I have been very dissatisfied with my experience dealing with this company. We had booked 2 vans and an SUV for our wedding guests. However, our wedding was cancelled when Pretty Place and Rhubarb had to cancel due to Helene damage. Despite a policy that states that if a booking needs to be cancelled due to weather, road conditions or uncontrollable conditions they will provide a refund, they now claim they can only reschedule us because we cancelled in advance. This is the only vendor to take this stance- we received at least partial refunds for every other vendor. Im considering small claims action. It's crazy to have provided no service and keep the money. Do not trust them to honor their policy. read more

Our group of eight designed a beer tasting tour using Van in Black as our transportation. Our driver Lily met us outside of their regular area ( pick up and drop off had a very reasonable fee) on time with a spacious and clean van. We could choose our own playlists from Spotify and Lily got us to our first destination right on time. Communication was excellent and we never had to wait for Lily to pick us up. Our entire day was delightfully timed and so fun, especially since none of us had to drive! Drop off was just as expedient and check out was a breeze. My estimate of costs was almost spot on. Booked this service for my cousin's bachelorette trip, we did the wine tour option. Rachel was super helpful in booking everything and helping me choose which wineries we were going to. Leon was our driver and he was PHENOMENAL. Our Airbnb was in a very remote gated community and he was very patient in waiting for us to come let him in the gate and even backed all the way up the driveway to get as close to the house as possible. During our drive he was very kind and attentive and genuinely went above and beyond to make our time the most enjoyable. Highly recommend! read more

NO OPTIONS TO RESCHEDULE Booked in Dec. 2023 for Oct 4, 2024. Had a family member plan a quick wedding for the weekend we were going to Asheville so I called to reschedule/ rebook on Sept 3, 2024 (1 month prior). They told me that we could reschedule, but we would lose the entire deposit ($360 which was the 4h wine tour). Even though we were still planning to use their service, they would not allow us to switch dates (even a month out) and we would have to full pay for the 4h tour over again. While an incredible business model for the owner to pocket our money and think we'll blindly book with them again, it is not a business I can recommend dealing with. There are more customer-friendly, empathetic, BETTER van services in the area. read more

We had the best experience with Sharon our driver. She was punctual and a fabulous driver! Our lives were safe knowing she was behind the wheel! She handled the roads up in black mountain like a boss! Sharon was super personable and kind. The limo bus was very clean and comfortable. They supplied water for us which was very thoughtful. Nate, who was new to the company, was attentive and very personable! What he lacked in actual experience, he made up for in diligent research! He arrived at our cabin, which was located on a rather steep and winding road with intermittent paving, promptly. He was a perfect gentleman, and he accommodated our requests with the utmost attention to detail. We would definitely recommend him and the wine tour! Ryan was right on time for our 10:30am departure from just outside of Charlotte. He was bringing us to some wineries near lake James. He had a hook up for us to play our music too! He got us there right as the first one opened. He had some great trivia about some areas on the way that made out trip fun. Ryan Surprised us and by taking pictures of us with his camera! I recently booked the Van in Black for a wine tour. Ryan, the owner went above and beyond accommodating our group. The Mercedes Van was clean and in very good condition. He responded in a very timely manner too all my inquiries. He comes prepared with a cooler with water, attachments for music. He is also very knowledgable about the various wineries in the area. An added bonus feature is the professional camera he has taking pictures along the stops for everyone to have and download for free off his website. A jacket and bracelet was left on the Van. Ryan went above and beyond to mail these back. Overall a great time and a great price. You will not be disappointed. I look forward to using the Van in Black again for other events. read more

Ryan took our bachelorette group of 7 on a winery tour and he was beyond amazing! He helped set out our timeline and which wineries to go to (all were amazing). You could tell he had a good relationship with these wineries, it certainly felt like we got the VIP treatment at each place! Ryan had a lot of great knowledge about the wineries which we all enjoyed. On top of everything else he is also a photographer and brought his professional camera and took pictures of the group all day (pictures turned out amazing!). At the end of the day we could not have asked for a better experience; Ryan was fun, kind, knowledgeable and professional and we had the most perfect day. I would highly recommend him! read more

Van in Black exceeded our expectations in every way. Ryan arrived early and had made our reservations ahead of time for the vineyards as we were a large group. He had music playlists at the ready, pillows and blankets in the van if we got chilly and waters (still AND sparkling) in a cooler. He even took pictures for us throughout the day, which were the best photos of the trip. I looked like a hero to my group for finding him. From the first communication via email to the drop off at the end of the day, Ryan was excellent. Great communication, excellent transportation, and a wealth of knowledge on the area and activities. Ryan recommended three fantastic wineries in the Tryon area that we thoroughly enjoyed. He let us play our music in the van and provided a waterfall side trip. We all especially appreciate the great photos he took of us at each spot. Not having to worry about driving when wine tasting is always of great comfort, and we never felt rushed by him.
