I know very little about computers and bought a very old laptop to get windows 7. This is the latest windows program that will "talk to" my embroidery sewing machine. Phil figured out how my 2006 sewing machine and the computer work together to download embroidery patterns for my sewing machine to embroidery. This one goes out to Phil and it's been a long time coming. I hope everyone reads this review because I wasn't able to find a place to post a review when business comes from craigslist. Finally making this review. He doesn't even deserve a one star. This guy picked up my 27 inch Mac and my older MacBook Pro so he could update the operating systems. He pulls up in a crappy extremely unprofessional car and puts it facedown in the trunk on a blanket. That should've been my first red flag right there because I have the original box but he said he didn't want to use it. after working on it, he brought it back and things still weren't right so he took it again. Then when he couldn't get the Bluetooth mouse to connect with out a mouse at my home that was not Bluetooth he asked me if I wanted to go to Walmart with him to get one. (Seriously why doesn't he travel with a mouse that has a USB connect. ) What a creep! And when he brought the computer back, I explain to him that my 80,000 photos and 30,000 videos were no longer on my computer. He said yes they are there's 31,000 photos. I said no those are the ones on the cloud. He promised he would back up those photos and videos before he ever took my computer apart. I was VERY CLEAR The above mentioned photos that were not on the cloud had been taken and upload with an SD card. I was very clear about making sure they were backed up. I even gave him 2 hard drives to back them up onto in case they weren't there. I wasn't sure what was on either one, but gave him permission to use them. I paid this guy over $1000 and it has taken me a couple years to get to this review. I'm still so distraught and I would say to anybody looking for computer repair never ever trust this guy and he is so creepy. He talks so smooth but don't believe what he says. I'm making this post because it is so important for others to know that this is NOT someone u would ever trust. I could say so much more about my horrible experience and the tears I shed, but if I can at least convey to anybody looking for computer repair, I would suggest that you never ever talk to this guy! As another reviewer said "he doesn't even deserve a one star". Phil raves about being trustworthy and honest in every description of himself, over 30 years experience in computers, seemed good to me and being rated a 10 star on Nextdoor for 2023. I called and said I had a slow computer, he said no problem he could fix that. He came over on a Friday and unhooked the computer to take to his business (house?) to repair. I distinctly said I do not want to upgrade to Windows 11 till they quit supporting 10. Received a call the next day and he asked how attached to my files was I? What's the problem I say......the computer is corrupted he said and all my files are gone. What was I to say? He's the expert. I said I should probably just buy a new computer, no he said that would be about $700.00. Okay now I'm not really sure what's going on, my files/photos are gone, he's got my computer, I've got problems. He's the expert right? Expert at what I think? He wants to bring the computer back on Monday, but I work, okay after 5 pm he'll be over to hook it back up. It's working great, he says fast. He ends up staying over 2 hours hooking up my computer. This is when I see that Windows 11 is installed and 10 is gone. He googled how to fit the screen to fit my monitor because I said it didn't fit. I asked about security...none of that had been installed, he installed Malware and said for me to run this manually every week when i said I wasn't paying for that. Called my son to see what security he has put on my computer which ended up being Dell defender so had to wait for Phil to google that and install. He then added Yahoo and Facebook to the desktop, etc. I finally was very upset at this point and said I needed to feed my animals, so he needed to leave . In addition the computer was running very slow he said because everyone else was using the internet. Yes I paid him because he was in my house and I wanted him gone. He left after my $300.00 payment. I cried that night. I had actually cashed out 40 hours of vacation time from work to get my computer fixed. That's roughly $600.00 after taxes so you know I don't make much. After a few days of thinking about what happened I realized this was not my fault....I had been taken advantage of or whatever you choose to call this, scammed, grifted, cheated? I called him on Friday and a women answered and said he couldn't talk on the phone he was driving to Portland...Phil told me to call anytime if I had issues. The women told me to call on Monday, I said I work, she said to call him after I'm done with work and she said to have a "Happy Mother's Day". I called on Monday and no one picked up the phone. I left a message that I wanted my money back because nothing he had promised had happened and all my stuff was gone and the computer was even slower now. I said my only recourse was to post negative reviews. He called me back, I answered and asked if he has heard my message? No he said, but had seen I called. I said I wanted my money back. He said "Not Gonna Happen". So I told him what my only options were at this point. He started to say something about how I had a very slow computer and I said stop that I didn't want to hear any more about this being my fault. This situation is all very familiar territory to this man and his business and he is very comfortable in doing what he did with absolutely no remorse. Please do not use him (Philip Moore) or his business (Phil's Computer Repair). I don't want anyone else to lose their files, photos or their hard earned wages...or shed any tears. read more

took an old computer into Phil to retrieve photos that you see and when you click on them they would disappear that was all I wanted. I told him I did not have my apple account with me.he stated that I refused to give him my iTunes account that's is a lie I was locked out of my account and could not access it. there was no way he couldn't help me retrieve this. it took me 3 days threw apple to reset my pass word thank god this happened. next morning I called him to give him notice on my Itunes account. This is when I found out he started a new google account for me and had been transferred photos to this account he set up. Not knowing what exactly he was doing he ask for me to add more storage to the account and I did. The next day I told him to stop everything he is doing that this is not workin and not what I brought the computer in for. He sends me a detailed bill for 4 hours of work. I told him I was only paying for two hours of work. and I did pay him for 3 hours. after I got my computer back he had gotten into the account he set up and changed the password and now I can't access the photo. all I wanted from him was to find out y I can't see these photos when you click on them. phil has turned this into a nightmare. Now I have to have another computer place go threw what he did. complete useless place read more

I would not use Phil unless he swears he has lots of experience with whatever you need him to do. I hired him to put my iTunes library onto a Sandisk so I could put it in my Samsung phone. He has no experience with Samsung products, only Apple products, so he couldn't show me the music on the phone after he supposedly transferred it. He says he transferred my library to the Sandisk...but it is not there. I sent him a photo showing that only 2.7 GB of stuff was on the Sandisk and only 212 MB of music. That was about 7 albums. And some of the "songs" were actually old voice mails that I hadn't deleted. He refused to consider giving me my money back. I used him because he seemed like a nice man who probably needed the work. But I could have had a knowledgable person do it for less money than Phil wanted to charge me. He took some of the cost off since he couldn't show me that the songs would play...but I am still out $48...with nothing to show for it. I am going to have to pay someone else to start over with the job. The ironically sad part for me is that my other phone, that had all my music on it on a Sandisk, was stolen and I am spending a lot of money to replace something that a thief took and probably threw away. read more
