We always have fun at Phoenix Fan Fusion, a/k/a comicon. I only go one day each year, and that's enough for me--it is exhausting. There are so many things to do. First, this place is a shoppers dream for someone who likes collectibles. The hall is huge and has stall after stall if tshirts, books, collectible figures, and art. There are samples of beer and liquor (with I.D. if course), and meet and greets with celebrities--this year John Cena was a biggie, but I personally was happy to see Like and Kirk from Gilmore Girls and Steve from the original Blues Clues. Elsewhere in the convention center was a Hall with some STEM exhibits, a cool insect exciting, a Lego display, and a medieval area with fencing. There are video games spread throughout, and a huge room for Pokemon Go. There are so many breakout sessions going on all day--anything from "Mr. Rodger's Art of Kindness" to "How to Create Cosplay Pieces with EV Foam" to Improv. Of course the panels with celebrities and comic book creators are super popular. Of course there is food available at Fan Fusion, but we choose to eat outside if the convention center. My favorite things (besides the plethora of Labubus) is the cosplay. If it's fun to see all the effort people have put in! Parking is, as you'd expect, difficult. I've been going to Phoenix Fan Fusion (ComiCon before they changed names) for about the last 15 years, and the steady decline has been sad to see. This trip was likely my last. First, whatever genius had the bright idea to eliminate the possibility of purchasing a ticket the day of at the event, without a phone, should be immediately fired. My phone died about 30 minutes before getting there (not a battery charge issue, it literally bricked on me) so I went to the table and asked to purchase tickets on site. These bafoons have absolutely NO WAY to sell you a ticket using a credit card unless you have a phone. How is that even possible? Not a single hand held payment device anywhere to sell a ticket, in 2026? So my only option was to use a strangers phone to input my credit card, because they wouldn't accept cash. Absolutely mind blowing. Second, crowd management was a joke. No strucutre, no line management, just pure chaos. We got there around 1 PM, it's 100 degrees, and we had to wait probably 20 minutes just to get through the security entrance outside because they have NO IDEA how to run this event. Then as we proceeded to enter the west entrance, they turned us all away and said we have to go across the street to enter. These people have no idea how to run a venue this size. So completely disjointed and unorganized. You could barely walk the exhibitor hall it was so crowded and it was easily a 25 minute wait just to buy a bottle of water (which by the way cost $6.00). They were completely unprepared to serve the needs of the fans; sad and pathetic. And by the way, how about scheduling your event for a weekend when the Diamondbacks don't play at home, what a mess. Third, Fan Fusion used to be a place where the focus was on sharing and experiencing creativity and fandom with other fans. Now it's turned into nothing more than a money gouging cash grab, which is evident by how they only care about getting as many people in as possible, despite their crews not being able to handle that type of event. $250 for three of us, and that gets you nothing but through the door and maybe a chance to sit on one of the panels that most people could care less about. The on-site vendors and the celebrities with their signing prices gouge you. What they charge you just to get through the door is criminal. There was nothing pleasant about this experience. I use to look forward to this, but it's not what it use to be. The spirit of creativity and entertainment is no longer the essence of this event; it's turned into nothing more than an opportunity to exploit loyal fans. read more

This is the Valley's version of San Diego Comic-Con. It got its start over twenty years ago as a small one-day event that celebrated all things that we love about comic books, science fiction/fantasy, film/television and pop culture. Since those early days, this event has grown to a three-day event that is now held at the Phoenix Convention Center. It gets bigger every year and more and more celebrities are added to the event. I have been to a number of these Phoenix Fan Fusion events over the years and enjoy seeing the cosplay outfits that people come up with. This event was once called Phoenix Comicon before San Diego Comic-Con threatened a lawsuit. So now they are called Phoenix Fan Fusion. I have been to a couple of San Comic-Cons in the past and have always been overwhelmed with how large that event is. It is the granddaddy of all of these comic events. Phoenix Fan Fusion has made a name for itself and has really grown to be a very large event with record number of crowds each year. I am not a big collector, but I do enjoy walking around the merch area and seeing all of the cool things people are selling. The cosplay outfits are so creative and fun to see. Maybe one year I will wear one of my own - who knows. I grew up a lover of comic books and I am a huge fan of Sci-Fi and fantasy movies. This event brings me back to my childhood. I also enjoy attending the celebrity panels. I am not really into autographs as the prices are way too high for me. But I occasionally will participate in the some of the photo-ops if there is an actor whose work I appreciate. I have a couple of friends who are big comic book fans that I like to go with. The recent MCU and DC movies have really made the comic book genre a big thing these days. When I was a kid, I got teased for being a Star Wars and comic book fan. Now it is cool to be a nerd like I was. How times have changed. Overall, Phoenix Fan Fusion is a good time if you are a fan and appreciate pop culture. The lines and autograph and photo op prices are insane, so I mostly go for panels and to people watch. read more

This time around (we were here in 2016 and 2017) we decided to hit it up on a Friday instead if all weekend. It was great to be out and have the option of being mask free; I'm sure both the vendors, guests and visitors alike were hurting the last couple of years during the Pandemic. Entry lines were long but moved steadily and quickly with the numerous heck in spots . Same goes for the Weapons and Security checkpoints. There were plenty of schedule mags and the Lost and Found was pretty on the ball. Lots of people everywhere and I had the feeling Saturday and Sunday had even more. I enjoyed various panels and especially the "cosplay hospital" of sorts where they had tools and assistance for mending costumes (like mine). The fact all colors, ages etc can get together and having fun is never a bad time. I recommend going if you've never been before! read more

We have been going to the Phoenix Fan Fusion since about 2017 and we love it. I will say they appeared to struggle a little this year to get good guest stars. Although we thoroughly enjoyed the Jodie Benson (Ariel) and Kate Mulgrew (Captain Janeway) talks on Saturday. The event was hopping on Saturday, with probably close to several thousand people at the event. Luckily they take over the whole convention center and the downstairs vendor area is very large. (Of course we find things we don't need but want and spend way to much, but at least we are supporting artists.) The shear number of people dressed up was awesome. (My daughters even dressed up as Link and Zelda to attend.) The event has something for everyone, from panels, shopping, special events, cosplay, food and fun. In years past we have gone several days, but this year we just went for 1. If you have a chance to go, I highly recommend it. read more

I've been to this con twice, 2024 and 2025. I hated both times going because the first year we went: I wanted to meet Aleks le, but they locked the lines and I couldn't meet him. Then as my husband and were going to meet the Natus actor they told us we couldn't wait by his line because it was full. Not to mention, when we went this year, most of the actor you had to pay for online and you couldn't purchase autographs or selfies at the table, which is stupid because I've been going to cons since 2023 and they usually allow you to buy it at the table. The staff here to terrible too because they don't know where to go, I asked where Hadyen' was going to be at twice and got two different answers so my husband and I had to walk around like a chicken with it's head cut off to try to find where he was going to be signing. And the Hayden thing was awful, they were passing out the photos as we were waiting in line for the autographs and they came to us twice and I asked if we could have the other photos since they had extra and lady rudely said no you have to pay for those. Like wtf your gonna toss them anyways and my husband spend 1400 to meet this guy. For a fan experience that was the worst thing ever They were rushing people and by the time we got out of meeting him, we couldn't attend his panel because the line was already long. 1400 wasted. There was no time to chat and ask him questions, they charged extra If you brought a anythinv that wasn't flat for him to sign. You had to pay extra if you brought more than one item with cash that no one would have on them. They also didnt have ATMS so you couldn't get money out even if you wanted to. This is turly the worst con I've been to, I think Gameon Expo, Saboton con and Uwu con are better because they don't lock you out of the lines, you don't have to pre order autographs and the staff is helpful and knows what they're doing and they're not rude. If I could give this con a 0 I definitely would. read more

come for the costumes and community- leave for everything else. Prices for food, water, basic necessities are higher than I've ever seen them, anywhere, ever. the staff seem to know less about their jobs than the attendees do. the food tastes like hot garbage that was drowned in the toilet, not even a little warm or fresh. spent $20 on a burger that was inedible and honestly it all just ruined the entire experience. not sure if I'll be returning in the future, this is hot garbage. they don't seem to understand how to organize these big events. read more

The costumed attendees are the best part of this event for me. It is a dazzling display of well-thought out costumes worn by children of all ages. The event is a bit pricey, especially if you purchase tickets at the door (roughly $60 per adult), so buy online. There was no senior citizen discount, at least at the 2017 event, but I believe there is a discount for children. It is, however, worth the cost to experience at least once in a lifetime if an event such as this is of any interest to you. Security on event day 2 that we attended was very good and efficient in getting all checked and into the event at a fast pace. Many parents with kids in tow attend and the kids love it. If you are into sci-fi and computer gaming collectibles and fantasy-play wear, there are a lot of offerings for purchase. Backpacks and weapons, real and costume props, arenot allowed, however, we were allowed to bring in a Camelbak water vessel for hydration, but check online rules each year for changes and specifics to allowances. There is an outdoor food truck court and beer tents that offer a variety of foods and a few other surprises outdoors. read more

I love Comicon. I love the amazing costumes fans put together, and how much fun they seem to have parading their works of art around. I also enjoy the panels; hearing some famous and semi-famous talent speak to their fans and answer questions. It's like Halloween on steroids crammed into two fairly large buildings. What I don't like is the price of meet and greets. After admission, I find it absurd that celebs (or semi-famous names) demand $35 - $100 to take a selfie with them or grab an autograph. A few of them were really down to Earth and don't even ask about money as you chat with them; Kevin Conroy (the iconic voice of Batman), and Teddy Sears (Zoom on the Flash) to name a few. Meanwhile, the lady who did voice of Poison Ivy on about 10 episodes of Batman asked almost immediately if I was going to pay $35 to get a photo with her. Uh no. I liked your voice work on those episodes, but no. Overall, it's a great time though, and I do intend to go every year it's in town. I just won't be spending hundreds of dollars for selfies when I do. read more

This year (2022) Phoenix Fan Fusion was a mess. Several actors and actresses backed out and the guests were dismal. It was hard to find things, including booths in the exhibitor hall and rooms for specific panels. I tried to go to the Drinks With Authors event and had difficulty finding it and this was a common theme for my experience. Lines were long to get badges - it took a friend 45 minutes of standing in the sun with no water to get theirs. Since no outside food was allowed and only one water bottle or a refillable container done lines were long and the food choices were not fabulous. Also, the fountain water made me and several other people sick (diarrhea and vomiting was rampant in the bathrooms, which caused them to smell really bad). I hope it is better organized next year because this experience was not the best and I've been going to this con since 2011 at least. read more

I've been to two Comicons and have had a great time at both. Whether it's sitting in and listening to different panels, browsing through the goods for sale, admiring the costumes, or hearing the guest stars speak there's always something to do while you're there. The last Comicon I went to had guest stars such as John Barrowman, Stephen Amell, Bruce Campbell, and Nathan Fillion. Sadly, we weren't able to see Nathan Fillion because they were at capacity in the room he was at when we tried to enter. The main issue I have is that there are so many people attending the event that it can be really hard to even walk around, and if you don't come super early to the guest speaker shows you might not get in. read more

If you're looking for some fun on Memorial Day, PHoenix Fan Fusion has it all. Over 700 vendors to shop with, photos and autographs from celebrities, authors and amazing comic guests! The evening events are a blast and out on 3rd street, they have food trucks. Big tip.. get tickets for this event when they first go on sale. They run about $55 for 4 days. YOU CAN'T BEAT THAT. People seem to wait until prices go up and go "Oh crap.. I shoulda.." yep! lol. Good times for four days! read more

My kids have begged me for the past couple of years to go to Comicon, so we finally went. I'll admit this isn't exactly my cup of tea but I still had a good time. The people watching alone is worth it, so amazing costumes, but it does bring out some true weirdos as well.. what doesn't these days? We went the day after the dumbass who brought in real weapons got busted so security was tight but honestly was much quicker than I expected. It's a shame but to be honest with so many people in such a confined area I'm surprised they didn't have this type of security before. This show is fairly well flowing considering the sheer amount of people there, it's truly impressive. Overall had a good time. My kids got a few "hard to find" things they wanted and my son got an autograph he wanted. I honestly wouldn't go here for myself but if my kids had fun then it was worth it. Phoenix Comicon was amazing this past 2013 and being a first timer it was more than just an expo of characters. For me, it was that and an opportunity to celebrate something I'd never done before with my Bumblebee Camaro...Bumblebee was able to be celebrated as a pop movie icon. I happened to be invited to a nice weekend of this showcasing of talent and pop culture by some great people in TJ Vanderwerf and Mike from Madprops. Not only did I marvel at the costumes and aisles of toys and comics and paraphernalia but experience something different. My car was voted as fan favorite by the people there and took home an award as part of their first ever car show. Fans showcased their cars ranging from the Ghostbuster's Echo-1 to a Jurassic Park Movie Jeep and many others. It's humbling to win an award or be recognized by your peers. But what makes me truly happy is when I see little ones come up to my car, or me and ask if they can have a picture taken with it or sit in Bumblebee. It makes me happy to know that someone like Bumblebee can be brought off the silver screen to them. Its almost an unheard of things these days but to bring nostalgia to the people, especially children is truly a delight. I've sen little ones start to cry their so happy to get a chance to see Bumblebee in person. I'm a 40 year old man, and it makes me sit back and watch with no pride at all but humility at the displays of gratitude. Comicon is such an amazing event. Its growing which is always good and the Phoenix Convention Center has great amenities, accessibility and cleanliness. Plus the staff people are friendly, organized and very respectful. I can't wait to go back and be a part of this again. If you all want to see something a litle different from Superman to Batman to Charlie Brown to the Avengers and Star Wars, go to Comicon. You won't be disappointed! read more

Late review. This was my second year attending with my son. We enjoyed it both times. We came away with great comic books, Funko Pops and shirts. My son gets to dress up as his favorite super hero and see others that do the same. We already have our tickets for next year. The discount for pre-purchasing is significant. Parking is a pain, so we stay downtown for the event. read more

I don't know what convention these 4 and 5 star reviews are talking about, the one I went to was a disorganized mess. The security was slow even for an event this size, the security staff were rudely screaming at people trying to direct them into lines. When you finally got past security you had to go inside to get your wristbands, in the past this area was outside and had separate areas for people who had paid in advance. Having this inside meant going through all the people who were already there and added to the crowding. There was not much in the way of signing or direction and it was the one staff member who wasnt completely rude who directed the crowd of people into a series of rooms, with tape on the floor, where some more rude staff directed us around ln a zig zag pattern, until we reached the 3rd room there they finally upgraded us to barricaded zig zags and we got our wristbands. Over 2 hours to get in, missed our panel. I have been to cons before and they are never this bad. I guess the lesson here is to avoid the event or spring for the vip badge that they mail to you in advance. read more

Having never been a Comicon before, I don't really have anything to compare this particular one to, but I have to imagine they're, well, usually a little, well, I don't know, bigger, I guess. Don't get me wrong, there was a lot going on, what with all the comic book and action figure booths, people in costumes (everything from ghostbusters to Anime shit that goes right the fuck over my head), guest signings, Jedi training and film festivals, but, I don't know, still just felt like, well, Mesa. Don't get me wrong, me and my lil bro had a blast, me trying not to check out the parade of cute little goth princesses that were obviously too young for me to be checking out, him undergoing the early stages of Jedi training.. he received his official Padawan Learner status, btw. Yeah, that's a Jedi thing. Oh yeah, now he's well on his way to becoming quite the guardian of peace and justice in the Galaxy. I'm quite proud. Tons of cool guests.. Data, Wesley AND Counselor Troi from Star Trek Next Generation, dabo girl Leeta from Deep Space Nine (schwing), Chewbacca, the magically babelicious Kate from Silver Spoons (who tested very high on the strokability scale when I was but a wee lad, btw.. No, I don't know where the Wayne's World references are coming from, haven't seen it in years..), Fucking K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider, and the original Incredible Hulk, Mr. Lou Fucking Ferrigno. Oh, can't forget Admiral Motti from Star Wars.. yeah, yeah, you know, the dude whose lack of faith Vader found disturbing - that's right, the very first recipient of "the Force choke". Comicon is life. I look forward to this massive event/party/gathering/bazaar every year. The convention center houses so many things to see, do and buy and I ALWAYS have a fantastic time. My family and I went to the Phoenix Comic Con this year and had an awesome time. I wasn't sure what to expect but I was very pleased with how many people showed up in costumes. There were so many vendors there selling items and a lot of the items were things you can't find anywhere else. My kids enjoyed seeing all of the costumes and props. There were a lot of people who showed up for autographs and pictures, which is impressive since this isn't the San Diego Comic Con. Phoenix Comicon 2011 and 2012 were a smashing success. I really hope to see them utilize the Yelp outlet for 2013. Having the cast of Star Trek TNG there along with Jon Bernthal from the Walking dead was an absolute treat. There are so many talented artists at these conventions, board gaming, manga, cosplay, video gaming and enough panels that there is no way you can be at them all. Just outstanding. I attend a lot of comic/game/sci-fi conventions as part of my "night job", and PhxCC is one of the very best...and it seems to get better every year! The guests are really impressive, they have tons of really interesting panels, and their vendor floor...it's tough on the wallet, there's just so much neat stuff! One thing I really enjoyed was the HUGE area given over to games in the adjacent Hyatt Hotel. Board games, role-playing games, wargames - all were readily available to check out with lots of table space and always a few friendly faces looking to join a game. I've been to the con every year since 2009 and it's always a high point of the year. It's become a real high point of the year for my daughter and I, and I can't wait for 2015! read more

The organizing of this event as well as getting to witness the creativity and Imagination of cost place is really something merchandise really great prices reasonable almost it's too bad they still have a handful of people that go there for the wrong reasons and her ass and hustle some cosplayers but security and organizers are good about controlling it thanks again for everything look forward to next year! read more

While that wasn't my first Comicon, it was my first one in Phoenix and they put on a good show. I love cosplay and the competition was fantastic with great judges who made perfect choices. Phoenix Comicon is so much fun! And its growing so fast, it's already in the top 5 largest Comicons in the country. Very impressive considering it was pretty much a grass roots type of thing to start and grew from that. It doesn't feel corporate at all despite any stars they may get or how big it gets compared to others around the country. It always feels grounded with the fans who started it with all of the fun panels and intimate settings. I'll be going back every year! read more

This convention was just... Not well done. The space planning and crowd floor were poorly planned and it caused a lot of unnecessary waiting. The staff of the event were also very, very rude. I can't recommend this convention to anyone. With Tucson, Nevada, and California (both LA and San Diego) being so close to Phoenix; I'd highly recommend avoiding the hassle this con offers and checking out alternative options. read more
