After visiting on campus for tour/ rotation day, talked to staff and was assisted on the process of joining the program and the options of loans and the school schedule. I was able to work my full time job during the week (my only income) while also completing online classes and tests. On weekends I'd go back on campus for in person training and learning. It was the most convenient and absolutely accommodating help I could've ever asked for! Once I finished my hours I was helped with getting my first job as a MA and got all the experience I needed. I am currently undergoing my second job at an urgent care all thanks to the help of career service director Bana Keflom. After looking for my permanent office job I was feeling discouraged till until she came along to encourage and assist me on my journey. Although there are other steps to go further into the medical field, I am truly happy I completed the program at UEI and that everything went accordingly from online classes to on campus hours and internship completion. I am extremely grateful to have Bana help me through my journey and be just as thrilled for me as any of my family and friends. This UEI has been nothing but good to me and I'd definitely recommend it to any first timers looking for their field of interested like myself.

Without a doubt, this was one of the most challenging experiences for me in academia, and I have an advanced degree in Biology. So, whatever you do, do not take this program lightly. The material covered is very comprehensive, with certain aspects mirroring year one of medical school. Given the duration of the program, there will unquestionably be times when you're overcome by the sheer volume of material covered in such a short time frame. Whatever you do, **don't get discouraged.** Stay the course. Rest assured, the staff at RCI are there to support you as best as they can. Because your success is a direct reflection of them-- their ability to ensure you are well prepared for the board exam and will make a positive contribution to the medical community at large. You see, everyone has a common goal here. The goal is for you to succeed. Outstanding experience overall. But again, this is far from easy. While the role is that of technician, this is not an "on the surface" academic program. The demand is great, and the bar is high. Although, you've been given somewhat of a head start seeing as the support system at RCI is stellar. The instructors and laboratory training are top tier. What's more, there is an underlying kindness that reverberates throughout the RCI campus fostering a strong sense of hope. But... RCI can only go so far. Be prepared to put in the work. The end result will be everything you hoped it would be (and more) in the healthcare sector. So, what are you waiting for? Enroll now! As RCI says, this is your "Gateway to a New Beginning." You've got this.

The program is fast-paced and requires a lot of self-discipline, but the instructors were knowledgeable and willing to answer questions when needed. Overall, the program provided structure and support during an important step toward licensure!

Classes are typically held at his many physical campuses in the morning, as well as in the evening to accommodate for the average work schedule, and Saturday mornings. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all classes are now being held online (the classes must go on!). Most, if not all of the content Doc Manny teaches is easy to comprehend, whether you have a medical background or not. Classes are year-round so you can start when you want, but they move at your own pace. It's not formatted like traditional schools, where they start in the fall and end in the spring; Doc is able to teach in a way that progresses each student no matter where they are or when they started. Depending on how quick you learn, you may finish earlier than others, even if you both started at the same time. This also includes taking/passing the AHIMA test (I finished mine & got my certification in 4 months! Thanks to my classmates too for all your help & encouragement). If for some reason you're unable to grasp what's being taught, Doc Manny will repeat it over and over again until it clicks. For incoming students, the whole process can be overwhelming and a bit challenging at times, but once you find your footing and get a feel for things, you'll be right on track. Dr. Manny Santiago has been teaching medical coding for 20+ years and he really illustrates the experience through his passion for the job. He is very knowledgeable, professional, caring, patient, supportive, approachable, and most of all, very accommodating to his student's needs. He is always ready to answer any of your questions. As an added bonus, he keeps students engaged through much needed jokes, and some times, unintended humor! :) Once you've passed his class and you're finally a CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), he will also assist you in getting a job. I really had an awesome experience at HSJ. I learned so much from Doc Manny, as well as from his great proctors GJ Blanco, Mike Agbayani and Marie Garcia!!! I highly recommend this school to anyone!
