    Pho with well done brisket
    Kylie S.

Stopped by here after the beach on Thursday and pho hit the spot! The service was friendly and efficient. The AC was blowing right at the table we sat at, and he offered us to move AND turned the AC down for us! Pho was good, broth was hearty, noodles were a bit soft but better than undercooked. Spring rolls were good! Summer rolls were okay. Would come back when I'm in the mood for pho!

We ordered the kalbi and it was raw The server seems like space out and not understanding my order. Filthy and dirty.

I was very offended this evening when I drove 30 mins to pick up my online order just for this disgustingly rude man to tell me they don't have the ingredients for my order & not only was he rude but he grabbed my card out of the machine & sent me off. I felt that he racially profiled me & was not even eager to accommodate me w something else I might like! I do not recommend this place at all. If you don't have food tell the people before they order stupid man!! I hope your boss reads this! U make your business look bad!

    Grilled pork sandwich (Bahn mi)
    Lyle O.

Ordered two Banh mi (grilled pork) sandwiches to go and overall it was ok. The French roll was crisp and tasty, the grilled pork had good flavor but chewy, and the sliced cucumbers and radish were good. No knock on this sandwich but I've had better. Pho Kim Anh is located in a small plaza which hosts restaurants such as 808 Grindz. My suggestion is to slice the radish a little thinner as well as the cucumbers and let them stand in a sweet vinegar sauce or a few hours. I don't have any suggestions about the chewiness of the pork.

This spot was exactly what I needed after a night out. I was greeted and seated right away, which was a nice start. The pho was incredible and really hit the spot. The spring rolls were perfectly seasoned and had a great crunch. The banh mi was also delicious I'd definitely come back to try more dishes.

Located in the Kopiko Plaza on the Kona side of the island, Pho Kim Anh is whipping up all the usual suspects of the Vietnamese cuisine. From noodles soups to rice plates -- all the way to specialty noodle dishes, I left feeling satisfied from my pho fix and appreciative that the owners of this restaurant brought authentic Vietnamese inspired dishes to the big island of Hawaii. Service was thoughtful and very personable -- and the ambiance was inviting and comfortable. Would encourage visitors and locals to stop in to support a small business while simultaneously enjoying one of the many staples the Vietnamese cuisine has to offer.

One of my favorite pho spots EVER. I always try to visit when in Kona. The pho comes out quick too. :)

Tenkatori bills itself as a Japanese style fried chicken, our only other choice in the food court was Mexican (Philippino place wasn't open) so we were open to try. Tenkatori did not disappoint-ordered bento chicken-one was tater tot bento, other was rice and chicken bento, with wasabi and yuzu sauces. Bento came with four softball sized pieces of boneless chicken thighs hot out of the fryer, so fresh and juicy, the juices were literally squirting out between bites. Dipped in the creamy wasabi sauce-great flavor without the head-numbing experience. Yuzu was also creamy, not acidic like lemon, just the real deal. Btw both sauces good with tater tots, but they give you ketchup too. Quite the find, in a quiet marketplace on a stormy Sunday Tenkatori lives up to its ratings. Will be back!

Hesitation was instilled once I realized it was part of a random food court kind of in the middle of nowhere but did not count it out completely. 3. Disregarded as there seemed to be potentially better options out there for our meal choices. 4. Enjoy our other meal option. 5. Per chance, happen to swing by this food court per request of a family member in hopes of grabbing some Malasadas in the bakery nearby afterwards. 6. Realizing that we stumbled into the food court anyways, it was fated that we were meant to proceed with placing an order for some chicken. 7. After a short wait for food to be prepared, I'd confirm that the fried chicken is solid, tater tots were good as well, and the mac salad was just okay.

We had leftovers that were great the next day for lunch as well. This is a popular place so be prepared. We ate inside not having a reservation but I'd suggest calling for a reservation outside. Also keep in mind that rents are high in Kona, it's a challenge to find people that can afford it and work in our restaurants, so be kind to them. Parking is also a challenge but patience and determination will get you there. Currently if you are a Costco member you can purchase gift cards for $80 that will get you $100 at the restaurant, so effectively a 20% discount. Those discount cards seem to rotate in and out at Costco so that will probably change. We've gotten two takeout dinners since then and it's a definite favorite of ours. Mahalo.

We also had the Matcha Shiratama Zenzai for dessert. It was awesome. Great combination of flavours. Everything is reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend it. They have a TV showing historical clips of the Japanese immigrants who moved to Hawaii. We learned so much just dining there! The servers were very nice and friendly. They even offer free, hot green tea. It wasn't crowded when we went there for lunch. The server said we could order from the dinner menu too. The restaurant is decorated with a bunch of old family photos. It's not a fancy food location, but a place that is in the locals' hearts. Also, it's not standard Japanese American food, so don't come in looking for rolls and such! Instead, they serve fresh, perfectly prepared Japanese food with a Hawaiian twist, favorites like saimin and shrimp tempura. The large saimin ($16.17) was delicious and really hit the spot. Toppings were Spam, eggs, and veggies. Simple, but tasty! Shrimp tempura appetizer ($14.85) was a pretty large sized dish. The pieces have a lot of crunchy batter and the kids loved it. It was a bit greasy, but that's to be expected. DH got a Oyako Donburi with sashimi ($21.93). Wow, the sashimi was truly amazing! So tender, it just melts in your mouth. The eggs were cooked with bamboo pieces which kinda threw DH off. I liked them, but DH would've preferred it without. The flavor is sweet/salty and pretty mild. It came with miso soup and some pickles. Parking is right in the front and backs into the main road. It can be spicy getting out if traffic is heavy. They don't have a lot of bathrooms, so there might be a wait. Those are the downsides. Otherwise, a wonderful local place to eat!
