Enjoyed a great night out in CastleRock, at CastleRock under the stars. Brews were flowing music was rocking. Food was on point. This was my rookie year at this event. We got there late but still got a great spot to put our chairs to watch all the bands playing, front & center on the 3rd level. There were over 20 Colorado breweries pouring fantastic brews and several local food trucks. The bands were jamming all evening late into the night. It ended with a great Rock n Roll band and great pours from several breweries. Great area, atmosphere, space & vibes. read more

This park is pretty fantastic. I've been there twice to hike the Challenge Hill loop. The entire park looks to be very well maintained. There were tons of kids playing soccer on the fields. People on bikes were zooming around trails. There is what looks to be a nice zipline course. We went for the stair workout. Last time we were there we did 7 loops ... 7 times up the 200 stairs and 7 times down the trail. Each time I got to the 30th stair I caught myself muttering "oh dear Lord" to myself. So, yah, it's challenging. The stairs are marked every 10th stair and that was appreciated and even motivating. People were rooting each other on and friendly, in typical Colorado form. The trail down was not super technical but also not easy due to slippery gravel in places. I really appreciated the winding trail down to recover after the stairs. The bathrooms were clean. This park provides a really good workout. read more

Philip S. Miller Park has been my go-to park for doing some cardio. It's not running or jogging though: it's climbing up and down stairs. From my northeast DTC house, it's about 20 miles south on I-25. Easy access makes me motivated to go here as long as my schedule allows me to do so. I should say that I've been a frequent user of this park since 2018 (ish). This 300-acre park has pretty much everything for everyone to enjoy (I don't need to list all the amenities; just visit their website for more info, LOL!!!) Like I said at the beginning of this review, my favorite thing to do here is the "mini incline" (and its official name is "Challenge Hill" with 200 steps to climb.) 200 steps sounds not too bad but if you go fast, you'll be out of breath in 20 seconds. The elevation gain is only 178 feet but this mini incline is not for the faint of heart (in my opinion.) But the reward is the breathtaking view at the top. During the summer months, go here at/around 8pm. As long as the weather permits, you'll be able to catch a beautiful sunset; just a perfect place to conclude your day. Also, if you are not ready for the Manitou's Incline, then this would be a great place to start; get trained to be ready for the 2,700+ steps in Manitou. On a beautiful Thursday night on July 18, 2024 to be exact, there was a free concert at the amphitheater to the southwest part of the park. This park is well maintained. Families, friends, couples, solos, no matter the size of your group and occasion, you can safely enjoy the great outdoors in this family-oriented city of Castle Rock. I simply cannot get enough of this park!! read more

The venue is great. Box seats have patio settings (chairs, tables, hightops) and offer drink service. GA.....BYOC (bring your own chair). Pros: *With the setting being outdoors, concert goers get a fabulous dose of fresh air natch! *The view! Whether of the concert itself or of the surrounding natural elements, it is beautiful. It is like a mini RedRocks (totally there are a couple too!) *The acoustics are wonderful! The sound was clear, the music wonderfully loud and the vocals equalized perfectly. *Restroom Trailer Port-a-Potties! Need i say more? Cons: *No umbrellas, food or drink. They will search bags so be careful. *The lines at the food trucks were horrendous. One hour wait for a $15 taco meal sans bevvies. *Parking! It's one way in, one way out so arrive early! My suggestions: *Bring a blanket or hoodie for cool weather (the sun goes down and it does get a bit chilly). *Consider ponchos because this is Colorado. *Ladies....leave the heels at home. It is a park so lots of grass and natural ground cover (aka dirt). *Town of Castle Rock...how about more food trucks? Or Food trucks with experience at feeding the masses. My friend rented the Millhouse for her husband's birthday party. It's such a lovely venue. The air conditioning worked well so we were cool in the hot weather. Restrooms attached and there's also a water fountain and coat rack. Wheelchair accessible and the caterers could drive up to unload. We also could load after we packed up. The view is pretty and the pond next to it so relaxing. Drawback is that people are not respectful and ignored the private party sign and came in to fill up water bottles. Our personal items were left in the outer room so that was uncomfortable. The projector system worked well for showing the slide show but taller people need to be careful as if your slide show fills the screen, the projector screen could be a head bump hazard. The kitchenette was convenient for the caterer and guests to wash off cake knives and such. Patio seating is available should your guests like to wander outside. And there is signage to show the way to the Millhouse along the drive up. read more

This park is awesome. There are multiple playsets for the kids and an adult obstacle course. The 200 step incline is a good challenge (I did it under 2 minutes, but then had to recover for a while, ha) and, if you take your time, it's a great warm-up. I enjoyed it a lot and the kids asked to go back the next day. At the too of the incline, you get a good view that includes the castle rock itself. We will have to check out the splash oad in the summer. There is more if you are willing to pay: two large adventure structures and ziplining. read more

This appears to be a great park close to Denver and The Springs. Plus it's less than a mile off I-25. So you don't have to drive far off the highway to get to it. I came to this park to go on the mini incline of 200 steps. The steps are in great condition and then there is a short trail that brings you back down. They were a perfect practice spot for the Manitou Incline. Though I didn't use any other aspect of the park, it seems to have a good trail system and a playground for kids that looked really nice. It reminded me of a little ninja warrior type course (at least in comparison to regular playgrounds). There was a cargo net to climb, wall to scale with ropes. I will definitely return to this park and take advantage of having this 25 minutes from my house! read more

Frequently visit here! There's so much to do. We love the splash park in the summer. I like doing a few laps around the park for exercise, there a great pond near the amphitheater that you can spot frogs and fish in. My daughter loves the sand. Lots of kids for her to make friends with. It can get very crowded with events like weddings, family reunions, and parks. read more

I mean it must have a lot going on for being 320 acres right? ++ Located in Castle Rock; it's not a far drive from the Metro-Denver area. ++ Its relatively new (or at least newly renovated). ++ It's home to the Epic Sky Trek and Colorado Zip Line Tours. Not to mention tons of freebies including a couple play areas and tons of trails!! ++ There's a Mini Incline. If you go up it THIRTEEN times it is the equivalent to the Manitou Incline. You know... If you're into that sort of thing. I highly recommend if you're looking for a new, not too far from Denver, park to check out head down to Castle Rock and check out the Philip S Miller Park. This park is so awesome!! There is a plethora of equipment kids of different ages can climb and play. I even went up a few of them; like the rope one you can climb up to the top. There is also zipline, soccer field and a pole you can climb up to the ring the bell. The kids tried but no luck! Just like gym class back in the day. Also there's a big slide you can go down which is a lot of fun! I even went down it a few times. A rope crawl or army crawl play structure. And a huge disc you can lay on which is like a swing but you lay on it. It was so fun going to this park and was not what I was expecting!! I guess I shouldn't be surprised that the park-goers in Castle Rock are not down to wear masks or abide by general COVID restrictions. Most of us know went down in Castle Rock over Mother's Day weekend (not naming names here) when the Colorado curve hadn't yet flattened. It's a bummer because there is a great "mini incline" in the park, about 1/10 of what the big incline is like in Manitou. I went up 2x without taking more than a second or two to catch my breath and was ready for another go of it, until it got crowded and no one was wearing a mask. Didn't seem worth the risk. Note that I got there around 7:30 am and by 8:30 it was busy! Also within this park is a publicly accessible crossfit workout area, complete with ropes and weights. There was a sign that said this was closed off, but the trainers and adults working out clearly weren't heeding the decree. In addition, there's a very nice soccer field, giant slide for kids, and a paved sidewalk around for getting in some cardio. With the exception of myself, my husband, and a few other folks no one was washing their hands or wearing a mask. Granted, you're outside and it's less dangerous (supposedly). It's a little disappointing seeing people not caring about their own health or the health of others. But rather than tell people off, I left. read more

First they have a mini incline that has exactly 200 steps and a great view of Castle Rock from the top. There's also an area with outdoor workout equipment, a soccer field and walking paths. Went here for the first time yesterday. It was nice. Lots of trails and whatnot. Also the mini incline was still pretty intense for only being 200 steps. There's also zip lining for a decent price. This is the absolute best "family" park in Castle Rock Colorado. Outside they have great trails for hiking and biking, playgrounds, a soccer field, zip lining, lots of space and picnic areas. Inside they have another playground, indoor soccer, a trampoline park and an inoor swimming area complete with waterside.You could keep the family busy here for hours! You do have to pay access the indoor facilities but it's a good value considering all the things you can do unlimited until 9pm when they close. The staff is friendly and they do a good job keeping the place clean and well organized. This park is definately a Colorado gem for people with kids. read more

All I can say is you have to come to this place if you are in Castle Rock, Denver, Colorado Springs, or anywhere near! It is so full of activities it could be a vacation of its own! They have the really cool climbing stairs that look like something out of a fantasy book or fairytale. The view is amazing. They have benches all around the park to stop and enjoy a view and they glide! How cool is that! It is a playground fit for adults and kids alike! This is a pretty badass park. Not only does it have a jungle gym but there are a bunch of different play things for kids to go on. Giant rope apparatus, splash pad, slides, swings, and an adventure park. The adventure park is separate and costs money, but there are also trails that you can explore on and a giant field turf soccer field to do a ton of sporting activities. Very impressive. Next time I go, I'll probably go without my kids so I can get a workout in while there. The place is a little hard to find, I went to google and typed in parks near me and decided to check it out. Amazing. Worth the drive up from the USAFA. There is something for every family member. Trails: paved and dirt, playgrounds, swings, obstacle course, fitness equipment, turf, field, shady trees, benches, tables, pavilions and the 200 step stairway. And that was only half the park. We didn't venture over to the amphitheater and splash pad area. There is also indoor activities that are currently closed (COVID-19). Lots of parking. And fun to just watch the zip lining adventures. Then a shave ice truck showed up. So fun. read more

The kids sure do enjoy it. The problems I have are the staff not explaining the break down of costs between the trampoline area and the play area. The receptionist was very sweet but was not clear on cost. By the time we figured out we weren't paid for trampolines our time was dwindling. No one really seemed to care so I decided to let them just play in the play area to save some play time. As the other alternative was to pay again and then have to go somewhere else to get a refund... really? The adults have to pay $6 to cross the counter... literally no distance from where the under 8's play as apposed to sitting at the table where they can still see the kids play FOR FREE...sounds greedy to me. I've attached a picture to show left side of the counter, free, right side of the counter, $6. Lastly, when I expressed my concerns to Brandy I felt like I wasn't heard and told that the young gal at the counter is one of their best employees which I'm sure she is, I wasn't criticizing the receptionist I was criticizing the information that was given. It was insinuated that she must have offered me both play options... the customer was clearly not right or even amused to believe I was. But Brandy did assure me that she would give me a pamphlet so that the options were clear to me in the future And then... she never did. I found Brandy very condescending and rude. When I left she put on a big fake smile and said. " Bye! Have a nice day." Lol I get it ... Not good business. Lastly, it's no wonder the people accompanying the young ones should be close because they let giant 13, 14, 15 year olds run, jump and trample the little ones but I still think that it should be free to keep a close watch on your child and not cost adults $6 to sit literally on the other side of the counter!!! My all time favorite park! It is totally worth a half an hour drive to get some exercise, play and have a picnic! The mini incline with 200 steps is just perfect to do three or four times to get in a great work out, with an easy hike down. The playground area has some challenging, fun things for kids. This place has something for everyone. You could easily spend a day here. There is an indoor playground, pool and trampoline park. Outside, you can hike, climb some stairs, play on multiple play structures for younger and older kids. I like that some parts of the playground didn't have any wood chips which is good for our son who loves to stim on them. For a cost, they have a huge obstacle course and zip line feature. We didn't do the zip line, but it went really far and looked super cool. This park has outhouses and picnic tables too. read more

There are so many activities here from mountain biking trails to a splash pad as well as a playground with an amazingly long slide for kids. It has a turf soccer field, and even a 200 stair incline up the side of the hill. You can buy an entry to the indoor pool, a zip line tour, or even a try at the American Ninja Warrior-style obstacle course! There is plenty of free parking as well as picnic areas where you can have a picnic in the middle of exhausting your kiddos. Its hard to believe that all of this is a fairly short ride from Denver. Particularly, I use the incline after work as often as possible. Noted on the sign before the trail and the stairs clearly states that NO DOGS are allowed on this part of the MAC for safety purposes, yet so many people choose to be ignorant. This area may seem safe, but for those who use the stairs as a work out and not just a one time challenge, dogs are simply in the way. Please don't be rude :) read more

A: A bunch of stuff all in one including the following free activities: a mini manitou incline called "Challenge Hill" compromised of 200 steps (this was fun and short), over 7 miles of trails (some paved, some rocks). a huge adventure playground that has components for ALL ages. It included a 40 foot slide, a large sand box, a large xylophone, a really cool 4 person teeter-totter, a giant spider web/ rope course and other unique play equipment. For charge there is a zip line, and epic adventure tower (a giant really big kid/adult climbing wall and obstacle course). There is also an amphitheater, soccer field and giant rec center. My son loved this park and I imagine he would enjoy it for about 9 more years at least. I brought my 17 month old son here this week. We packed a lunch and spent 2.5 hours here. We honestly could have spent longer, easily, if it were not the need for a nap. The playground is just so unique with so much fun stuff to explore. I love that the park is spread out with a weaving paved trail to connect it all. We had so much fun checking out each area. The 40 foot slide is really neat; I saw lots of kids and adults enjoying it. Walking up the steep slope to the slide's base was a challenge for my son. After playing at the park, we walked the steps to the incline. There were lots of people (but not too many) doing laps on the challege steps. They were well built and much less worn down than the actual Manitou incline. What a cool addition! You can wind down a trail back to the base or just take the stairs down. Benches at the top. Why no good for dogs you ask? They are not allowed on the incline. Many fearful parents and kids at the park and just not a good place to tie up the dog because the playgrounds are so spread out. read more

***Lost Toyota Key*** I lost my Toyota truck key yesterday evening (May 1st) while riding this wonderful trail system w/ my daughter. We started at the amphitheater p-lot and rode clockwise on the gold loop single track and transitioned to red loop. We made it up just over a mile at the trail's most southern portion until it starts to get quite steep, and then we turned around and then transitioned to the Red-Blue connector riding counter-clockwise back to the p-lot. It's somewhere off the single track but nearby in the brush. Was in my shorts pocket. Would greatly appreciate any help and will frequently check back on here for any finds! This park is huge! I went to try out the Mini Incline (a smaller version of the Incline at Manitou Springs), but there is so much more here! Let's start with the mini incline: The incline is 200 steps (about 20 flights of stairs) and starts gradual, but gets steeper about 40 or so steps up. The day I went it was incredibly windy, but I made it to the top. At the top you can see all of Castle Rock, and the view is just gorgeous! When at the top, take a seat in the Adirondack chair, and enjoy life! This park also has an indoor rec center, Zip lines, an Amphitheater and lots of trails around. I will definitely go back again and do the incline some more. It is a great workout! read more

WHAT AN AWESOME PARK! We try and seek out every park we can find, and have grown accustomed to some pretty awesome play places for the family. Wow, this place is just top notch. The play areas outside, the indoor playground, pool, soccer fields, trampoline park etc. Just a great family experience and fun for all. Go explore on a nice day outside, and you're going to love the little turn by turn surprises. Indoor, the only funky thing is that parents have to pay for themselves just to sit somewhat nearby their kids in the play area. An odd concept that was kind of a drag with two of us there (i.e. one needed to pay, and the other one could sit all by their lonesome, or pay a second parent fee to sit near parent one). A bit silly. BUT, who cares. Kids and parents alike love this park, and you will too. Totally worth the drive if you are not directly in the area. read more

Great place. Don't be confused by the overprotective parent reviews. Every child I have met loves this place. Some parents don't love it because they feel paying extra for the trampoline makes no sense. To me it makes perfect sense that can be summarized by two words...liability insurance. My kids love the trampoline and I love the sleepiness inducing qualities (well worth the investment!), but if they just want to swim or play in the play area then I'm not paying for something they do not use. My kids have literally spent the entire day in the pool there. There is no price tag for them or their parents. Clearly win, win, win. I do agree the teenage staff at the pool is less than perfect but they will listen when approached. Also the front needs turnstiles to boast exit security and discourage those who decide they don't need to pay and raise the overall cost for those that do. Pricing is simple economies of scale. If you are coming more than once, get a punch card. If you are coming more than that, get a family pass. All the outside activities net of the Zip line and Adventure tower are free. read more

I had such high hopes for this place, it seemed like it would be so awesome and I was terribly disappointed. The complex seems massive from the outside but once you get inside you're wondering how it looks so big when there is absolutely nothing there. You walk in the front door and you can see the kids play area, the indoor field and the trampoline area ... and that's it (with the exception of the pool). The kids play area seems like it would be pretty amazing for a kid and there were so many kids playing there. I have a 14 month old and he was too little for the main play area so we played in the "babies only" area. There is a small log to crawl through and a little slide with an area to climb up and that's it. He's a 1 yr old so he's not hard to please, but even this dinky play area got boring quickly for him. Also, there were mostly older kids playing in the baby area. I guess the big play area was too boring so they were running around like crazy in the area for kids so plan on your kid getting run over the whole time. The trampoline area seems cool, but you have to pay extra to use it and when you've already paid to be bored in the first 8 minutes of arriving it hardly seems worth it. The pool area looked nice, we didn't go swimming but the slide looked really fun. And they had a large kid area of the pool with a water table in the middle and a slide on the side. Compared to the old rec center in castle rock I'd say the one at the MAC isn't nearly as cool. I think the only purpose of the MAC was to entertain kids up to like age 12. As an adult there was nothing there for me except a pool which wasn't that great anyways. I thought there was a gym at least, but no. I would save your money and go to a park or use the old rec center, it's WAY better. read more
