In desperate need of a renovation. The place just feels dirty, the staff doesn't seem to care, and our seats were broken. One of the chair arms at the end was falling over - we couldn't even use the cup holder. I had to go up and down the escalator multiple times to get help at the bar just to pay way too much money for a beer. The seats recline, sure, but there's no stadium seating, so you're not at the best angle to the screen. I'll never come back here again - you're better off going to Scottsdale Harkins or AMC on camelback. read more

I really like this theater! It's on Mill, which might be off-putting to some, but there's a parking garage right next to it, and you can get your ticket validated to make it free. The theater is big, with super comfortable reclining seats. I also love the self-serve drink and butter stations, especially since the popcorn could use some help, lol! Tickets are cheaper than at Harkins, and the $15 a year Stubs membership unlocks more discounts, like 25% off matinee tickets, which that by itself makes it worth it for me. Here are the downsides: While the theaters themselves are nice and cool, it's really hot inside, I mean, really, really hot, even the employees are fanning themselves, and the staff seems unsure about some of the Stubs benefits, like free drink and popcorn upgrades. I have personal experience that this theater (like other AMCs in the area) regularly changes its showtimes -- without notice and sometimes by as much as 30 minutes -- *after* you buy a ticket. This, combined with the fact that whenever "showtime" ends up actually being, AMC typically plays 10 minutes of commercials *plus* 15 minutes of trailers, makes it difficult to plan around seeing a movie here. I bought a ticket to what I thought was an 11:30 screening today, and got to the theater at 11:35, only to discover the showtime had changed to *11:00* and I missed a big chunk of the beginning of the movie. Be advised. This AMC *does* validate parking for the garage immediately west of the theater on Ash Avenue (signs at the garage's entrances say it is for Chase bank). The ticket-validating machine is on a table in the middle of the theater's entrance lobby; you may need to ask an employee where it is, since there are no signs or any other indication that the machine is for parking validation. read more

I think this was my second time at this theater, I don't usually go to Downtown Tempe for movies since I have a lot of closer theaters but the prices of the movie make me want to come back! For matinee showings the ticket cost is only $5.49 for adults and children and for normal showings it is $7.49 for adults and $5.49 for children. These prices are wild especially since at Harkin's they're almost double that! And as long as you park at the Centerpoint Parking garage, you can get your parking ticket validated as you exit the theater and pay nothing for parking! So win-win! Since this theater is located in Downtown Tempe, there are a lot of good food places nearby such as Pedal Haus, Morning Squeeze, etc. all within walking distance so you can grab some food before or after. The theater is on the smaller side though and seating and showings may be more limited because of it. There are nice and comfortable reclining seats so if you can't watch a movie unless you have those, then this is the theater for you! One complaint is that since the theater is older, once the lights are out it is hard to sometimes find your row and seats, so we've had a lot of ppl scrambling around in the dark for several minutes during the movie trying to find their seat numbers. Overall AMC Centerpoint is a pretty quaint theater with nice reclining seats, cheap ticket prices, validated parking, and good food nearby. read more

I had time to kill after having a meetup / breakfast with my friend who recently relocated from Chicago to Tempe, Arizona on a brisk New Year's Eve morning. I decided to stay in the area and discovered a local AMC movie theater. I hadn't seen Matrix 4 yet and it recently debuted in theaters a week before. I was glad that I got to see it, especially when my hometown theater in Honolulu priced tickets at over $15 per person (adult). I thought that was crazy. I only had to fly to Arizona to get a reasonably priced movie ticket at $5.50. Go figure. And so, I waited around from 9:30am till about 12:00pm when the first showing was for my selected movie. The theater itself was a semi large building that boasted about 8-10 screens, if not more. The AMC movie theater complex is as state of the art cinematic as they come, but come with the typical luxuries you'd find anywhere you want to watch a movie in. My experience here was pretty good and typical of watching a movie that's freshly released into theaters. I didn't purchase any snack items from the snack bar, since I had left overs from breakfast that I used for lunch. The lobby was quite nice and clean. The service here was quick and friendly, staffed by good people. For the most part though, the experience here at this AMC movie theater ran about 3 hours. I was glad that they had restroom facilities there. You assume many do, but not always, but glad this one did. Not sure if they have public Wi-Fi either. Oh well. The overall experience here at this AMC Movie theater in Tempe, Arizona was nice and uneventful. For the most part though, I kind of wished I added some snacks to the movie experience, but that would have meant more $$ that would be spent elsewhere in Tempe. The movie was pretty good, although I heard of mixed reviews. The seating itself was rather comfortable, since the theater was virtually empty during the middle of a work week, but it was New Year's Eve day, but still. It was nice to be in a movie theater these days, since COVID-19 erupted the world. It was nice and spacious to put your stuff in, but they make you sit in assigned seating. I don't know why but it is what it is. On the flip side, there is a generous helping of air conditioning to make your movie experience crisp and fresh. It was nice to be in there, especially when it was a little colder outside than inside actually. The only issue I experience here at this AMC movie theater was that they started to play the previews with sound on, but no video accompanying it. This went on for a good 10-15 minutes before they realize the error and fixed it before the feature presentation started. Just thought that was weird, but other than that, the rest of the experience was good for me. If you are in the Tempe area and want to see a movie, consider coming down to this AMC movie theater. The area surrounding the theater was nice and trendy. This AMC Centerpointe 11 movie theater is located at 730 South Mill Avenue in Tempe, Arizona. They accept major credit cards, as well as cash. However, in the age of COVID-19, best bet is credit cards while wearing your face mask. While in the theater itself, you'd be required to wear a face mask and hopefully social distance 6 feet between people. It's likely cheaper if you watch a matinee versus at night, so you can also properly enjoy the movie while being safe from other people. As far as parking goes, I'm not sure if there's public parking nearby, but street parking available is always a good option. If you are using public transportation, best bet would be to get here early enough to by your admission in so you don't have to miss the previews. The previews are always the best part than the feature film, so you can plan ahead accordingly. For me though, I enjoyed the fact the admission prices was freaky cheap. This is a great little movie theater right next to Pedal Haus brewery off of Mill Ave. Given its location, I thought it would be crowded, but to my pleasant surprise, it wasn't. The lobby is small, but clean and organized. No long lines at the concession stand. The seats are AH-MAZING... So big and comfy, love the reclining feature. We saw Endgame in 3D and the tickets were reasonably priced. 2 tickets were $25 using the Atom app (convenience fee included). Love being able to reserve seats and not having to rush and get in early for good seats. The movie auditoriums are smaller with smaller screens but I liked this because it can get noisy with bigger crowds, plus it's easy to find your seat. Parking is behind the theater in the parking garage. Don't forget to get your parking ticket validation! I didn't know they had this until I read another review, but now I know for next time. Overall, clean and cute little theater. We will be back again. read more

The theater is a small AMC and you can tell it's age. There is only one person working at the concession stand but he was actually super fast. The theater itself can use a bit of renovations since you can see very visible signs of aging from yellowing paint to chipped walls, etc. Otherwise it was a typical movie going experience. read more

We recently joined the A-List program. You are allowed to view up to 3 movies each week for $19.95/month. My honey loves to watch movies and so this deal was pretty much made for us. lol This is our go to theatre because it's close to home. It's clean and we know the drill. Park in the garage and validate your ticket on the way out. One of the best features has to be the reclining pleather seats. Bring a throw because it's usually chilly in there. read more

This is my new favorite theater for 2 reasons. 1) their prices are cheaper than other AMC locations. While other AMC charge $11-$15 per movie for late morning and early afternoon movies, this place charges around $5-7. The seating rows doesn't have partitioning walls but they still have the reclining leather chairs with plenty of space. 2) the entrance to each screens are located in the back of the theater. This helps with less interruptions from people entering and exiting the theater during the movie. There's parking garage where you can get 4 hour validation from the theater. Also, this location is not very crowded. I recently saw Annihilation and A Quiet Place and I was able to purchase a ticket right before the movie and got decent seats. read more

I was in Phoenix and wanted to see a movie, and the timing worked out at this particular theater so I made the trek. This place was difficult to find and Waze even got confused but eventually I spotted the bright neon AMC sign in the distance. It was unclear where to park or if I'd get validation from the theater. I noticed a couple of cars going into an adjacent garage, so I gave it a go. The gate wouldn't let me in. You had to have some sort of keycard to park in there. Okay, whatever. I'm still not sure if the theater has a dedicated parking lot or garage! I ended up circling for parking on the busy street on a Friday night. Not fun. The parking was metered too, so I had the added stress of not only scouring the car for coins but also worrying about the clock. Minus 2 stars for the parking hassle because a business, especially a movie theater, needs to make it easy to park. After a short walk to the entrance, I bought my ticket. The theater was in a state of disrepair, with carpet ripped up and obvious construction and serious renovations going on. I won't hold this against them because I'm glad AMC is trying to upgrade its theaters. I climbed the steep flight of stairs (escalators were shut down) to a theater on the top floor. I wasn't expecting much but the auditorium was nice! It was outfitted with comfy (if well worn) red leatherette recliner seats and a screen that was small but wide (the auditorium was small so the screen was appropriately sized). The sound was good and the temperature was perfect. No complaints. I'd probably not return to this theater but it's well appointed inside. I'd suggest taking an Uber if you don't want to fool with parking. read more

I have been coming to this theater since it was Harkins. And since the change to AMC a few years ago, it has become my favorite place to watch movies. The AMC app is great and at this theater you can pick your seat. The seats are leather and can turn to loveseats with raising the middle arm rest. Movies are always under $10.00 per ticket. Matinee prices are $4.99. You can't beat that with a stick. As long as this theater stays in business, I'll keep going! read more

Comfortable seating and good actual moviegoing experience, but the sinks and soap/hand sanitizer dispensers did not work. The butter dispenser next to concessions didn't work either, so my popcorn ended up being more salty than buttery. ‍ Oh well. I've been to other AMCs where the food was a waste of money- that was not the case here. Got mozzarella sticks and they were perfect. Staff are friendly and the movie theater is located next to plenty of food/drink options and close enough to ASU to be a good movie destination for students. Easy to walk to. Good experience, though the sinks not working knocks it down a peg for me. Overall, I would recommend this theater for people looking for a reasonably-priced movie in downtown Tempe. read more

Came to AMC to see Star Wars tonight. This is our favorite location because of the comfortable seating. Power reclining, wide seats are the norm. The prices at this AMC are customary for the valley and the amenities are consistent: multi-option soda fountain, real butter dispenser, etc. They often run out of certain soda options during heavy times and are slow to refill but since there are four machines, (two downstairs and two upstairs) I can usually get my faves. AMC Tempe is the way to go. read more

Great location in downtown Tempe. Seats are just superb, reclines almost fully. A/C can be cold, grab a jacket. Popcorn and coke are a must to enjoy the movie on any day of the week. Parking can get expensive if your not lucky to get street parking, nearby garage charges 2 bucks an hour flat to park your ride. There are local restaurants and food outlets all around to get a bite before or after your movie. Overall a good experience. But costly parking. read more

It's been years since I've been to this theatre. What a disappointment to see how it has deteriorated. It looks dated, the carpets are filthy. What an incredibly horrible experience we had here. Arrive at the theatre only to walk into a dirty theatre. Seat was covered in what looked like slime. Had to go get it cleaned. Then, the movie starts and it's in Chinese subtitles. Missed the small print on ordering to see that (my bad there). Within 5 min of the movie starting, we get to listen to a loud baby making the movie near impossible to hear. I make a shush sound and the father jumps in my face and threatens to "kick my @$$". I don't back down and decide to respectfully walk out and get management. How do they handle it...nothing. The guy then comes out and threatens me and what do they do, let him back in the movie. Security never shows! How can you feel safe at a place like this? This used to be a great theatre. Now, it's an unsafe place to see a movie. Highly recommend finding somewhere else to see a movie. read more

Speaking to them is a stress since they never seem to hear out the orders correctly, forcing us to repeat ourselves more than twice. Its embarrassing to ask why didn't get a large water and having another fellow customer do the workers job to show me where it is. First theater I've been to where a $100 dollar bill is cause for alarm. Myself, my wife, daughter and niece went to a matinee to see the new Insidious movie today. We ordered from the snack bar, and when I handed the cashier a $100 bill to pay for $47 worth of popcorn, candy and drinks the cashier called his manager over concerned that I had given him a counterfeit bill. He handed my bill back and asked for a different form of payment. My wife and I own our own business, and sometimes receive cash in payment (gasp). I had never been so embarrassed, after finding our seats I spoke to a manager myself, who explained to me that the City of Tempe mandates that all $100 dollar bills be checked. So now, not only am I a counterfeiter, I'm an idiot too? As a 47 year old college graduate, and Air Force veteran I can't imagine why the cashier would find it odd I chose to pay with cash. Unless it wasn't the bill that troubled he and his manager, but rather my heritage. I will not be returning. read more
