My friend and I found this spot since it was one of the few still open later. As we were here near closing, they only had take out options. The restaurant is relatively spacious. The food here is affordable and the portions are great! I got the furikake chicken bowl, which was around $10. They really load it up with chicken and rice. We stopped by here last night for dinner around 7 pm. It really is like dining at someone's home kitchen! Our server was kind, she made a few suggestions. Food is Asian-local fusion. I ordered the meat Jun and furikake chicken combo plate with Mac salad which I enjoyed. However, the furikake chicken had a lot of pieces that felt like just skin or batter, only a handful of pieces that were real chunks of chicken. Mac salad was good. Meat Jun was about average. My mom had the kalbi and Korean chicken combo plate which she was not impressed with. She thinks it might've been overcooked or refried. She says she would not order again. So disappointed after reading reviews. My group ordered the orange chicken bowl, house chow mein and salt & pepper calamari. The service was quick to get the food out and the waitress never returned to see if we were happy with the food. I stopped here randomly after a coffee tour and oh my God what fortune did I strike. I got the wonton saimin and that was one of the best things I've ever eaten. The noodles were nice and hearty, the wontons were fat and savory, and the broth was perfectly seasoned. I also liked the little shrimps and the pork had great flavor. There's a wide selection of Chinese food, Hawaiian plates and boba. I love meat jun (tenderized beef dipped and fried in egg batter). Only had it once at a Korean restaurant back at home. Apologies for the pics, as we had already started eating. We went with appetizers after touring a coffee company down the road. The service was OK, the place wasn't the cleanest, but there was ample seating both indoors and outdoors. The chicken wings appear to be double fried and are crunchy as hell, which I love, but it wasn't seasoned at all. Shot out to Sriracha for the assistance. The pork lumpia and sweet and sour sauce was fine. Spam masubi was the best from what I ordered, it was a bit heavy on the rice and easily fell apart, but the sauce and flavor were great. Char sui pork was the least liked of what I ordered. It didn't seem bad when we started, but the longer it sat at the table...we'll it didn't age well. DAY 5 of Vacation - After a long day of hiking and exploring new beaches, we were ready for dinner! I found this spot while Yelping and figured it was time for some comfort food. We enjoyed their dishes so much we came back 2x! Parking: They have a small parking lot. Finding a spot can either be a hit or miss. We visited around 6pm on a weekday, and it was fairly easy. Free parking. Ambiance/Environment: This spot is located upstairs. They have a large space with plenty of indoor seating and limited outdoor seating. It was fairly clean inside. It gave more of a traditional Chinese setting. Service: There was only one server, and we forgot to ask for her name. She was quick and efficient. Throughput took under 10 minutes after ordering. They do speak broken English. Food: Portions are LARGE, so come with a big appetite! They have a large menu filled with traditional Chinese dishes and more. We ordered a lot of food, and as hungry as we were, we even had leftovers. I ordered the Shrimp Fried Rice, Crab Rangoon, Honey Walnut Shrimp, and Jasmine Green Milk Tea. The fried rice was cooked and seasoned well. The Crab Rangoon was the perfect appetizer. It was crunchy and had a good amount of cream cheese filling. The Honey Walnut Shrimp was sweet and not too citrusy. It paired perfectly with the fried rice. The Jasmine Green Milk Tea was basic and satisfied my boba craving. We visited again the day before we departed. I wanted to try something completely different, so I ordered the Chicken Katsu Burger w/ Garlic Cheese Fries. The burger was very basic and decent especially for its price. The fries were definitely garlicy, but I'd prefer the cheese to be more melted. Pricing: We thought it was definitely worth its price! As my go to restaurant while traveling to Kona and staying at Kona Coast Resort, I visited my favorite restaurant and ordered my House Fried Rice and a Mixed Chinese vegetable entree. While waiting I ordered my Boba drink which was mango slushy and it was refreshing and pleasant to drink while waiting. I also ordered my dim sum special of sesame balls that became my dessert. In San Francisco, I consider myself a dim sum expert especially sesame balls (sweet potato rolled covered with sesame seeds and deep fried to a crunchy taste). Was looking for a restaurant that open late as my friends and I were heading back from the Volcanos National Park. We settle on Ono Kitchen and couldn't be happier. Authentic Chinese food with big portions and so affordable. We ordered 3 dishes and it came to about $39. All our dishes were fresh, delicious and came to our table piping hot. We were informed we could eat inside the restaurant but the food would be served in takeout containers. We had The House Fried Rice, Green Beans with Pork and Fried Ginger & Green Onion Chicken. Delicious food in a local feeling location. When we walked in they asked if it was dine in or to go. We were dining in. The tables are spread out quite a bit as if they are following social distance protocols. The menu is extensive and hits on several different types of cuisine including a full breakfast menu, lunch specials, and dinner. There is a mix of authentic Chinese dishes as well as American versions. There really is so much to choose from. I opted for the veggie soup and the Singapore noodles with shrimp and extra spicy. The soup was served in a large bowl. It was loaded with tofu, egg, carrots, peas, celery, mushrooms and baby corn. It had an excellent flavor and thick consistency. It could have easily been split between two people. The Singapore noodles were fantastic! HUGE portions and perfectly seasoned. It was almost more than I could finish. Came here yesterday as we were on vacation and staying at an Air BNB nearby. The location is pretty nice, as it's a floor that is slightly elevated/alongside a hill. We chose to do carry out but the inside had a casual wood theme and seemed like a nice place to dine in. We ordered the sesame chicken, orange chicken (both just chicken no Mac salad or rice), a full side of beef fried rice, 2 bbq chicken masubis, and a mango slush (they ran out of boba). The portion size of the food is great! We are 2 full grown adult males and we still had left overs which was nice. The food quality was decent. I enjoyed the chicken which was crispy, as well as the fried rice had a nice flavor to it. The BBQ Chicken Masubi was decent, but could have been better. More people came in as we were leaving which was nice to see just how convenient and common it was to come here. We stayed on Keauhou Bay, a total food desert, and cruised the highway in search of good food. After finding some good places in Kailua-Kona, we ventured south in search of good food... and guess what?? -- we found good food at Ono Home Kitchen. Granted we missed the small sign and Google Maps led us into a coffee plantation on a very bumpy road first! I love Hawaiian/Asian food, my wife is vegetarian, and my kids like simple, common American food. Amazingly, we found it all here. The menu is impressive. It's located in a very quiet strip mall, not far from a trendy candy store that sells chocolate covered macadamia "balls." We ordered by phone and our food was piping hot and neatly packed. The clerk was very courteous and the restaurant was simple but clean. I loved the parquet wood floors. Not a bad view either. Next time we'll dine in. My kids had burgers and fries, my wife had kung pao tofu and hot and sour soup (n.b. it did have slices of spam inside), and I had the bbq mix. We also ordered shrimp fried rice. While driving towards Milolii to meet up with friends I stopped by the Ono Home Kitchen to pick up some takeout to bring to our friend's home. We walked in and there were no other customers there so I thought it would be quick because on Oahu Chinese restaurants are amazingly fast. I ordered a dry noodle with char siu and a takeout of roast pork. It took 15 minutes, which is pretty slow on Oahu when you are the only customer. We ate lunch about an hour and a half later. The roast pork kind of steamed in the container so we lost out on the crispy skin which was our fault for leaving the container closed. But, while the flavor was OK, the pork was a little on the dry side. The noodles were excellent. Next time I might stop by again just for these noodles. Perfectly fried and the texture of the noodles were just right even after sitting there for a while. read more

This place seems to be a fusion of Chinese and Hawaiian. Mostly. The menu is very extensive, and emphasizes a lot of Chinese flavors. The sign is not really obvious, but there is a sign visible from the road. Use google navigation, and park in the back. It's a tiny lot. We ordered the Loco Moco mix with pork katsu, the BBQ chicken saimin, the beef jun and furikake chicken, and the stir fry vegetable. The saimin is basically a soup. Noodle soup with BBQ chicken. It was tasty. Noodles were not mushy. Firm, yet yielding. The beef jun and furikake chicken were both very nice. Didn't blow my socks off, but the flavors were there. There was a soy sauce dip of some sort that added a bit of flavor. I agree with Ori (from the Hobbit): I don't like green food. Stir fry vegetables is mostly green food. I had some because it's good for me. Seemed like a pretty standard stir fry of vegetables. Nothing special. My wife agreed that it was good, but not great (she likes green food). The loco moco with pork katsu mix was tasty as well. Not fantastic, but tasty. Everything was properly cooked, but bland. They gave a dipping sauce for the katsu that helped it a lot. The gravy for the loco moco was only average compared to other loco mocos I have had. Overall, a perfectly adequate meal. Good-sized portions; we had to take some of it home.
