Today's adventure brought us to the neurology clinic for my daughter's EEG, and let's just say... asking a little one to stay still for a two-hour test deserves an Olympic medal. From the moment we walked in, I was impressed. The clinic is spotless, bright, and easy to find since it's conveniently located next to the emergency department. It immediately felt welcoming, which is always appreciated when you're already a little nervous about your child's appointment. Now, the EEG itself? Two hours is a long time in toddler world. We had moments of cooperation, moments of "I'm done," and moments where my daughter made it very clear she had other plans for the day. Through it all, the medical assistants were absolute angels. They were so patient, calm, and incredibly kind, never making us feel rushed or stressed. As a parent, you never want to see your child go through medical testing, but having a team that leads with kindness and grace makes all the difference. They turned what could have been a long, overwhelming day into one where we felt genuinely cared for every step of the way. Hopefully, we won't need another two-hour EEG anytime soon... but if we do, I'm thankful we'll be in such caring hands. read more

Do not schedule an appointment with Phoenix Children's Hospital, in particular with the audiology department. They change insurances frequently and without warning and engage in predatory business practices to blackmail desperate parents into paying for overpriced tests out of pocket. My family was referred to them by our pediatrician for a routine hearing test for our two year old son. Phoenix Children's Hospital made the appointment, and booked us over five months out. The wait was unreasonable but because we did not need the test until school started in the fall, we agreed to wait. Two weeks before the appointment, they called us after hours to tell us the appointment we had waited nearly six months for was now going to be out of network, because they had decided to stop carrying our insurance in March, over three months after the appointment was scheduled. The representative confirmed that the scheduling department had been fully aware that our appointment would not be covered when they scheduled the appointment and had scheduled it anyway. The representative informed us that it would be a thousand dollars for the routine test and we could give them a fourth of it up front. There is no reason they would wait until right before the appointment to inform parents that they are not covered unless they are intending to bully desperate parents who have waited months for help for their children to keep their appointments and pay high costs they cannot afford. Thankfully, we were able to reschedule with a different children's audiologist. They were not booked out six months and could see our son only three weeks after the original appointment. I highly recommend Accent Audiology and Hearing, phone number 602-863-4203, if you want a faster appointment for a hearing test that takes most insurances. Again, I cannot recommend Phoenix Children's Hospital, which is more concerned with making money off of parents than caring for actual children. read more

Had to take my son to the ED on 3/17/2026 at about 9:30am due to complications from a chronic illness. The check in process was quick and efficient. Staff was kind and addressed my son with care. Triage was fast as well. All nursing staff were attentive and supportive. The wait for a room was 10 minutes at the most. Doctor was pleasant and attentive. She was thorough in explaining and answered all questions. No rush. His nurse was the best. He didn't do anything without explaining it first. He kept the mood up and positive and was a great encouragement for my son. We were grateful for all the staff who showed great care and support with professionalism and expertise. I love that their network of communication and technology allows the ED team to see necessary information and history of the situation so they can make sound decisions for the best care of their patients. I also appreciated receiving lab results through the hospital portal system. Highly recommend. read more

Son came in with severe stomach bug/impaction symptoms. We were there for under 2 hours and they provided great care for my son. He was treated with such gentleness and kindness, as were we. I'd highly recommend their ER department to all my friends with kids. read more

My son was referred here for an ENT consult appointment. I was nervous going in because my son HATES his ears being messed with and I did not know what to expect. The front desk staff, medical assistant, audiologist, and ENT were all amazing. Super patient with my son, really good at explaining options to me. I brought my son here a few months ago and was lucky to have a great experience with everyone we encountered. Check in was smooth and quick for us. I felt bad for the family in front of us who had 3 adults, and were told only 2 could go back with the child. I understand protocol is protocol though. Once we were in a room, the nurse was helpful and knowledgeable. The doctor came in soon after. I cannot say enough good things about his bedside manner, how he talked to my 8 year old and made sure he understood what was happening in terms he could understand, the Dr was very patient with my son, and my many questions. Billing was easy and quick. I hope to never have to come back here, but if I do, I feel like we would be in great hands. read more

Dear PCH as you can see from my numerous posts since we have gotten nowhere with your billing department. I have taken this public, we are faced with a bill that exceeds standard billing afforded to most insured persons because unlike insurance carriers who have contracts with you, we do not, and we were charged way more than full price as a result. The doctors who kept us for 8 days also misrepresented the facts when I asked daily if we could leave after several days of 24-hour antibiotics because just as I had been professing, PCH was quietly racking up a bill to the tune of 10K a day. Your billing department had zero problem offering to reduce this hyper inflated bill by 50% because why not? It was inflated 80% in the first place so what kind of legal non discount is that? My son required emergency care and while I appreciate the help, your aftercare was deplorable, and your billing has proven to be questionable at best. I'd like to pay you but I am not going to be taken for a ride, nor should any family seeking help from your doctors and staff. read more

Wow--this place is absolutely incredible! We live in Central Phoenix and took our 11-month-old to the ER on Thomas Rd for a severe allergic reaction, only to be told there was an 8-hour wait. When we decided to leave, a kind woman at the front desk recommended this new location, Phoenix Children's Arrowhead Campus which was a 30-minute drive but completely worth it! From the moment we arrived, the care was outstanding. Hubert met us at the car and was phenomenal--his kindness and genuine concern for our son meant so much. Adriana at the front desk was also amazing, getting us checked in quickly with such warmth. Dr. Raghib reassured us and gave clear instructions on how to care for our baby. The facility was clean, efficient, and provided top-notch care. I'm beyond grateful we found this place--five stars all around! read more

What even just happened? We took our 10-month-old to Phoenix Children's Hospital when he had COVID, a sustained fever of 101-102°, and a sleeping heart rate around 190bpm -- well above normal ranges for an infant. When I asked whether that was concerning, the RN told me not to worry about the numbers. She literally said "I don't care about the numbers." That seems odd, at best. I asked the other nurse whether heart rate and breathing were connected (because we have no way to count respiratory rate while he sleeps). She said no, while putting both her hands on her head in frustration. She asked me, "why are you so focused on his heart rate?" Then she actually said "I'm turning off this monitor so you stop looking at it", talking about his HR monitor. I don't have to be a doctor to know this is basic physiology: they absolutely are linked. They told us they wouldn't worry unless his sustained heart rate was 'over 250.' For context, any pediatric textbook says sustained HR over 180-200 at rest should be evaluated, and 220+ can mean an emergency arrhythmia like SVT. Even with a 10-20bpm bump for each degree in fever, telling us not to worry until it passes 250 is just negligent. I wasn't expecting heroics, but I also wasn't expecting our provider to tell us not to care about our baby's vitals or temperature. When your baby can't speak, vitals are the early warning signs. Telling parents to ignore them while also saying 'watch for lethargy' in a sleeping infant makes no sense. It comes off as dismissive and rushed -- and I suspect our state insurance status didn't help. Parents: Trust your gut. Document the numbers. I'm sure this hospital has some good people, but when you're the only advocate for your baby, you cannot afford to be gaslit. If you feel brushed off for asking basic questions and being worried about your baby's vitals, you're not the problem. That's their job. I don't care how tired you are. If you can't do this job with grace and patience at midnight, find a different job; kids' lives depend on it. We expected pediatric professionals to connect the dots between fever, dehydration, and HR -- instead, we got brevity and frustration. We'll be finding a pediatric team that respects both the numbers and the parent instincts next time. read more

Wonderful check in/triage staff and wonderful nurses. The doctor however could definitely work on her bedside manner. I don't enjoy taking my kids into the doctor or ER and we're definitely not frequent flyers. So when my daughter presented with a rash shortly after starting amoxicillin, we took her here. Nothing like spending $200 for the dr to walk in, glance at my daughter and diagnose her with EM. Didn't touch the rash. Didn't look at her awful mouth sores. We gave her benedryl the night we left PCH and wouldn't you know it... her rash started to slowly clear up. By Saturday it was almost completely gone. It wasn't EM. But more than likely an amoxicillin rash. I'm not a doctor, so a childhood rash can be 1 of 300 things but her rash didn't even look like EM at all. if it hadn't been for the other amazing staff there I would have definitely given them a one star review. read more

Horrible experience!!!! Today 4/18, my daughter's and I came to PCH ED - Arrowhead location due to one of my daughter experiencing pain 7-10. checking in was fine. The triage nurses were very nice. It all went downhill as soon as we were taken back to exam room. My daughter was asked to change into a gown in the restroom. Min(s) later an unidentified woman came in didn't say who she was, and asked if I was the pt, I said no, I'm mom, my daughter is in the restroom changing. The woman said- we cannot see your daughter due to her age.. I then tried to explain that couple months ago my daughter was seen at 16th street location for the same reason without any problem and they were able to help her did a minor procedure, and actually they were the ones to tell me if my daughter had any recurrent symptom to head back. She told me I was wrong and that they only see 18 y/o or younger. My daughter is less than 21. She then recommended me to take my daughter to AAH (across the street) or to be transferred to AAH, at that moment when she was telling me of the above my daughter walked in to exam room, I asked my daughter to go back and get dress. This woman then tells me my daughter needs to sign AMA because I was going against her medical advice.. I was speechless!!!! This woman never did evaluation on my daughter. I tried to explain to her that AMA didn't make any sense, she became very condescending towards me and walked away. Moments later a RN came in with AMA paper telling me that we declined transfer to AAH- are you kidding me?! Like, I'm going to get bill from ambulance to cross the street!!. -(This is only the short version) my daughter was scared and she sign ( I wish she hadn't) and I'm disappointed that I didn't stop her. I was so angry, I kept telling myself don't make a sense at a children's hospital!! I then reacted as I was walking out and asked to speak with a supervisor. Two very nice supervisors ladies came out and listened to my concerns and what had happened to us. I asked that my daughter AMA paper be disregarded since she never received medical care, the signature was done because she was scared and felt cornered, they agree to do so. They explained to us that less then year ago PCH went through a change and they are only taking less than 18y/o. But they're still mandated to eval and take it from there which none of this was done to my daughter. I was told by them that the unidentified woman was the doctor. This makes me very sad. To all the parent out there even if you kiddo is 18 or 19 years old do not go here!! I hope no one has to ever experience this. read more

It was our second visit since opening. They did a fantastic job taking care of our 3 year old who had a really bad fall. They were above and beyond taking care of her, reassuring us, explaining things and asking questions. We are so fortunate to have it so close with our very energetic rambunctious kiddos. read more

Conveniently located to us. What a beautiful hospital inside and out. They keep it very clean ! The minute we checked in the staff was very friendly. The triage nurse was very attentive to my daughter and empathetic. The nurse that took us back to our room was very friendly and kind to my daughter. The PA came in and was thorough and prescribed an anabiotic and recommended over-the-counter ear drop relief as well. Even if you don't live in the area, I definitely recommend this hospital. This was the worst experience i've ever had at a hospital. It was suggested that my 2 yr old daughter get an IV to help with hydration. I was a bit nervous because i didn't want to hurt her. I understand IVs can hurt, i've gotten plenty of them done while i was pregnant and before. The issue was that they seemed inexperienced. The nurse who inserted the IV was laughing with her coworker mentioning that she's not the best at inserting IVs while my daughter was screaming and crying so much that at some point nothing was coming out. What was also irritating me was that they were forcing the IV in. They kept pushing it in and out when it was clear that they couldn't find the vein anymore. You can tell by the scar that was left, was not just a poke. Labs were ordered but they didn't get enough blood for one of them because again, the IV wasn't set in place correctly for blood to come out. They tried blaming it on her being dehydrated??? Which does not make sense because it's not like her whole body ran out of blood, again i knew it was because the IV wasn't placed correctly. As i said before, they forced it in too much that it was actually sticking up inside her skin. They tried pushing it down with a lot of tape. Overall throughout the whole process they were just laughing. One of the other nurses came in and asked the nurse who placed the IV if she did something (i can't remember the name of something she was supposed to add while doing the IV) and she looked confused because she missed a step. He even told her "I'll talk to you about it outside". They were trying to whisper but I overheard everything. Not only that but when I had suggested she was getting a fever and they checked her temp, they said she wasn't that she was fine. 30 mins later her temperature spiked at 104. That's when they decided to give her medicine and her heart rate also spiked up to 190. Everything seemed so unprofessional. I forgot to mention that even when connecting her to the drip bag, she did not wipe her IV with an alcohol wipe. I've gotten a lot of IVs and every single time they wipe it down. read more

Took my 8 month old with no expectations as this was our first time at this hospital . Check in staff and some nurses were ok but the main nurse who "specializes" in ivs was very entitled and rude . We have a "bracelet" (she was very ignorant of its significance and kept saying she'll have to cut it off) that by no means should it be taken off by no one other than our "priest" and at some point was indirectly insulting not only my religious beliefs but my wife and I . Kept saying we have an ego and saying that the bracelet doesn't mean nothing and all this because the "only vein she could find" was on that arm and as soon as we told her to look elsewhere she poked his foot before looking for the vein ,AGAIN, kept making comments about my kid who's ONLY 8 months old ( the entitled/snobby/rude/ignorant nurse is probably in her 40s with really dark hair and a pixie haircut) . As soon as they got another nurse guess what happened ???? They found a perfectly good vein on the opposite foot with no issues whatsoever and thankfully to those nurses he's gotten better . Once we got admitted we had the most caring nurses on the third floor and couldn't thank them enough. If you bring your child I advise you to turn that lady away because her words didn't match any of her work. Supposed to be the best IV nurse (her words) but for one she poked him for no reason adding stress to my child, was very rude/entitled and almost made us leave from how uncomfortable we were. read more

Never ever ever take an infant here! This was the worst experience of my life without exception. These incompetent useless people tortured my 3 day old daughter for about 12 hours. We went in because she was not eating well and she was a little jaundice and we wanted to make sure that the jaundice was not getting worse and needed light therapy. They started by having us stand in line with a bunch of sick people and have her vitals checked like we were coming in on Ellis Island. They then treated her so rough when taking her vitals she was screaming. They then had us wait in the lobby where usually they get infants back because of low immunity, I took her outside to wait. Then they called us back, set an IV and tried to draw from a newborns arm, WHICH COULD SERIOUSLY HARM HER! We tried to tell them but they would not listen and said that "oh we are able to". They must have tried six times, manipulating blood messes with potassium and other things so when they finally gave up and pricked her foot, they found that potassium was off, and said she does not have jaundice. They then started to run test after test all the while giving this little girl nothing, not even suger water for the pain. Things are going the right way now that she got formula, but they keep wanting to run test. The nurse even said "oh looks like she just had a bad day eating" This doctor comes in and said she is worried about meningitis and genetic defects after about 9 hours of being there and they stressed this girl out and messed with her blood. They wanted to do a SPINAL TAP! even though literally everything that was going on with her blood work could be explained by eating to little and all the stuff they were doing to her. Its like this was someone off the street and was looking stuff up things on WebMD and was testing every possible cause. There was no concern for the invasiveness of the procedure, deductive reasoning that if every symptoms is related to one cause, no concern for my daughters comfort or my wives comfort who just had a baby three days ago. She started lecturing my wife how she needs to be selfless for our daughter and telling us several times that babies need to eat. Duh! Why do you think we are here.They literally told us that pumping breast milk should be painful! I asked about leaving and signing an AMA because this is horrible and they said they would call CPS on us. We said we need to go somewhere else with compotent people and we will not stay there, they were not touching her anymore. So we got a transfer to a Banner University, the doctor at this hell hole told us "oh they are going to do the same thing there" we get to Banner, the doctor immediately says "oh seems like she did not eat well for a day" and says "all the blood work is fine" we will just monitor her.Turns out she was jaundice which was making her tired and not eating enough. All the nurses at Banner were shocked that they tried to draw blood from the IV and did not do anything to control her pain. They were so good at Banner University, they ran a culture for possible infection not a spinal tap. Surprise Surprise literally everything we told the staff and Phoenix Children was correct, she was a little jaundice and causing trouble eating. We got her sunlight and a little formula before my wife's milk came in and she is fine. Absolutely nothing wrong with her. read more
