He took the time to go through my x-rays , offering a very concise explanation and patiently answering all my questions. I have never come across a dentist who took the time to do this in such a methodical and compassionate manner. Both he and his daughter , Dr. Caitlin Chung,his daughter,( also a dentist) impressed me with the same level of kindness and personal attention. I decided go online to see if Dr. Chung was back in private practice...I immediately saw his smiling handsome face! Our family were patients from 1999 - to 2010. We are no longer in the area. Dr.John Chung at Tigard City Dental is wonderful and very gentle. I had a very bad experience with seeing dentist when I was 7-8 years old. I was very scared of needle injection in the teeth and having braces, very painful. Last month I had to remove all my 4 wisdom teeth out, one of them was an impact tooth. He walked me through the process to make me feel comfortable of removing all 4 teeth without having anesthesia (the one that make you sleep while under the operation). I felt quite relaxed while Dr. John was extracting all my four teeth without any extreme pain or discomfort. Before seeing Dr. John, I hesitated extracting my 4 wisdom teeth because of my 20-ish years of needle injection into my teeth and the very expensive cost of anesthesia at other dental offices. But Dr. John helped me to take them out with full relaxation at non-expensive cost. Dr. John's office is my and my husband's go-to place when we need someone to take care of our teeth. Shannon at front- desk is so kind and lovely. She always picks up the phone when I call her. She makes sure that I'm reminded multiple times that my appointment is coming up. Dr. Chung is by far the best Dentist I've ever been to and I'm not one to just throw out compliments. His staff is incredibly friendly and professional. I've never had to wait more than 5 mins in their waiting area for my scheduled visits. Everything is clean, and modern with the most up-to-date equipment. I've been coming here for over 3 years and each time I come in I'm reminded why I love them so much. I even referred my husband and he is equally as impressed. For me, the anxiety of going to the dentist is usually the worst part. Visiting the dentist during the COVID-19 pandemic surely didn't make this any better! However, Dr. Chung, Vicki, Robin, Lexi, and the rest of the staff made this the single best dental experience I've had in my lifetime. The staff was extremely welcoming, and I think they handled the COVID-19 measures very well. I am super impressed with Dr. Chung. He was personal and he took the time to explain everything to me. He also found issues that were missed by my last dentist around a year ago. It looks like I'll be seeing more of Dr. Chung and his staff. Had my first dental appointment with Dr. Chung last week for a plethora of dental issues. Bottom line, this was by the best, most anti-anxiety dental visit I have ever had. I have some mental health issues derived from 22 years in the Army, with many of those years in "high-intensity" environments. Needless to say, going to a new location, having someone I don't know look at my teeth and hypervigilance about my personal safety was a sure combination for me storming out of Dr. Chung's office. Just the opposite happened. Dr. Chung's staff was extremely welcoming, courteous and professional - immediately lowering my extreme anxiety as I walked in the door. Dr. Chung was amazing. He instantly identified that I had some mental health challenges and was hyper anxiety ridden. He immediately calmed me down and treated me with the utmost friendliness and concern. Once calm, Dr. Chung did an amazing job of an initial inspection of my teeth (which are in "poor shape" from years of neglect due to apathy). Dr. Chung was completely non-judgmental about how I had been "caring" for my teeth, and gently made a thorough assessment. After completion of his initial assessment, Dr. Chung (with absolutely no pressure) outlined several courses of action to get my teeth "back on track. All courses of action were explained at layman's level, as well as the pro's and con's of each. Upon completion of Dr. Chung's assessment, he assured me he would do everything he could to ensure my visits were as stress free as possible and that he acknowledged my "challenges." What I thought was going to be a traumatic dental visit was just the opposite. Dr Chung is the real deal. I found his Tigard City Dental while Googling a Dentist who specializes in TMJ. I sent an email to their website and within hours he had already replied. He had me come in early the next morning for an evaluation. The office is modern, crisp, clean, and large. It is located behind JoAnnes fabric off of Hall and 99 W. I was greeted with smiling eyes as everyone is wearing masks. After they took my Covid temperature and I filled out the forms I was taken to a clean and cheerful room for evaluation. My jaw is out of alignment and even though he worked with me for quite a while the jaw remained firmly out if sync. Dr Chung explained that he is not a TMJ Specialist, but a DDS that works with TMJ patients. He referred me to specialists. He was genuinely concerned about my bite. He offers a discount coupon in the Tigard Times, and I'm going to bring one in the next time I come for a cleaning and exam. This is going to be our new dentist. Look at their ratings! My wife and I were totally surprised by the professionalism and friendliness of Dr. Chung, the dental assistant who attended us, and the front office staff. The office was spotless. The latest Covid precautions were properly followed and the staff had advanced PPE equipment. The dental equipment was modern. What made this appointment standout for us though was the staffs conveying a genuine warmth and concern for our well being, Dental offices often seem like used car lots with their aggressive sales and marketing programs pushing additional services. Minus a few years (about 5), Dr. Chung has been my dentist since I was 19 (that's aging both of us, sorry). He was my daughter's first dentist and she was devastated when he sold his practice a few years ago. She begged and begged to go back to Dr. Chung. Tigard City Dental is great. Dr. Chung and his staff are awesome! I recently moved to the area and needed to find a new dentist fast. I was having an acute situation that needed to be dealt with right away. They got me right in, he quickly assessed the situation, thoroughly reviewed treatment options with me, and took his time to answer my questions and hear my concerns. He totally set me at ease and didn't rush me into any decisions. I needed to have a molar extracted, and a bone graft put in its place. It is 6 months later, and it has healed beautifully. We are now moving into implant phase/crown phase. I know I am in good hands. The added bonus is that he has a great personality. He is fun and funny. In addition, he is focused, patient, and kind. Kelly, one of the Hygienists, is great! I recently went in for my exam and cleaning. She gave me the best cleaning of my life. Torie, the Receptionist is upbeat and friendly. She is very helpful and knowledgeable about insurance plans. She knows what is covered and what will be out of pocket. After my exam, she had the insurance coverage/out-of-pocket estimates for my implant/crown ready and waiting for me, which was awesome. I've put off going to the dentist for several years because of some bad experiences with other dentists in the area. My husband suggested I purchase a groupon and at least get my teeth cleaned at Tigard City Dental PC. I was skeptical and very nervous about going. I am so thankful I did though. The experience was very pleasant and I actually enjoyed the exam and having my teeth cleaned. I suspected I was having an issue with one of my teeth and Dr Chung confirmed my suspicions. I have never experienced such a friendly staff and doctor. The cleaning by Lexie was very thorough and she is so personable and pleasant. I had to get a crown put back in place and needed to find a dentist. I called Tigard City Dental based on their Yelp reviews. I was as greeted on the phone by a very sweet women. She was able to get me an appointment pretty quick. I'm a not a huge fan of dentists, not sure anyone is, but they made me feel right at ease when I arrived. Everyone on the team is wonderful! Dr. Chung was so nice and explained everything. I had to have a couple shots, but honestly, it was fine. No pain!
