Recently returned to Arizona Federal theater to enjoy the music of legendary and eclectic Bob Dylan. I seen several concerts here and have always enjoyed the experience. Sound acoustics are excellent. One of the best venues in Phoenix area for sound quality. Parking can be challenging and frustrating. Frankly I have given up on parking in downtown Phoenix and prefer to ride the light rail from Gateway CC for free. Your game or event ticket is your light rail pass as well. We go early, enjoy a nice meal and comfortable arrive at the venue on time. The security check was quick and efficient. The security personnel were friendly and courteous. The theater staff were also friendly and helpful in directing us to our seats. Food and drinks are expensive. We brought one sealed water bottle a piece with us per the venue's rules. The John Doe Folk Trio started the show, from Austin played for about 30 minutes, were engaging and entertaining. They had a Johnny Cash sound and vibe. They were followed by Lucinda Williams, played for about 45 minutes. Very nice show considering a recent stroke, an inspiring performance. Bob Dylan played for about 90 minutes. Very stoic with a dark back lit, shadowy setting. He performed a few classic but mainly performed new material. No video or photos allowed, strictly enforced. I was glad we were in the pit to get a good look at the legendary musician and song writer. read more

04/29/2026 I took my parents here to see the Dancing With The Stars show. I had purchased a parking pass for the Adams St. Garage when I bought the tickets to ensure that my parents wouldn't have to walk too far. It was about a 5-minute walk to the venue. We got there maybe half an hour before doors opened, and there was already a long line of course. Fortunately the weather was not too bad. They opened many lines with security/bag checks. We brought only a clear bag and a small purse so that we could move through quickly. Inside, the merch section was located below the stairwell. I'm glad we hit the merch tables early because the line later wrapped around and up the stairs! They had multiple banners with different DWTS pros and celebrities - everyone was taking photos with them. The bathrooms were pretty clean. The theatre itself was easy for me to navigate because I checked the venue map online ahead of time, but there were staff members there that can help too. There were a couple girls who ended up mistakenly (or purposefully?) sitting in my section for half of the show, then later got relocated to their actual section by security. That was annoying because they had to walk in front of us and blocked our view of a dance. We sat in section 4, the lower-level center section, but row 27 was too far back. The stage seemed so far away, and some parts of the stage were blocked by taller people. It did help that there was a screen on both sides of the stage - I think those screens could use an upgrade though. Sound quality was not bad. Overall I had a good time with my parents there, and I would go back for another show, but probably try to sit closer, if it's not too pricey! read more

This place isnt bad and I have not had a bad experience. I have been here several times for different types of shows and have sat in different sections. Lines for merch can be long and at times the line will wrap up the stairs. Staff is typically friendly and police is always present. Concessions and drinks are a tad bit pricey. Attended the Katseye concert here earlier this month, it was certainly packed and busy, I am not sure the space was ready to handle so many folks. There were two merch booths and I saw the lines having to wrap around into the stair cases. The lines waiting to get into the venue also wrapped around the building a few times and seemed wild. Getting in through security was okay, they eventually split the one line into bags and no bags lines. In there, I didn't try any of the food options, they had mostly alcohol and drinks and nothing too inviting. The view from my seat was not great, I was off to the left most side facing the stage. Even though they had screens running ads on the sides of the stage before the concert began, once it was time for the event the screens disappeared making it hard to see and enjoy the concert. read more

We came here for the Cirques du Soleil rendition of "A Night Before Christmas" and we really enjoyed the show. The facility has concession stands throughout that have some really good options for snacks and food. It was very easy to get in and mostly easy to get out and I attribute that to the workers outside handling security and especially the usher's inside the theater. They are all on point, Direct, yet friendly to everyone. The atmosphere is awesome here and I would say most of the seating is pretty good. I do have to say for this show the floor seating creates a bit of an obstructed view for some simply because all of the chairs are on the same level and if you happen to sit behind someone that's somewhat tall, it blocks the stage. Next time I will call to find out which row is the first row of the stadium seating because I like to sit as close to the stage as possible yet I want to be able to see the entire show. I am including some pictures of the show itself, although I should've gotten more pictures of the facility because, after all, this is a review for the venue and not the show. I give it four stars instead of five simply because of the floor seating, but don't let that deter you, just make sure you know which seating is which when you order tickets because this facility is amazing. read more

My daughter and I attended the Madison Beer concert and VIP Q&A on June 20, 2026. What impressed me about this place was that the staff took the time to to be empathetic and accommodating to me, as I was on crutches due to an accident a couple weeks ago and I am dealing with a knee injury. After having first crack at merch and Madison Beer Archives, we got in line for the Q&A and I was brought a folding chair to sit in while we waited for a couple hours. An usher actually took me and my daughter to the elevator so I didn't have to use the stairs with my injury as well! A+ service. Because we got to use the elevator, we secured an up close spot in front of the stage that we were able to stay at for the duration of the event. This is my daughter's favorite singer, so it was a very special and great experience for her. Security was very friendly and passed out free bottled of water throughout the show. Sound in the venue was great too, the bass was so heavy you could feel it throughout your body. On the way out, I was able to access the elevator again and staff once again checked on me to make sure everything went well. Great experience over all. read more

Have been here multiple times for concerts and other events over the years and have always enjoyed the venue. Every seat I've had has been a good view of the stage and the sound is good. This past weekend my husband and I were in the club seating area and it is a little tight like we were a bit squished but not bad. I like that you can book a parking garage spot beforehand now. As the self-appointed king of concerts in Phoenix, it is my solemn duty to review every single concert venue in town. Next up: Arizona Financial Theatre. Located downtown, you know what that means: parking won't be easy. You can pay to park in a garage or surface lot. Or you can find free parking on the street which won't be easy. That's what I did but it was roughly a 25 minute walk. I like getting my steps in so I didn't mind. I've been to two concerts at this venue: one oldies concert and one rock concert. Getting into the oldies concert was a breeze. For the rock concert, there was a huge line outside. While the line moved fast, it did take a decent amount of time to get through it. It would be nice if the venue had more people helping out with entering the venue to speed up the process. Once you get in, there's a lot to like about Arizona Financial Theatre. While it's somewhat outdated, it's comfortable. It's a good size venue, kind of in between a huge venue and an intimate venue. They have your usual assortment of food and beverage options. What surprises me about this venue is that some of the food options are quite affordable when you take into account the typical "venue premium" for food, soft drinks, and alcohol. Getting out of the venue after the show was pretty seamless. Some pretty big acts come to Arizona Financial Theatre, so I'll be back in the near future! read more

While this venue might be on the smaller side, I think it accommodates a nice group of people. As a warning, I would say don't buy tickets that are in the first few seated rows. We made the mistake of buying second row, tickets, and when people in the first roasted up, we could not see the artist perform. That was a bummer. We were also shocked by the amount of fighting that was happening because of people standing up in the securities lack of help. We purchased tickets in a garage that was across the street from the venue, which was very nice and easy to leave when the concert was done. This is our fourth or fifth time visiting this venue and we will continue to come back, but we won't be buying seats again in the first few rows. read more

My only issue was with the purchase of water...they sell canned water and when I asked to not have the cans opened I was told they had to open them at purchase...it was the rule. We were so happy to find out the concert was indoors. Arizona summers are no joke! I really liked that it wasn't a huge venue, so even if you're up in the nosebleeds, you still get a great view of the concert. Just a heads-up to anyone who wants to enjoy a drink, they're strict about IDs so make sure to bring the original. No copies or phone versions allowed. The AC felt amazing, the bathrooms were clean, and the sound system was booming. Honestly this is the best concert venue I've ever been to. read more

The theater is OK. It's located downtown so we purchased parking in one of the parking structures nearby beforehand. This was our second time at this venue, the first being a Men I Trust concert in November 2023. Last Tuesday night, June 3, 2025, we attended - Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson: An Astrophysicist Goes to the Movies Part II. It was definitely a thrill for my husband myself and our two daughters to see Neil deGrasse Tyson live. He explained at the beginning of his talk that the theater picks the topic out of a long list and they chose "going to the movies part two". I saw a lot of other topics that would've been more interesting on Dr. Tyson's projected list. The show started pretty much on time, only 15 minutes late. It ran for a little over two hours. I and my family felt really squished like sardines in our seats. Through the second half of the talk, all I could think about was how I needed to stand up and stretch my joints and muscles. There are men and women's restrooms located close to each exit and there are also food and drink stands. Security check-in was pretty quick. We could bring in bags 12 x 6 x 12" bags and they didn't have to be clear so that was nice. read more

This is one of those venues that sometimes I love and sometimes I don't like. Overall, it is a beautiful venue and holds around 5,000 people. It is located in the heart of downtown Phoenix. So expect to pay a little for parking if you park in one of the nearby garages. For some reason, the layout bugs me a little. I have sat in both the lower level seatings and in the balcony seats. The seats themselves are comfortable, but it does feel like you are always staring at the back of someone's head. Vender prices can be a little crazy too. The sound system at Arizona Financial Theatre is pretty good. I have seen a number of great shows here over the years. I have seen bands like Oasis, Coldplay, B.B. King, Tom Jones, Johnnyswim, A Perfect Circle and Vampire Weekend at this venue. I have also seen stand-up comedy acts and speaking engagements. I like the intimate feel that you get while here because of the smaller size. The light rail will get you somewhat close here if you don't want to pay to park. But the stop is a few blocks away. The nice thing is that there are plenty of places to eat at nearby that are within walking distance. The Arizona Financial Theatre opened in 2002 and has been called Dodge Theatre and Comerica Theatre in the past. read more

My friends invited me to see a show at this venue recently, and I was stoked to see a couple of bands who I've liked for years. Naturally, that meant we stood in the outrageously long merch line that thankfully went pretty quick. It wrapped up the stairs, which was pure insanity! Overall, the pricing of both the tickets and the drinks is what would steer me away from returning to this venue. A bit insane to me to spend $20+ for a shaker cocktail. I did however appreciate the refill being cheaper which encouraged me to have another. Plus, how can you not have a few for Hollywood Undead! It was a great show! Our seats had a clear view and the videos shown on the sides of the stage and on the stage were clear with no lag. Service staff was very friendly! Sounded great and clear. Not a lot of leg room (5'8) but wasn't too overly cramped. If I was 6ft or taller I would've been uncomfortable! A baby was whining during the show and I was surprised they let a baby into the show! Maybe it's cause it's where all the shows I want to see are, but I like this venue! It definitely makes a difference where you sit. Below row 15 and you're too low, past row 30 or so and you're too far back. But get a seat in the sweet spot in the middle and it's great! I've been to multiple concerts, seen the comedian Bill Burr, a Christmas Cirque show, and RuPaul's drag race life. I had a great time at all! The sound quality is great. There's 2 large screens if you prefer the close up view. I love that food and drinks are available and you can take them to your seat. They are a bit expensive but a show is always better with a margarita! Food portions are great! The concessions look busy but move fast. If you want merch, go early! Pretty good concert and show venue. It's midsize inside so most seats feel like a great view of the artist or performer you are there to see. The sound system is great. There's tons of parking garages nearby with different prices but can make it convenient if you want to drive there. Ride share is typically also an option. They have a concessions inside to grab food and multiple bar areas though the drinks can be very pricey. I paid between $24-$37 for a drink which felt highly overpriced even for a venue. This was the main issue. Security was quick, at least for the concert I went to. They had a bag policy but they were not enforcing clear bags so I think if you just have the right size you can be okay. Definitely an older venue so it had some broken equipment to the side which made it not look as nice but overall an okay venue. read more

Went to the Cirque show tonight. The performance? Fantastic. The theater? Great. So why the one star, you ask? Ah yes...enter the suite experience We were invited to watch from a suite, which sounded very nice until reality did a dramatic backflip. It took a solid 15-20 minutes for a server to acknowledge our existence, so off to the bar we went. I ordered a Diet Coke and was proudly presented with a giant can. Ice? Nope. A glass? Also nope. Just me, my can, and my dreams of an ice-cold beverage. Back to the suite for what was promised as fresh-baked, warm, savory pretzel sticks. What arrived instead? Not warm. Not savory. Not fresh-baked. Honestly, I think they may have once heard of pretzels, from a distance. I tried one last time--asked the server (fingers crossed, hopes high) for a glass of ice. And...you guessed it. Nope. In all my years of being mildly impressed by "suite" experiences, this one took the cake--then dropped it on the floor. Easily the worst suite experience ever. My wife and I have enjoyed a few excellent shows at the Arizona Financial Theatre. Since it is in downtown Phoenix with readily accessible and easy parking it is convenient. This 5,000-seat multi-use facility shows it's not the ideal venue for shows, theatre or music. Albeit it has an excellent sound system, an acceptable video setup, its seating arrangement, angle of distribution of patrons as well as its seating slope is not conducive to a vivid, detailed or eyesight visuals of the stage. There are other venues in and around the city with better seating arrangement and design, formidable sound systems, and more. It is my opinion this theatre was overbuilt in size for accommodating volume of patrons without accommodating for value and quality - especially viewing and listening. We only attend Arizona Financial because of its presentations, definitely not because of its quality. As a last note though, they do have the best security methods and system in town. read more

Hubby and I saw Bonnie Raitt last night. She was SO GOOD, but I can't say the same for this theater. First, as you've probably read, the seats are small and cramped. I'm not a large person, so I could live with that. After all the fees, I paid $500 for our two tickets, seats 3 and 4 in row 35. They were a Christmas gift for my husband. Let's not even get into how nuts concert prices have become, largely due to the junk fees. (I was charged a delivery fee for my electronic-only tickets, for example). The problem is shown in the photo. That was my view of the stage the entire evening. Love you, Bonnie, but what a waste of $500. Never again. read more

What a crappy theatre! The roads in downtown Phoenix were all blocked so we had no way of getting in the parking lot! I had to walk 3 blocks in heels and it was agony! Our tickets for Bill Maher (I am obsessed with him) were one of the most expensive ones. But the chairs in the front were crappy chairs and so old! Can't believe we spent that much money to sit in super uncomfortable chairs for hours! Only good thing was the workers were friendly and helpful! Never again we will come here for any shows! Yikes! Ps. The tricycle ride after the show saved my night! It was $10 per person but we paid him $30 just for saving me the long walk! LMAO read more

Wel, I've been here a couple of times but def not my favorite venue. We t and saw oh what's his name from the Ted lasso show, the comedian. He was ok. The lines to get in looked long, but they move fast. Security serious there. But they were nice. Good AC inside, be careful if you are in any way a fall risk, finding your seat when it's dark can be challenging if you are in any way " challenged." I wanted to get a second drink, but they shut bar down at 8:10!!!! And this was a Sat night, I was like, huh? Bathrooms very clean. There are positives to this place, but don't expect to get a second drink and place has kind of an institutional feel. Acoustics good, parking garage on Sat not difficult. Friday night might be a different story. All in all, competent and clean. And more security than the airport. read more

So what I thought would be an epic event turned out to be so mediocre and a major disappointment and I'm being nice. This review comes in a bit late, but I need to get this out. Being new to Arizona and having been to a few major concerts, this by far is my least favorite event/theater in all of Arizona. I was here for the Rufus Du Sol show, I've seen this incredibly talented and creative assemble 5 times now, each venue has been up to par in hosting Rufus. Sorry not sorry, this venue failed in so many levels. You cant put Rufus in a sub par venue, but you tried?! The atrocity! from the Sound, lighting, to the small seats make it sub par. I felt like I was in a school auditorium watching this beyond epic band in such a horrible venue. Arizona Federal Theater doesn't deserve to host this type of Talent. It is an okay venue in downtown Phoenix. The staff members are very nice. To be honest it is not my favorite venue in town. I have been to tons of shows here over the years. it is not the best nor the worse. Three stars covers it with a lobby bar and bathrooms. I still call it the Old Dodge Theater. Hahaha Stop changing the names of downtown venues please. Clear bag policy so please call and double check the current bag policy before you go. The seats are cramped in my honest opinion and the aisles are very narrow. Whenever this place comes up in discussions it is always followed by a friend telling me that they got hurt, tripped, drinks spilled on them etc and so forth. It is a smaller venue but very good location. You can also take the light rail. I have always taken the light rail or walked so cannot comment on parking. There is a parking lot right across the street but I do not know the fee. Usually these lots run 20 to 60 dollars depending on what is going on in the downtown area at the time. Call and see if they offer a day of event parking rate. Had a blast at the 80's reunion gig on my birthday July 3. read more

Attended a concert here last night. The rows of seats are so close to each other everyone has to stand up so a person can get down the row. This was a constant disruption during the show. I'm 5'6 and my knees were jammed into back of seat in front of me. The rows aren't staggered vertically enough so the woman's head in front of me completely blocked my view of the stage. I could only see because of the tv screens. It just needs an updating.... read more

This is an easy venue to get in and out of. There is plenty of parking lots near by that are within convenient walking distance. Came here for a comedy show - we were in the balcony, top row. Was so hot up there - was actually very uncomfortable. Did not try and food or drink, so can't review that. Would definitely visit this venue again. read more
