The instructors take the time to show you proper body mechanics so that you are engaging your mind and your body. This is more than just a work out it is holistic therapy, duh hence the name. I left feeling complete. There are late night classes which is great for the working stiff such as myself. And they are patient with newcomers such as myself hee hee hee. Teatime after yoga is also a plus. Breathing is so essential. And the philosophy, I learned your belly is your second brain & that it can be stronger than your first brain. Additionally, if you can control your core you can channel energy to other parts of your body... This class was phenomenal!!!!

While my experience in a class may be different from the average visit to the Shambhala Center, I did get to interact with the established members and followed the center's philosophy throughout the entire week (some of the practices that took place I won't describe because they are meant to be sacred). However, I can say that everyone that participated created a comfortable and intimate atmosphere that moved us all. Overall, the exercises focused on Dharma art, a Buddhist practice of creating and existing through your own nature--included a lot of meditation to free the mind. While the practices were derived from Buddhist teachings, I wouldn't say this was a religious retreat. Basically, the week was about being vulnerable and opening up to others in order to empower yourself. Something we all need once in a while.

There are a variety of classes throughout the day, ranging from boot camp to yoga. Your children are welcome to come with you. I've brought my kids and they watch a movie just a few feet away from me while I exercise (childcare isn't provided). The younger one can stay in the stroller and can be picked up or the stroller can be pushed around as needed. Everyone is so friendly. In addition to the classes, they have social events like salad in a jar (meal prep type) and play dates! It's a great little community!

I asked a friend to join me at Kadampa Meditiation Center, for there series Introduction to Buddhism. Parking was ample, you walk in and the people there were very welcoming. They gave me some info and a tour. I felt a sense of peace and calm when I walked into the room. I had never been to a Buddhist temple before but left feeling so much better. They have quick 30 min sessions during the week. I also noticed they allowed kids for meditation during certain times. This temple is very new and clean. I woke up and did 6am BURN at SWEAT for my first time with Dominic and I just love how he brought…read morehis motivational energy and dropped the best beats to get our class pumping. My lower back warmed up nicely with his bridge preps and the bootie and calf raises, raised the burn higher... by the time we side plank flipped and swam ... arms, spine, abs were feeling the fire ... then as we squatted and burpee flowed the flames grew strong through our legs! Dominic led Burn with charisma and challenging fun, every muscle energized, a trance like sweaty state that taps us into deeper limits, pushing us to our edge and then some...it was the best way to begin Friday at sunrise at SWEAT!

I'm very glad I listened because I am HOOKED on hot yoga and this studio has such a fantastic group of teachers and community. The hot room is fantastic. During your session they assess your skin and let you know what they are doing and using. It's so calming that I often find myself falling asleep by the end of it. They have private tubs you can reserve for an hour if that's more the vibe you are feeling, but you can also use the hot tub before or after your appointment to soak which is so relaxing. I do appreciate the touches of tea kettles and tea in the lounge area that are complimentary. They also have snacks and other things if you are there longer. Remedy is such a sweet serene spot right in the university area that you'd kinda forget where you are because it's so peaceful while experiencing it, and that's why I can't recommend Emily and Remedy enough.
