I've been here a couple times and really like it. Flavor wise, all the food is great. Appetizers plate is the perfect starter when there's 3 or more of us. I've heard some people say they've gotten their orders messed up but luckily that's never happened to me. Service is okay. They'll come and take your order, maybe check in once, and then when it's time to pay. I like this place too because it's a huge room with booths & tables so plenty of seating, like 4 parking spots in the back, and street parking right out front. read more

This place is great! They're definitely genuine about the experience. So a lot of Asian mom and pops restaurants, they focus on food over service. The service is decent and the servers are polite, but don't expect them to check on you frequently like an Applebees. Also, the decor was great! It seats a ton of people too. It's bigger on the inside. Anyway, the food? Really good! It was a rainy day and we were craving pho. Stopped by here and don't regret it! A ton of pho for you to taste and take home, which I definitely had take home broth. I always eat up the noodles at the restaurant so I pour the broth over rice later on. But anyway, the meat was really good, great ratio of meat to noodles. A good amount of bean sprouts and mint on the side. I got the 42 which has meat, meat balls, and tripe, and I love this combo. My partner got 41 which was the seafood one, which was good too. We also ordered some crab rangoons, which were huge and totally worth the price. And I was craving boba so I ordered some blended taro with boba. Boba was nothing crazy but great with the pho. 5/5 will come back, gotta taste the rest of the menu. read more

Stopped by for a quick dinner one night and ended up with an absolute monster of a pho bowl. I got the Pho Nam and a coke for about 15 bucks. The pho broth was a bit on the sweet side (which is my preference). Luckily, like any good pho place, there's sriracha and chili paste on the table for you to mix in. I do wish there was even one more slice of lime to go with my gigantic bowl but I'm nitpicking here. The servers were quick and friendly, and the interior was really nice too. King Pho was pretty good. I had one of their noodle bowls and I was not disappointed. My friend got the omelette. Presentation was beautiful. Both of us weren't really feeling the soup vibe. For appetizer we had the spring rolls and deep-fried egg rolls. The egg rolls were very good. Best out of all pho places yet! For dessert I had the lychee mango boba tea. That was delicious too. I like how the tops are sealed and ready for travel. I regret having to mention this but I would strongly recommend that if you have to use the facilities, that you do so before you come here. First of all, the door is hard to lock on the ladies restroom. Then the girl in front of me didn't flush because she was either grossed out by how you flush this kind of toilet or she just didn't know how. I had to flush before I could use the toilet. But this toilet has that button on the back divided in half that allows you to choose the kind of flush you want. You push down. Unfortunately my experience doesn't stop there. I noticed immediately that there was no toilet paper. I had to go and didn't want to waste time getting a staff member to help me. There was a ladder in the hallway just outside the bathroom that allowed you to climb and reach a fresh roll of toilet paper. I managed to partially climb the ladder and reach a new roll. Once I finished, I went to wash my hands and there was no soap in the dispenser. I had to wash my hands after all that with water. They don't have paper towel, just a disgusting air dryer so I had to use more toilet paper to dry my hands. Thank goodness my early dinner companion had hand sanitizer!! The restaurant is also now carpeted and the beautiful wood floors no longer exist. Anyway, I'm not coming back here. I rarely say anything about bathrooms but this needed to be addressed. Terrible service. Took my order and my appetizer came out 30 minutes later which is not terrible, but our pho took another hour to come out. Asked the server multiple times and she kept saying "5 more minutes" and would purposely avoid us and avoid making eye contact. Will never again come here. 0/5 stars. read more

I came to King Pho on a Monday evening for dinner after some friends recommended it. There's some free parking in the back of the restaurant but the lot is small. There were a few other diners but maybe 25% of the restaurant was occupied when we went. We weren't sure what to expect since some of the other Yelp reviews mentioned poor service. However, we got our food pretty quickly and the service was decent. I had the bun bo hue and hubby got the pho dac biet. For both our dishes there was plenty of meat but we both wish there were more noodles. The bun bo hue was perfectly spicy and flavorful. We also both got an avocado smoothie but they forgot the boba in my husband's drink but it was quickly fixed after he pointed it out. We would come back if we're in the area but probably will try a rice or dry noodle dish next time. read more

Ownership of this restaurant changed in 2022. The menu was simplified and only Vietnamese food is offered. The Pho sections are priced at $11 or $12 for the bigger combinations. I only order the pho. The soup is flavorful. Mint, sprouts and jalapeño peppers are served to add to the soup. Soup came steaming hot as it should be. The dining room is big and not crowded. Service was quick and food came quickly. There's there is parking in the rear. It is a little convoluted to get there with a one way alley but there is usually space. Street parking in front is by Park Chicago but is not too bad. I come here after running to load up on electrolytes and collagen (tendon). I think the menu has changed for the better. read more

The staff were very friendly and patiently waited until we figured out the menu. The pho was soooo good. Not overly salty, but still somehow very flavorful. All the meat were so tender and perfectly done. All the veggies were also very fresh. The potstickers were fried very well, light and airy. The Vietnamese coffee was also really good, very concentrated flavor of bitter, sweet and creaminess. Bun bo hue was also really good, not as spicy as I was afraid it would be. I ordered the egg rolls appetizer and the pho with steak, tendon, and tripe (#54) I liked the pho! The broth was hot and hearty. The beef, tendon, and tripe were yummy,and everything tasted great together. The egg rolls were good too! I didn't expect them to be so filling, but they were delicious! My favorite thing about them was the taro filling. It added a unique and good flavor to the egg rolls. Even though I did not get anything vegan, I love that King Pho offers vegan options. Solid choice for Vietnamese noodles. The space is nice and open and could accommodate larger groups nicely. The a/c could have been a bit cooler as it was one of the hotter/humid days of the summer, but acceptable. We had the tendon, brisket and tripe noodle soup which was a big hit. The soup was flavorful, complex and had so many different flavors going on in it. Also ordered a side of extra noodles $1.5 which definitely needed as my family shared the dishes together. The vermicelli lemon grass pork salad was a really filling serving size and had a blast of flavor from the fish sauce dressing. Perfect for a hot day dish. Wish the spring rolls could have been cut to smaller size to make it easier to eat as I mixed the noodles together. The food was good and a big plus is that there is parking in the rear. I was the Baron per Yelp, in these parts, don't know what that means exactly but it was due in part to checking in here so many times. My favorites remain and they are: - Bahn Xeo, which is like a crispy egg omelette with veggies and pork and shrimp. You wrap it protein style in a lettuce leaf. Comes with a sweet and sour dipping sauce. Both Healthy and yummy - the crab Rangoon, although the last batch seemed to have less cheese?? - the numerous bun (Vietnamese word for noodles) bowls. I usually pick beef, pork or shrimp for my protein There's a small parking lot out back, there's street parking out front on busy Devon. It's also BYOB so I usually bring an assortment of craft beer and cider. I've been to King Pho 2x. It's BYOB. I ordered the same dish twice: pork chop + honey sausage! I might try their lemongrass chicken next time. My bf has been coming here for years for pho. They also have a good bun bo hue, which I've just tried. It's not super spicy and has this seafood flavor. I'm not a fan of the noodle type and wish it used flat rice noodles that you usually get with pho. It comes with this white white (not translucent) round noodle that looks like spaghetti. We found this place by accident. We wanted to go to the Thai restaurant across the street, but they've switched to carry-out only. Just one thing made me not give 5 stars. Because the pho at Viet taste, on Forest Preserve and Harlem, is a bit better. Larger and more ornate than your typical pho restaurant in Chicago, but the pho, noodle dishes, appetizers are right on point. Love pho, but can't always have it too often. I love this meal at King Pho. The batter tastes really good. The peppers and onions are well incorporated into the calamari and is instantly noticeable. Wish they gave more rice tho, but I love this combo with their chili oil. Also tastes really good dipped in hoisin. Opening searing, sit whenever you like. I like the dark theme of the restaurant. I do not know if its just because of supply chain issues or workforce issues, but this place has sadly started to slip. First of all, they took away a majority of the non Pho menu. I like pho so it wasn't a huge dealbreaker for me, but some in my group it was. They also seemed to shrink the options for pho as I seem to remember one with chicken broth last winter. The service is also nearly non existent. We never saw our server for the hour we were in the place. It would make sense if the place was packed, but there were only four tables filled. There's a few things King Pho does great - the taro/chicken/coconut fried appetizer is one of them, their bahn mi is pretty good, and their vermicelli bowls are great too but they're not always consistently 100%. I've found they're a bit better with carry out than dine in, where you can get a wildly different experience depending on who's working. Sometimes the food is great and fast but the service isn't on, or sometimes the service is nice but the food is a bit slow and not on par. Overall it's still one of my favorites for Vietnamese food in the area. Their TEA is great too so try that when you go in. read more

If you want to come here, just know parking spots are limited in the front and you have to pay for parking. I believe it's $3 for 1hr30mins. Do come prepared that there may not be any parking unless you are okay with parking far elsewhere and walking on foot to the restaurant. I love the atmosphere here. It's not to loud or to busy when I came in. The food took a little longer than usual to come out but I don't mind the wait. The food was good. I really liked the combo pho with added shrimp. Would come back for the pho again. Employees are nice and friendly, they engaged well with my kids too. They have high chairs for your baby/toddler as well, which is a plus. Good food for the price. The Banh Mi's are served on fresh toasted buns and have a lot of flavor. However, the chicken Banh Mi was made of chopped thigh meat which had cartilage and fat which really detracted from the sandwich. I wouldn't order that version again. Everyone at our table really liked the various beef pho bowls. The noodle bun dishes are ok, but perhaps not as good as the pho. The menu has a decent variety. It's heavy on the beef and light on seafood. I wish they had more seafood choices, even if it meant a higher price for those dishes. The space is open and loft-like. I came here on a cold day & it was a perfect time for it! The food was absolutely delicious & the service was great. It wasn't busy so I got seated right away. I had the pork Banh Mi sandwich to start and man oh man, it was tasty!! The bread was fresh & the pork was deliciously marinated; the lemongrass toppings made it for a great starter. I warmed my belly with the Pho Dax Biet which basically their combo pho that has every type of meat. Their pho is as good as it gets; piping hot broth & the meat was tender. Pro: Tasty foods in a nice and pleasant environment. Prices on the higher side. Spacious area with nicer decor. Location closer to where we go for restaurants. It is a serve and go type of restaurant. Cons: Host not accommodating enough and never unpleasant. Not much service and so the compensation should be adjusted as needed. Restrooms are very unpleasant and not sure how the kitchen would look if this is not taken care of. Major maintenance, renovation, and cleanup needs to be done often. Overall: We may revisit again because of the good food although need to find more places in the area. I am generous with the rating here and so there is room for improvements. This is a gem of a restaurant in the business district (which we natives call "uptown") of our little neighborhood on the far north edge of Chicago. There are several Asian restaurants to choose from here, and as I've moved back to town only fairly recently, I hadn't tried any of them yet. I carefully checked out the menus and read the reviews, and we chose King Pho based on both being exactly what we were looking for in a quick, close-to-our-next-event neighborhood restaurant. And, it turned out even better than our expectations! I love Asian appetizers of many kinds, so when I check out an Asian restaurant for the first time, I often order two or more appetizers, and try them all. As this was lunch, and I wasn't that hungry, my meal was comprised of just two appetizers -- the Shrimp Rangoon, and the Chicken Pot Stickers (fried and crispy, my preference). Both were wonderful, as was the slightly spicy and slightly (but not overpoweringly) sweet red sauce they both came with, but the Shrimp Rangoon were especially delicious. They were in spring roll wrappers (as opposed to the thicker egg roll wrappers) so were light, crispy, and mouth-wateringly flavorful. The only thing I would have preferred is if the single large shrimp protruding from inside each had been de-tailed before serving. It was a messy nuisance to remove the tail shell without destroying the crispy wrapper. Maybe some people pick them up by the tail and eat them like a corn dog on a stick, but I prefer the shell to be gone before I even start. But will this stop me from ordering them again? Absolutely not -- they were fabulous! My husband had the Clay Pot Fried Rice with chicken. It's a pot full of friend rice, veggies, and the chosen meat, topped with sausage. I tried a little, and tried a bite of the sausage, which was smoked but also a little sweet. I think I liked the sausage, although it was a little bit of a different taste than I was expecting. The fried rice was good, as was the little bite of chicken I tried, and he thoroughly enjoyed it all. We had soft drinks, although there were many other (non-alcoholic) choices including various teas and other beverages. Parking was easy -- there's a small lot in the back reserved for use by several adjacent business, so this is where we parked. Neighborhood residents know about it, but others might not. There's also paid parking in the front, and the local Chicago parking app makes it even easier. They also seemed to be doing a good carry-out business while we were there, so I'm planning sometime soon to order some things to go, and swing by to get them on the way home from work. I can pop in the back door from their lot to grab them -- easy peasy! read more

Food: Their food and drinks have been consistently superb, and we have absolutely loved everything we ordered. We especially love their Pho Dac Biet, Bun, Vietnamese Spring Rolls, Pad See Ew, and Brown Sugar Boba Milk Tea. Service: Zero stars. Their service was absurdly horrendous and slow. The servers were super inattentive, even by Asian restaurant standards. It took an hour for even our drinks to come out, and they gave us the wrong drink. It took well over an hour for our food to finally come out, and we had to get plates, utensils, to go boxes, and even the bill by ourselves. We'll be back but will stick to takeouts! read more

Came here on a random Saturday night with family and a friend. No reservations were required and lots of tables. Great to see such a Diverse crowd as well having dinner from families to teenagers and everything in between. We ordered pho of course with the beef and a chicken bowl which was out of this world! The pho was large with ample filling of noodles and meat. Luckily it was also quite warm but I would prefer it to be hotter. The chicken bowl was so good I ordered one to go! This place is simple and straight forward with pictures all over the menu so you know what you are ordering. Do not expect any fancy ambiance or presentation but do expect solid good food! read more
