One for restrooms, one for the welcome center and one for vending services. The restrooms building has two sets of restrooms for each gender. One is closed for cleaning while one is open. The open one was very clean. The welcome center building was staffed with two employees eager to help you. It was very large and had four separate areas. Even though the buildings looked very new along with the concrete sidewalks, I surmise it has been recently reconstructed. The amount of parking spaces, especially for trucks, looks original and doesn't appear to have expanded.

Owner is very nice and very helpful, keeps the bathhouses, grounds and laundry room clean. I enjoy the pool during the warmer months and walking trails as well. We found that the town of Gafney has First Food Truck Friday downtown, and enjoyed walking around and eating some cool refreshments. We've stayed here about six times since and did a month long stay awaiting the birth of our grandson in May 2025.

After she applied my Passport America discount, my stay was $20 or so. I was pointed to a nearby back-in spot and as this is my very first overnight with the RV, I might have missed a few things. The space was level - no need to break out the leveling cubes. The power post was immediately near and I did not need an extension cord. I did not look for the water or sewer hookups. There was a firepit and a cute swing, neither of which I used tonight. They sell firewood in the office and a bunch of other stuff. There is also a fenced in dog park. They have a wifi, but it didn't reach to my parking spot. The restrooms were clean and there's a picnic area near the pool. We didn't experience a lot of activity other than from a spirit box. We heard some weird noises but didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Someone had dumped their trash at the site before we got there, but there were no signs of anyone else there. We did feel like we were being watched the entire time, though. If you visit at night it is a pretty sketchy looking area. Make sure you go with someone and protect yourself.

In the early 1800's a cotton gin was located at the top of the dam ( picture included) . It utilized Eli Whitney's cotton gin model. Cotton was king of all crops around here for a hundred years or so. With the outbreak of the Civil War, crops of large scale were abandoned. Below the dam with water wheel still in place was constructed an iron ore smelting furnace. It produced metal for confederate arms. After the war it was replaced by a cornmeal gin that used two large limestone stones to grind the corn into corn meal. I actually saw this in operation once as a small boy. After years of abandonment, only skeletal remains are left. Interesting and sad! Great local history!

Upon arrival, the owners offered to help back in my camper as it was my second time doing so. They offered to help me set up anything I needed help with. They were always friendly, and answered any of my questions without hesitation. This RV park definitely has a homey feel to it. I enjoyed the people around me as well, as all were very nice. They are also very pet friendly, as they LOVED my dog and cat. They were spoiled with love there. One time they brought someone to play live music, and grilled food for everyone at the campsite. Their laundry facilities and bathrooms are always super clean, and all is very spacious. When I was leaving, they also helped me to make sure I was hooked up properly. I am glad I came here for my first RV living experience, and now every other RV park I stay in will have to live up to these expectations. They also had amazing cell and wifi service which was a big plus, being away from home.

Bathroom is clean. The sites are large enough to spread out a little and pop-up a canopy tent and unpack a few chairs. Local gas station and convenience store is only about a mile a away. Larger food store is about 7 miles. Lake Lure is only 10 minutes away. Several state parks, equine center, restaurants, and vinyards/breweries are an easy drive too. Overall, we had a great time and as always we met some nice people at the site too.

Unlike rest areas back in Ohio, SC allows overnight parking in their rest areas and they provide a well lighted, safe parking area. Good selection of vending options and fear not - you don't need a pocket full of change, the vending machines accept crdit cards.
