Arrogant, acting a fool, completely missing the point of the theme, and an awful and embarrassing representation of Loudoun County. They were belligerent, swearing, and acting a fool in front of young children. Way to go "parents." It makes me ill thinking of the lack of civic knowledge amongst these kids. Blatantly stomping on hard earned tax payer dollars with this once fabulous community resource. What an absolute shame. I will never go back and never take a class here either.

This is the club team league for Ashburn, VA. They run basketball teams for boys and girls from…read more3rd grade through high school and manage the travel teams for the local middle schools. They are fairly well organized and use the gym facilities of Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) through the county's Parks & Rec (PRCS) division, which creates a problem for the league: PRCS is routinely understaffed and LCPS has too few gyms for the ongoing demand from various leagues, travel teams and other clubs. This severely limits the gym time available to AYBL. In short, AYBL teams are scarcely coached (lucky to get your own gym for an hour a week) and it's typical for teams to have to share tiny auxiliary gyms with another team for a singular parctice weekly. Any inclement weather creates a knee-jerk reaction from the county to close facilities, further limiting value teaching time. HS teams actually get no practice time whatsoever as the league simply runs pick-up games on Sundays. There is some blame to be placed on the league (AYBL) here: though they claim to limit the amount of players that can register, it seems to never be enforced. There are far too many teams relative to the amount of gym space. This league will remain mediocre so long as this policy continues. Should they start limiting player numbers so that all teams can get some meaningful practice, then players might actually develop. For now, this is no more than a free for all.

Along Leslie Ave you see the Stadium as well as The Y across the street. There is a lovely petite garden between the two. One can grab a coffee on Monroe visit or visit the pharmacy, there is plenty to keep one busy.

The playground next to the splash pad is big, new, and accommodating to littler kids. The ground is that cushioned material so falls are less devastating. This park is also always very clean. Originally called "Hall's field", named after a Macville local who organized a local team that played in the Negro leagues. Then renamed Mercer field after a Virginia senator who was against slavery in the early 1800's, and then most recently renamed Mickey Gordon Park, after Mickey had coached Babe Ruth baseball there for 20 years. There is a popular quest to bring American Legion baseball to the park which would provide the American pastime to continue. The large ballfields has lights, bleachers and a concessions building behind the backstop.

There is a gravel parking lot, a picnic area right there and sports fields straight ahead. It looked like possibly homeless staying there in a van. No bathroom here. Nothing else that I could see. Same area just separated by a lot. Major mom win: there are bathrooms It's right across from Wegmans, has shaded tables (yes please), a water fountain, and easy parking in the garage across the street (first 2 hours are free ) Bonus surprise: on top of the parking garage there's another small play area--with water! My kids were living their best life up there. Everything is super colorful, clean, and just overall a really good time. I also noticed someone walking around every few minutes wiping down tables and checking trash, which I appreciate so much as a parent. Oooh and theres a mini workout area . Only tiny side-eye moment : I did see the same towel used on tables and then on the trash can... and not tossed after. So I'm hoping it's not making a full tour of tables, trash, and bathrooms Other than that, we had a great time and will definitely be back!

The area that features a lot of climbing, has some larger footholds and is probably best for the 5+ set unless your kiddo is younger but taller. My relatively small newly 4-year-old was not independently able to navigate this area. My 7 year old had no problem. The little spinner is fun too. The equipment (as stated) is modern and new, with neat touches like a solar panel cell phone charging station for adults. There is also a huge field and baseball diamond, and a pavilion with benches and a grill. My daughter loved it so much, she refused to leave. Which means a 5 star review even if it means exhaustion for the parent! As a bonus, there is an ice cream park that will stop by in the afternoon. I don't know the exact schedule but both times we visited they showed up.

The entrance was easy to spot from the street and there was plenty of parking. I noticed one of those solar phone chargers, a playground, and a big field. A bunch of kids were playing soccer. I spotted a pavilion with one long bench... that's why I settled to eat my food. It was quite relaxing -- and the food is a story for another time. The park seems a good size for a neighborhood park, but I didn't take too much time to walk around since I had just planned to leave after I ate. It was pretty chill, and I will definitely return if I'm in the area and the weather is nice.
