I was really bummed when the Vietnamese place that was here previously closed, but when I saw that a new place was moving right in, I was excited to give it a shot. After all, I love a good bowl of noodles and since today was rainy and cold, I figured this was as a good a day as any to drop in for lunch. We stopped in at about 12:30 and the place had a nice little crowd of Vietnamese folks enjoying their lunches: I took this as a really good sign. My friend and I are both Vietnamese food fanatics, so we decided that we were going to sample a few things just to get a feel of the place. I started by ordering a Vietnamese iced coffee. This came out in the traditional way, in the little brewer, with condensed milk at the bottom. I then poured it over ice in a glass and enjoyed. Don't you hate when it all come out already mixed? It was tasty and a great start to the experience. We decided to start with an order of pork spring rolls and fried egg rolls. The egg rolls came out first. There were four of them, they were big and served with fish sauce. Talk about delicious! The rolls had a lot of flavor and were cooked nicely with a flaky crust on the outside and deliciousness on the inside. The spring rolls came out next. The first thing I noticed was the peanut sauce: it was super thick and had some sriracha on top that we mixed in to add a little bit of a "kick" to it. I liked that the sauce was thick, but my dining companion didn't and would have liked it a little thinner. The spring rolls were good. My only tiny complaint would be less vermicelli noodles and maybe a little more pork. The pork was yummy, but there were a couple of bites where I got nothing but noodles. Finally, I ordered a large bowl of eye of round and brisket pho for $8 (#20 on the menu). WOW. This might be the largest "large" bowl of pho I have ever encountered! I could have gone swimming in this thing. They are extremely generous with the portions here and the bowl was packed with meat! The broth had a nice rich flavor and I could tell that this pho had definitely been cooking over night. All of the flavors melded together perfectly and no one flavor was more overwhelming than the other. It all mixed together wonderfully and made for an excellent lunch. My large bowl was so large that the waitress had to pack it up for me so that I could take it to go. Speaking of the waitress, she was super sweet and made sure that we had everything we needed. They were fast with getting the food out, but still gave us enough time so that we could enjoy each dish. My experience here was fantastic and I can't wait to return. I am eager to see what some of the other pho lovers have to say about this spot. I know that I am not as "seasoned" as some people, so I am eager to hear what folks with better tuned palates have to say about this bowl. I am encouraged that this place has only been open since Monday and there is already a nice crowd. I will be back soon. read more

This is our second time at Pho Kim Loan. My wife had two Phos and she thinks that the ingredients are very fresh and high quality. She's from Beijing and has been Pho for forty years, she thinks this is the most authentic Pho in America. I had shrimp Ban minh first time and the vermicelli shrimp today. I loved both. read more

Decided to try here after a friend had recommended this place, the place felt like there was no AC.. imagine eating a bowl of hot soup with no AC.. I hate to be wasteful.. but I used a lot of their napkins to wipe my dripping sweat.. So, my love of Pho is no secret to my millions of fans. Alright, maybe just my wife, my mum and a few friends who follow me. But irrespective of that, my love for Pho is still well established. This Pho is stellar on its own legs. The broth was a little on the weaker side, but still good. And why is it that every Pho place in NOLA, serves Pho with Jalapeno slices on the side, Instead of the customary Thai Chili peppers. The Thai Chili Peppers are such a better accompaniment for Pho. Thinned skin, so they add very little pepper flavor and mostly a moderate heat. But, this is not isolated to this one establishment, but to Pho restaurants overall. This is one of the best Viet restaurants I have been to. We went as a large group so I got to sample a lot of different dishes here. The Bún riêu was delicious. The broth has an amazing flavor and I'd recommend it to anyone that likes seafood broths. The Bún bò Hu was also great. The pieces of meat were plentiful and tender. The broth has a spicy flavor with a slightly sweet undertone. The last thing I tried was the Pho. The broth was rich and it was packed with meat, tripe, tendon, and noodles. They offer a large size as well. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting The Harvey area and looking for great, authentic Vietnamese food. read more

Nice little place on Lapalco. Our server was friendly, fast and attentive. Awesome Bun Bo Hue, soup was flavourful, noodles were a bit over cooked. But the pork knuckles more than make up for it. They were tender, and no pig hair was left on it!( I hate that nasty hair texture). Pork blood was great too, almost melt in my mouth. Best part of it were the bone marrows in the soup, yummy. We went here because our usual spot was closed today. Their customer service was fantastic! They were so sweet to my 2 yr old. My fiancé ended up having an upset stomach right as we got there so he didn't end up eating. They came back with fresh ginger and green tea for us to take home and make him to settle his stomach. To be a cliché they "went above and beyond". The food was good. My pork was seasoned perfectly. The eggrolls are a bit small but still good. We visited New Orleans a few days before Christmas 2018. It was a rainy windy cold day and we picked this place for dinner because it's only a few minutes from the hotel and it had good review especially Bún Bò Hu. We invited our relatives who live in West Bank. It's dark outside even though it's only 5:50pm, and with the heavy rain, there were deep puddles of water in front of the restaurant. There were a couple diners when we came in. It's pretty empty. We ordered shrimp/pork and beef spring rolls, and Bún Bò Hu. The waiter came back later and told us they were out of the pork bone and we were ok without it. The rolls came out and they were barely edible. Delicious! I came in at 5 pm for an early dinner. I was greeted immediately. I am in New Orleans for only a few days for work and I'm so happy that this restaurant is situated less than a block away from my hotel. I'm from California and I splurge when I can on phó. I have had phó in Cali, New Jersey, and now Louisiana... I am a true phó lover because I come to New Orleans not only for work, but to sample phó in Louisiana instead of other foods they are known for lol. As weird as that sounds and if it's not obvious enough, I'm a huge fan of phó. Although, every place has their own unique flavor, that flavor is comforting and familiar and more importantly, delicious!! I ordered their pork skin rolls (2 orders, 1 small bowl of the #5 phó, and a grilled pork rice plate). The bowl was generously filled with meats and they were super fresh! The broth was flavorful and noodles were just right. Of course it came with all the accoutrements of bean sprouts, fresh basil, jalapeños, and a giant wedge of lime (I love lime!). Give this place a try! Overall, good experience and they are very generous people (a lady's car broke down and they let her stay in the restaurant while she took car of business; getting her car towed and getting a rental car. This is my favorite Vietnamese restaurant! I always recommend this place for somewhere to go to get authentic Vietnamese food and also Bc they have plenty of options. My go to is the hu tieu. It's a clear noodle soup with a lighter broth than pho. They always load it with goodies. Might be a turn off if you're a picky eater but if you're open minded it's def well worth. The crab rangoons are really good and I also enjoy their banh mi's. They have the best mayo in my opinion for them. The pho is good but I usually get Hu tieu here so cant say much about pho. They checked on us multiple times and were very polite. The food taste great. Ordered the Beef Stew Pho for the first time and enjoyed it a lot. The Thai tea comes with whipped cream on top and is very tasty. My significant other ordered the egg noodles that came in a clear broth with sliced pork and quail eggs. It surprised us that it went fully vietnamese but we still gave it a try. To my surprise, they have the freshest goi cuon you will ever have. i love pho and when i saw this place was opening up i was looking forward to trying it. i ordered the large pho bowl with everything. there was plenty of meat. The brisket meat was too chewy and the other meat which looks like a net was chewy also. i don't know what thats called. i took both of those out of my bowl and place it on the plate. the broth lacked flavor and tasted watered down and was a little salty. i did not put any fish sauce in it. the service was nice and friendly. but that was the only highlight. needless to say i won't be going back. price is average but food is sup par. read more
