My family has used this facility for the passing of 3 different family members in the last 10 years. Every person that we dealt with was kind and patient, offered care and direction every step of the way. From the care of the deceased, the help setting up for the viewing, moving the flowers to the burial site, the staff was wonderful and helpful and kind. The funeral home itself is a it dated, but in the way that feels like home, comfortable, cozy, like grandma's house. There were several conveniently located bathrooms near the main viewing rooms and a kitchenette/coffee & cake room up a short flight of stairs for snacks and drinks and taking a breather from the greeting of the visits. Sadly Grandpa's passing marks the last of the family that will use the services of Phillips-Robinson. But only because we don't have any more family in Nashville. This feels strange to leave a review for a Funeral Home, but here goes. We don't live in Nashville and found ourselves in need of a Funeral Home a friend referred us to Phillip's-Robinson from the first call Adam made the process as easy as this horrific experience could be. Even the problem with the Dr not signing the death certificate in a timely fashion was communicated to us so that we also could call her and remind her it still needed to be done. This is a difficult time for any family but Phillips-Robinson funeral home made the process as easy as possible. My Dad was cremated and they provided Death certs and even faxed one to the VA for me. At age 40, I have now planned 3 funerals (for my brother, for my dad, and for my mother). They all passed at different times. My brother was gone too soon at age 41. We had his memorial 6 years ago at Highland Hills. At that time, Mr. Bobby Reed was the director and we received exceptional service and care at that time. My dad then passed away January of this year, and we went back to Highland Hills. Mr. Reed had retired and we worked with George Baker. The staff at Highland were great but Mr. Baker had snapped at me during a conversation which was not appreciated. I confronted him about it and he apologized but with one of those apologies that really doesn't feel like one. My dad's service went fine and again, the staff were very accommodating and kind. Then my mother passed away 2 weeks later, and I knew I did not want to work with Mr. Baker again. I'm so grateful I found Phillips Robinson. It wasn't 100% perfect for our needs, but Matt Terry was thorough, kind, understanding, and I feel went above-beyond for us. He made this experience as smooth as possible. Our loved one was cremated today with Adam serving as our funeral director. We were told that if we arrived by 8:30, we would be allowed some time with our loved one before the cremation began. We arrived at 8am, and were promptly told that we could not have time with our loved one, but could only look at him through the window. We asked if he could be brought into the viewing room for no more than five minutes so that we could say our goodbyes, again he said no he could not. We asked "you can't or you won't?", to which he replied, "I won't". He then told us that he would not move him because "moving the bed is difficult and would be an inconvenience". You can imagine that we were upset, and Adam told us that his "boss is a judge" and that if we didn't like what he had to say we could take our things and leave. At this point, we had no choice but to acquiesce to what he was telling us. They began the cremation process at 8:30 instead of 9 so we had only about 10 minutes to look at our loved one before he was cremated. Once the process began, our loved one was roughly shoved into the incinerator without warning and without any fanfare and with a noticeable lack of gentleness. It was jarring, and not the way that we wanted to remember our last moments with him. There was so much callousness and rudeness that we fully regret choosing this funeral home. read more

How can we begin to show our thanks to this business. They took our son into their care and handled the entire funeral service for us. When you have lost a loved one, especially a young man, your mind is blurry, your heart aches and the list goes on. The last thing you are thinking of, or even want to attempt to process is planning a service in rememberance of the person that is gone. Rachel is very kind, well informed and if there is a question she cannot answer, she will gladly seek it out. They did an amazing job with the last time we were to see our son, I would recommend this home as true professionals and you can rest easy with confidence in whom you are placing your loved ones final care.
