Not impressed. This is the hotdog cart of Cheese Steak. Not enough seasoning and the sandwich makes the extra soft bread they use soggy so eat quickly. I am used to the type of juice that comes from the fat of fresh cooked steak. This steak taste like its from a warmer. No char on the steak or onions and the liquid is watery. You can definitely find a better cheese steak in DC. I ordered mine with onion, steak, and mayo only. Pass on this food option when on DC there are much better selection. read more

Absolutely nothing to complain about. The guy working was upset sweet and willing to accommodate any requests. It was quick and good with no frills. Steak was seasoned nicely and the provolone and Mayo was nice with the tomato and lettuce mix. read more

Pretty solid food truck. I appreciated the use of cheesewiz and the seasoning on the fries. I actually really loved the fries. I have to mention that my food was nice and hot from the time I received my order,walked back to my training class and decided to eat about 10 minutes later. That let me know my food was freshly made! Even the fries. For $10 bucks you get a good portion. I stuffed my face until I couldn't anymore and still had about half left. Next time I would forgo the lettuce on my sub being the food was so hot my lettuce did become a little wilted. The sub was nice and juicy and the bun did a good job of holding it all together. My only criticism for this place would be the lack of seasoning of the meat. This was something that almost could not go overlooked. I didn't get hot peppers, not sure if they have them or not, but this probably would've gave it the kick I was looking for hence the lack of seasoning. Still a great sub!!! read more

I wish I could give 3.5 stars - I enjoyed my chicken philly cheesesteak that had mushrooms, onions, peppers and cheese on it - but wish it had more cheese. They really like their pepper there too, the chickien was very peppery as were the french fries. I would definitely eat it again, but am likely to try other places in the east coast area as well. read more

Today, Philly Mike's Steaks was literally the only food truck outside my office, so I gave them a try. Overall...I'll say 2.5 stars. I got the cheesesteak, hold the mayo. The meat didn't have a ton of flavor - it definitely needed seasoning. But, on the positive side, there was a lot of it, and overall, the sandwich was very filling (I ate about 3/4 of it). It was stuffed with lettuce, had a decent amount of cheese. I wished there had been a few more tomatoes. I liked the caramelized onions, no issues there. The bread was ok, nothing special there. For $7, it was a lot of food (I didn't get the combo, just the sandwich) but nothing really wowed. It was filling though. We ordered the Southwest Chicken sub sandwich and it was delicious, especially since I'm a fan of buffalo sauce which has plenty of it on this sandwich. For an extra two bucks (totaling 9.99) you can add fries and a drink to your foot-long sandwich. And you'll want to do that because the fries are seasoned and extra crispy. They accept credit cards, which is cool. But just remind them that you didn't get your pop; they kept forgetting to give people their drinks, including myself. read more

I tried Philly Mike's Steak on one of my recent Food Truck adventures. I am surprised there are not more cheesesteak or steak and cheese whichever you want to call it food trucks out there, I feel like it is a product people want and lends itself to be served out of the back of a truck. Philly's Mike is a welcome addition to the steak and cheese food truck industry and while their product isn't great, it is still good. The prices are good, for 7 dollars you get a decent sized sandwich. I ordered the Mike's Special which is an extra dollar. Sandwich was good, steak was quality and plentiful. Flavor was okay but not especially good, bread was fresh as was the produce. Sandwich was a bit too greasy for my taste but that is expected. Decent food truck option and I could see myself returning if their in my area, special trips aren't a must but I'd at least cross a street to give them another shot. read more

So I read the reviews and I was not sure I would try it but I didn't see any food trucks that excited me o I decided to give it a go. I must have caught them on a good day or ordered the right Sandwich as I was pleasantly surprised. I order the Pizza Steak and it was fine. I saw the "beef" and it wasn't dry (could be the marinara) :) The fries were well seasoned with old bay and even after a 7-8 minute walk to my office the fries were not soggy. So they have stepped up their game or I caught them on a good day. Either way for $10 with drink and fries I was plenty satisfied. I would definitely try it again but to be safe I'll eat the pizza steak again. Not feeling "frisky" and not desiring an experience like some of the others. There was Philly Mikes Steaks Food truck! I ordered the $8 Philly Steak with Fries and a drink for $9.99. I was surprised how good it was and how much they give you! The steak was full of meat, and it had lots of really good fries seasoned with old bay. Good stuff! I cant think of a single thing wrong (including the price) so I give it 5 stars! Im guessing the Philly Steak trucks alternate locations to cut down on competition (I usually see the other philly truck thats yellow outside) so I'll be sure to try the competition next time I see it outside and compare. read more

3.5 stars! Decided to give this truck a try since nothing else really seemed appealing. It's was parked in the Capitol Hill cluster and had a pretty good amount of people ordering. For $10 I got a sub, fries, and a drink. The fries were seasoned well but pretty mushy which I don't like- if I wanted my potatoes mashed I would just get mashed potatoes. The meat was a little dry for my taste but the bread was awesome and the veggies were fresh. There's several kinds of cheese available and a lot of toppings. For what it is (a truck some guys sling meat around in when they park on the side of the road) it's pretty good! I'll most likely come here again! read more
