I was very pleased with my two recent visits to Phoenix Skin. I had been a patient in the Phoenix office years ago, so this was my first visit to the North Scottsdale office. My annual skin check with PA-C Michael was quite thorough. He answered my questions and provided explanations as needed. Thankfully nothing suspicious was found. After that, I came back for dermaplaning. It was my first-ever experience with that, and Taylor reviewed everything with me first, explaining what she was going to do and letting me know what to expect. I felt comfortable the whole time, and my skin now looks and feels so much better. All of the people I met during both visits could not have been more kind, caring and helpful. read more

Where do I begin... First, I scheduled my CO2 laser appt in December 2025 and couldn't get in until March 2026. I was scheduled for a Tuesday and they called me the Friday morning before leaving me a message telling me the machine needed to be serviced and needed to move my appt to Thursday. I called back that Friday twice and left 2 messages. I called Monday left a message and called again. I didnt get a call back from girl until Monday late morning. Mind you, my appt is scheduled for Tues 7 am and there is alot of prep with antiobiotics and pills leading up to my appt. For a simpler procedure, sure no problem, but with CO2 laser there is SIGNIFICANT downtime and preparation with pills, so a HUGE inconvenience. I had strategically scheduled time off work, and had my fiance schedule time off work as well, because I needed a driver for day of surgery and post op day. So I lost 2 days of income because of this. I asked for some sort of compensation for the major inconvenience and she was pretty dismissive about it and said no, sorry, not our fault, the machined needed something fixed. To not give some sort of compensation for this is insane. To back up for a moment, when I went in for my initial consultation, I never saw Dr. Laris, I saw an assistant and I told her my concerns were laxity and I'm interested in lasers, do lasers help with this. She told me to do the CO2 laser so that is what I scheduled. When I came in on procedure day, she makes the comment to me, "Oh why are you doing the CO2 laser you have no sun spots, are you doing it for preventative reasons?" I was appalled. In that moment I was filled with self doubt and frustration that I just paid $4500 for a laser that wasn't going to address my needs. I don't have sunspots or terrible skin, that wasn't my concerns. I felt absolutely duped. By the way its 3 months post off and my under eyes are still so red and I don't see any difference in my pores, no tightening, so far disappointed. But maybe I'll see some results in the next few months... I also have to comment that calling them and leaving their surgical center messages was a nightmare. The spa answers and transfers you. The spa cannot schedule surgical center procedures. I left over 12 messages and received 2 call back messages. But no one continued to follow up with me even though I left numerous messages. I was so frustrated, I told spa side front desk girl, I will stay on the phone, can you go over to the other side and grab someone, because this is ridiculous. When I got someone on the phone, her response, oh it looks like we called you back 2 times. I said ya and I left you messages after these which means you have to call back to continue to followup!! That is how this works! Why do I have to leave 10 messages after, and still get no call back! Front desk girl had to track you people down. So annoyed and disappointed by their lack of understanding and zero ownership of their frailties. Overall, I was so unsatisfied with the whole experience. Their staff and business model needs training and updating. I will not go back there. read more

The front desk gal with the long brown hair for some reason speaks to me in a condescending manner every time I walk into the Scottsdale office needing service as a legitimate patient. The first time I came to the Scottsdale office was in early August immediately following an appointment at my primary care physician's office during which he had informed me I needed to consult with a dermatologist for the problem I was having with my skin. She greeted me coldly when I told her I was a past patient of Dr. Lee Laris. I explained that I had been previously referred to him by Heather Thomas, and I had seen him previously at the Phoenix location. Excelling at providing "customer no-service," she informed me that it had been so long since I had seen Dr. Laris that I would now be considered a new patient (though I obviously was not new to the practice), and that even if his his medical team would agree to let him see me (WHAT!?!? Yes, they apparently very mechanically manage and control his schedule for him like in impenetrable force field) that there were no appointments available until January of next year. Keep in mind, she was telling me this in August of 2022 that he would not be able to see me until January of 2023 IF his medical team would even permit it. WTH?!? So we leave it that she is going to check with them and get back to me. I waited a few days. I eventually received a call from Phoenix Skin stating that I would be unable to see Dr. Laris AT ALL, but that they would schedule me to see a different provider at the Phoenix office. I drove the distance to the Phoenix office (I live in north Scottsdale), and I saw the alternate provider. The provider was fine. My issue with my skin was addressed. A F/up was scheduled. I arrived for my follow up on the day my appointment was scheduled approximately 15 minutes early only to be met by the same long-haired brunette and told that there was no appointment for me in her system. I am thinking, "YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING!" So, this gal acts assumes I surely must have gotten the date and/or time of my appointment wrong until she phoned the Phoenix location who had scheduled this follow up appointment for me and confirmed that I was supposed to be seen by her office at the time I had given her since I live closer to that location. They "worked me in" so I did not need to reschedule which was a relief though a bit stressful. That being the case, they acted as though they were doing me a favor as if it was my mistake instead of apologizing for their mistake. In my opinion, that, in itself, was another error in judgement. Provider again was fine during the appointment. I received the care and information I needed. My questions were answered though I felt a bit rushed. Upon checkout, I attempted to purchase a product from a nice enough lady sitting at a check out desk (completely independent of the check in gal and check in counter) which the dermatologist recommended during said appointment. For some ungodly reason this jerk of a check in ... receptionist ... brunette long-haired girl with an attitude interjected, "We don't sell everything the Phoenix location sells!" First of all, I don't care what the Phoenix location sells. I am not present at the Phoenix location today. The dermatologist at YOUR location TODAY asked me to purchase it here TODAY (at the Scottsdale office), and I live 5 minutes from the Scottsdale office. I really have no interest in having to drive all the way back to the Phoenix office ever again if there is any way this can be avoided. Nobody asked for you unsolicited information. You checked me into the office for my appointment. Now please know the limits of your position, stick to the duties of your job description, and stay out of the remainder of my visit. The other gal, the check out lady, proceeded to fetch the product I was directed to purchase by my dermatologist THAT VERY DAY IN THAT VERY OFFICE LOCATION FROM HER PRODUCT STOCK. I was then asked, "It costs over $100, is that okay?!?" How rude. Do I look like I come from the poor house? Did you not notice my Tom Ford sunglasses or my Louis Vuitton bag? $100 makes no difference. Even if it did, the proper and polite thing to do would be to simply charge the consumer for the requested item without issue or incident. If the customer has a problem with the price, believe me, the customer will bring it to your attention ... SO LET THEM ... rather than insulting your customers. There is a definite training need here. I have been quite saddened and disappointed by my repeated mistreatment in this office by the front desk staff. This is quite a shame because the actual doctor and medical assistant did a fine job. read more

We set an appointment and drove almost an hour to get to this clinic only to be told we needed a referral to be seen. There was a note from "LARISSA", the person who we set our appointment with saying that we would bring one when he/she NEVER asked for that or mentioned one on the phone. There was 2 of us present on the phone at the time of the appointment setting and neither of us ever heard a word about a referral nor did we ever say we had one. This was the first time trying to see a dermatologist and could not have been a mistake on our part. The front desk lady made it seem like it was our fault, even after explaining to her that we would not have set the appointment nor drove almost an hour to get there if this was the case. I wish I could leave a good review, but the mini face-lift and neck lift did not go well. The doctor started cutting before I was under sedation; I felt every cut on the right side of my face before I went under. Two months post-surgery I am still in pain around my ears. I scheduled my daughter an appointment for May 8. Two days before they call to tell me that they don't actually take patients at the time that they scheduled the appointment, as they close for a botox party. It's a bit odd, as they are the ones who scheduled the appointment. I say okay and reschedule for May 15 with a different provider. Now they call me today, 5 days out, and say the provider decided to take the afternoon off and we need to reschedule the appointment. Weeks are going by due to the scheduling errors. The scheduler can't find any appointments with any provider within the next 3 weeks to reschedule. They gave no solution to their faulty scheduling. I do not have a primary physician in AZ so i had emailed this company beforehand to make sure that i didnt need a refferal. They told me that i didnt need one so i made an appointment. The morning of my appointment i called again to confirm the time and they told me that they didnt put me into their system so i had to wait until next week for an appointment. I scheduled one again this morning and was prepared to wait. Now they call me again and tell me that i need a refferal despite what i had previously been told. I had my first visit at this office to have a pyogenic granuloma removed. I am pregnant and coordinated clearance with my OBGYN to have it done before ever visiting here. Don't waste your time going to your primary care doctor for skin problems (or anything else for which there is a specialist). After being told by my family doctor that he didn't know what was causing my skin to break out, I scheduled an appointment at Phoenix Skin. Unlike my experience with most specialists, I was able to make an appointment with one of the PAs the next day. I was a little apprehensive because their on-hold music and most of the rest of the marketing materials for the practice seemed pretty heavy on cosmetic procedures. I was afraid I would go in because of hives and end up with a lift and a chemical peel. Nothing of the sort happened, though. The front desk people and medical assistants were great, and they were running on time. Michael, the PA, was awesome. Very personable, knowledgeable, helpful, and empathetic. Best of all, he knew what was going on and we got everything taken care of. Short and sweet--I had a minor skin problem that turned into a gigantic annoyance/pain. Incessant itching to the point of me breaking the skin. My legs looked like battlegrounds from my claws :( Boyfriend all but forced me to head to a derm. I'm glad I finally took the leap, because I was quite miserable. I, like many other reviews it seems, saw Mike Richards. The assistant that came in before him was so completely pleasant and nice, and she stuck around to take notes while he examined me as well. He immediately figured out what I should do (I'd developed a random form of eczema that wasn't visible to the eye but left me miserable), had her write me a Rx for medicine and since I first applied it the next night, I've been 100% cured. They insisted I schedule a followup appointment for a month later in case I needed anything, and said I was free to cancel it if my problem vanished like they said it would. PA Mike Richards is fantastic. I had heard a lot of great things about Phoenix Skin, primarily the Camelback and Central location. The north location was more convenient for me, so I made an appointment. I had a weird rash, and booked an appointment at a different doctor's office for. After the NP came in, google image searched what she thought I had, and provided me with a diagnosis of ringworm, I was pretty skeptical. I should have pushed back at the time, but decided to get a second opinion. The entire office at Phoenix Skin was amazing. Booking the appointment was super easy and I was able to get in very quickly. I filled out all the paperwork before hand on line on their mobile friendly site. The receptionist was pleasant and the tech/nurse took me back right on time. She was very sweet and my actual exam with Mike was a breeze. He was super thorough, but didn't make me wait or waste any time. Excellent bed side manor. The receptionist have the worst attitudes and I have YET to receive my prescription that the office was supposed to sign off on because the pharmacy discontinued the one they prescribed me. I've called twice about the issue and the rude receptionist said she would check into it, I get home, there's a delivery from the pharmacy but it's the SAME prescription they've already sent me. I don't know if it's the office or the pharmacy they sent me to. But that doesn't take away how rude the receptionists are. I will not be returning to this place. read more

Today after getting up 2 hours early (I'm night shift) for an appointment, I spent 50 minutes in their waiting room with no explanation or apologies from the front desk staff. They called back 3 other patients (seeing other doctors I assume) who got there after me. Finally I cancelled my appointment and left. Very disappointing and unhappy. First appt was in June. Told receptionist I wanted a "skin check" and also to have a tiny bump on my cheek checked. I had had it for a couple of years---didn't cause any problems, but it annoyed me just being there. An esthetician thought it was a clogged seborrheic gland and suggested I have a dermatologist look at. Nice office, nice staff at Phoenix Skin. Shown to examining room and after a few minutes, PA comes in. Quick and efficient. Did my skin check in about 90 seconds, said all was good, whisked out. I blinked, looked at nurse, and said, "What about...?" She checked chart, said there was no notation, but she could see if he could come back. Well, that sounded like it would be inconvenient for him, he seemed really busy, and maybe I wasn't clear about it to the receptionist, so I just shrugged and went home. So the bump---not painful and---as DH said, not noticeable to anyone but me!---kept annoying me, so I made another appt. October 1st. This time I am seen by an older doctor. He looks, ruminates that it probably is a clogged gland or pore, but to be on the safe side, should do a biopsy. This alarmed me, and I asked him: "You are going to cut my face?" He assured me that it would be very tiny, look like "you scratched your face hiking", but it was better to be on the safe side. Okay, he's a doctor, and there is a lot of skin cancer in AZ. So there's this tiny sting, he pats me on the shoulder and leaves. The nurse applies a band-aid to my cheek and gives me care instructions. I look in the mirror---I do not like the band-aid look, but whatcha gonna do? So I get home and later that day remove band-aid and almost pass out. This is not a scratch---it's a HOLE! I kind of freak. DH tries to soothe, says probably looks bad cause it's first day, give it time. I don't think I will live long enough for there to be enough time for it to look "normal". Well, it's been two months and two weeks and I still have a freakin' divot in my face. I have gone to plastic surgeon, who said he can't second guess another physician, but he probably would have taken a stitch when excising that amount. His solution for this would be to actually cut out around the divot and then stitch. Oh, yeah, like anyone is getting near my face with any kind of sharp instrument. Apparently, I am always going to have this scar on my face now. I have friends who have had multiple skin cancers removed from their faces and don't have this kind of mark. I look in the mirror and feel a surge of anger and frustration. Phoenix Skin had such excellent Yelp reviews, I felt really comfortable going to them, but I feel like I need to post this review, so people aren't too trusting and ask questions. Oh---and it took two weeks to call me back with the biopsy results. They called on October 15th. Of course, it was fine. read more

All I can say is Michael Richard PA-C is a ROCK STAR!!!!! After two mis diagnosis and eight weeks of pain and frustration this man saved my sanity - four day before Christmas! He provided me a shot that gave me quick relief and percriped meds (the correct ones this time) that had my condition under control within 48 hours. The office staff in awesome, prompt, do not keep you waiting, efficient in calling in meds and just a sheer joy - I never ever have that with any medical facility. Thank you Michael and staff. Stumbled on Phoenix Skin when I developed a rash... And wanted to have it dealt with. My other dermatologist says they can see me in two weeks-at that point I will have scratched my arm off. I call Phoenix Skin that afternoon and they were pretty full but said they could see me the next day! Fast efficient checkin and almost zero wait to time see Dr. Mike made it even better. They gave me a sample to get the itching to stop ASAP, and call in a prescription. I was in, seen, and out in no time, but certainly felt like I was looked after and received a proper diagnosis. I can't say enough good things about them... I wish all medical providers were this good. read more

Extremely helpful and attentive staff. I have been here three times for various reasons and referred somebody as well. All of my experiences have been exceptional. They also offer aesthetic services such as Botox and other injectables etc. and there is an aesthetician available for peels and other rejuvenation.
