Phillipe's is a fantastic store whether you are a novice wine drinker or have honed your pallet for years. All of the staff know their products and can give you good recommendations based on other things you liked. If you have a budget, their recommendations stay firmly within it; they do not try to upsell you to the next price level. They have a decent selection of craft beers and spirits. They also have a terrific selection of French cheeses tucked away in the back of the store in the coolers. Need wine? Look no further! Loved going into this place everytime to "find" a bottle! To be honest I never actually found anything my self. I would always ask one of the friendly helpful family. To be honest that's about the only way you can do it I never could make head nor tail of the set up! I can't say I ever had a bad recommendation from these guys! All you need to do is state what varietal/profile/meal you chasing and a rough price range and they will set you up! They even have Spanish Fino and Polish "Grasovka" [vodka] too! I went into the store trying to locate a bottle of Bougrier 'V' Vouvray, but unfortunately they didn't carry the bottle I requested. However, they did offer other selections that were very delicious. The customer service in Phillipe's is PHENOMENAL and this is a wine cellar that I will continue to visit everytime I need a great glass of wine. They also had a very hard to find Brazilian rum called Cachaça and the gentleman assisting me knew exactly what I was asking for before I could even finish my sentence. If you are ever in need of a great advice, recommendation for wine or spirits then this is the place for you. Awesome!!! Not only do they have a huge wine selection from all over the world with weekly wine tasting, the have have the ability to get most American small micro brews and specialty spirits. They also have a great selection of dried meets and real cheeses. The staff is great and friendly and if they don't know an answer they won't BS you. They go and find out the answer for you. The prices are very good. It's a small bit of worldly sanity in the vacuum of consumerism. read more

For years this has been my go to place to find new beers that are not in the Texas market. I walked in and the beer selection is really picked over. They don't seem to be getting good new beers, or fresh IPA's anymore. Found one bottled in January, another in June. I am not sure if the beer guy still works here, normally he comes out to chat and see if he can get anything for me. Though maybe it is just bad timing. Anyway, the wine and spirits selection seems the same, but almost nothing but your regular beer selection anymore. That is a shame, I will give it a few more tries because they might be just restocking. Though my last few visits have been disappointing. read more

Always have a positive experience here. Always very helpful in helping me select something even when I don't know what I'm looking for. Not in it for the money, honestly want you to have the best experience possible! They have shown me $100 bottles and $10 bottles and sometimes recommended the more expensive and sometimes the cheaper one. Visited this wine store this saturday and I was impressed with their large selection. I am a fan of dessert wine(stickies) and I found they had probably two dozen or more in stock. The other wines are all covered in their large inventory. The prices are in line or even cheaper than my online options. Their management and salesstaff are very knowledgable and helpful.
