It's awesome to have several good Vietnamese options in the Harwood Heights area and Pho Home delivers. For me, what makes this a bit different from Viet Taste nearby is the addition of several more premium options in terms of entrees and drinks. This is not to say that one is better than the other, just that both provide a little different but still delicious options. Though the broth is a slightly weak, definitely get the brisket pho here for a well priced and delicious experience. There is no appetizer combo plate here, but don't let that discourage you from ordering as the apps are well priced and do come in fairly generous portions. Service is alright, minimal but friendly and we were visited often enough to get all the items we needed. On the non-food side, the brightly lit interior and more spacious parking lot make this an easy choice of spot to visit when looking for Asian food in the area for dine-in. read more

Tried this place for the first time last year and it's turned into one of my weekly my go-to's. Probably my favorite thing is their Hu Tieu Bo Kho (stew with noodles). The beef is so tender, and you add a little spice to it and it's the perfect meal for this time of season. I also enjoy their fire wings a lot. Probably the best around. The Shrimp Salad (Goi Tom) is also excellent and unique. It has salad with cabbage, mint, daikon carrots, onions and shrimps, topped with fried shallots and roasted peanuts and their own homemade sauce. They've recently added the Banh Mi sandwiches as well and these are also very good. I'd do these at lunchtime only. Really solid Vietnamese restaurant in a small and somewhat busy shopping plaza. Gives a hole in the wall feel and was consistently busy throughout our dine-in lunch on a Sunday. I had been craving Pho for weeks and wanted to nip a cold in the bud. This was a comforting choice. I didn't end up with the Pho (lol!) but I still got a soup - Bun Bo Hue. It was divine!! Filled with beef, thick noodles and the perfect spice and temperature. It was enough to share and a great complement to our other entree, the crispy chicken. I highly recommend both! Comes with rice, dipping sauce, little salad and egg. We ended our lunch with a Vietnamese coffee treat and the waitress was really sweet and made sure our coffee wasn't, haha (per our request). My friends and I checked out Phone Home for the first time the other day, and we all agreed that we'd be back soon, especially because my friend lives right down the street from here. When we walked in, the worker was friendly. She told us we could sit anywhere in the dining room, and after we did, she quickly brought over menus. I was surprised by how spacious the place was, especially for a restaurant in a strip mall. Everything looked clean and well-kept, which is always a good sign. One of my friends and I started with the Spring Rolls ($6.95), and they were fresh, light, and delicious. Each order comes with two rolls stuffed with shrimp, noodles, mint, lettuce, and bean sprouts. The peanut sauce on the side wasn't something I expected to love, but after the first few dips, I couldn't stop. It was so good! The pho was also phenomenal, and we were all impressed by how affordable the large bowls were for such high quality. I ordered the Hủ Tiếu Bò Kho (Stew with Noodles) [$15.95]. The beef was unbelievably tender, the broth was rich and flavorful, and every ingredient mixed well and tasted like it belonged in the broth. I added a little sriracha for some extra heat, which made the stew even better. If you're a pho lover, this spot is a must-try! Just came from my work near O'Hare airport. Had seen this Vietnamese restaurant at this plaza in Harwood Heights. It's interesting to see the change of ethnic restaurants when I used to work around here and then this was a Chinese restaurant. Very quiet Low key if not modest Vietnamese restaurant. As usual I ordered my usual favorites the exception of the beverage. And ordered their strawberry lemonade according to their menu is in-house and when I tasted it it was very fresh. There was no gimmick in there in House non alcoholic beverages. Service was very friendly and somewhat quick not exactly very quick. There's spring rolls which I'm surprised had a lot of flavor especially with the shrimp and the freshness of the wrap up cilantro. Vermicelli noodles in which they gave a very generous if not hearty portion. The particular phone I ordered which was two weeks or p2 was flavorful but portion wise was a little small. I still left satisfied but then again I'm older and I don't have the voracious appetite like when I was a 20, 30 or early 40 year old. I was really looking forward to trying their food. In fact, I drove an hour to try to make that happen. It looked like a decent place eat for a storefront restaurant. I called ahead of time and the lady said that I would have no problem ordering just before closing time if it was for take out. She also said that I could even pick it up 10 minutes after they closed. It turns out this wasn't true and she made me waste my time driving out there because when I tried to order, she said it was too late. I love trying new places and I really enjoy pho, but her lack of customer service and accountability has put me off. The lady taking my order was quite rude. I had a valid discount for this restaurant and wasn't able to use it because of the incorrect information she gave me earlier that evening. I have ordered from "Pho Home" through different delivery platforms many, many times. Technically, this is my go-to Vietnamese place. When it comes to pick something that has a relatively quick arrival time, this is the most solid choice and I can never go wrong with it. First of all, the prices on their menu items are reasonable, with a variety of options for those who want something else other than a comforting bowl of pho. I have tried different restaurants on Argyle and "Pho Home" is still ranked the highest because of the taste of broth. It doesn't seem to have much of extra ingredients that would mask the simplicity. I have only dined in at the restaurant once during COVID. I was a decent experience considering the indoor seating arrangement was very limited at that time. I don't live far from Harwood Heights, so having the food delivered on a busy weekday or weekend evening with kids is more a viable solution. However, the service prepped for delivery has been good. Broths are always clearly labeled on the tubs and everything would arrive with the right temperature. The only time a minor incident occurred was when I ordered the matcha cheesecake along with pho. The cheesecake literally disappeared, or I should say, melted into a pool of sugary batter. That was no fun yet it didn't stop me from being a loyal customer. I think the package method has since improved for the better. I haven't encountered another tragedy with iced drinks. They recently have opened "Pho Home 2" in the the Galewood neighborhood. The location decor is very standard for a Vietnamese restaurant. Banh Mi Cha Lua Traditional choice. The bread is toasted, crunchy, and light. Meat filling is a little on the light side. Veggies fresh. Bun Bo Hue Spicy brother to Pho. In other restaurants, you'll see knuckle bone and other cuts of meat. This location didn't do that. The meats in the soup were only sliced. The food here was so delicious. I thought it would be just another regular place to eat as my aunt wanted something Asian. The crispy chicken was fit for for a king. Normally I'm not a fan of rice and will leave it on the side but this one was so delicious, I ate it all up. Will def be coming back for more ! The noodles, meats, and topping were packed to the side. Fresh herbs and vegs that were served were mint, cilantro, bean sprouts, red onion, red cabbage, and lime. I also ordered chicken wings and chose the sweet sauce and egg rolls. Wings were crisp and sweet but not overly sweet, so good! Egg rolls were tasty as well. We ordered take out from this place tonight when our regular place was closed (Pho Tam). Broth all had to be reheated as we did take out. The pho tai (beef) was good. We ordered 4 orders. It has extraordinarily lean & excellent meat - the best I've ever had. And we've had lots of Pho - from Argyle St places to Milwaukee, WI and at least 4 other area places. We love pho! The beef broth is on the plain side but adding the accoutrements gives it the needed boost. The spring (aka fresh) rolls are good (light on lettuce & mint) and individually wrapped which I appreciate so they don't dry out, the peanut sauce is different, not peanut-y or as thick as other places but fine. The fried "egg rolls", which we normally call spring rolls, were good, not sure what they stuff them with, tasted like some sort of meat and the dipping sauce had a nice light (mild) heat. My daughter had the pho ga (chicken) and loved it - she's 7. :) Thought I took more pics but nope, you'll have to try them yourselves! Pho Home is justifiably proud of their pho. It's a long-cooked bone broth that has a wonderful depth of flavor. Good variety of noodle dishes and banh-mi. Decor is quite nice, too. If you're not Vietnamese, there is always an American server to help you, and they know the cuisine. The ONLY reason I didn't give it 5 stars is that "Viet Taste," about 6 blocks south, has an even better pho. But bring cash: no credit cards. Pho Home does take them, though. read more

I've already been back like 4 times in about a weeks span. The more I eat the more it grows on me. Today I tried the beef stew which was delicious, it includes a variety of meats, could do without the tendons, as it's too chewy but the stew was really tasty and the baguette was amazing. They added smoothies recently, and they are really good. I had the mango smoothie which was really natural tasting, not overly sweet or syrupy. Looking forward to trying more flavors. read more

I have no idea what is up with this area and their restaurants! One terrible place after another! Unfortunately Pho Home was no exception. We ordered the chicken bahn mi, which was more fat and connecting tissue than meat. The egg rolls were mushy on the inside, so I'm guessing they were frozen. But who knows, the ones we bought from Costco the other day tasted better in our air fryer. The kicker was the tea, which basically tasted like they dumped sweet and sour sauce into some water. I have no idea what it was supposed to be. How these places get such good reviews is beyond me! Either shills, or people are just this clueless. I stopped by Pho Home one day after a trip. I was craving Pho so I googled this spot (glad I did). It's in a Plaza style location so parking is basically first come first serve. I was greeted by a gentleman (I do not recall his name he was pleasant) he was stocking as soon as he noticed me he greeted me and took my order (great customer service + attentiveness). I have a few food restrictions after we crossed that bridge he took my order. I order the Chicken Pho, and Thai Iced Tea. The atmosphere was laid back, and pretty. I did go around early lunch so I cannot speak for what it's like on a busy afternoon. It was fairly quiet while I was dining in I was able to work, and attend a virtual meeting from this location. I would return if I'm in the area, and also the left overs are great reheated. I grew up in an area with a large Vietnamese community and tons of pho restaurants. I can confidently and truthfully say I have eaten at over a hundred pho restaurants and this is definitely one of the best in quality for both food and drink. It's actually my very favorite for the viet iced coffee which is the right balance of intensity with creaminess and isn't too sweet. My husband and I both got meatballs and rare beef in our pho- our usual when we visit the places back home. The broth was full of flavor and body, plenty of sides and rice noodles, and we asked for a chili oil which was house made and spicy garlicky perfection! We live about 40 mins away from this place and only stumbled upon it because we were doing business across the parking lot but I will definitely make the trip back just for this gem! I really liked the broth of the pho. It's not oily at all like you find at many places. The flavor is there I've been to ton of places including many in argyle and I can say this is right up there. My wife got the crispy chicken it was just ok. But come here for the pho. I got the 2 meat pho wish it had a little more meat but the broth was so damn good that I am willing to overlook it. Viet iced coffee and thai iced tea is good too... (but a bit small for the price) The Bun satay beef & nuoc cham could be better though. Beef lacked some sear, and depth of flavor. It almost taste just garlic beef. It is also full of veggies which is great but would be good to have more noodles with it (or a better ratio with the noodles. Nuoc cham is weak, tasted too watered down. The crispy eggroll is good though. Overall, will probably give it another shot sometime and try another dish. I LOVE pho. Been eating eating it for about 30+ years now being originally from CA. We have a usual pho place but wanted to try this place as my husband had been here before and raved about the pho. The food here was fairly good. Not the best but not the worst. The restaurant was clean and the ingredients were fresh. I had the pho tai, chicken wings, and spring rolls. What went wrong? The service! I know many restaurants are short staffed, but this was beyond rude. We came in, and were seated. We were the only ones in the restaurant, but looks like they were busy with takeout orders, which was fine...I was glad they were getting business in these times, so we were initially patient. Took 10 mins for the waitress to come and take our order. That should of been a sign. 30 minutes passed...not even waters. Should of got up and left at this point, but instead we cancelled the smoothies we ordered and again asked for waters. 20 more minutes pass...and the waitress gives us waters. I finally had enough (we have been here for over an hour now)...and go up and cancel the rest of our order. The guy in the kitchen comes out and brings us the chicken wings and spring rolls and say our pho will be coming out. We eat our food and pay. EVERYONE in our party is thoroughly irate at this point. So disappointed. Bean sprouts were old. Not the usual pho vegetables. Pho broth was ok. My friend had a sandwich. It was not served on the crispy French bread, but soft white bun type. The bread is half of the reason for the sandwich! I used to eat at SAIGON PHO in Forest Park before they closed, and THAT was authentic. I am very familiar with authentic Vietnamese food (have been since the 1980's) and this was not it. Oh- and the ginger tea had a tea bag in a glass! NO NO NO!
