Longer version - Absolutely do not recommend this dentist. TERRIBLE experience. I took 5 members of my family here, after our dental practice of over 10 years changed insurance carriers. We were religious about going 2 times a year and were very consistent and had no issues. Immediately these folks tried upselling us on advanced cleanings because we were all diseased, and selling us on Invisalign plans. These advanced cleaning treatments were about $150 per visit and would require multiple visits. After our first visit, spending close to THREE HOURS there, we left, and most of us did not even have a cleaning performed! It was entirely a sales pitch the whole time. Then, I called back to cancel and get a refund because I paid in advance for 3 cleanings for myself. They refused to refund me my money because 'insurance was still processing' and now close to 2 months later I STILL have not been refunded. I don't expect to get even half of my money back. One of my sons needed a cleaning before he leaves the state, so we actually came back for a one-time normal cleaning and they gave him one of the advanced cleanings. This was never made clear or disclosed to me. When I complained about it, they said we had signed a contract, I asked them for a copy, and they could not give me a copy because WE NEVER SIGNED one. The office manager claimed that my wife verbally committed to the advanced cleaning plans, when I know she would not have done that because my son physically won't be here in the state to get the cleanings done.

Each time I called, I was told that the records would be sent to me before 5:00 PM that same day. Despite these repeated assurances, I did not receive them in a timely manner. When I finally received what I believed would be my records, the information sent was incomplete and not what I had requested. After calling again and demanding my actual records, I was then informed that my insurance did not cover the full cost of my visit. I would like to point out that during my visit, the only services performed were photographs and X-rays. No cleaning or fillings were done. In fact, the technician specifically told me that I would be receiving a cleaning, but that never happened. This entire experience has left me feeling that patient care is not a priority at your office. Instead, it appears that the focus is more on billing and maximizing insurance charges than on providing proper service and communication to patients. I expect a prompt response regarding my records request!

But Dr. Patel's office is about as good as it gets when looking for a dentist. They have a newly remodeled office and brand new dentist chairs and equipment. Both times I've visited, the dental assistants couldn't have been friendlier. These ladies didn't condescend to my less-than-stellar brushing habits. They both had 20+ years experience in that office. On my latest visit, one of them checked my insurance coverage to see what exams I could get. Dr. Patel is young-ish and very friendly as well. I was in and out within on hour both times, always a plus. I don't like getting my teeth scraped more than anyone else, but this dentist's office will give you something to smile about! Apparently, the "roving project manager" serves Dr. Matthews' Waverly Office as well. He told me Dr. Matthews was a great dentist. Really? What experience or role does a "roving project manager" (and I do have experience as a Project Manager), have to do with being argumentative with a new patient about her experience with another dentist & dental company? After he scolded me repeatedly, I stated I wasn't comfortable being a patient there & left. I did not know or remember the "roving project manager" name. Since, I didn't want to have them ever work on my teeth, I asked him would I be charged for the x-ray of the teeth the bridge covered & he said no. After, I left I realized I wanted to get his name, in case they did charge me, I'd know who to contact. Friendly's staff, to include the Manager, wouldn't give me his name. I asked them to ask him to provide it to me. Crickets... Never heard back from him. Yea, perhaps they should add Trustful, & Ethical to Friendly. RUN from both Friendly & Waverly Dental. I now have a great dentist. I'm going to the NC State Board of Dentist to make a formal complaint at https://www.ncdentalboard.org/contact.htm against Waverly.

A new dentist (I believe this was her first job after school) did the procedure. I ended up with my mouth being numb for more than 24 hours and 2 days later had intense pain and facial swelling. The practice admitted the fill in was in too deep but insisted I needed a root canal after failed antibiotic and steroid treatment. I asked to speak to the provider who owned the practice-Dr. Jones and was completely dismissed. There was no ownership to the damage that was done. No one offered to redo the fill in that was done incorrectly. I had a consult with an endodontist who confirmed I did not need a root canal and the error was in the fill in. All I wanted to do was speak to the provider who owned the practice-Dr. Jones, express my concerns and discuss a plan to fix my issue. I was completely dismissed and the provider would not speak with me. As a healthcare worker with over 25 years of experience, this was not customer service. This was not ownership to a wrong. This was rude and insulting. To date, I am still dealing with this issue and trying to get this resolved. I am now being told that I have completely maxed out my insurance in June and would now have to pay out of pocket. This indicates that Trinity billed incorrectly and took the entire annual plan benefit!!! Honestly this has been exhausting, unfair and completely unnecessary.

They were laughing and having a great time. The other receptionist helped me with all my paperwork and I was quickly escorted back. Dr. Jones not only looked over my teeth x-rays but conducted a neck exam since some dental pain and start in the neck area as she explained. They offer a variety of complimentary treatment for patients which is greatly appreciate in today's financial climate. I highly recommend her to everyone in the area.
