This place is almost 5 stars! I ordered standard pho tai nam and the noodle came almost perfect. This place really would be perfect pho place except for very minor stuff. But all those minor things add up. HOWEVER, the pho was fantastic! Meat was tender raw and soft and broth is so delicious bone broth. Could be the best broth I ever had! Few minor things were: table clean up was loudly disturbing, bean sprouts could be cleaner, menu items could have better photos, etc. I need to try other items, but this would be best pho place inside of New Orleans hands down! 6 years later and still my favorite pho spot! Not much has changed since my last review. It's still not fancy, but I love that about this little restaurant - coming here feels like home. If you're looking for a more modern feel then you should visit the Pho Bang near Bonnabel- but just a heads up, the pho is better at this location. They did add banh mi to the menu! They're prepared using fresh bread from Dong Phuong, and y'all know what that means.. these little sandwiches taste AMAZING. The grilled shrimp banh mi is my go to, and it's easily my new favorite item on their menu. However you still can't go wrong with #18 or #31. As always, the iced coffee is a must have and I rarely leave without getting one. And of course, my kids favorite thing about visiting the restaurant is the complimentary suckers at the cash register. First, the broth is absolutely amazing! It had a nice rich, deep flavor that seemed to have been simmering for some time. The crab Rangoon were also great: a bit sweet, creamy, and meaty. I could not tell whether the crabmeat was real crabmeat, but the flavor was still nice. The sweet and sour sauce that comes with them was extremely light and not overly sweet. On the downside, we did not receive our chicken. The variety of vegetables were also on the low side as compared to other pho joints I have tried. We eat at Pho Bang in all the time and it's very good. The service is good. The food is good. So I was out with my granddaughter and we wanted to go to pho in Metairie. However it was closed on Sunday so we decided to go and try the one in Kenner. Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how disappointed I was. There was music playing in the kitchen very loudly. There was music playing in the dining room, and this was the music that the restaurant uses for the guests. Then there were two kids at a table. Each of them had their iPhones listening to TV shows. In one corner there was a restaurant worker with his shoes off who had them wrapped around the table listening to his show. All these different noises was very distracting and gave me a headache almost immediately. I asked them to stop one of the music and they told me all the kitchen staff has to to listen to their music and we have music on for the guests. I can understand they don't have any control over what other peoples children do however they do have control over what the staff does in the kitchen and what one of the workers do while eating. Delicious!! This place is so good! A friend of mine recommended that we go here and we happened to be driving by and just popped in. We got the lemongrass chicken which was so much better than I thought it was going to be! The chicken was so tender and full of flavor. We also got the beef brisket pho and that was super delicious as well. OH! And the fried egg rolls! Omg! So goooood! The staff was nice and super attentive especially with our toddlers. I love this pho spot! I have tried the one in metairie and also the one on manhattan. The food is always on point. My favorite is the pho(I can't tell you which one off the top of my head) and then the crispy spring rolls/summer rolls and crab rangoons have been yummy. The little pork sliders are amazing as well! My sister has tried the rice and meat from there and she absolutely loves it! They never skimp out on the food and every single that I have tried has always been fresh! I feel guilty going against the grain with this one but the lack of service and informing me that they do not have "tap" water for the patrons has me pondering if they cook their soups with the 5 gallon jugs of Ozarka water or what? I base most of my reviews on a 5 prong notation so the only thing I can say is one star for the price and another star for the food. Not one visit to my table and it was not even during a lunch rush (don't judge me, I tip pretty good, I used to be a server too), minus one star because there is no such thing here as "tap" water (I did not see any purified Fuji 5 gallon jugs anywhere) and how long were they going to let the tables where patrons sat and ate go before bussing them? Best Pho I've had so far in New Orleans. I still haven't been to West End area where there's supposed to be the "best" Vietnamese food but coming from San Francisco where I eat Pho very very often, this place has the closest thing to authentic Pho. Their broth was been cooked properly for hours and the quality of the noodles is fantastic. Their prices are also extremely reasonable and I feel like the newer generation of Pho restaurants lose their authentic broth taste. Newer restaurants like Pho Orchid and Lilly's have a sweeter broth which isn't how pho normally tastes and they are charging 11 dollars a bowl. You can get an extra large bowl for under 7.50 here at Pho bang. Overall, excellent prices, authentic broth and decent service. Also their 3 bean drink is really good for only 3 dollars. read more

Dropped by on a Saturday around lunch time to eat and left happy! For starters this location can get crammed and packed in the parking lot due to the shopping center location. Around the restaurant they have tons of stores where the car spaces fill up quick. After entering the restaurant it was super crowded with families eating. Once entered we were seated right away and were given menus to order from. We went ahead and ordered the standard beef pho with soy bean milk and iced tea. The vegetables platter that compliments the pho were fresh as can be with nice vibrant colors coming from the thai basil and chili peppers. The bean sprouts were nice and firm with a crisp of water splash when biting into them. They even laced us up with more limes then needed for our pho. The pho was nicely garnished with thin white sliced onions and a beautiful arrangement with cilantro and green onions. The temperature of the broth was piping hot while the noodles were perfectly cooked al dente! The broth was nice and light in flavor with the aromatics from the star anise, cinnamon, cloves, and coriander were all there in taste and smell. They do not offer ice water but sell bottled water and on the utensil rack they offer your spoons, and chopsticks with your basic hoisin sauce and chili sauce. They didnt have the little dipping saucers to mix the sauces to dip your meat in and enjoy the pure essence of the broth so we ended up using out veggie platter for the dipping sauces. Great place to have some pho but be sure to eat quick especially on weekends since this place is pushing people in and pushing them out as quick as can be! read more

I have been craving Vietnamese food for a while so I got take out. I ordered pork spring rolls, fried egg rolls, and chicken pho. Now I don't like egg rolls but I love Pho bangs egg rolls. They are delicious with the fish sauce. The spring rolls were tasty but I should have stuck with the usual shrimp spring rolls. I prefer those to the pork. The chicken pho was good but not what I have come to expect from them. All in all I enjoyed my food & the service was top notch. read more

My disabled Mom was feeling under the weather, so I recommended she try some Pho. I live in Texas and the restaurants here are amazing. A friend of hers also made the same suggestion. My niece went to the get the order. The veggies were just as I had described - so my Mother was excited. I get a text from her saying she is throwing up ; after having tried the soup. She said the broth had a good taste, but the "chicken" looked like a sponge. When I got pictures of what was supposed to be meat - I was grossed out. I ask my niece to go back to let them know what has happened; as they might at least offer her the money back. However, since they did not give her a receipt and all she had was there sickening soup with a copy of their menu as proof of her visit- they did nothing. Food tasted below average for me. Broth tasted straight from the seasoning can/container, not from beef bones IMO. The rice dish was bland. The pork chop was quite dry and hard, not even with broken rice traditionally. Fish sauce served with rice was not impressive. Egg rolls were affordable but nothing special. 1 thing we disliked was you have to buy a water bottle. They don't offer free water. Not even tap water. This used to be my absolute favorite pho place in the whole area but it's less than mediocre now. Service is very slow. My pho was super oily and didn't taste at all how it did before. I will say, my son does love to come here though. He loves to look at all the fish in the fish tanks. Once you sit they slide the menus on the table and walk off. My family and I have been coming here for years and the generation that run it now are just plain mean.
