were described clearly. The recommendations were supported with photographs. The staff was knowledgeable and answered all our questions. I wouldn't hesitate recommending this dental clinic to my friends and family. read more

Dr. Chung and staff are very nice and awesome to work with. I had a great experience as their patient.

Seriously, TCD is as good as it gets. I've been to a lot of dentists over the years but Dr. Chung and his staff made me feel comfortable and informed. They do it all and don't pressure you into things, but instead make recommendations based on your situation. Will ALWAYS be coming back to them for everything Dental related. read more

Dr. Chung and his staff are excellent! I was a bit unsure using a Groupon for a dental visit, but I'd do it all over again. If you don't have dental insurance and are looking to get cleaning and exam I highly recommend this office! read more

I went in for a routine cleaning. I had a great experience. The staff was super friendly and professional. It's a small office and team so it's always the same hygienist and doctor which is important to me. It means consistency and building a relationship with staff. Not the conveyer belt version of some offices pumping patients in and out. Staff took their time and were gentle. Super clean space. read more

Minus a few years (about 5), Dr. Chung has been my dentist since I was 19 (that's aging both of us, sorry). He was my daughter's first dentist and she was devastated when he sold his practice a few years ago. She begged and begged to go back to Dr. Chung. When we found out he opened a new practice, we were ecstatic to be welcomed back. I never feel nervous going to see Dr. Chung and his staff. I never feel that I will be pressured to have a treatment that is not necessary. He explains things thoroughly, puts your nerves and mind at ease for big procedures and has the best chair side manner. I'm so happy to be back in his care. read more

After going to another dentist and was quoted a shocking fee for work that didn't need to be done. I went to see Dr Chung. He was very helpful, friendly and professional. He asked me several times if I felt any pain. (in which I didn't) Great friendly staff. I HIGHLY recommend Dr Chung and Tigard Dental !!!!!!!! read more

Tigard City Dental is great. Dr. Chung and his staff are awesome! I recently moved to the area and needed to find a new dentist fast. I was having an acute situation that needed to be dealt with right away. They got me right in, he quickly assessed the situation, thoroughly reviewed treatment options with me, and took his time to answer my questions and hear my concerns. He totally set me at ease and didn't rush me into any decisions. I needed to have a molar extracted, and a bone graft put in its place. It is 6 months later, and it has healed beautifully. We are now moving into implant phase/crown phase. I know I am in good hands. The added bonus is that he has a great personality. He is fun and funny. In addition, he is focused, patient, and kind. Kelly, one of the Hygienists, is great! I recently went in for my exam and cleaning. She gave me the best cleaning of my life. Torie, the Receptionist is upbeat and friendly. She is very helpful and knowledgeable about insurance plans. She knows what is covered and what will be out of pocket. After my exam, she had the insurance coverage/out-of-pocket estimates for my implant/crown ready and waiting for me, which was awesome. She clearly explained everything, so there will be no surprises and I can make my plans accordingly. My search is over. Thanks Tigard City Dental! read more

I'm a senior citizen and really picky about my dentists. I've never had a more competent dentist than Dr. Chung. Plus he's mercury-free and one of the happiest and most cheerful people I know. I consider him a true friend. All of this rubs off too. Each other person in his office has a great personality and is extremely competent. I look forward to seeing each one of them every time I visit. Look no further ~~ you'll get the best care here, and as a bonus, you'll enjoy each visit. read more

I had a great experience at Tigard City Dental after purchasing a groupon for there. Robin made the x rays quick and painless, and Dr. Chung was very personable and competent. The hygienist Kelly made every effort to ensure my comfort during the cleaning (even though it had been 3 years since my last cleaning). Dr. Chung even checked in with me as I was checking out to make sure I wasn't in pain. Great service! read more

I've put off going to the dentist for several years because of some bad experiences with other dentists in the area. My husband suggested I purchase a groupon and at least get my teeth cleaned at Tigard City Dental PC. I was skeptical and very nervous about going. I am so thankful I did though. The experience was very pleasant and I actually enjoyed the exam and having my teeth cleaned. I suspected I was having an issue with one of my teeth and Dr Chung confirmed my suspicions. I have never experienced such a friendly staff and doctor. The cleaning by Lexie was very thorough and she is so personable and pleasant. Although I have to go back and have my issue fixed, I am so much less anxious. I highly recommend Dr Chung and his amazing staff at Tigard City Dental PC. read more

Dr. John Chung purchased Dr. Rick Johnson's practice recently. My family has been a loyal patient if Dr. Johnson for 20+ years and I was quite nervous about the change. Dr. Chung is very likable and professional. Turns out he is an awesome dentist who I will continue to see for all of my dental care. I will miss Dr. Johnson and wish him well. read more

This review is actually from my mom to Dr. Chung. She doesn't use social media but wanted to make sure that the world knew how grateful she is to have found a dentist that not only does great work, but who listens and whom she trusts! She has had some bad experiences with dentists in the past and is one tough customer when it comes to trusting a new one. He was very patient with her, listened to her concerns, was prompt with delivery (for her crown from the lab) and did excellent work. He also makes sure that she is comfortable. She is beyond happy and relieved and wants to tell anyone who is looking for a superb dentist that Dr. Chung is the one! read more

Dr. Chung and his entire staff are exceptional. They make the experience of going to the dentist completely stress-free and dare I say, enjoyable. I found out about them through a Groupon, which in my experience usually results in less-than-great service, but they were the absolute exception. The staff is so incredibly friendly and welcoming, and Dr. Chung takes great care to keep you extremely informed about what he is doing and why he is doing it every step of the way. I really can't believe how wonderful they are and feel so lucky to have found them! If you are looking for a dentist you need to come here, for real. read more

I had to get a crown put back in place and needed to find a dentist. I called Tigard City Dental based on their Yelp reviews. I was as greeted on the phone by a very sweet women. She was able to get me an appointment pretty quick. I'm a not a huge fan of dentists, not sure anyone is, but they made me feel right at ease when I arrived. Everyone on the team is wonderful!
