I ordered takeout and after paying I opened the container to put some napkins, hot sauce and brown sauce in my grilled chicken vermicelli , the old lady yelled and said "did I pay for that". The service incredibly sucks here. The taller girl with the glasses was really rude and quite aggressive when talking to me and my friends. The noodles in the pho were harder than at any other place I've been to. It is almost like it wasn't boiled long enough. I've been coming here for a long time and have watched this shop go from this tiny unpopular restaurant into a restaurant that is usually booming with service! That being said, the restaurant changed ownership a fews years back and they no longer have some of my favorite foods and also now the service isn't as amazing, although it is still good in my experience. As a Vietnamese, I have never tasted a bad Bun thit nuong cha gio - vermicelli noodle with grilled pork and egg rolls - until today. The sauce tasted like raw fish sauce mixed in water, no sweetness or tanginess as it's supposed to taste. The service was horrible - that already in consideration I'm used to the bad service at Asian restaurants in general. We had to get up to ask for menu after sitting down for 15 minutes. Then another 10 minutes passed before a waitress came and asked "you ready" without asking us about drinks. This evening my daughter and I went to have some Pho soup for dinner. The waitress came over and threw the menu down on the table and just walked away. Never did she say hi or hello. This puzzled me. She is always rude never says a word even when she gives you the check. But this time I went up to her and asked what is the problem. She tells me I never tip. I tell her I will not tip when the service is piss poor. I use to tip her but then I am reinforcing bad service. So be careful when you go to this place to eat. Poor service from the wait staff. With my new found expertise on Pho, I took the MIL to Pho Nhu Vu for her first Pho experience at 83 years of age. Bear Yelpers are right on, the pho here is as good as any. The staff is so nice and helpful; they knew I was helping someone with their first experience and smiled at my instructions. We ordered beef broth Pho with veggies and tofu. The broth was so flavorful and everything in it was cooked perfectly. The MIL loved the Pho spoons and the fact that they were easy to sip from and she loved the bright colors of the fresh vegetables; she could not wait to get home to tell BFF Bunny (92) about her experience. I told her she needed one more new experience and ordered a strawberry pearl smoothie; our adorable server split it between two glasses for the full effect. The black pearls of tapioca took a bit getting used to and then with gusto she slurped her first black pearl smoothie; BFF Bunny is going to be so envious. I cannot say worth the drive because we have Pho 95 in Denver but definitely worth a visit when we are visiting the MIL. read more

I was here 13 days ago, and I can't stop myself to put a honest review of this place. Let's begin with the restaurant, the restaurant have dirty tables, dirty chopsticks, and spoons. The overall decoration is only around 2 stars. Then, the staff is super rude and never bring out water or tea. Also, the waitress calling customer cheap in their face because they didn't leave enough tips for no service.The Vietnamese food here isn't authentic and not legit. The rice noodle pho is hard and undercook. I really want to ask the owner what the phoc are those. Also, there must be some kind of discrimination from the waitress, she never bring us water like how she bring out the ice water for the Caucasian customers on the right side of the store in less than 30 seconds. I used to live right down the street from this place so it was frequently a place I ate at. I really enjoy the Pho here; it isn't the most flavorful broth but it is still very yummy. I really like going here because its a good in and out kind of restaurant without having to eat fast food. The service here is either really good or really bad I have found; usually there is not a middle ground. I have had servers that were happy to help, volunteered suggestions and were on point but on the other hand I have had servers treat me like I was inconveniencing them. I've been coming to this establishment for a couple of years now, unfortunately there isn't a Vietnamese restaurant anymore in my town of Dover but this spot was tucked nicely next to my ex's house in a regular old shopping plaza so I had to try. I absolutely fell in love! I always get the steak pho, DELICIOUS. I've come to know that there are 2 types of pho...this one I like, the other has a more strong, and bit of aftertaste (e.g., Pho Cali on Kirkwood) I think it depends on what part of Vietnam the cook is from. There is a sister restaurant in Middletown I used to frequent because it was closer to my home, however I discontinued due to horrible service and the owner was rude as hell. Not sure if they are owned by same ppl or what but they have same name and similar menu. The spring rolls (fresh and fried) are "ok" but do not pass up on the pho when you come if anything! Wayyyy cleaner than Pho Cali on Kirkwood by far, so after weighing pros and cons and working in a Vietnamese restaurant for 5 years I'd say this is the best pho spot within Kent and Sussex County. I don't think they serve alcohol either. The Middletown one has a large bar and bigger dining area to accommodate parties. The Bear location does not. read more

Sorely disappointed in this restaurant. Ordered veggie pho and it came with a few raw carrots and broccoli. The most important part of the dish, the broth, did not taste like pho broth. My husband and I use to eat here once a month. For pho in DE region, they were better than others. It use to be decent; not having to add tons of sriracha and hoisin sauce. After they opened the 2nd store, the quality went down hill. Pho is all about flavorful broth and the meat is rare. Food was very good and reasonably-priced for Vietnamese. Order the extra large meatball and sliced meat pho, summer rolls and the grilled pork with rice and spring rolls. It was one of the best vietnamese restaurant in DE 2 years ago. When i visited today, all dishes were such a disappointment. There were two sizes of noodle soups but there was not difference between regular or large. The only difference was the sizes of bowls but the amounts of noodles were the same. I ordered a beef noodle soup, my friend ordered a seafood noodle soup. Both soups were tasteless as water. The price was fair but I am not sure if i will visit again. read more

Food is decent but the service is incredibly bad. I went there twice. Yes, I went there 2nd time just to give the local business a chance but no more. Both times as we walked in - no one to greet us. A lady in the back pointed her finger to a table to be seated ourselves - as we did enthusiastically to enjoy our dinner after long day at work. There was only 1 table occupied in the entire restaurant by a couple. We walked in around 8:45 pm. Going back to service - server was visibly rude while taking order. Her attitude and gesture was like we were in military training camp. She was like "What do want?". We said "Thank you" after she took order but no response from her--she had no courtesy whatsoever. She never checked at least a once if we needed anything during the meal. Never asked if we liked the food, etc. Half away of the meal she left the bill at the table and not a single word came from her. Yes, it was dreadful attitude right from the beginning. We never got a thank you. An older man came middle of the dinner and asked us to hurry because he was going to close the restaurant at 9pm as if we over stayed. I'll never ever go there again just because of the service. I would rather support other local businesses who are friendly. read more
