The store is very clean and tidy. There were plenty of staff in the store keeping things in place, helping customers with questions and also do the checkouts. We bought some greeting cards, stickers and a kid's story book from the store. Prices were decent for all the items. The checkout process was quick and easy.

I'm happy there's a huge used bookstore in Burlington since the two stores on Church Street carry mostly overpriced new books, and there are some other issues I have with these two stores, so I don't shop at either. I have already found some great used books at Speaking Volumes, and hope to find more in future. The Fiction/Literature section is voluminous, and I'm hoping that eventually the Sci-Fi is separated from the Fantasy--that's an old categorization that was already outdated in the 80s. The Mystery section is pretty nice with Christie, Hammett, Chandler, and others. Overall, this place is a reader's dream.

The shop is small and the staff didn't look up when I came in. They spoke to the regulars and chastised a customer for opening a bagged back issue but it was otherwise silent. They have the comics on racks separated by companies but no New Release section for monthly comics. It made browsing kind of difficult. I bought a trade paperback, a reprint floppy and a monthly issue of a new series. The tpb shelves were packed too tight in some places so there were pressure points on some of the books. I did appreciate the amount of ABSOLUTES and oversized hardcovers, though. Overall, I would go back again but I don't know that I would go out of my way.

I got a phone call while I was in the store and he rudely hand motioned a "cut it out single" and said NO PHONE CALLS IN HERE. I laid my shirt at the front desk and took my call outside. Noting posted, no signs anywhere saying no calls or phones, came back to get my shirt and asked for it, he told me that he put it back in a rude tone and nasty facial expression. I then was direct and asked "why so rude to a customer that's never been here before" He acted as if he had no idea why I'd think that. Told me I was rude because I laid my shirt down.
