However once those scans were complete I waited on a bed in the ER hallway for over 10 hours. There were patients coming in well after me for less crucial things being given priority which was extremely frustrating to observe. For a night shift ER I was very dissatisfied with the level of care and lack of quality I was given after my Initial intake. Will definitely be remaining a Valley hospital client after this experience.

Urgent Concern About ER Experience at HMH Hackensack University Medical Center…read more We moved to the United States just 5 months ago, and our daughter was born here. Since we were still learning how the healthcare system works, I carefully researched and chose HMH Hackensack University Medical Center, Pediatric Center, Emergency Room, based on numerous positive reviews. When our daughter was only 2 weeks old, we made the urgent decision to bring her to the ER because her unconjugated bilirubin level was above normal. Our request was very clear -- we needed a blood test to confirm whether treatment was necessary. Unfortunately, our visit turned into a frustrating and deeply disappointing experience. We were seen by Dr. Avital Bauman, MD, who, instead of immediately focusing on our newborn's condition, spent a significant amount of time on unrelated "paperwork" -- questioning why we didn't yet have a pediatrician and calling social workers to explain the U.S. healthcare system to us. The social workers, in turn, did not address the main reason for our visit. Instead, they accused us of supposedly not taking proper care of our baby's health. Yes, perhaps we did not follow the exact steps of the U.S. healthcare system, but in this situation, the child's health should have been the first priority. The correct sequence of actions should have been: examine the baby first, then explain the administrative process afterward. Because of these delays, more than two hours passed before any medical testing was even offered. For us, as parents of a two-week-old newborn, this was extremely stressful and unacceptable. We traveled all the way from West New York to this hospital with one goal -- to make sure our baby was healthy. In the end, we left the hospital without any meaningful results, only with disappointment and concern. This experience left us feeling that bureaucracy was placed above patient care, which should never happen -- especially when it involves the health and safety of a newborn. I believe this matter deserves serious attention from hospital administration to ensure that no other family faces a similar situation.

In the last days that I spent at Bayshore Hackensack Meridian Hospital supporting the person I've known and loved for nearly twenty-seven years, I must praise and honor the very high quality of care that they provided. The entire staff of both doctors and nurses were all professional, kind, caring, sensitive and attentive every step of the way. I was kept well informed of what was happening. The one specific nurse assigned to his care, Jasmine, deserves a special acknowledgment for her vigilant watchful eye. Her expressions of empathy and kind words were so helpful to me in moments that were difficult. And when "Advocate Counselors" and "Hospice" became necessary, their level of guidance was unprecedented! They walked me through each process I needed to take and did so with a caring and sympathetic ear. I was made to feel as if I was amongst family. For ALL of this, I am forever grateful. To all those who are part of the Bayshore Hackensack Meridian Hospital Family - Thank you for your gallant efforts put forth each and every day in your efforts to save lives!

Bayshore MERIDIANs health care is the sadest medical system going.
